Some doubts with Force touch, asian compilation, etc.... - Huawei P9 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi! I have some questions.
I have bought a VIE-L29 with VIE-L29C636B130 (EMUI 4.1) compilation, with Force Touch function working perfectly. Its weird, because considering what I read about chinese 64gb version does not support Force Touch... (as I understand, "C636" is related to region "Asian")
THEN: From overnight I lost that function. Then downloaded and upgraded to L29C636B180 (EMUI 4.1.1), but nothing happened. In fact, I have not "Pressure sensing" menu into "Settings==》Smart assistance".
SO: The question is... Can I upgrade to Nougat with another region (South America or Europe)? What should happen on this? Will I be able to activate Force Touch again?
(please remember, this function worked before... why not now?)
And the last (but definitive) question: Can I install another region compilation as if it were from same region?
From already thank you very much.

I have latest EU b376 and force touch works. If you want to try this rom version, remember to change your cust to C432. You can find a lot of guides on the net.

Great! I read a lot in this forum, but found only one guide with SRKTool and its for L09 models. My model is L29... So if you can you show me another guide, I will be very gratiful...
Anyway, anyone who has C636 with force touch working?

Its the same as L09.. just follow the guide.. i have c636 also

I have L29 c636 and upgraded to Nougat with FF. Force touch working perfectly. My back, home and multitasking buttons are force touch so I would instantly notice if it didn't work.

P9 Lite (VNS-l21 single SIM) CUSTC change

Yesterday I figured to debrand my VNS-l21. Everything is fine, updated manualy to latest ROM B130. But, CUSTC has changed from C02 (Vodafone EU) to C900 (Global). In P7 thread there someone posted small update.app file (around 18 kb, http://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-p7/help/p7-l10-defect-report-reminders-t2952124) that after flashing will change the CUSTC back to C432 (EU open market).
Have someone idea where to get this file for VNS-l21?

Nice work with the toolkit Years before I had unlocked & rooted every of my smartphones but, last two years I need to work with some apps that recognizing rooted device and won't work (bank app etc.). So if there no chance to change the region back to C432 without rooting the device, I will stay on that Global CUSTC (after two days of deep testing, there's no problem with it). Maybe later someone will do that update.app file or will be included in future update ROM.

First, if you can build that update.app for l21/l31, it would be amazing, because that will be BIG help for everyone who want only to debrand our P9 Lite's without lose warranty or brick it.
Second, nice to have there someone, who taking care of this phone :good:
Hello dear developers...Recently I bought a used Huawei p9 lite vns-l21c150b106 single sim...It is cosmote branded and I want to debrand it cause I found out by searching that there are several updates such as b150...When I try to update my phone it says that has the latest updates...I wanted to ask if there is a way to debrand it and return to official Europe stock rom without void my warranty...I found a way in the internet through local update via sd card but I don't find the stock rom Europe(I live in Greece)for my single sim vns-l21...I found only vns-l21c432b160 which is for dual sim...I think that vns-l21c150b160 must be for my single device,i suppose that the difference is c150 and c432...any solution please???

There is a EVA-L09C636B361 in the list.
I just tried it the other day. There are two FULL pacakges, but neither works. Installation failed either at 5% or around 40%.
I update the L19 version, you must use Huawei Updater tool.
The L09 I think must works (with the correct URL for that version)
In the L19, exist two versions, 29 and 30 december. The first works, the second no, I dont know why.
Use the FULL versions.
God luck.

My model is Huawei P9 EVA-L09C636
I tried to update like this, it's started updating and got an error while updating then phone rebooted with new update,
but there's lot of errors,
Built Number displays as - NRD90M test-keys
Updater missing in settings
Camera missing
Flash Light not working
Clock missing
File Manger missing
and few more default huawei apps missing.
How do I fix it or downgrade to previous version back?
My Phone is Huawei P9 EVA-L09C636
Even though my phone is L09 I've flashed L19 by following the steps on this thread -

it's still NRD90M test-keys. but i'm cool with it.

Used P9 - Missing Stock Apps

Hello everyone!
I just bought an used P9 (EVA-L19) in pristine condition. It arrived with the nougat update but it is missing all Huawei apps. I don't think I really mind not having those (less bloat, hurray!), but I really want at least the camera app! What should I try? This thing is full stock (unrooted), and I'd rather keep it that way... Should I just flash the full stock firmware? HiSuite claims my phone is up to date, but I've got no idea how to check what build my current firmware is.
Thanks!
Oooh... the build seems to be NRD90M "test-keys", which appears to be an old beta build from my googling. Do I have to go back to MM and then upgrade to Nougat? Hopefully I can do all that without a custom recovery...
You have an intermediate firmware.
Search here the B378 for C432 if you want the european version (wich is working fine; some other last updates may have some problems - for example, with B383 me and others have problems with the battery).
Where are you from ??

I'm from Brazil, but I know for a fact this phone isn't brazilian. It comes with a bunch of stuff written in spanish rather than portuguese, and a warranty certificate citing a bunch of spanish-spekaing latin american countries. I'm browsing through the forums and trying to find out what is my Cust yet. But thanks for the response.
Also, if I have to flash something, is it better to stick with Nougat or is Marshmallow more hassle-free?
(I've attached a screenshot of the status screen from Huawei P9 Tool, this is all the data I could gather so far)
I can't read the screenshot ...
On the "About the phone - Version number" what do you have ??
For example, mine has EVA-L19C432B378, where:
-EVA-L19 is the phone model (P9 dual sim);
-C432 is the european version;
-B378 is the firmware version.
Also, you can read that thread too ... https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/how-to-downgrade-nrd90m-to-marshmallow-t3541400

All it says on "Version number" is "NRD90M test-keys". I've read that thread, but to downgrade you need a ROM, and without knowing my Cust ID I'm not sure which ROM I should get.
The screenshot shows my serial number (XVV7N16425001010), the model (EVA-L19 - Dual Sim 32GB Rom 3GB RAM) and a weird build string (eng.jenkin.20161230.130431)

Dual SIM EVA-L19 - No idea if I've got NFC or not. Can't find anything NFC-related on the menus, but it might be that I do not know where to look. Long time Windows Phone user here, just migrated back to Android

It does have dual SIM, and is the EVA-L19. So no NFC then. Does it help? I'm currently looking for debranding guides because I can't find what branding this phone originally had.
Oooh well... so far:
1- *#*#2846579#*#* doesn't work (nothing happens), can't enable Manufacturer mode for DC Unlocker
2- The HUAWEI EMUI site doesn't give me a bootloader unlock code, so can't unlock the bootloader with the official method
So, so far, I can't install TWRP, so I can't flash a C432 oeminfo.bin
Also, the Rollback instructions at https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/rollback-eva-l19-android-7-0-emui-5-0-t3496091 fail, as the rollback intermediate firmware just fails at 5% claiming to be incompatible with my device.
Aside from blindly trying to flash random firmwares with the three button method, do you guys have ANY ideas at all? I need a rest, just wasted the whole day trying to get this damned thing fixed
Sad thing: even with a borked firmware install this is still orders of magnitude better than my old Lumia 930.
EDIT: GODDAMMIT, BLUETOOTH ALSO DOESN'T WORK!

I'll give the instructions of the first post a try, though they did not work for the OP.
EDIT: AAAAAND the 800mb file is downloading at 28kbps... this won't be fun
I'm not sure if it would've been better to edit the last post or add a new one, so if this is agains the rules (I've read them and couldn't find it), please inform me and I'll change things accordingly... buuuut.... IT WORKED.
The OP on the topic absynte pointed out never really posted the outcome of his issue and it looked like he never got it to work, so here is what I did:
Flashed the zip file
I flashed the zip file linked in this post through starting up with vol up + vol down + power. Exactly like the guy over there it did not solve my issue, but did uncover I had exactly the same build as him (EVA-L19C185B361 - Middle East / Asia)
Flashed the intermediate firmware
I download the correct intermediate firmware (C185B300) from here and flashed the same way. The *#*#... menu did not work (as in the menu itself didn't show up)
Flashed a MM build
I downloaded and flashed C185B180 for whatever reason (could've gone with tha latest MM build right away AFAIK). Worked great, all stock apps were there and so was bluetooth
Let the phone update itself through OTA
It updated itself to B210 (or B220, don't remember well) and then B385. Seems to be working fine, but I haven't given the battery a fair chance (constantly flashing and updating stuff) to judge its performance.
Thanks everyone for the help!

Rebranding P10 with EMUI 8?

So, to get EMUI 8 I had to rebrand my device to L29C636, and it worked fine until B361 , the last two updates (364 and 365) it refuses to update, if I search with FF it tells me the firmware is not valid for C636, but if I try and check the same firmware with C432 (I believe it was 432, my memory is not great as it used to be) it says everything is cool and I can install it, but for that I need my device to be rebranded again.
I was searching for few hours today, and couldn't find anything useful the last version of HWOTA is a year old and does not support EMUI 8, I did managed to get up to date twrp but HWOTA I have doesn't detects its booted to twrp. Multi-Tool 8 does not support P10 L29.
Security is a great deal for me and a lot of the recent fixes apply for me and it's really getting frustrating that every single important update I need to break my head to install it.
Does anyone have up to date guide for this device? I think my next step will be to check how it handle a meeting with the wall at high velocity...really getting annoyed with this Android sh*t.

[TUTORIAL] Downgrading to EMUI 8 using HiSuite

When I was trying to downgrade the old phone of my GF (single SIM, FIG-LX1 or P SMART 1st gen) all of the tutorials didnt work for me at all.
The one with Huawei Firmware Finder via Google Play was tedious altough i know how to change DNS, use eRecovery and all that jazz didnt work at all and the phone would throw me fit after fit.
Then I was reading too use older versions of HiSute and again change DNS and i gave up cause all ended up not working and thats how I figured out a way myself.
I will not be responsible if you lose any of your data doing this since it will wipe the phone completly
You will need:
- The phone ofc - make sure its charged all the way
- USB cable
- SD Card minimum 8GB
- Huawei P Smart FIG-LX1 FIG-L11 FIG-L31 hw eu HLRCF Figo-L11 Figo-L31 9.1.0.115(C432E5R1P3T8) Firmware 9.0.0 r3 EMUI9.0.1 05014XFJ 05014XMW - search androidhost.ru
- HiSuite
Steps:
1. Download the mentioned firmware from androidhost.ru
2. Extrach the dload folder from the zip to your desktop
3. Place the dload folder in the root directory of your SD Card (use a formatted one min. 8GB capacity)
4. Power down the phone, install SD Card and hold both volume buttons while powering on the phone to engage Force Update
5. Let the update finish its job and the phone will reboot too setup screen so just quickly set it up to reach the homescreen.
6. Connect the phone via usb and choose file transfer (for me it only worked that way)
7. Under my computer right click on HiSuite open and click HiSuiteDownloader
8. Finish installing HiSuite and follow on-screen instructions so the phone will be detected and connected to HiSuite.
9. Click Update and now bottom right of the window it should ask you for older version so click on it and it will present you with going back to EMUI 8.
(Explanation: I figured out if you run the latest version of EMUI 9 HiSuite will not present you a older version button thus you cant follow the process in my tutorial so thats why you downloaded the very first EMUI 9 build where it lets you do it)
10. Let HiSuite do its thing like downloading, installing and so on and do not unplug the phone until you come back to the setup screen which will be the EMUI 8 style one.
11. Good job :good: you finally downgraded to android 8.0 and now can unlock the bootloader if you choose so (unlocking costs money - search another thread for that i only focused on downgrading the phone so you can do it if you wish)
Well I hope this tutorial will help you as it helped me!
Feel free to like/thanks this thread and share if it worked or not
Hello! I have the FIG-LX1 vodafone Spain (only I can use one sim card). With Emui 9.1 and dicember 2019 Android patch security. Could I follow the process? Thanks!
I tried this and it worked, thank you! I was getting really mad at the slowiness of this phone in EMUI 9, it was getting worse in every update.
I also want to point one thing. You mentioned a firmware download on android-host.ru of " Huawei P Smart FIG-LX1 FIG-L11 FIG-L31 hw eu HLRCF Figo-L11 Figo-L31 9.1.0.115(C432E5R1P3T8) Firmware 9.0.0 r3 EMUI9.0.1 05014XFJ 05014XMW". While this may be right for your phone model, it may not work on every model. As I see from your post, you have the C432 model. People should look for the firmware for their model or else it may not work (in my case it was C02 and I also found it on android-host.ru).
Other thing I would like to point out is a question. I am not experienced in smartphone modding but as you downloaded the 9.0 firmware in order to downgrade from HiSuite, couldn't you just have donwloaded the 8.0 firmware and install it up front instead of having to pass in HiSuite? (I have not tried this, I have sticked to the instructions provided here. As I said, I do not know much of this).
Nonetheless, thank you again for making my phone usable!

I think that this is the first 9.1 version with C02 (15-june-2019)

Starting from 9.1.0.176 (C02E11R1P5) I've downgraded to 9.1.0.115(C02) through sdCard.
Then through HiSuite downgraded to 8.0.0.144(C02).
Next step ---> unlook bootloader!

I've tried with 8.0.0.134(C02) through SdCard but the process fails on start.
I don't know if repeating the procedure without HiSuite(putting in SdCard 8.0.0.134(C02)) would have worked equally well.
Got it Working perfectly from 9.1.0.203(C432E11R1...) to 8.0.0.176(C432).
1 Step Closer to Bootloader Unlock
Im sorry to say but this guide does not work.
At least, not for my region which is c782 (UK). I did try with the rom you mentioned anyway, just in case the region would not matter but obviously it does.
There doesnt appear to be a 9.0.x version available for my region on android host so I guess I am totally stuck.
I've tried every downgrade tutorial in existance and none work. every dload method seems to fall over. Tried both androidhost.ru and firmware finder roms and just get nowhere. I give up!
Thank you. I was able to downgrade a FIG-LX1 that was not running latest EMUI 9.1 to EMUI 8.0, and then used another tutorial to flash and older version of EMUI and unlock its bootloader.
Anyone having the 9.1.0 C40 or C900 version by any chance?
