Hi,
I'm running in somme issues with my Lumia 635 ...
I wanted to update it to RS2, but it's not "officially" supported, so i changed the registery to declare the phone as a Lumia 950xl.
No problem.
But after the update, the os boot, but the lock screen won't load ...
I mean, the nav bar and the notifications at the top of the screen are here (cannot open the action center throught) but in the middle, instead of the lock screen, there is a black screen ...
I had this same issue with 2 Lumia 650, but at this time, they were able to auto-connect to my wifi network so i can access the dev web console. And the solution to load the lock screen (and the rest of the ui) was to start the "email app" from the dev web console ...
But now, my 635 is not auto connecting to my wifi ... So i don't know anymore what to do ...
I already try to soft reset and I don't want to hard reset yet because i forgot to backup what was on the phone (and my sd card is bitlocker encrypted, so i will probably loose the private keys :s)
If anybody had a genius idea, that would save me ...
(Sorry for my English)
-Skid
EDIT : I didn't see there was a Win10M subforum, i created a new post, sorry. https://forum.xda-developers.com/windows-10-mobile/lumia-635-fail-updating-to-15063-rs2-t3694123

Hello all. I purchased my Tilt about 3 weeks ago from an ATT store. It was running a little sluggish so i wanted to re flash the ROM. I have done this on many other Phones with great success. I used Duty's new version 7 and liked it very much. My problem is that after running it for about 1 day my touch screen stopped working. I have hard reset it and even flashed it with new and default Roms but when it starts and goes to do the setup i cant click the screen to do the setup. The phone is working behind the setup screen , I have answered phone calls. Is there any way i can bypass that part of the setup so i can restore my Tilt to its original form so i can return it ? I guess i would need a ROM for the tilt that didn't have that specific part in the setup. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been reading the forums here for the past 4 days and cant find the answer anywhere else so i made this post. I want to run Kaiser sspl from my phone but cant get to it with that screen in front. Thanks in advance
Please read follow up
OK this is an update on my situation . I actually got pocket controller pro installed on my computer and on my Tilt so i can now access my devices registry , startup folders etc... Does anyone know what the process is or maybe a registry key that i can change in the start up that will stop that part of the setup from running ? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.
there is an app some place on this forum that does just what you need just never used it so I don't know what its called so do some searching on the forum and you will probably find it
Thanks for the response. Do you mean it will bypass the touchscreen alignment screen ? or i can run a program from my PC as if it were on my PCP?
By the way awesome stuff at your site

You can activesync right? If you can... Try this:
http://www.mtux.com/
Allows you to control the mobile's screen from pc.
Thanks for the reply
The problem is that even when accessing the ppc from a program on my computer i still cant get past the Align screen.
If can can access the /windows directory with activesync, delete the 'Welcome' shortcut in the /startup folder. That should stop the screen alginment program.
Edit:
Another (possibly easier) way to do this is to put an empty file (create with a text editor) called 'Welcome.not' in the root directory of a card in the MicroSD slot.
Another suggestion - though not tried by me on the Kaiser. Works for Hermes:
Remote ScreenAlignment User's Guide
Copyright © 2007, Code Factory, S.L.
Introduction
Screen alignment is part of the boot process of the Windows CE device, and is only necessary the first time the device is booted, or after a hard reset. Since Mobile Speak Pocket works on mainstream hardware and does not involve any specialized firmware changes, the screen alignment process cannot be completely bypassed.
However, we understand that the screen alignment process can be difficult for most users as it requires sighted assistance. In order to overcome this limitation, therefore, we have developed the Remote Screen Alignment application.
The Remote Screen Alignment Application runs on your desktop computer and retrieves the alignment information from the device. It then stores the information in a file on your computer. As long as you have this file, you will never need sighted assistance to align the screen no matter how many times you hard format the device.
We have included screen alignment information for certain devices in this application, so users of such devices can immediately use the program for its intended purpose. However, users of devices for which alignment information is not yet available in the application will have to get the screen aligned manually the first time. Once this is done, the user may retrieve the alignment information from the device and use it whenever the device needs to be formatted and its screen aligned again.
The Screen Alignment Process
When the device is turned on for the first time or a hard reset is performed, the "Setup your Pocket PC" wizard is displayed. You will hear an audio indication that the wizard has come up on the screen. This wizard is a set of screens that help the user align the device screen, testing the touch screen functionality, and setting the time zone for the user's region. The screen alignment process involves following displayed instructions to tap a target location which differs on every screen of the wizard.
Installing the Remote Screen Alignment Application
1.
Download the Remote Screen Alignment application installer from the Mobile Speak Pocket Downloads page.
2.
Run the Remote Screen Alignment installer file from where you have saved it in your computer.
3.
Select the installer language you wish to use, then activate the OK button.
4.
The next screen displays the License Agreement for this application. Press the "I agree" button when you are ready to proceed.
5.
The program to be installed is checked by default in the next screen. You can just activate the Next button.
6.
You may change the program folder for this application, but by default, C:\Program Files\Code Factory\Remote Screen Alignment is selected. Use the Browse button to choose another location, or press the Install button to accept the default and continue with installation.
7.
The application is then installed and if there were no problems with installing, focus will be on the Close button of a screen informing you that installation was successful. Press Enter here to exit the screen.
Using the Remote Screen Alignment Application
Following the successful installation of the Remote Screen Alignment application, you will find shortcuts in Start Menu > All Programs > Code Factory > Remote Screen Alignment for opening the Code Factory Downloads page, running the Remote Screen Alignment application, and uninstalling the program.
When you start the Remote Screen Alignment program, you will find four buttons with focus on the first one:
· OK button - is pressed to close the application. Tapping the Escape key or pressing Alt+F4 will achieve the same result.
· Skip button - is used to align the screen of your device remotely from your computer.
· Retrieve button - allows you to get the screen alignment information from your device, given that it is already properly aligned, and to store it in a file that you can use later to align your device screen after a hard reset.
· Alignment button - runs the normal screen alignment process and store the alignment information on your computer. You will need to manually align the screen if you select this option.
Aligning Your Device Screen Remotely from Your Computer
To find out if screen alignment information for your device model is already available upon installation of the Remote Screen Alignment application, follow these steps:
1.
Establish an ActiveSync partnership (standard or guest) between your computer and Pocket PC device. For instructions on how to set up a partnership, refer to the Mobile Speak Pocket Users Manual or ActiveSync Help.
2.
Run the Remote Screen Alignment application on your computer.
3.
Tab to the Skip button and press Enter. If the file containing the appropriate screen alignment information exists, then the message "Please wait while your device is being configured" is displayed, shortly followed by the message "The operation has been completed successfully. Your device will be restarted."
4.
Press Enter on the OK button already in focus and your device should restart.
5.
On your computer, you are returned to the Skip button and you may Shift+tab back to the OK button and activate it to close the application.
Note that the same steps are performed in order to align your device screen after every hard reset, if the screen alignment information is already stored in your device, whether or not you had to retrieve that information manually or was already included in the Remote Screen Alignment program.
However, if the screen alignment information for your device is not yet available, then activating the Skip button yields the message "No screen alignment information can be found for your device. The screen alignment will need to be done manually. Would you like to skip the welcome screen anyway?". It is suggested that you activate the No button in this screen, and ask a sighted person to align the screen for you.
Retrieving Screen Alignment Information
If you have already aligned the screen of your device, you need to retrieve the screen alignment information from the device. Follow these steps to do so:
1.
Make sure there is an existing ActiveSync partnership between your computer and Pocket PC device.
2.
Run the Remote Screen Alignment application on your computer.
3.
Press Tab to go to the Retrieve button and hit Enter.
4.
If the information was retrieved successfully, the message "The screen alignment information has been successfully stored" will be displayed and you can press the OK button at that screen to close it.
5.
Exit the application by activating the OK button.
The screen alignment information is stored in a file on your computer. This file is named according to your device model with a .dat extension. It can be found in C:\Program Files\Code Factory\Remote Screen Alignment, or in the program folder you selected during installation of the application.
You should ensure that the file for your device is not deleted or misplaced. You will not be able to align the screen without sighted help if you do not have this file in the future. Moreover, if the screen alignment information for your device was not included in the application files, we ask that you email it as an attachment to [email protected] so that we can add it to the next version of the Remote Screen Alignment program.

Thanks for all the Help!
rob.ocelot You Rule Brother! That was soooo easy ...I put it on the card an it worked ! Awesome !
I'm fixing it as i type this . Thanks again
On a side note, I called ATT support today and explained what was happening and he said that they would send a new phone out right away and will have it in 2 days. Than within 14 days i send the old one back to them. All in all a good experience with them so far.
Had to come and Edit my post here. After using your tip on putting that file on my card and rebooting i was able to run the software to restore my Tilt and is now 100% Restored to original ! The Guides from the people on this site are top notch and Thanks to you all ! Problem Solved and New Tilt on the way !
Remote Screen Alignment may not work on 6.5
Had a similar problem, though was on WinMo 6.5 (Anryl's 21725).
Unfortunately, this solution does not seem to work on 6.5- everytime the Remote Screen Alignment (RSA) executed successfully, and the phone restarted, but went back to the "Tap to setup device" screen.
Went back to stock HTC 6.1 ROM, and the RSA works fine.
Did not see this post in time to try the welcome.not tip on 6.5- will try that out once my phone is repaired!
You might try one of Abusalza's Ultimate X2 ROMs. I don't believe they want you to align the screen when you hard reset.
Dave
Thanks!
Thanks for the heads up, Dave.
Am trying one of his ROMs now, and you're right, they don't default to the "Tap..." screen.
Feels nice to be back with touching the screen again (my phone is back from repair)... When the touchscreen was dead that I really understood the versatility of the Kaiser, and most of the programs in it... I could get by most of my day by using various hardware keys!
Cheers!
I just bought a Touch Diamond -very nice phone with a couple exceptions.
Touchflo 3d is nice but Im finding it doesnt have much depth - it needs more functions. And the loudspeaker is not very good - not loud, not clear.
Anyways, its my first windows mobile phone and had a couple questions about what WM6.1 can do. Im using Vista btw.
1. Email - Im downloading ALL my email and its fairly big. Can I force it to save only to internal storage?
2. Music - How do you get the album photo to come up while playing through Touchflo music - the picture does come up if i just play in windows media player.
3. Is it possible to add/remove multiple contacts from the People Menu ie Favourite contact
4. Most important - connectivity. Is it possible to access the phone wirelessly from PC via router? The phone connects to the router wirelessly fine and I can use the internet. But what I want to be able to do is either access the internal storage or sync up with outlook without using the usb cable.
5. What kind of BASIC phone functions does it have?
Eg. Call timer during call
Stop it going to that call history page after a call - i want it to go straight back to home.
Theres more functions it seems to be missing....
6. How do you make it so it FULLY shuts down a program when u hit the top right close button? I dont want to have to keep re-hitting the top right button to open task manager and full close it that way.
7. Lastly, is there any secret tips that a newbie wouldnt know about eg. codes to get to secret menus etc?
1. I don't think so, but I don't download email, so somebody who does may be able to help.
2. Strange problem, probably to do with the version of ID3 tags each uses. But again I have no idea how to solve it
3. No idea with no device in hand
4. Microsoft, being twats, reoved sync via Wi-Fi with the upgrade to WM2003. So, sorry mate, no way that I know
5. My dialer on my other PPC has call timer I think, but the diamond's may not, a new dialer with it included may solve the problem.
Other stuff missing?
6. Get a proper x button, like WKTask, or Wisbar, or something similar. Its also probably possible to change the settings to make it close by tapping X. I also think that with the HTC program, you can close by tap and hold, or, from today, click where the x should be, and a menu comes up enabling you to close them individually.
7. Secret codes? Not that I know of.
Hope the small things I have known here do help
Rory
Yeah, 6 is definitely something that can be done in the standard Windows Mobile settings (unless they've removed the setting in 6.1, in which case a registry edit might do it).
I guess when the phone has been out for a while, a lot of registry tweaks and utils will show up around here to adress all kinds of small and big issues.
i was gona go for a diamond but look at htc touch pro. everything diamond plus hardware keyboard and memory expansion slot (minus front camera).
Found how to fully close the progam in one go - went to task manager - button - and chose "End Programs by tapping X"
Under this option is "End programs by tapping and holding X" which is the default.
I tried it and it does work but I dont like it. Coz u cant really tell how long to hold it. If u keep holding, the program actually just stays open until u release. And I guess if u release too early it wont fully close.
Anyways - thats not a huge issue - wireless sync is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Has anyone found a way to get around it?
Best you can do with WIFI is put the UNC name of your pc into the browser and bring up the shares.
If you want to sync wirelessly, you'll have to do it via bluetooth. You should be able to get a bluetooth dongle for your pc for about 20 bucks though.
OH YEAH!!!!!!!! Going through Opera to browse my PC directory - You little beauty!!!
Now, how do I set up a name for the diamond so I can see it on my PC. Is there a setting you have to enable? I browse for "PCs" and it doesnt find the diamond - just my other PCs
I don't know why but something has messed up the boot sequence of my Xperia. What happens now is: At first comes the Sony Ericsson logo, then the animated gif and then the png image (so far business as usual). But then it becomes weird. While the png image is still there the taskbar is appearing with the "no connection" symbol on it (the two arrows and the x). Sometimes (but to make it even weirder not always) there is also the Windows symbol (the start menu one) shown in the middle of the taskbar.
So far it's only an optical disturbance. But afterwards when the today screen appears and the phone interface (to enter the pin) should load nothing happens until I hit the green phone button to manually bring up the phone interface. To confuse me completely this too is only sometimes the case. On other occasions the phone interface is brought up automatically after the boot sequence. Any ideas what could cause this and how to fix it?
There are not many apps started automatically during the boot process. I have attached some screenshots of the registry (init), windows autostart and sk tools showing all programs that are loaded during the boot sequence.
It's a R3A stock rom (generic Switzerland wm 6.1) and the only third party programs that are loaded during the boot sequence are SPB GPRS Monitor, Softick Card Export and SPB Pocket Plus (and it's safemode). Would it be useful to uninstall those?
P.S. I know I could do a hard reset but if possible I would like to avoid this.
Fixed
I found a way to fix this myself. It definitely was a problem with the order in which the different programs were loaded (still do not know what exactly messed it up). After I played a bit with the sequence I was able to restore a correct boot process.
But in fact this is something that has to be mentioned: How could an average user be able to solve a problem like this? Why should he even have to deal with problems like this? Shouldn't a smartphone os simply work? Shouldn't there be a solution from Microsoft to prevent third party apps from messing with the boot process? I'm a great fan of Windows Mobile because of its openness relating tweaking and customizing but in my opinion shortcomings like a possibly messed up boot process we have to deal with are the reason why most people prefer an Iphone over Windows Mobile.
Hey guys. I've been waiting to try out Windows 10 TP on my Lumia Icon ever since it was announced. When build 10051 was revealed with support for many more phones, I was excited. The Icon was even part of the initial flight list. However, it never became available. Build 10052 was the same. I know that there is a way to install it on non-supported phones with an SD card, but the Icon doesn't have one. Is there anything else that can be done? I remember trying it unofficially on my 1520 using a proxy spoof. I also know that the Insider app was patched to prevent this. Is there any other way, or am I forced to wait until Microsoft gets around to it?
Gabe Aul has even revealed on twitter that the 930/Icon scaling issue has been fixed. However, the fix is not available to Insiders. Help please.
Get a registry editor running (I use Root Tool on Samsung; you should try CustomWPSystem/CustomPFD), and do this to emulate a 1520 (it's a similar architecture):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo]
"PhoneManufacturer"="NOKIA"
"PhoneManufactrerModelName"="RM-938"
"PhoneModelName"="Lumia 1520"
Then, sign-in to Windows Insider, fast ring, take the update, boot, go back to windows insider and repeat. If you don't like the size of the fonts you can change it through the registry or just start out with values for the 830, which are posted elsewhere. If you use Verizon and have CDMA issues, try the values for the Lumia 928 (NOKIA, RM-860_nam_usa_100, Lumia 928); that may provoke downloading provisions for Verizon.

I find it odd that Microsoft allowed this on the Store.
Edit: The app needs to be on the SD card to work. No dice ?

You can change that via the registry; I can't remember the keys off the top of my head but they're around. You can also enable the navigation bar like you're used to if it didn't do it automatically.

Does this also make the keyboard bigger? the buttons are way harder to hit than in 8.1. That's the only thing that really annoys me.
Navigation bar is visible but i am not able to hide it. I already found the registry keys to edit the settings but i haven't enabled write access in the registry yet.
Edit: Can't seem to get write access to that part of the registry. Already tried root tool and custompfd (applied the hacks to get it working for both). Do you know how to write in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\NavigationBar ?
Edit2: changed phone to lumia 830. Font size and keyboard are back to normal. Although i liked to small font size, the keyboard was pretty hard to use.
i guesse thats another broken screen - help thread, and i know im out of luck but here goes..
somebody's Lumia 530 has broken screen that is unlocked but touchscreen is not accepting any touch whatsoever. only the hardware volume buttons and the other main button on the sides. Of course no data/wifi, never had any outlook.com connected account and so on. Managed to get pics/vids by plugging it on the pc but theres no option or relevant directory through the windows phone explorer to look up any contacts which are stored locally on the phone, ONLY.
i tried Microsoft's "Project My Screen" which in fact could have saved me but when i start it up a prompt goes on to the phone asking for permission to be granted to the software which i cannot press and accept.....!! so damn close!!
.........................so any other way/software that could interact with the windows phone and let me transfer contacts? OR a way to actually press accept on the "Project My Screen" permission prompt??????
:crying:
Use WPinternals or WP recovery or Some Windows phone suites to backup everything
Contacts stored local? i dont think so... try in outlook live account.
