Planning on buying a 5X but I have some questions - Xiaomi Mi 5X Questions & Answers

Hey! So, I'm planning to buy a 32GB Xiaomi Mi 5X. I want to ROM it with the A1 port and I wonder: does it change the bands of the phone? Can I change them myself? Can I install more bands?
I need to activate bands 4 (AWS or 1700) and 28 (APT or 700*). As far as I'm concerned, some bands can't be activated in that terminal but I'm not sure which ones.
Thank you in advance! You could save me lots of money!

theirs a small difference between the a1 and the 5X band wise, the a1 is more geared towards global and non china carriers. i actually was going to try cross flashing modem files to enable more bands on my 5X but then a update fixed my issue and game me 4g.

[SOLVED PLEASE CLOSE] New phone??

Thinking of getting replacing the turbo. I have a few phones in mind wanted some opinions on it.
I'm also on Verizon
Nexus 6p
Huawei P9 (wait till launch)
Turbo 2 international (I forgot the name. The non Verizon one so I can unlock bootloader right now)
I'm looking for phones that can be unlocked with no problem. Also have at least a snapdragon 810 or better. Something new and biggest thing no problem with activating on Verizon network.
If this doesn't belong here admin please move sorry in advance

For anyone else, like on AT&T or T-mobile it would be perfect.
Thank you sir! scratch that off the list.
p9 is not as well as huawei said, and it sell so much more expensive in other world than in china.otherwise, the kylin cpu and baseband solution means there is no other rom to flash, neither cm or mokee。
Im in China, huawei or xiaomi means bragging。

Still have my Turbo as a backup i went out and grabbed the Nexus 6P
Shame to see a Turbo user upgrade.
I still think our phones pack quite a bit of power, and even outperforms quite a few snapdragon 810 devices.
I admit I really like the HTC 10, but my Turbo is still super quick, I have custom ROMs and a wicked battery and won't be parting with it for a long time

XT1103 - Questions regarding value and worldwide usage

I was checking XT1103 i.e. NEXUS 6 64GB in USA. ITs now available for < 250$, which I think is quite a fantastic price. I do not really need "latest and greatest" so older gen phones are ok. However, I am wondering if the XT1103 works in India with 4G-LTE ?
From the wikipedia it says
3g - 1 / 2 / 4 / 5 / 8
However carrier bands are given in MHz on coverage maps
USA is GSM 900/1800
India is 850/1900 MHz
So Should I get XT1100 international version? Will the international version work on any carrier in USA. As long as coverage in cities, is there, its fine. Do not need full remote area coverage.
That said, is it a good idea at < 300$ for 64GB, or I should look at NEXUS 6P price drop?
To see the bands available by the nexus 6 I suggest going here:
http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_nexus_6-6604.php
To check the bands that each carrier use by country I suggest going here:
https://www.frequencycheck.com/carriers
Just do a comparisson and buy the one that suits you more I guess.
On the other hand, at this point I would wait for a price drop on the 6p. In december last year I got the 32gb nexus 6 brand new for 250, so at this date it's not a bad deal, but also not the best, it's a 2 year old phone after all.
The US model (XT1103) would not get LTE in India because the LTE frequencies wouldn't be correct, but 3G and HSPA+ would function just fine. You want the XT1100 if LTE is offered by your carrier.
Thanks, I was thinking that XT1100 is US version and XT1103 is the international version. Is it the other way round? Will the international version work inside USA (3g 2g only good enough)

Thanks!
So XT1100 is great. I went to the websites suggested. It says INDIA LTE is B40 (TD 2300)
Phone specs for LTE say.
I do not see 2300 in either of them.
LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 9(1800), 19(800), 20(800), 28(700), 41(2500) - XT1100
LTE band 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 12(700), 13(700), 17(700), 25(1900), 26(850), 29(700), 41(2500) - XT1103
LTE band 4(1700/2100), 13(700) - Verizon
You're not imagining it. Neither model has band 40 support out of the box, therefore you won't be getting LTE at all, regardless of model. It may be possible to add the missing band, and there is a thread in the General subforum on how to do that. If you don't want to go through that however, the international 6P apparently does have band 40, so that may be a better option for you.

Mi a2 Global version

Are there any different global versions depending on the country region that the phone is sold? For instance, is the global version that is sold by Chinese e-shops the same as the one sold by Amazon (Europe) or official mi stores located in Europe?
Sent from my Huawei Mate S using Tapatalk
Everything I read indicates there is only 1 Global version. It's a bit confusing though, supposedly the same phone in China is the Mi6x, and it's slightly different. Then there's the also slightly different one for India. But I don't think there are various 'Global' versions. At least I've never seen any indication of that.
actually there are 3 versions, China, Global and India as Mi A2, and 6X for China, bands are the same for Global and India, but India support extra features as QC4 (presumible soft- disabled on non-India Mi A2).
versions with 4/32GB 4/64GB and 6/128GB
Mi A2 available in Black, Blue and Gold, 6X available also in Red, Rose Gold.
Mi 6X supports extra features (disabled in Adndroid One firmware) as FM Radio, APT-X APTX-HD and LDAC Bluetooth audio (LDAC comes to all Mi A2 on Android 9 update, confirmed by beta testers, maybe APT-X too, don't count on FM radio unless it is officially exported to the US where will be mandatory to enable it)
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100 - Global

Where do you find those beta news?
I don't think the question is 'How many versions are there?' I think it's are there more than 1 version of the one labeled 'Global'. Assuming that's true, then it doesn't matter where you buy it, if it says the 'Global' version, they will be the same.
iow; I don't think they are called 'Global India' and 'Global China' and 'Global - all the rest of the world', they are India, China and Global.
I found the etching on the bottom housing is different. My CE and Litter Bin logo (Hongkong version) is only a label, not etched. I can just remove it.
We have 4 coolers including red here. At the moment, we only have 4+64G version.

M1804D2SI vs M1804D2SG

I can't find this anywhere so I am posting here. Does anyone know the difference in the LTE bands (if at all) that they support. Will a device imported from India M1804D2SI work in Canada? I checked on the frequency check website and they don't even have the Indian version listed.
this from gsmarena (they have some of the same bands, not all):
2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2
CDMA 800 & TD-SCDMA - China
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100 - Global
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 - China
4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800), 38(2600), 40(2300) - Global
LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 34(2000), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500) - China
It's odd though, using frequency check, it seems to have the China bands listed for the global one... Compared to the chart above anyway. It's pretty disconcerting not being able to be sure of something as important as this...
On second glance, it looks like freq check has ALL the bands - for both china and global, listed together under global. I'd bet the gsmarena info is accurate.
But is China version same as India version?
Thanks for the information. But since all information on web points to differences between China and Global, does that mean the Indian version is same as Global version or Chinese version? Or is it it's own thing?
Just get a Mi A2 from Europe and you are good. QC 4.0 is not woth all the hassle especially after people reported some issues with the Indian version.
Just an update on this. I have imported the Indian version and I am using that on public mobile in Canada. So far I am not noticing any difference in my internet speed on my 3G only data plan. This is based on just a few hours of testing. I will be using it more comprehensively in the next week.
However, if anyone has any suggestions for how I should confirm the radios supported on the Indian version, I would be happy to do so and contribute my results back here so that it might be useful to others.
I purchased the Mi A2 in Belgrade, Serbia and it's the M1804D2SG Android One (Mi A2 Black 4GB RAM 64GB); which is also identified as "Xiaomi Wayne" ROM, right?!
The box says, which is of little help:
Dual SIM, Dual Standby | FDD-LTE/TDD-LTE | WCDMA | GSM
