My android compromised?? - Off-topic

So a month ago I had downloaded 3 pdf files from my Android Gmail and saved it in sd card. But a while ago I found that they no longer exist anywhere on my phone wtf. How did it get deleted? I didn't remove sd card directly and I've rebooted my phone twice in hope that those files would appear back but they didn't.
Is my phone compromised or what? How to know that

I know my lg has a feature called smart cleaner. And if im not careful it will delete downloaded files and apps that I have not touched for a while

This is why I make it a habit of not using stock cleaning applications baked into the operating system by any given OEM installing Android to Carrier specifications.
It's merely experience learned over time mayhap.

Well guys. I have Redmi 4 (not note) Marshmallow. Few weeks ago it was auto rebooted and there was no phone update going on. That made me paranoid lol. I'd been opening these deleted pdfs files every now and then , so how could the stock cleaner delete them? My phone runs fast. No suspicious battery drainage, no odd photographs in my gallery. So my phone isn't compromised I guess.

That could *potentially* have been caused by the scheduled cleaning setting of the application in question.

Open Overclocker (WTF >_>)

I find it strange that this App seems to try to open itself upon startup.....even after I have wiped twice switching ROMs. How is it even on there?
|Spike|
Probably stores information somewhere else on the phone than normal. adb shell your phone and look for it manually

Hmm odd.. I wrote that app and I made an activity that starts on startup the normal way... not sure why it would still be there after a wipe... *shrug*
I had a similar issue with another app. No matter how many times I wiped, there it was. I think the Market got "wonky" and was downloading it each time I started up for the first time after a wipe. Almost seemed the market website didn't get notified of the successful download/install and was trying to "finish" the download upon signing back on.
whats the problem? uninstall it if you don't like it. personally, I think its a great application and I use it daily.
What should you keep your settings on with this app, both high and low. Also after applying the numbers do you need to reboot?

Seems like a silly question, but do you use apps on SD card.
One of my favorite features of doing that is that I dont actually have to reinstall after wiping, just redo the simlink
Argh! Stupid browser double posting

That depends on personal preference. I keep mine at 528/528 'cause I like me some speed
EDIT: forgot the second half of your post, you don't need to reboot after applying.
ive never been able to get open over clocker to do ANYTHING, i put values in the box hit apply and nothing happens... reboot... cpu at same speed.... its like the button just does nothing, tried the standalone app and dudecake.9 with it integrated. it hasnt ever caused me any problems and removing it worked fine for me, it just never did much of anything at all for me
are you using the dude's build? he included the app in his builds until this last build

How do I get my PAID APPS back on Froyo?

Hey guys, I've read intermittent pieces of advice so far, but I know I can't be the only person dealing with the fact that none of my paid apps are in the market. Is this dependent on the developer or is there something I need to do?

What does this mean?
Google have released an update before adding it's signature to the market?
Seems like an odd way to go about doing stuff to me.
Quite a few apps seem to be missing (drocap, Tower Raiders Gold)
SC
Plenty of paid apps on mine. Did you wipe before installing?
Lots of apps are marked 2.1 only by the devs.. until they get updates they won't show.
Are the apps that you specifically paid for showing up, or just apps that you have to pay for overall?
Both.. I have a long list of old apps that I bought ages ago and don't use any more, plus the usual collection of 'highlighted' new paid apps on the main screen.

As far as I know Google didn't release the update. It was pushed to members of the press and employees at Google. I've yet to see any evidence that it was pushed to a significant portion of the customerbase.
hmmm...I am pretty sure I wiped the data/cache/dalvik cache before I installed but I can try again.

Do you have a "Top Paid" tab in the market? Mine doesn't (see attached pic)
SC
Yes. Same as 2.1, basically..
Yeah I have the Top Paid category. But what's interesting is that when I wipe the device and reboot it, during the initial setup it restores all of the applications that I didn't pay for automatically. I have a feeling that maybe this is the issue, but I'm not sure how to turn that off.
It's supposed to do that for all apps, but it's never worked for me.. I always have to pull them back with Titanium Backup.
lol, thats interesting because it never did that for me before I updated to Froyo.

That's one feature that's always worked really well for me.

i see my paid apps but they are an older version. for example MetaMorph only shows as version 1.9 when the current is 1.9.8.5
Most of my paid apps are there, but I am missing a few key ones. Docs to Go Key is a main one that I need.

Same here. With all the ROMs (Stock or otherwise) that I've used I've always had to restore the apps using another program.
all the protected apps are gone..titanium backup is your friend
thats the wierd thing tho. When I tried to use titanium backup to restore my apps it said that it doesn't have root access. Did you have this problem on froyo?

32kb nameless app

I have a Droid Bionic that just got the ICS update and I have noticed an app that has no name and is 32kb in size. As I am generally picky about what I install, I checked the permissions of this app, and found it is pretty intrusive, even though only three permissions. It has modify/delete sd card contents and delete all application cache data.
I have never seen this on any of my previous phones (DX, DX2, and Bionic) prior to this ICS update. Can anyone tell me what this is and if disabling it will cause the phone to not work correctly?
For the record, it is not a rooted phone. Mostly stock with launcher and keyboard apps only for customization.
Thanks
Tim

Did you ever figure this out? I have the same thing... really bothers me. It appears to be part of the system as you can't uninstall it, only disable it
I don't know, but I am disabling it to test if it will affect my phone in any way.
But I would say it's possible that this is a patch for Jelly Bean, as they are working on putting it on the Bionic right now. Perhaps if somebody can check the app's code, than we'll know what it's doing there.
I was going to ask about this file but found this thread. I just disabled it - let' see what happens.

It's gotta be part of ICS, I flash to stock 4.0 using RSD light and it's still there. I would still like to know what it is though...
I was hoping to bump this thread as this un-named app showed its ugly face on my unrooted Droid Bionic. I have called VZW and Motorola and after hours on the phone between the 2, they both said the same thing, factory reset!
I tried to clean off my sD Card, and again, factory reset, and again... there it is!
Any progress on this? It seem nefarious in light of all the privacy concerns that have recently come to light.
Thanks all,
Bry.

If you install "rootappdelete" from the google apps. It is at the top of the list in System Apps.
Open it and you will find it is a Verizon installer... VZWInstaller.apk... 45.62KB
Located in /vendor/app/
Remove at your leisure. But, You may not be able to get new Verizon apps or updates. The only useful app I have from Verizon is Emergency Alerts. I live in Florida... storm central.

android.process.media

The years go by and an ancient bug still resists.. "android.process.media" still scans all sdcard folders searching for media files and it takes AGES and a lot of battery, even in folders with a ".nomedia" file. This is specially grotesque with folders like "clockworkmod/blobs", which has 3870 sub-folders...
ps.: I'm using vanir 4.4.4

Yes I know. It was a generic Android complaint
But theses "fixes" are actually a "hack": They will just prevent it from happening (workaround) or completely disable it.. the media scanner IS a good thing, but not the way it is being done..

Recovering deleted files

Hi guys,
I just recently deleted an important videos in which I thought I have backed up already but in reality it isn't backed up.
It is totally gone from Gallery and Google Photos and from both Trash.
The phone is not rooted as I need to use Samsung Knox for some reasons.
Any ideas or suggestions?

There's good PC programs that can retrieve it. Doing on phone it's self usually requires root.

I haven't used one of those programs in a while sorry. There's a lot of them out there. Just search google you will find one. Not to familiar with that program stellar. But maybe look in its settings, there might be an option for it already with phones. If that fails and you wanna go cheap route. Search for open sourced 1s.
