So I have 4.3, and ever since, when the phone starts into Android, there is always a lock screen where you have to swipe the lock in the center away to get to the home screen. I want to disable this so that it simply boots into the home screen. I'm fairly certain to do this I'll need to edit my build, I'm just wondering exactly what I need to edit to accomplish this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I don't know if this helps, but i accidentaly found this "glitch" that lets my phone without the lockscreen and enter the phone just by pressing the power button
I installed Windows 8 Lock Screen app from Play Store, I checked it to be the default locker, but after that, after I played around with it, I decide not to keep it active and I unchecked the "Default Locker option". After this, apparently, I have no lock screen whatsoever... Just press the power button and the phone is unlocked

HTC have removed the option to have no screen lock at all, you have to have something (which is responsible IMO)

Actually, this issue only came up once I installed the 401 5.5 4.3. My native is developer 1540 4.3, which does not have this. Good to know it's most likely a sense 5.5 addition, as I can request the next toolbox include an option to disable this.
Edit: For those interested, I seem to have found a happy accident that exploits the lockscreen coming up every time the phone goes dark. By installing the Windows 8 Lockscreen app from the play store, setting it as the default lockscreen, utilizing it a few times, then disabling it, when I restarted the phone, the only time the lockscreen came up was during the initial startup. Nothing after that. The power button got me directly to the homescreen. I also have no lock installed with locking disabled. Obviously, all it would take is a simple xposed module or app to isolate this and get it to the masses, but for now, this seems to work for me. I hope it works for you as well.

Yeah, HTC removed it
In KitKat, pressing the power button or swiping up after a Moto Wave would skip the lock screen and go straight to android.
In Lollipop, pressing the power button brings up the lock screen. Swiping up from the Moto Wave screen flashes the lock screen briefly, then goes to android.
I don't remember how I had disabled the lock screen in KK, but in LP security->screenlock settings, there is no option to disable the lock screen.
Any thoughts?
Going to Settings > Security > Screen lock, and changing your setting to None will disable the lockscreen.

As per my original post, LP settings do not give you a 'none' option.

I've read in another forum that removing the "Guest" user solved this problem. Others said running "Clear credentials" in the Security options helped them.

By lockscreen, do you possibly mean the keyboard (the one that shows notifications and you just swipe up on to remove)?
If so, mine does that too by pressing power. I just made a tasker task that turns the keyboard off and have it run at boot or if the screen is on. Keeps my PIN enabled when no Smart Lock conditions are met, but it now takes me straight to my home screen when I press the power button instead of using Moto's active display.
EDIT: wait, that always bypasses the PIN. Hmmmm
Its under settings-security-screen lock (1st setting).
Yes, it's the guest user issue. Funny thing is, I don't remember going into the Users settings (maybe the kids played with the phone).
For others reading, if you create another user or even use the Guest user once, LP disables the "none" option under Lock Screen.
It's silly how to fix it, though. You can't disable the Guest account from the settings page. You have to switch to the Guest user, then disable the Guest account from within the Guest environment. Which . . . doesn't actually disable the Guest account, since it still shows up in the User settings page.
In other words, not only is it unclear and unintuitive how to fix the problem, there's no visual indication in the UI that a change has initially occurred, or afterwards when the condition has been reversed.
Thanx for the replies.
I'm using Nova launcher on my X Performance, and I allowed the double-tap to wake up function. However, I am not able to wake my XP on with only 2 taps, I almost need to tap continuously to wake it up, for about 6 to 7 times. Even I use the original launcher Xperia Home, the tap to wake function is not working perfectly.
On the other hand, when I switch to the Xperia Home and use the double-tap to sleep function, it works every single time.
I didn't activate the Stamina mode so I believe the tap function is not restricted by the Stamina. I'm wondering this is due to the memory management of Android Marshmallow (The apps is more easily to restart on XP comparing with my old phone Z2 which is still using Android 5.X)?
Does anyone using X Performance also facing this problem? Any solution to this?

if you have a screen protector, it does not work well.

Hey Chrisy,
I didn't have any issues with it working, but I did notice the option for double-tap to sleep was ONLY available when Home Launcher was set as default. I too have used Nova FOR YEARS, but I like double-tap to sleep too much, so I am using Home Launcher as well. lol
I would maybe try a factory reset and if that doesn't work, I would return the phone and get a replacement. Unless you do use a screen protector (which I don't)? Then perhaps kms' statement does apply to you and you just need to remove it? If not, and factory reset doesn't fix it, I'd return it. Could be a sign of other issues to come.

Yes, I'm using a glass screen protector. Maybe I will consider to remove it or change it in later time, since I don't want to waste it lol
I've bought and used Nova for a long time (I loves its backup function), but now I switch to the Home Launcher too lol At least the Home Launcher is customizable (though not as much as Nova does). Nova offers the tap-to-sleep function too, but it seems that on Marshmallow (or Sony device exclusively? I don't know), once the device is locked by third party apps, you cannot unlock it again with fingerprints (passcode/pin/pattern is needed to unlock in this situation). If I use Nova to tap-to-sleep, I need to use passcode to unlock it and the fingerprint sensor would do nothing. Sigh
chrisy,
YW.
Oh ok. Then that's most likely it then. Up to you when and/or if you want to remove it. lol
Yeah I used Nova's backup option too before. Yeah I'm glad Home lets you customize some things at least.
Yeah the lockscreen gets in the way and you have to enter PIN each time, which pretty much KILLS any enjoyment had with having the fingerprint scanner. lol I think the same issue happened on my S7, so I don't think it's just Sony (fortunately).
Nova is better but in this case it just makes more sense to stick with Home. I take screenshots of my apps that are on my desktop so on future phones I will know exactly which ones to put there w/o having to think about it. I recommend doing that too since Home doesn't have a backup feature like the one Nova does.
Does anyone have problem using fingerprint to unlock the screen??
I dont really like locking screen using power button but rather use gesture and apps. After updating to Android N EVA-L19C626B320 Official. I cannot normally unlock the screen like before. It keeps asking for password every single time.
EXCEPT when I use power button to lock the phone.
Any idea?

It's normal. Since it not a "user (you)" action but an "admin (you by an app)" action, the system protects your data. You'll not be able to "fix" this since it's supposed to work like this.

I found out that Nova launcher let the choice to the user how to lock the screen :
By administrator (you won't be able to use fingerprint scanner to unlock)
By displaying a black screen while waiting for the phone to go in sleep mode (you will be able to use fingerprint scanner to unlock)

Yeah I just contact Nova's developer and they claim to be an issue now.
"Unfortunately this is a known issue in which there is a pop-up window within Nova that tells you about this and that there is a work around if you are rooted. Unfortunately there's no native work around if you're not rooted, however, you can go to the Google Play Store and purchase Screen Lock Pro(this app is not ours) and you can use it as a work around for this issue as well."
I'm having fingerprint problems too. It does not let me set up a new fingerprint anymore and doesn't work in any situation. Worked perfectly since 1 day ago. Using the beta 7.0 android... Any tips?

Your problem is a bit troublesome. Try reset?
I tried to reset, but it still does the same. I did a backup restore and didn't try to use the fingerprint before that. I'll try again tomorrow and see what happens.
Still no hope of fixing the issue din
You need to disable smart unlock. Go to Settings>Security>Trusted Agents disable any smart unlock enabled.
Additional: If you're using Greenify you must enable the "Alternate Screen Off Mode"

Did you find any solution? I have the same issue
If you have root there are two apps that I know of that work perfectly for locking the screen through software:
-->Gesture Control, works very well, just assign any gesture to screen off.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontrol&hl=de
and
-->Boeffla Screen off, has a slight delay between pressing the button and the screen actually locking, ~1sec nothing bad, but otherwise works very well. Also you can assign this app as an "assist app" meaning your long press home button becomes your screen off button
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.andip71.screenoff&hl=de
If you don't have root I guess this would be a reason to go for it!

Firstly,
it depends what "Samsung phone" you got.. a Note 9 or what?
Secondly,
as far as i know ? ,
if you use a 3rd party lockscreen app, you canot use Fingerprint etc to lock/ unlock and certain other apps eg like some banking apps.
You have to use a stock (Samsung) method.
Good lock 2018, is only available to certain markets,
worldwide.
I do not have option to install Good lock 2018.
I have installed standalone, NavStar app (Samsung)
(ApkMirror website)
which i believe is part of Good lock 2018.
It has navbar lockscreen option.
Works fine, no issues.
I'm sure there is other Samsung options also. eg Edge panels etc.
See screenshot
If you don't mine an onscreen floating button, you could use the Assistant menu found under Accessibility, Dexterity and interaction to get a floating always on button. You select the features that you want or turn off all the features except the lock one.
you can just set it to lock after 5 seconds when the screen goes off.
Nova Launcher Prime is another option - You can use gestures to screen lock by double-tapping screen or double-tapping the status bar.
Sorry not mentioned , it's Samsung Note 9. I tried install Good lock 2018, but can't use.

Then you are in same boat as me.
I couldn't install Good lock 2018 directly, due to market restrains, etc.
I had to separately in install each standalone app
that's included in Good Lock 2018.
I downloaded these standalone apks.
from ApkMirror website, also i had to download
Activity Manager (free) from Google Play .
It's an app to create shortcuts, to enable you to access each standalone app settings, as it the apps
won't appear in app drawer.
See screenshot, for
some of standalone apps (Good lock 2018) and Activity Manager app.

Use the Navistar "add a button".
Just on screen lock put the nav bar with the off button.
