Jelly scrolling display issue - Lenovo Zuk Z2 Pro Questions & Answers

Did anyone notice jelly scrolling on your display -> similar to OP5 case? -> https://www.theverge.com/2017/6/29/1...ling-statement
I did some research and came to this conclusion: It's actually not a problem. It's kind of FEATURE. Or flaw to be precise. AMOLED display are causing this issue, which is not visible to everyone (depend on eyesight). But it's not noticable if display is correctly installed in device. If it's installed upside down, it's noticeable. Similar issue got OP5. Just try to open browser, turn your phone upside down and start scrolling -> you wont notice jelly effect anymore (if you can see jelly effect in normal orientation of display). Strange that ZUK or OP didn't think about it during developing their phone. Such a pity. But nevertheless, we got some special FEATURE

Losing precision with S-Pen after ICS update?

I am not entirely sure, but it seems to me that I have lost some precision with the S-Pen after I updated to ICS. When I am writing I have a feeling that the drawn line is slightly off the "pencil point" then before, maybe only for a fraction of a millimeter which is affecting the text, it seems much worse now.
When I am writing something it seems a bit more "unnatural" then before.
The only calibration I have found so far is the left-right handed set-up and it is set-up correctly for me.
Anyone else notice this?
I too have noticed this, Although I cant compare it to GB because i flashed ICS within minutes of getting the Note.
I have googled for the calibration methods but none of them work, They all relate to turning on / off the auto rotation and tapping the pen in 4 corners.
Could really do with a proper screen calibration tool
My drawing is pretty pathetic at the best of times, but with this inaccuracy im getting bullied on Draw Something
There is app on Google Play Store with which you can off set Spen position on the screen. It's called Touchscreen tune. It's not free to make changes permanent but you can try it to see if it works for you.
So nothing for unrooted devices?
Has the JB update fixed this issue for those who have updated their firmware?
No, it hasn't fixed the issue however there is a program in google play that fixes it (albeit you have to pay for the full version). It is called touchscreentune (galaxy note) - you can change the offset of the tip and also change things like the sensitivity if the screen. I can confirm that it works on most XXLSZ ROMS with Philz (haven't checked it on pure samsung JB).

Lots of issues after updated to Android 9 Pie (Mi A2)

After my Mi A2 was updated from Android 8 O to Android 9 P, I have to face lots of bugs and some serious issues. Although I already tried factory resetting, it doesn’t help. Many A2 users also face these issues.
1. Portrait Mode – Unable to focus on any other subjects, except a subject in the middle of the frame. That means whenever you touch on the screen to focus, focusing does not work for you at all. This is one of most serious issues for users who love photography.
2. Fingerprint Scan – Significantly slower scanning speed. Very annoying.
3. Screen Brightness Dropping – When I was on Android 8 O, I always adjusted the brightness scale to 30-40% and it’s bright enough. But now, for Android 9 P, I have to slide the scale to 70-80% so I can see the screen clearly. (Adaptive Brightness already turned off)
+++ There's an explanation that this screen brightness change is not a bug. Find out more here: https://forums.androidcentral.com/g...ubt-about-display-brightness-android-pie.html
Thanks @Varun.Shanbhag for the information. +++
4. Heating Issue – I’ve noticed that while charging the phone, when it was on Android 8 O, the temperature never got more than 39°C, but now, on Android 9 P, it sometimes gets to 41°C. (Refer to the app ‘Ampere’)
Moreover, when using camera, it gets hot too quickly.
However, I am not sure if there’s only me facing this overheating issue.
It is likely to be caused by CPU freq. issue stated in the following thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/help/little-cpu-stucks-1401-mhz-min-freq-t3851184
5. Touch Screen – Touch screen seems to be less responsive than before. I can notice its latency. Sometimes I have to double tap the screen to get something done, because the first tap does not respond. (It can be easily noticed this issue with back button)
6. Lower Audio Volume – Some users say that they're facing lower audio volume issue when using earphones or headphones.
7. Face ID - Face ID doesn't work stably, it sometimes works and sometimes does not.
8. Front Flash Issue - front flash doesn't work when I turn it on in camera app. (But it works when set it as 'Auto')
9. Black Banding on Camera Screen - There're black bandings appear on the screen while using camera app, they look like signal noise appears on TV.
10. Camera App Crashes - Camera sometimes crashes, for example, the camera app says "Camera Error - Can't connect to camera" when I switch the camera from back to front in Portrait Mode.
11. Whole system seems to be less stable than it was in Android Oreo.

I'm not sure about beep and screen randomly wake up, but the laggy LED pulse happens to me, that makes me annoyed sometimes ?
I also found that the LED issue has appeared since Android 8 O.
yeah the laggy led looks so cheap and retro like it was used in the last century ???
Hey guys, i just updated to pie December update, and the wifi tethering band locked to 2,4Ghz, any way to enable the 5ghz?
Really considering flashing the custom Pixel Experience ROM. Having a lot of bugs on Pie. Did the factory reset. None of them gone.
Any suggestions ? Should I just go for Custom. Or should I wait for next update ?

About the heating problem probably your cpu stacks at 1401 mhz when charging. Check it with cpu spy. This was happened to me with pie.

I think Xiaomi should fix these bugs ASAP, seems there're too much troubles here, as if we are using extremely unstable buggy custom rom LOL.

Thanks for your information, I've added it to the list. I also hear about Face ID issue on Pie, so you can be sure that there's not only you are facing haha.
I feel kinda sad with this update. We should report all the problems to Xiaomi as much as we can, just hope the dev can hear our voices.

Oreo is ok, i have downgrade my phone after some hours using pie. Pie for me it is in early beta.
How can we report about this ?
Gps problems
I'm also having issue with lags. Fingerprint scanner is lagging from time to time.. Overall daily task from switching apps to bring back to home screen also lags.
Disabling adaptive brightness seems to help improve the lag so far...

I just got my Global A2, 4/64 two days ago. Updated to Pie and have Dec Patch.
1) Portrait works fine. I can focus on any part of the scene and that subject will be in focus. Works quickly and reliably.
2) Fingerprint scan is quick with zero issues holding my finger at any angle. No lag whatsoever.
3) I went straight to Pie, so had zero experience with Oreo on the A2, but screen brightness behaves similar to the Moto G5+ that I had before. Adaptive brightness also behaves the same.
4) I never checked the phone with Oreo, but when charging on Pie, the phone feels cool to the touch. Cooler than my Moto G5+. BTW, I am using the OEM Moto QC 3.0 charger with the A2.
5) Touch screen is as responsive as my Moto G5+ and my Wife's Moto G6.
6 and 7) I don't use headphones or Face ID.

Everything is working perfectly. No lag choosing focus points in portrait, no lag using the finger print sensor, no lag using the screen, adaptive brightness, heat issues etc.? That all the behavior I am seeing would be better with Oreo?

Weird glitch when phone is in dark mode (colour shifting when taping display)

Hi everyone,
Got my Pixel 4 XL on the 23rd and been playing around with it since then. I am now settling into a rhythm and noticed a very concerning glitch with the display when the phone is in dark mode. Basically, when the phone is in dark mode I noticed that typing in Gboard or tapping anywhere on screen in apps that are not pure black (such as Messages, Phone, etc.) will shift the screen colour from blueish-black to greenish-black. This happens every time, even after rebooting the device. There is no visible colour shifting in apps that use pure-black such as Settings (however, parts of Settings like the search bar that are the "gray" dark colour also shift). Once I noticed this happening now I cannot stop noticing it everywhere. I am looking to find out from you whether you are seeing the same thing or whether this may be a device problem. Note that the same issue shows up in dark apps even if dark mode is not enabled. It also has nothing to do with Ambient EQ, Automatic Brightness, or anything else of similar nature. Occasionally the problem stops, but if I pull up Gboard and start typing (say to search in the Recent section of the phone app) the problem immediately comes back.
I am looking for serious feedback here from those willing to look closely. This does seem like a software glitch to me, rather than hardware, especially since I am not seeing this behaviour with any other colours and so far it definitely has something to do with physical interaction with the screen when tapping on it. As I said, it also seems to be universally triggered by Gboard when in apps running in dark mode.
I appreciate any feedback you can provide.
Edit: Looks like what I'm observing is related to the switching colour profiles when the display is going back and forth between 60Hz and 90Hz. Turning off the smooth display function or forcing the display into permanent 90Hz mode appears to stop the problem from happening. Google really messed this one up. I hope their 90Hz fix they promised clears up this issue. Very annoyed ?
Thanks,
Dejan
Btw, since you are using forced 90hz display make sure to have always on display on. If you don't your greys will be purple and lower brightness as well as lots of black smear/crush. I don't know how turning on always on display solved that issue (someone posted this fix in another thread). So it indeed doesn't seem to be hardware but software related and hopefully they will tune this over time.

Yeah, I saw that thread. Some funky stuff going on with display calibration and 90Hz. Since I know that the HW is not defective and the SW is the source of the issue I am less bothered now (I cannot stand exchanging HW). I haven't specifically observed that effect on my phone and while I did try forcing 90Hz, I actually went back to the stock setting since I noticed that forced 90Hz further sucked down the battery that already is not particularly stellar despite this being the XL version. I presume Google will refine the 90Hz calibration and function over the next few months. I will say though that I am a bit confused why they need to have different calibration at different refresh rates. I calibrate all of my desktop monitors and despite the fact that I have a 100Hz monitor I never have to change calibration with refresh rate. Maybe an OLED thing

I just noticed this on my pixel 4 xl tonight. But It only happens when the proximity sensor is triggered. Ex: like after making a phone call except it made everything on the screen seem over saturated on the screen and well as the same color shift you had stated. It seems to go away once I lock the device and unlock it again. It did it with smooth display on and off as well as force 90hz on and off.
There are a couple threads discussing this. Here's one of them:

Low Brightness Flicker (LineageOS & Stock too?)

Hi, sorry if this was posted before, but with XDA moving to XenForo, search seems messed up, i did several searches and nothing comes up for "flicker" in this whole Pixel 4 XL Forum...
Has anyone else dealt with the low brightness screen flicker? I know it can't be just a bad phone, since i just bought three pixel 4 XL phones and they all exhibit this same behavior.
They are all running LineageOS (Official builds) so I don't know if this just affects the ROM or stock as well (although I've read it might affect stock phones too elsewhere).
It makes the phone pretty difficult to use in very low light situations, the screen will constantly flicker (more noticeable on darker backgrounds).
At first I thought it was just the Opera browser (as that's what I prefer), but it's operating system wide... Apps like "Darker" help.... because you can crank up the phone brightness and use a filter to dim the screen.... but it doesn't get the top & bottom menu/buttons, so those remain like spotlights in your eyes with that workaround.
Just curious if anyone knows whats up with this... it's the only phone I've ever seen this behavior on (and i've used Pixel 1,2,3 XL phones all with Lineage, and a myriad of other devices back in the Cyanogenmod days.... I've never seen a screen flicker issue like this).
Thanks for any help
edit / update-
the pro version of "darker" app works to fix this.... you crank the phones brightness to 100% and with the pro version you can dim the rest of the interface.
hopefully this helps anyone else suffering from this HUGE flaw (again i don't know if its just LineageOS or not, i didn't run stock on these except to unlock bootloader etc)
Hi,
I've seen it once and solved it by switching off smooth display. Not a real solution of course, but I never really noticed the difference between 90Hz and 60Hz anyway.

Question Random lag after update on QHD 120Hz

Hello,
I've updated to coloros12 and i wasn't able to change the wallpaper of the phone, so, I decided to do a factory reset
After 2 factory resets, (one trought the recovery and other from the menu) I've found that phone have some lag during some animations, like swiping to show all apps, navigating trought apps, also on twitter when you scroll on the main feed, specially when i open twitter after many hours it lags as hell (like an old slow phone)
so, when i got the phone a month ago it was very fluid but now i don't know if something got broken or if it's a software issue
All this happens having QHD enabled and 120Hz
Does anyone have the same issue? is this a bug? is there a dffefrent way to do a new factory reset?
thanks for all your repplies
Not sure if my phone has the same issue or similar. After the update to android 12 when the phone is set to Dark Mode and going through the pictures in Gallery the screen lights up and it feels like is flickering, also feels a bit slower. When in light mode everything seems to be working fine. Is no difference in FHD+ or QHD and at 120Hz
I'll open another thread for this.
Edit: The problem seems to be isolated and is only happening when using the Gallery app at 120Hz, the screen flickering starts and the gallery is very slow. I've installed another gallery app and seems to be working fine.
