Coming from an iPhone, the touchscreen on the Note 5 is way too sensitive for me. If I move my finger 2mm away from the screen, it still registers that I am touching it. Makes typing extremely cumbersome.
I'm wondering if there is any way, rooted or otherwise, to decrease the sensitivity so that the screen only registers touches when I am actually touching it.
Thanks for any help!
by default it is. you have the option to increase sensitivity.
edit: I can't seem to find the settings for it, now. but the info said something about it being useful for when wearing gloves.
maybe adding a tempered glass screen protector can give you just the right sensitivity you're looking for. I know the one on my iPhone reduced the sensitivity a bit. and you gain some protection at the same time.
keep in mind.. if you root, you may trip Samsung's KNOX and no longer be able to use Samsung Pay.

That was a note 4 option, they removed it for the 5.
How do I turn down the sensitivity on my Samsung galaxy note 4 edge
So I want to keep the Note 5 as perfect as possible until we (hopefully) will see the next Note device.
The fingerprint feature is a must to me and I was wondering if there's any film/tempered glass for the HOME button that still lets the service work flawlessly?
Nevermind I just found the answer!:laugh:

I tried it on the S7 edge and presto it works!
I've tried everything. It works fine with the screen on, but that's not really useful.
I have edge lighting set to "always", and I've selected the apps to use with edge lighting, but it still won't work with the display off. I've tried it both with and without the always on display on, too.
Any suggestions?
You're not the only one. Heard it is corrected and works with Oreo beta from a user in the Samsung community.
Mine works for text messages, but I can't get it to work for Gmail. Even with it set to go off for gmail, it doesn't. Maybe instead of waiting for Oreo, they should fix some of these things now.
Works just on Samsung text for me only.

That's frustrating. Could be months before we see Oreo. Why not just push an update to fix it now?
i had this problem before and to fix it just set the edge lighting to "when screen is off" then call yourself and see, if it works change it back to "always" and test
seems to work if you can turn on popup notification inside the app you want to use for edge light. whatsapp, telegram works for example. but I don't like that popup which appears when you turn on the screen..

Amy news, guys? I don't know why Samsung offers the option screen off if it doesn't work..
Turn on pop up notifications in WhatsApp to get edge lighting work on screen off

You don't have the apps selected in edge screen to hide sensitive so content on the lock screen do you?

No I don't I only enabled Edge Lighting for Telegram and WhatsApp and both show the content in lock screen, but the Edge Lighting only happens when the device is unlocked/screen on.

I wish it would work for everything too believe me. Some apps I have selected don't show even when the screen is on my whatsapp does and my text do but they don't show with it off either
Edge lighting only works for snapchat if the option to turn on the screen is enabled. It seems that edge lightning relies on apps to turn on the screens and interprets it as edge lighting.
I have the official Oreo on mt S8 plus, and it only works on screen off f I have popup notifications on.
I add that even with this, the edge lighting will not work on screen off when the phone is turned screen down, facing the table totally strait, it needs to be tilted for edge lighting to work.
This is USELESS, this is not only beauty and show off features, we do not really need it to work when the phone is on in my hand only.
Nowadays lots of us would put the phone on the table face down for many reasons, ring holder on the back, force always on display to turn off but still need to see edge lighting.
So it would be good feature to add which applications uses edge lighting when screen off.
This problem only occurs with whatsapp I guess, I tried it with Viber, and it works without popup messages, aith screen off and phone turned down on it"s face

Thanks mate... really bad to hear am that... edge stuff is a really good feature but if it doesn't work is really frustrating. Hope to Samsung fix this annoying issue.
Hi, I wonder what's experience of others but I haven't noticed any effect of the game mode's edge screen lock, still getting a loooot of unintended edge touches just from holding the phone. There are different grips possible, but I keep changing them as hands get tired. I haven't seen any setting to tweak this feature, any other way to address this? Thank you
Just got my S10 today and I already noticed a big problem. If I try to tap anything near both the left and right edges in the middle of my display, nothing happens or things hang up. For instance, using the Samsung keyboard, I can't press either 1 or 0. It is repeatable with other apps as well.
It seems to be a software issue with the edge panels because it is in the region of the screen that shows the "edge". However, turning edge off has no effect on the problem. Also tried turning on Touch sensitivity but no help. If I go to developer options and enable pointer location, all areas of the screen respond, even the edge area, so it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue.
I took off my case but that didn't fix it either. I could try taking off the screen protector but I'd hate to ruin it if that's not the problem.
Anyone else having this problem? I'd hate to RMA a phone 2 days before its official release lol.
I am having similar issues with my S10+ towards the middle lower right or middle lower left of the screen. I'm sending mine back for a new one. I've tried every fix imaginable and still no joy. Hopefully the new phone will be better, otherwise it might be an issue with the new screens! What a bummer!

Samsung turns down sensitivity on the edge to prevent accidental touches. Try downloading Good Lock on Galaxy Store, then download Edgo Touch from Good Lock to adjust sensitive region.
Try turning off 'accidental touch protection'
Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
Accidental protection is for dark environment where it prevent touched in pockets. It likely won't be what's causing the insensitivity for them on the edge of the phone.
With Samsung's Edge Touch app, it'll let you adjust the sensitive zone on the edge of the phone.
