So in my lockscreen I can't turn airplane mode on or turn phone off while the phone is locked but it will let me have access to my files through USB? What kind of security is this? I know I can disable this from USB debugging but if I do that it won't let me have access at all to my files.

Security is fine without USB debugging. Choosing to turn it on is understandable, but it does have implications...

I am trying to root my phone with the 4ever root 1-click app. My phone needs to be in Charge Only mode when connected to the PC. However, the mode automatically changes to PC Mode and I can't figure out how to keep that from happening. Any help? Thanks.

When you connect your phone, a notification icon appears up top. Open the pull down menu, touch the notification, and it will let you change the mode.
So I am trying to unlock this Captivate and I Enabled the USB Debugging option when it's plugged into the computer. Problem is, when I actually connect it to the computer, the device doesn't go into USB debugging mode. Any help on this would be appreciated!

I had this problem few times. I had to pull the battery out and restart the phone. Doesn't hurt in trying this.
has anyone came up with a solution?
I cant seem to turn USB debugging on, that prevents me from rooting and installing a Recovery, very annoying, any way of fixing that ?

Is your trouble on the phone or on PC? you don't need to have USB debugging to be on for Rooting.
Was your USB cable plugged in while trying to turn it on?? USB debugging can't be toggled with USB plugged.

I tried both unplugged and plugged. When I was trying to assign a custom app for debugging it wont list anything. Kinda fixed it by running a separate USB Debugging app with busybox.
Was trying to unlock the bootloader.
One more thing, I've been waiting for like 5 minutes now for the bootloader to unlock, it gives me a "Running factory reset for the first Bootloader Unlock :lease Wait::" is that normal ?

I have the same problem. How I can fix it?
I have the Canadian Note 5 N920W8 and USB Debugging is greyed out and I can't find anyway to turn it on. Can someone help me with this?
Thanks
Maybe try restarting the device? I've got USB Debugging available to me on my N920W8. I don't know if there's a way to hide developer options and re-enable it, but I'd try that as well to see.
Thanks for your reply. Tried Power Off, restart, turned Developer Option off rebooted then turned the DO back on but still USB debugging is greyed out.
Do you think Factory Data reset would help?

Problem Solved:
Found out that My Knox removes the USB Debugging option. Uninstalled My Knox and the USB Debugging is now working.

Ah, glad to see you've fixed it! I disabled any Knox features so that would probably explain why mine wasn't greyed out.
no matter what I do, my xz1c remains unauthorized whenever I attempt to connect via adb. I've scoured the internet and tried everything. has anyone had this issue with their xz1c and resolved it? I'd like to debloat my phone, but cannot because I cannot fully use adb. any ideas?

enable developer options - enable usb debug
1. Turn off usb debugging and developer options
2. Restart your phone
3. Turn on developer options and usb debugging
4. Plug in usb cable
5. Watch your phone screen carefully for an authorization dialog - and accept this. If you skip it, or cancel it by accident then you need repeat above steps.
6. ADB is now authorized.
I tried exactly this. Still "unauthorized".
Maybe current update of Android 9 blocks it.
