What issue? The glass sitting too low or too high on the bezel?

See the part thats circled? how its darker than the rest of the glass? thats not a smudge for some reason the glass is darker than the rest of the glass

That's weird, can you post another picture with a clean screen.

Looks like an issue with the oleophobic layer??

That's weird. Fortunately I don't have that issue

You cant see when you clean the screen/glass. its so weird. both my first note and the replacement have had it

Does it look exactly the same on all the examples you have seen? Kind of looks like the black border on the underside of the screen is separating from the glass, like the paint or whatever they use. I just looked at mine very closely & I don't see anything like that on mine.

Idk but i went into the telstra shop today and they acknowledged that its an issue. Weirdly the display model in store had the same issue!?

It's the Oleophobic (fingerprint resistant) layer on the glass's surface.

Stain on the screen

I have recently discovered a big stain on the top left corner of my 16GB screen. I'm not sure where it came from. I've used it for a few days when I decided to wipe it down with a microfiber cloth to no avail. The stain is on the outside of the glass. It feels rougher than the rest of the glass and especially noticeable when running over it with a stylus. I've also tried to wipe it down with a little bit of water, and noticed it beads differently than the rest of the glass.
Not sure what I can do to remedy this. I just might have to return it to Staples.
If you can simply return it then I wouldn't chance trying to fix it.
Strange problem.
That's what you get for drinking coffee and using your nexus 7.
But seriously though, just return it.

The exact same thing happened to me after a day but in the middle, no idea how to fix it, also have screen lifting though so im getting a new one from Play story haha
does it look like it is just under the surface of the glass or on top of the glass, could be a problem with the glue etc which should be a returnable thing, you could have put something hot on the screen maybe and its done something with the glue?

it's definitely on on top of the glass
the stain is not that noticeable unless you view it from an angle.
i only came across it when I ran my fingers across it and felt the rough area.
Its the oleophobic coating rubbing off. I had this happen with my galaxy nexus.

Thank for the technical explanation!
RMA!
Did you get any kind of solvent or solvent residue on the screen?
Same Staining Issue
Thought it was a smudge. At least Google was quick to remedy the problem.
I have the same problem on mine. Its almost a perfect circle on the lower right hand side of the screen when in portrait mode. That spot was a real grease magnet.
Just cleaned off the screen and put on a screen protector and now it is no longer a problem.
I have the exact same mark/stain on mine, upper right portion, I've decided to live with it. It is identical though.

So a screen protector solved the issue and made your spot unnoticeable? I called ASUS (didn't get mine from the Play Store) and sounds like they're willing to do an RMA. Not sure if I want to go through that hassle though, especially if a screen protector will solve the problem... not sure what I'll get back since I don't have the screen lift or any other issues with it
Bro the trick is when you're watching "Videos" that usually come in Adobe Flash only to aim away from the device....you know coughing and...other......stuff.... J/k rofl glad a screen protector fixed it for ya but there must have been a solvent on the screen or even if you touched something and had residue on your hands that could do it also.

I have the same problem with the perfect circle on the bottom right in portrait mode! Was thinking whether I should request exchange from newegg or Asus. However as per Pixelens comment, my N7 don't have other issues with flickering, screen lift etc. It bothers me only when I switch the screen off and at the correct light reflection.

Note 4 chrome finish fine scratches

I'm not using a case and once you use cases, the chrome tends to get scratched up pretty bad.
How do you guys prevent it?
Can I buy a new body like I usually do with a note 2?
How do you fix the scratches? Visible in light but not dim light
Case prevents scratching
Yes but not to the chrome finish on the corners

This is Exactly what I'm worried about. No matter what you phone is, inside a case, it will get the small scratches due to dust and particles collecting inside the case. Those dust and particles will always be rubbing on your phone, rear and the metal/chrome. I guess this is not something you can avoid unless you go butt naked lol. Ah, what to do.

I have the same issue, i have a spigen ultra capsule case on it, and i have had it on the second the phone came out of the box. Now i have scratches on the top and bottom of the front side of the chrome bezel.
This stinks, makes me wonder why sammy didnt anodize the aluminum... ;(
Same here it made me mad but I guess since it's inside the case it won't bother me but indeed makes me mad ?

My only guess is to use a dremel to smooth it out? GRRRRRR...

That looks tempting, however, I'm curious how it'll do peeling off the gray coating? What lies beneath?
If you look at your USB 2.0 port, you'll see white around the edges....wonder if that's painted ceramic white?
I think our frame is both aluminum and magnesium.
Any takers on giving this a shot on the Note 4 and posting pictures? LOL ....

If i wasn't worried about scratching the gray area i would definitely try it. But for now I'll wait to see if anybody comes up with a better solution. I wish Samsung had made it brushed aluminum instead of chrome.

Yeah but here's what happens with one small drop with the s view flip cover, I'm soo mad! It actually don't even look as bad in the pictures, but they're actual chunks missing
yeah the metal is only a paper thin strip of metal wrap to a plastic frame.
Put a band-aid over it and perhaps a time for a case? Then you won't have to see the scars.

Everyone knows woman are the most clumsy. Yea I have scratches on my chrome. Bothered me a day that's it. I am very careful with my devices only time I'll **** up that bad is if I was Wasted! Which I hardly am never. Yea it will get scratched no matter how careful you are. I hate it to but I'm not anal about it either, I'm sure we can use vegetable oil to scuff it off. It's nothing would still be shiny .

Hi Nitemare3219,
My husband looked up some information about this for me shortly after I got my Note5 last month and as I recall the colours of the various tips that come with the phone indicate the Different Hardnesses. However I don't remember which colour is which Hardness.
¤Sent from my T-Mobile Galaxy Note5 ¤
I also noticed going from a glass to a plastic screen protector the feel is totally different and the spen loves to grab when the screen has just been cleaned.. never noticed this with the glass protector.
White/gray nib is hard plastic and black is a rubber nib. I prefer the white/gray nib as there is little to no resistance where the black rubber adds resistance.
I lost my S pen tips. Does anyone have a working link in India? I searched on amazon but no luck. Only note 3 tips are available. I am not sure if note 3 tips will work with note 5.

Unlocked Galaxy Note 8 Direct from Samsung, Sharp Edges?

I received my Unlocked Galaxy Note 8 Direct from Samsung today. Coming from the AT&T Galaxy s8+ on which the build quality was pretty phenomenal. Almost perfectly smooth edges where the glass meets the frame on the front and back. Perfect smooth feeling in the hand.
The very first thing I noticed when I took the Note 8 out of the box is the almost sharp feeling edges where the frame protrudes substantially further than the glass does. At first I thought maybe it was intentional to help protect the glass on impact if you were to drop it but it just feels terrible in the hand. Really *really* noticeable.
Has anybody else noticed this? Part of me hoping this is NOT normal and I can get a replacement and the other half of me wants everybody elses to be the same so I don't have to try to get a replacement. It really does feel "not right" in the hand though... not sharp like you could cut yourself but sharp enough to scrape skin off if you press hard.
For the full retail price I paid..... kinda bummed.
Mines the same. Purchased from Samsung direct a tmobile variant.

Sorry to hear that. I know I'd be gutted if my Note 8 arrived and it had an issue. I'm on a Note 3 so I've kinda been waiting for 4 years for this phone and the anticipation is killing me. I always put a case on my phones so I probably wouldn't be devo about it but it would still be disappointing. I'll let you know if mine has the same feel and lie to you if it doesn't.
Yeah, the edges are different due to the spen. Samsung made the edges closer to 90 degrees for spen usage, which gives more screen real estate to write on.

I knew that. I just wish the edge was smooth where the glass meets the frame. Basically my frame is substantially wider than the glass is, if that explains it better.

Bare-cases pane - Full Adhesive Tempered Glass

saw these guys on facebook (sponsored post) - looks interesting but i cant find any reviews of their products on youtube etc - no influences or anything!

they say its compatible with most cases as long as the lip isnt too high
anyone have any experience with them or any tempered glass they'd recommend (especially one thats compatible with the ringke fusion)
Well, looks promissing!

Zaggs tempered glass revision 2 has been on the money. I've placed this thing on twice. Once when I got it and, the second time, I removed it from my old unit after a screen burn-in replacement, and place it onto my new unit. No air bubbles and the glass feels high quality, comparable to Whitestone sans the complex installation. It sits on the screen only slightly curving to the edge, and it does sit flush without interfering with the edge tab if I choose to use it. It is quite expensive ($50) but imho, it's quite worth it after successful installation. Highly recommend it!

While I agree with you that it goes on nicely you didn't mention that since it doesn't cover as much screen as other protectors and also has black side bars you get a weird effect where there's screen, black bar, rest of the screen which is quite annoying.

yes there are black borders around SP which the top and bottom part aligns with the phone borders, so no issues there. Depending on an individual's taste, the side borders may be of concern. However, I made no mention of any weird effects as a result from the blk borders and / or the edges not being fully covered because I haven't experienced any negative effects thru general use of the phone. I must also mention, that in some apps, i.e. flipboard the first letters of words that display close to the edge of the screen may be partially blocked by the SP borders. But for me that's not a problem, as i don't experience this issue with most of the apps I use on a daily basis.

No I agree with you, I just thought people should know in case they're looking to purchase it. Like you said, 50 dollars is a lot for a SP especially if you didn't know the bars did that and it bothered you. I'll be keeping mine on until something better comes along, if ever.

i have tried these, good product in terms of clarity and touch sensitivity. the issue i had was that the vertical edges would easily crack with a bit of pressure as they dont seat on the screen as well as they should.
my current solution for using these is to remove the adhesive backing and reapply with loca adhesiveand cure with uv light.

Tested these a month ago. Cracked two working out bubbles. Glass quality is very bad. One cracked on the right side. The other on the bottom using a fingernail to work out a bubble. No chance that this is good 9h tempered glass. Opened a dispute and got both refunded. My opinion, not recommended.
Not recommended too, to narrow, covering edges with black bars completely.

Not recommended too, same bad glass like the one posted and cutting display on the bottom

ok so i purchased one and it arrived yesterday
while applying it i got some dust stuck under the protector, tried to take it out but it wouldnt move
applied it anyway and its pretty good except for the air bubbles near the curved sides of the screen (and the dust particles)
the protector is really fragile too, it chipped and cracked a corner while working out the bubbles - others have complained that theirs cracked for no reason
other than that it actually feels amazing and is compatible with the ringke fusion
ive contacted support, hopefully theyll send me out a new one
I wonder why they disabled comments in their video?
What's the best between this one and Dome Glas ?
I don't like the cut around speaker - face camera ...
A real full cover for front face is the most beautiful but may be not very good for quality of face camera ???
