Hi,
So I set up my Dex with my Note 8 last night, it all runs fine, apart from the resolution.
The monitor I have it attached to has a native res of 1680 x 1050, which the dex doesn't seem to support, as it creating a view with big black bars at the top and bottom.
I know Samsung specified a maximum of 1920 x 1080 resolution, but I assumed it would be able to easily handle LOWER resolutions.
Has anybody found this problem? And did you find a solution?
What mode do you have it in, screen mirroring or DEX...?

Hi,
I have it in DEX mode.
When in Screen mirroring mode it just comes up as a thin window in the middle of the screen.
I've been thinking this may be due to the fact that the monitor i'm using doesn't have a hdmi input so i'm using a hdmi to dvi adapter.
Still lookinf for others that may have had this problem.

i find it quite annoying when i HDMI mirroring to my TV, the phone itself also remain screen on. is it possible to screen off it without stop hdmi mirroring?
no - mirroring (or cloning) means "the same"
Everything you do and see are the same on both displays - you cannot select one option for the phone screen and another for the external display. They act as one and the same display, not 2 different displays. If you turn of the screen, it does so on both displays. Thats the whole idea and meaning of the term mirroring
The only exception on the O2x are when playing videos - then it actually doesnt do mirroring, but instead swithces to dual display allowing to output 2 individual signals, one to each display - and by doing so it can output the video signal in full HD resolution natively on the external display, while having the phones display showing only the controls in the lower resolution phone display.
But in everything else, the phone only does "mirroring" - and that term simply dictates both by meaning and by technical funtionality of the term that everything are the same.
What you want could offcource be achieved by not using mirroring, but rather only use single display and having an option in the menu to switch between which to display to use (completely bypassing the internal display) - but this option is not available.
Hi all,
I tried to connect my O2X to LCD TV (full HD capable) through HDMI port. Working normally, except when I change my phone to landscape mode the LCD TV suddenly blacked out. Back to normal again if switched to portrait mode.
And I don't think my TV displayed on 1080p mode, too low in resolution.
Anyone got this? I use CM-7.1.0-Optimus2X
Thanks

Case closed, I moved to Gueste2X "GoodBye" ROM.
Thanks.
I'm planning to buy a AppRadio 3 headunit for my Jeep, and use the ARLiberator app to unlock it so it mirrors my Z1 on the in-dash screen (I'll provide a link to a YouTube video below for clarification). It mirrors it using an HDMI cable into the back of the headunit (full size HDMI).
This Sony HDMI Cable is what I plan to buy, and do what was stated above, however I've seen mixed reviews on something. The Phone is cradled directly beside the headunit. Does HDMI Mirroring (the basic function, not the ARLibereator app) keep the screen on at all times? Or if I hit the power button on my phone, will it keep mirroring to the "TV"?
The ARLiberator app downscales everything, and transfers touchscreen actions and what not via Bluetooth, and then uses the HDMI Mirroring to show me the screen, as well as charge the phone.
AppRadio 2 Demo (AppRadio 3 released after, more features, etc.)
@Wiltron That's a cool idea man.
From my experience if you turn the screen off than you will see a black screen on your receiving device.
Note that this is my experience with miracast but I'm sure that hdmi will work the same way.
Hi,
With my experience with Nexus 10 and Xoom HDMI, the screen will be on until the screen timeout reaches, if you turn off the screen, HDMI will be black too. But there are some apps that can turn the screen black, but still on, like Screen Standby . That's a good idea man.

You can "turn off" yoir display using this app: Screen Standby ♯ Root (sorry I can't link it I'm newbie). Root permissions required
my remix mini was working fine before i turned it off. after turning it on, its black screen with unsupported mode from the tv. what could have possibly happened? i tried using different hdmi and plugging to different outlet.
Possibly a refresh rate difference. 50vs 60hz

Try to plug it on different TV or Monitor, It happened to me, I plugged it on my 4k TV, but when I switched it to my 720p TV, I got the same screen with unsupported mode. To fixed it, I had to plug it back on my 4k Tv, change the Screen Resolution to work on my 720p tv.
I got a white carlinkit dongle and I can not get full display when I connect my phone to my android auto. The display is like cinema mode. I would like to turn it to full screen so i can everything on the screen.
Thank you for your time. any help will be much appreciate.
I got the same problem but in the other way. I got a large screen and the image is stretched horizontally
