[OUTDATED]
I have the stock firmware files here for the S7 Edge SnapDragon models.
This works on any US model device and OTA's work perfectly.
It Downgrades from 7.0 Nougat just fine without bootloop and it has better performance and MUCH better battery life than carrier branded firmware.
WARNING!
I do not take responsibility for what you do to your device, this should not void warranty, however if done incorrectly it may.
DO NOT BLAME ME IF YOU DAMAGE YOUR DEVICE!
If done correctly, this will not trip KNOX.
I recommend that you have 50% battery or higher before doing this!
Firstly, Download the PrinceComsy Odin files from here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817906626617944452
Next , Download the firmware files from here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=889964283620764377
Step One:
Extract odin to your Desktop and open with administrator privelages,
You will see 4 file slots, BL, AP, CP and CSC.
Step Two:
Extract the firwmare files to your Desktop and return to Odin.
Step Three:
Click the slots and select the correct files that correspond with the boxes (you can know by looking at the beginning of the files, they should start with the letters on the boxes)
Step Four:
Go to options and make sure that only f. reset time and auto reboot are checked.
Step Five:
Put your phone into download mode by turning off your phone and holding home, volume down and lock buttons at the same time.
Step Six:
Connect your phone and press start, wait for the green bar at the top to say passed and then unplug the phone.
It can take up to 10 minutes for first boot but after that you will no longer have carrier bloat and samsung bloat can mostly be deleted.
Step Seven:
After setup is finished boot into recovery by turning off your phone and holding home, volume up and lock buttons at the same time.
Using the volume buttons to navigate, go down to Wipe Cache Partition and press lock, navigate to yes and press lock again.
Step Eight: Reboot and enjoy Android Marshmallow or update to Nougat.
Thank you
thank you
thanks
Thinking of going back to original stock. Does turning off auto update stop OTA's?.. Ive hated the battery life and performance of my phones every since the first update.
I wanna put 6.0.1 MM into my phone. i followed this guide but i get <OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0) when i press start in Odin?
nothing happens at all?

I'm so sorry about the very late reply, if you are on oreo, the bootloader is now updated to version 8 which now locks us from downgrading anymore. I will change the thread name and once again, i do apologize for any trouble this has caused.
Apologies for digging up an old thread, but I recently acquired an AT&T S7 Edge and downgraded the firmware, but now it's tripping dm-verity. Is there anything I can do or am I S.O.L.?

This is a zip of the MK7 Firmware, you must unzip using 7zip or equivalent,
place the extracted .tar.md5 file where you can locate it using Odin.
Take The Gear and put into Download Mode....
( Hold The Power button, wait until watch reboots,
screen will display Samsung Rebooting, once at this screen,
click the power button continuously until it switches to the boot loader)
click the button twice to go down to Download mode,
Press and hold the power button for 3-4 seconds and let go,
the watch will boot into recovery and is ready to be placed in the cradle for restore.
Once in Download mode and watch is in cradle connect to the pc and open odin,
your watch should be displayed under the com port, if not your missing drivers for download mode.
Chose the ap spot and navigate to the .tar.md5 you downloaded from here,
no need to mess with other check boxes. Once you selected the .tar.md5
odin will check it against your gear for compatibility, once done you can hit start,
it will take time so be patient, don't allow keis or any other software to be running during this step,
these other programs could interrupt the connection and cause odin to fail.
Watch will automatically reboot and be back to stock,
you may need to power cycle the watch if it sticks on the Samsung screen,
go back to the bootloader using the above steps and choose recovery,
this allows the update to complete. it will automatically reboot, and get back
to stock pairing screen / main home screen.
ENJOY.
If my instructions are vague, use Google or other walkthrough's to help get into download mode.
This will wipe all data!
Flash at your own risk!!!
There's other posts around with links to Samsung-Updates.
Their download speeds suck and are limited and really confusing for new users.
This is the exact same thing with a lot faster download and is a straight download to the firmware.
I had to reboot device after flashing this firmware and go to recovery, recovery said applying updates and rebooted,
once I did that the watch fully booted, without this reboot the watch hangs on Samsung screen after restore.

Whoo! big ups for uploading this. Too many bad links. Too many 404 errors. Slow downloads. RESPECT! =)

THANK YOU
dude i know this thread is 4 years old, but i love you, thank you for this so much, ive been searching and searching and searching, and finally found it, thank you SO MUCH.
I decided to create this thread for the many who have attempted to downgrade their AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5[and failed]. The many videos and threads that claim the 100% success rate for downgrading all models of the S5 are terribly mistaken.
In the link I'm providing four files to help all, from noobs to intermediate to maybe even advanced users.
*I am not a developer just someone who was persistent enough to have scavenged for these files and figure out the order to use
Steps:
1. Download all files and place under one directory. (make a new folder for these files to be placed in, make them easy to find.)
2. Run Samsung_USB_Driver_for_Moblie_Phones_v1_4_6_0
3. Unzip Odin3_v3.10.7
4. In Odin3_v3.10.7 folder run Odin3_v3.10.7.exe
5. In Odin select options tab and double check the default of Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time (These should be the only selected)
6. In Odin click AP and navigate to G900A_OC4_Stock_Partitions.tar and open (wait 10-30 seconds for Odin to respond and load)
7. Boot phone into Odin download mode (Press Volume down + home + power on) [for convenient reboot take back panel off and dis->re connect battery]
8. Plug in phone. Under ID:COM it should be blue this means the drivers are properly installed and cable is a sync data cable.(Not charge only)
9. Press start. Wait for PASS to show. Press reset. Unplug phone.
10. Phone will reboot to Samsung powered by android logo. (You've won the first battle)
11. Reboot into Odin download. (Take out battery, shove back in with button combo)
12. Unzip G900A_5.1.1_Fix
13. Plug phone back in and flash under AP the files in order, resetting phone into download mode each time. (boot, modem, NON, recovery)
On final boot put back panel back on and wait on the at&t symbol for 2-3 minutes.
I hope this thread is easily found and my instructions are clear enough that I help all who have had my same problem I've fretted over the past 2 days.

DOes this work for unrooted too?
I just got an AT&T s5 came with 5.1.1. and out of the blue it started bootlooping. Could not get into recovery but could get into download mode.
Just found this thread was going to try but now seems to boot. Not sure what happened. I did several battery pulls.
In any case good to know if this works in case it happens again.
Any idea why I would boot loop? Did nothing to the phone other than disable some system apps. But did not try to flash anything
Yes

Yes, this method can be used on unrooted s5. I can say this with 100% certainty because mine wasn't rooted.
Would this method work for the GS5 active? I have the same issue...
Thank you man this save my phones life
Spent 7 hours trying to fix this, this was giving me such a migraine headache, I am happy to say that my phone is back thank you so very much this is greatly appreciated for this easy to follow step by step instructions

The next steps are if part of the boot process was overwritten by trying to downgrade. This would happen if part of the downgrade flash in Odin was successful.
No

I wouldn't recommend using these (zip/tar) files. However, you can use this process, but you need g870a files. These files are to fix the 900a.

Anyone who is able to download is free to make a mirror for these files. I, however, have no idea how.
I don't know why you wouldn't be able to access them. Anyone who clicks the link has access. (You may need to be logged into google.)

I screwed up. I thought one of my replies wasn't being posted, didn't see second page.
Now I can't delete this.
I will re-edit this to answer a question.
P.S. sorry for taking so long with answers, I hadn't checked thread in a while.
If urgent you are more than welcome to private message me.
Thank you. This worked for me. I made the mistake of taking the AT&T automatic upgrade to Android 5.1.1 and then trying to downgrade to 4.4.X. and got the Samsung Galaxy S5 splash screen freeze. After too many hours of trying to find a downloadable AT&T Android 5.x version as someone suggested, I came across this post. Thank you again. Once suggestion, I would check sum the downloads so people know what they are getting is legit (I hope these download are . Also the Odin v3.10.7 failed to install on my Windows XP system, but I did have a Odin v3.10.6 that worked fine.

Once you go through this procedure try going into stock recovery, (same button combo only vol up instead of down) then clear cache and/or factory reset. Then redo the second half(5.1.1 stock partition tar flash)
Looks like this should become a sticky for all us AT&T SM-G900A's stuck around 5.1.1.
I will do this process in the next day or so. I assume no PIT file is needed?
I ready to do this. unlocked and rooted all my phones but this one over the years. . .
QUESTION: I purchased this at 5.1.1 C015 upgrade. Does this method helped attaining root (not mentioned anywhere), or just flashing 5.1.1 stock again? I dont need a flash a ROM already working, although still containing bloatware and major battery drain.

I goofed and updated my Verizon Galaxy S6 Edge (32gb) to Nougat. I'd like to attempt downgrading it back to 6.01 (Marshmellow?) I'm new to modifying my cell phone and would like to outline what I think I should do, and hopefully someone with experience will catch any goofs before they occur.
General Information:
G925V
Build # G925VVRS4DQD1
Hardware # G925V.04
1. Downloaded Samsung Switch, backup everything I can. This step should also place the samsung usb drivers on my pc? (window 10 64bit)
2. Prepare phone? Little foggy on this step, some guides recommended factory restore and erase cache partion first. Remove Sim card.
3. Download firmware from sammobile, I downloaded G925VVRS4CQA3, newest available 6.01. Does it matter that the last four digits don't match the last four of my Build #?
4. Put phone in download mode (reboot, home+power+volume down, volume up to accept)
5. Open Odin (v3.12.5) verify .tar file. I saw the AP file that needs pulled over, guessing there might be other files, firmware download still going.
6. Connect phone, check connection in upper left window of Odin hit start and don't unplug anything
7. When Odin finishes, reboot phone into Recovery mode, select factory reset all user data?
Am I overlooking anything major?
Thanks,
Cole

1.) From http://www.samsung.com/us/support/smart-switch-support/#!/faqs "The first time you connect your Samsung device to your computer, it will automatically locate and install the necessary drivers. (This process can take a few minutes to complete.) After the drivers are installed, the device will appear in the Smart Switch application.
If the drivers do not install automatically, go to the Samsung Support site and visit your device's support page. Click Manuals & Downloads to download the drivers for your device."
2.) Yeah, I am guessing prepare phone means prepare for total data loss (lol) when you perform a wipe data/factory reset from the recovery mode/menu (which formats /data, /cache and /sbfs partitions).
3.) The last 4 digits are different because you are on the first build of Nougat now (DQD1).
I have no experience with Odin myself, but I do know there are checkboxes, options and such you should do research on beforehand. For example, on sammobile's download page there are instructions saying "Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked" so just saying as there may be special procedures involved specifically when downgrading.
Another potential problem: have you found confirmation that you can downgrade -directly to- the last Marshmallow 6.0.1 build available for this phone (CQA3) -from- Nougat 7.0 (DQD1) and are you sure about it? There is a chance you may need to downgrade to an earlier build first.
Also I've had a strange experience with sammobile, as I downloaded the Nougat firmware for this phone and it is -completely- different (name, size, hash, modified date far before the public release) from other Nougat firmware I downloaded.
I recommend for any firmware build you decide to use: download from multiple sources and compare/verify with HashMyFiles or similar software to make sure it is really what they say it is.
I am awaiting response from a question for this OP; you should check it out as he mentions downgrading and provides download links (note: CQA3 is -not- in the list). https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...25vvrs4dqd1-odin-nougat-7-0-firmware-t3597591

It worked. I did end up with a bootloop bouncing between the Verizon Screen and the Samsung screen that caused a few grey hairs. Eventually I was able to get into Recovery mode and performing data and cache resets allowed me to power on fully. I had performed a cache reset before starting the downgrade process, but not a data/factory reset. I also had the sim card removed. Either of those might have contributed to the bootloop. First action after google and Samsung account login was running BK Package Disabler and blocking the two sdm packages to hopefully prevent Nougat notifications (process contributed by @wolferno ).
Some information if it helps:
*Odin version was 3.12.5.
*Firmware version was G925VVRS4CQA3_G925VVZW4CQA3_VZW from sammobile (highest 6.01)
Backup was through Smart Switch, to get it running again I had to activate Developer options, enable USB Debugging, and under USB options enable MTP.
Hope this helps!
I have successfully downgraded from Nougat on my G925V 64gb
I used the stock software G925VVRS4CQA3_VZW4CQA3_VZW_USA_Verizon_6.0.1.
I downloaded from AndroidFileHost did the md5 check
It did boot-loop between Verizon and Samsung
Pressing and holding the Volume-down then Power button brought up the Factory reset (DOS-like) screen where I could do another factory reset to get the phone to boot up into setting up the phone starting with logging into the Samsung account.
I had activated another phone before this process so I could still get and make calls if it bricked, I've signed into my Gmail account that I have all apps and setting's saved.
I will be installing a Package Disabler as soon as the apps finish loading and before I activate the phone back onto Verizon.
Much thanks to coleauden for answering a PM and blkt for clarifying with coleauden earlier!!!
Enjoy the Day,
David

Nice, I didn't realize CQA3 was on AndroidFileHost as well. Which Odin version did you use? Did you remove your sim card? BTW, I think you meant Home/Volume Up/Power for recovery mode (the DOS-like menu) because volume down would put you into download mode. In recent months there have been reports (on google play reviews) of Package Disabler Pro removing the ability to disable certain packages at the request of Samsung (removed from package list, no changelog either). Maybe this has changed; I have not investigated further but there's also BK Package Disabler. Here is a helpful page with all Odin versions. http://www.droidviews.com/download-odin-tool-for-samsung-galaxy-devices-all-versions/

Maintenance Boot Mode is what I get into with holding Down volume and holding Power button.
Odin 3.12.5
De-activated SIM still in the phone (activated a iphone for calls)
I ended up buying BK Package Disabler to block the OS upgrade/update.

Oh wow, another mode I was not aware of. Thanks! This one is good to know because it is apparently accessed when the phone is still on. Confusing though, because I though volume down + power was to force reboot. The recovery mode I mentioned is done after the phone is off.

I pressed the 2 buttons once the phone was off...
In all the times I have ever had to get into the lower (Root) areas of the phone , I've started with the phone off so I assumed this was a known practice.

Oh, I thought you used it to get out of the boot loop. No worries, as this video put my brain through a boot loop. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9N5Q8RD5QPs
You should be able to downgrade to any firmware that is Revision/Binary 4.
You started with 4DQD1 right?
You should be able to downgrade to any firmware with like 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D, etc.
Hello, been a while since I unlocked and installed custom ROMs. Recently I bought a cheap Note 9 and since it is already out of warranty, might as well get a custom ROM to get rid of Bixby.
I used Odin to flash TWRP as per the instructions and now my phone refuses to get out of it. It reboots in to Download mode no matter what button combination I use. Vol down + Power key gets me back in to download mode, if i press all the buttons, same thing. No matter what combo of buttons I use, it just keeps rebooting in to Download mode.
I cannot even turn the phone off... lolwut
The first time it booted in to TWRP, i flashed my ROM and I wanted to reboot to start it but it just keeps coming back to Download mode.
Any ideas?
===========
Ok i somehow fixed it.
When I tried to flash the stock firmware, it gave me Device 4 Binary 3. Googled it and apparently I flashed a BL that's a higher version.
So I fixed it with this genius post from the S6 Edge+ forums by Samuwelle.
---
RE: sw rev check fail device 4 binary 3 error
For all of you who get a similar error while downgrading:
1. download your firmware
2. download 7-Zip
3. download Odin
4. download tar tool
5. READ the guide to the tar tool
6. create the tar.md5 for boot.img, system.img and modem.bin ONE at a time and always cut the created files into a second folder. (I dont know if you need the .back files but just to be shure put them in, too
7. put your phone into download mode
8. start Odin (make shure phone is connected)
9. navigate to the boot.tar.md5 for "BL", the system.tar.md5 for "AP" and modem.tar.md5 for "CP"
10. press "Start" => DONE
This works for me and might not work for you.
I do not take responsibility for any damage YOU did to your phone.
Feel free to ask questions.
Hope this saves someone's day.

I downloaded the stock beta android 10 ROM, did the above, flashed it with Odin, did it 4 times because the progress bar did not move at all. Finally, the last attempt I just let it run while I played some games, after about 20mins, it still hasn't moved, gave up, pulled out the cable and immediately got an "Error updating, please use Smart Switch Emergency Recovery". SS did not work, did not detect.
Tried the above method again, no dice. I could not get out of the error mode now, so I just opened Reiboot Android and clicked the little button to exit download mode, and for some reason it started booting! LOLOL
I guess it flashed successfully, just that the progress bar for Odin didn't move. Either way, I ain't touching **** now. On Android 10, One UI 2.0, gonna use this til the official thing comes out.
Hey all,
I'm writing this because I hope it'll help someone else who needs it. I have a VZW-branded S21 Ultra. I previously flashed it to the unlocked non-carrier firmware, but after having to get it serviced and ending up with a phone that had the latest Android 12 VZW ROM flashed to it, I wanted to go back to the unlocked ROM (and I'll let the OTA take care of the upgrade to Android 12). By the time you read this, the Android 12 OTA may already be present. If you
This will only let you take any carrier-branded S21 Ultra and put the non-carrier-branded global ROM on it. It will not unlock your phone, it will not unlock your bootloader, it will not trip KNOX (because it's an official image). I recommend using the standard CSC as well (and not the HOME CSC). Just do it clean.
Here's exactly what I did:
We need the firmware file itself. We can use Frija to grab the firmware without having to go through places like SamMobile. Grab Frija from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/tool-frija-samsung-firmware-downloader-checker.3910594/.
In order for you to be able to run Frija, we need two C++ Redist executable installed. You need to install both the x86 C++ Redist 2008 (Link, be sure to grab vcredist_x86.exe, not the x64) and x86 C++ Redist 2010 (Link, again, be sure to grab vcredist_x86.exe, not the x64). Install them both. You do not need to reboot after installing.
Open up Frija (if you didn't install the above Redist files, you'll get an error). Under the model, enter SM-G998U1. For the CSC, enter XAA (unlocked non-carrier variant). Click on Check Update and then save file, and let it run. Once it downloads, it will then decrypt the file into a zip. This will take some time depending on your connection.
When it finishes downloading (by default, it saves the zip file to your Documents folder), find the zip file, right click on it, and Extract All. Let it finish fully extracting.
Now, we need a patched copy of ODIN. The reason we need a patched copy is because by default, ODIN will detect you're trying to flash an XAA (unlocked non-carrier) ROM to a VZW (or other carrier-branded) phone. The patched versions bypass this check. From this page, grab the Odin3 v3.14.1_3B_PatcheD.zip file.
Unzip the Odin3 v3.14.1_3B_PatcheD.zip file, and run Odin as Administrator.
Click on the BL button, and then navigate to the extracted firmware folder, and select the only file that starts with BL. Give it a few seconds to finish loading the file.
Skip the AP button for now (you'l understand why in a second), and instead click on the CP button. Navigate to the extracted firmware folder, and select the only file that starts with CP. Again, give it a few seconds to finish.
Click on the CSC file, and then navigate to the extracted firmware folder, and select the only file that starts with CSC. Give it a few seconds to finish loading the file.
Finally, click on the AP button, and navigate to the extracted firmware folder, and select the only file that starts with AP. This will be the largest file in the firmware folder, and coincidentally, will take the longest for Odin to finish loading. It may seem unresponsive, it may look like its frozen, do not touch anything. After a few minutes, it will finish.
Put your phone in Download Mode. The most reliable way I've found for doing this is to turn the phone completely off, wait a few seconds, then hold both Volume Up and Volume Down, and then plug the USB cable from your computer in to the phjone. Don't let go of either volume button until you see the blue screen. Press Volume Up once to enter Download Mode. In Odin, you should now see "COM1" in the top left-most box, and the log window should say "Added". This is good.
Click Start. It will most likely get to the point where it says "SetupConnection" and then appear to get stuck (on successful runs, it should only pause here for a second or two at most, any longer than that, and it's stuck). To get around this:
Do not close Odin.
Unplug your phone.
Press and hold Power and Volume Down for 7 seconds to reboot the phone.
If it powers all the way back up, power it back down. If it powers into recovery, select the Power Off option and power it down.
Once more, hold both volume buttons, and plug the USB cable back in to enter Download Mode.
Click Start once more, and this time, it will get past the "SetupConnection" message and continue on to flash your phone. Wait until it finishes completely.
If you left the checkbox for "Auto Reboot" checked the phone will reboot on its own once you finish flashing the firmware. If you unchecked this box, you'll need to manually reboot the phone.
Your phone is now flashed. Congrats!'
If you were struggling with figuring this out, I hope this helps.
Hi, I've flashed my VZW S20+ to TMB about 2 years ago, so the CSC is TMB/TMB/VZW. Even after I flashed XAA firmware by following your guide, its CSC doesn't change. (expected XAA/XAA/VZW)
Do you know if reverting CSC back is possible? I've done it 2 years ago, and many things have changed.
Thanks!

@darkkio87 that message is saying you're trying to use a firmware that's older than the one already on the device. Go back to @FrozenCrunch instructions about Frija and make sure to download the latest firmware that goes with your device.
