I guess most of us know MX player is consider to be 1 of the best video player out there. S,o I just wondering how it fare against Samsung player that came with the phone? Let's just assume we are only watching video.
ps I've read certain users say its 'video quality is a little sharper vs MX player.
I have several issues with soubd codec with mx.... never had one on samsung built in.... but i use only vlc player. Much lighter and yet i have to find a file that it doesnt play...mx is too heavy for my liking

Sound issues, how in a way? Well, I don't wanna install additional app when the Samsung built-in player functions are enough for me like sliding up/down/left/right for brightness/volume/backwards/forward, etc. Just perhaps the quality i was asking in my thread.
MX player is the best 4 me, at least on all other phones before Note8... great functions like playing in the background and when screen is off....
Well, i did make a thread and asked on two different one, but, cuz this thread is about MX Player, ill ask here too, and if it isnt appropriate, just tell me or move it...
Mine quote:
After update to latest firmware on N950F ds, Android Security Patch 1 November 2017 music stopped in the background randomly on MX Player. Checked all solutions i can remember-deleted third party players, turned off sync, gestures, etc, even tried MX Player 3 different versions including two Pro and 3 Free ones, same things happens(thought that it is up to MX, but it is not, on S7 that is not problem)... Sometimes music paused by it self for about 15 mins of playing, sometimes on 35.26... but it is paused and when i get back in Player it continue to play like nothing happens... Anyone else with that kind of challenge or with solution to this?? Here is on attachment system - software info:

I'm very disappointed with video playback on the N1. I thought it would handle video well, i mean this thing has 1ghz of processor after all.
Video player I've tried so far are arcMedia, mplayer, rockplayer, nemoplayer and of course the build in one. All of these does very bad job. They either don't have the codec to handle videos, playback but with grayish overlay, only sound and if the video is small, i can see pixel on the edges. Non of them can smooth smaller video.
My last 5-6 phones were all wm and with coreplayer installed wm can handle these vga or wvga video as if they were qvga. Plus, coreplayer can smooth out smaller video.
I really love the ui on N1 but if the video playback is this bad i may have to go HD2. So help me, I'm willing to try anyway anyway. thanks.
Oh I've googled for ways already with no luck and i know coreplayer is coming to android. I don't i want to wait. thanks again
Sorry for the long post. I've also kill every app and please don't tell me to convert all those video.
Interesting. I've used some of the apps you mentioned, and have always been happy with the playback quality...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Always great to see fast fast replies. what are your file type? what resolution? Mine usually are mkv with 500 to 800p. any help? anybody?
I use VPlayer beta for playback + Handbrake for encoding (using stock iphone/ipad preset) and I get mostly good results. What bothers me is sometimes the phone will stutter and not play back but other times it plays the same video fine. I have mostly long concert videos (1-2 hrs created from a ts_video) and if it stutters and stalls I'll pause it for a minute then when I hit play the audio goes fine and the video will be in FF for 15 sec or so then sync up again. Sync is not great overall but I'm not going to worry about it.
VPlayer beta works for me .... could you be running too many widgets or not killing enough programs in the background?
Come one people could you not see the tears next to my question? How about paid app then? Is there any good one?
I was using Rock Player until I read about VPlayer Beta over here and installed it. Personally, I felt that VPlayer Beta is more feature rich and configurable then the Rock Player
Ah nice guys thanks so much. I would have never found this vplayer if i hadn't post this Q here. Although i hope coreplayer will be here soon.Anyway thanks again.
if you're trying to get a decent picture from a smaller sized video, it's going to suck. i usually rip dvd's with mencoder or handbrake, transcode to mp4 @ 800x480 (or whatever) and all the dvd's play back beautifully. sound is great (with passive cancelling earbuds) and the isn't a shimmy even when a phone call/sms/gmail interrupts with a notification sound.
maybe you have something heavy running in the bg ? sync messed ? dunno
VLC for Android coming soon

BACKGROUND STORY NO ONE ASKED FOR FIRST:
I was using MX Video Player for awhile, but was kind of annoyed at how it would drop a frame every now and then with some of my video files (even using the Motorola sanctioned x264 encoding options of no CABAC, no B-Frames, no weighted-P or 8x8 DCT) and wanted to look for a new video player.
I was turned onto both Dice Player and BS Player. Both of these players seemed to play back video much better than MX Video Player, with no stutter or frame drop in my 720p files, so I was mostly happy. However, both of them had an issue I didn't like. Dice Player's software was only available in Trial form since their checkout account was suspended. BS Player wouldn't seek in some of my MKV files.
I scrapped Dice Player as there was no workaround for the BIG ASS CLICK HERE TO BUY BANNER AT THE TOP OF THE SCREEN at the moment, but I started to investigate why BS Player wouldn't seek in some of my movies yet seek in others. (Dice Player seeked no problem, same for MX Video Player.)
My investigation concluded with BS Player having some sort of seeking problem with any movie file that was over 2GB. (That's 2,147,483,648 or 2,048MB.)
Other than that and what some say an interface that needs to be worked on, I think it's a great program. Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone who uses this player or is looking for a good movie player the quirk I found with it...
Most of my encodes with the proper baseline profile at CQ 22/AAC 160 are usually under 2GB, but I s'pose for the 3 movies I have that have issues, I'll try for CQ 23/AAC 128 and see if it is under 2GB and acceptable quality.
Hope this helps someone!!
Yea man - I agree. I was having issues w/ my MKV files - found Dice player and it worked fine - went to buy it but nogo. Found BS Player - works great as well.
Interface is a bit clunky - but I can live w/ that!
+1
Hi,
How you installed the bsplayer on xoom, since market says it's incompatible?

I'm stock.
New version of this app in the Market today. Fixes my quirk plus adds ICS support. What what!
I must issue a warning... don't download the latest update to this software. Although it fixes seeking in files over 2GB, it breaks hardware acceleration so videos now play back in slow motions.
Very disappointed.
EDIT: Attached the old version as well as the old plugin for those who upgraded and didn't have a backup of it!! Old version works nicely minus the >2GB seek bug.
Will give it a try thanks.
Luckily I bought the Dice player before the market went down. One thing that is not mentioned a lot about it though.
I work in Africa every other month, no wi-fi. So after two weeks Dice player stops working as it cannot call home. This annoys me.
I have the 8.4" and have noticed that some of my videos (.mov 1080p movie trailers) seem to be a tad bit laggy, especially when they first start. Has anyone noticed the same? I have downloaded a custom codec but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I have also tried both hardware and software playback.
yes, same here, I bought MX player Pro in hope that it will dissapear but unfortunately there is very very noticeable lag. Stock video player plays same video with no problems...
I've had no problems with it on my end. Crosses fingers ✌

Not sure what is up with your mx player, but check out Dice Player and also check THIS link on how to add the DTS capabilities.
I used to be a mx player user, even bought pro, but since using dice, I haven't looked back once. It does all mx does, plus you can pop the player out and multitask with ease, I even use it on my note 3!
I'll check it out.
My videos seem to be smoother now when using software decoding for the video and hardware for the audio, but I know there is still something weird going on because the menus lag so much when you're scrolling up and down.
Yeah. That's weird. Mines still working flawlessly.
How can I prevent the camera application from interrupting music playback? I can't record videos while continuing to stream audio over AUX or BT.
Using camera while streaming music will work for taking photos, BUT to record videos, they assume you want to record sound with your video, so that's why the streaming stops. You can always play music from an external source when making your music videos.

I know I can play from an external source but that would defeat the point of keeping everything on my phone- Lets say I'm having a small party and I'm streaming music from my phone over BT and then decided I want record a video, obviously I'm not going to want the music turning off for the whole party because I decided to record a video. Or another example, my little nieces & nephews were over this past weekend and were dancing to music I was playing from my phone over BT and since I have a Note 4 & always is the best camera in the room for recording videos, I'm asked to record with my phone. If they are dancing to music playing over my phone and then I record a video of them & its turns off the music, which I also want in the video, then it makes the video pointless.
I would find it extremely strange if there isn't a 3rd party app to allow this, a setting to adjust, a work-around or a Wanam xposed option to allow this.
I can't be the ONLY one with this issue lol

i guess no one else has tried to record a video while using their phone as a music player. we must be the crazy ones -_- ...seeing as that no one else was going to be of any help, had to resolve this one myself. i remember i used poweramp exclusively back in the day on my cyanogenmod g2 because compared to the stock music player it had a better interface, a ton more feautures & settings, better eq, better file mgmt, better interface & music actually played better through this app (with eq mods). I stopped using it when i got the first galaxy s as it had a bug like many things had a bug on that phone.
i just download the latest Version of Poweramp & I am blown away- it has come a long way and in my few minutes using it, I already love it again and will be using it as my primary music player. And it fixed my problem, I'm able to taking pictures & videos now without interrupting music playback. (setting for it)
any updates on this?
I to have the same issue where my kids are dancing to music I'm streaming and would love to video them doing they're crazy moves to the music.
Best bet is have the dev who rom you are using mod the camera ? apk and you are good. Every rom is different. Also someone did this already you just gotta look.
BAD ASS NOTE 4
This is my first ever smartwatch and I like it overall so far. I listen to mostly DJ mixes for the most part which means one track merges to the next one without any pause or gaps. I use the paid premium version of Poweramp and another media player called Musicolet on my Samsung S22 Ultra and they're both excellent in this regard. I can't find their compatible version for my Watch 5 Pro though.
The problem I have is that all the music I've transferred from my S22 Ultra to my Watch 5 default samsung media player has at least a 2 second gap in between tracks which is jarring and takes the enjoyment out of everything I'm listening to. Does anyone use a media player with gapless playback on their watch 5 Pro? On the plus side the Watch 5 Pro plays much louder and sounds cleaner compared to my S22 Ultra.
Thanks!

there are settings in PowerAmp
Settings>Audio>Crossfade, Fade, Gapless. Have you tried those, or are you referring to a purely standalone player for the watch (without using the phone)?

Without using the phone, yes. I normally don't have my phone with me during my workouts. Poweramp from what I could see doesn't have a compatible app for the Watch 5 pro. I need something that does gapless playback.
