So, I am on RR nougat official firmware(4.15 or whatever lol) but want to move to Oreo....what must I do?
Download OTA from OP site, plug 3T into PC, wipe data and flash ota. When finished you can lock bootloader if you want or follow root guide.

Oh, well in that case, do a full wipe (everything but data if you want to keep your downloaded files), flash the latest OB firmware, the ROM, gapps, whatever else you want (magisk uninstall for unroot?

So basically, I can go back and forth, as long as the firmware matches the ROM? I won't brick going from beta to official firmware and back?

Hardware firmware and "ROM" system is not the same. The firmwares used by the Bluetooth controller and modem hardware is independent of the ROM except for the fact that the application layer apps/phone RIL must be able to communicate with the modem firmware. Therefore it's important to have the matching firmwares in the phone for the ROM bundled binary packages (binaries and firmwares taken from the same original OxygenOS ROM) for them to be as compatible as possible.

As the thread states....has anyone tried to flash stock DOK2 firmware from the new MM update? I have searched and asked many questions but have not gotten a solid answer. And if no one knows or no one has tried yet, would someone who had already taken the update be willing to try flashing stock DOK2 firmware? For developmental purposes. Thanks in advance. ?

Root works perfectly fine. Use SuperSu Systemless root. I believe the version number is 2.74-2. It's the latest beta if I'm not mistaken.
First use ODIN to get TWRP onto the device and then flash the supersu zip like usual.
I was thinking of just using flashfire to flash BL and modem only then install the rom..that way it doesnt overwrite recovery... bad idea ?

I was able to downgrade to DOK2 but I only flashed the bootloader & modem file not the entire firmware
If you flashed BL then we are good. I wonder if the MM bootloader is like n910G.....they couldn't go from 5.1.1 to 4.4.4 but when they got 6.0.1 they were able to got back 2 steps to 4.4.4.like a magical BL unlock ha

I had a T-mobile Note 4 (N910T) on 5.0.1 , downgraded to KitKat 4.4.4, when Lolipop 5.1.1 came out I upgraded. rooted, and then flashed custom rom Tekxodus .. phone used to restart randomly .. later discovered that once you upgrade OK2 you get locked and no longer can downgrade to KK.
later on, the phone started to give mmc error and then just died.
Lesson Learned, stay on 5.0.1 or downgrade to 4.4.4 and stay there.
I still wonder if Android 6.0.1 Locks down the downgrade process to 4.4.4. I doubt it will allow it.

Ok. You just downgrade, but I have a question.
After you flashed BL and CS, you still have to flash the firmware, right? So, I have to have the firmware OK2 too, right?

Yea if you want everything to be OK2 but its not necessary....if you are gonna use twrp, u dont need to odin recovery....and if you are gonna use a custom rom instead of stock then you dont need to odin system...so basically anyone with twrp and a custom OS is only using BL and Modem
But i always just flash it all just to be thorough....

Hello there.
My G5s+ is suggesting a security update. But since I did unlock the bootloader and rooted it with magisk I did not install it.
My question is: What is the best way to update the phone?
Just flash the new stock rom? And where do I get those?
Thanks in advance.
Nobody here that can tell me how to upgrade?
Should I just flash the new version if I get it somewhere?

Unlocked bootloader will not affect the OTA installation..!
The reason the OTA-Update fails is that one of the boot, system, logo or recovery partitions are changed.
Magisk modifies the boot image.
On rooted device..OTA may brick the device..so avoid OTA installation..!
Reply your current build Number from about phone..
Do a clean flash.

Flash 26-11 full firmware
Where can I find full firmware versions of the stock rom to flash?
My build version is: NPSS26.116-26-4
As I understand it, there are two new security patches since that version? If I'm flashing one of the newer versions, is it just a case of dirty flashing it normally through twrp? No need to factory reset?

If that is the firmware build you need, you could try the firmware here: https://firmware.center/firmware/Motorola/Moto G5s Plus/Stock/ but ensure you download the correct firmware. (credit to: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g5s-plus/how-to/xt1804-able-to-lock-bootloader-npss26-t3722572) Also, verify it is the firmware you require and was the latest firmware build on your device - please don't downgrade with stock firmware (else you may hard brick with OTA updates corrupting your bootloader)...
Stock OTA updates, as mentioned above, require fully stock firmware - they will not flash with root, modifications or TWRP (and attempting to flash via TWRP may soft bootloop your device). Thus, you must re-flash the stock firmware - you may be able to save your data by omitting the 'fastboot erase userdata' command and you do not have to re-lock your bootloader. However, I'm not familiar with the G5S Plus and I hope another user can provide you with flashing commands.
I would still recommend you make a backup of your device in TWRP and keep that safe, in case you have to wipe your data for stability.

Everything was ok, but after flash a new rom my sensor files got corrupted.
I've tried flash stock rom and wipe Dalvik, anything worked, now i flash other roms and nothing.

What bootloader were you on before? Were you on Nougat or Oreo before flashing Weta? What version Weta rom did you flash & did you flash Weta bootloader & modem update?
I've been using Weta rom for a long time & never had this issue so I still think it's a bootloader issue or a coincidence that your phone's hardware failed.

Since you won't say what Weta version you flashed & you didn't flash Weta bootloader update, I'm assuming you flashed Oreo version of Weta as Weta rom itself doesn't include bootloader & modem.
Since you won't give more details on what you flashed exactly I don't have a clue on what you should do or if it is a bootloader issue. Maybe kernel related I don't know.
So at this point all I can suggest is that if you are on BRA8 now, flash entire BRA8 or BRB2 firmware in Odin, BL, CP, AP, & CSC. Or at the least flash BL & CP.

Not if you flash only BL & CP. But those won't flash kernel. If you still have the issue, trying flashing a custom kernel if you don't want to loose TWRP & reinstall.
First off, I feel there would be many more reports of this with either TWRP or Weta Mod if the issue lay there with either of them.
I have used both in the past and have always worked fine for me.
Did you follow the flashing instructions letter by letter?
Have you got the latest TWRP that works with Oreo?
Which I believe you need to flash the older version before flashing the newer TWRP via TWRP with the iso.image?
I would just flash the full stock image via Odin like others have suggested. If the phone then works fine, as it should after this, try again but just take your time doing it.

Ah... So what is your current vendor firmware?
The vendor image is included with the rom. The bootloader and radio can be updated in recovery through adb. I haven't seen any zips that flash them. In my experience, updating the radio and bootloader sometimes ends up in bricks that require the blankflash files to recover.
Hey I have p20 pro EU version 6/128
Today I got a new update about Google security.
I want every update run on my phone
But I rooted my device.
I wanted first to ask guys , I tried to update but was unsuccessful. I do not have twrp because of the method I used to root p20 pro didn't allow me having magisk and twrp recovery.
So now if I want to update have to do it manually ?
2 questions
1) which program do I use ?
2) where I can find the firmware Official WITHOUT BEEING CHANGED ANYTHING inside from someone third.
Thanks John
You need to flash the stock bootloader. If you are running Pie and Magisk, you have a modified bootloader. I don't know where to download the stock one. Could probably rip it from a stock Pie firmware.
Me to have twrp on my p20 pro and i cannot update my phone.. Have new update but when I try system update after download, its entering to recovery mode for install the firmware but it cannot coz working twrp and unsuccessful installation.
Me to look for stock recovery for clt-l29 pie
