Best tempered glass screen protector for Xiaomi Redmi 4x - Xiaomi Redmi 4X Accessories

Hi!
I just wanted to know which is, in your opinion, the best tempered glass screen protector for this device. So far I've no luck, I bought a 2.5d one that has airbags on the borders.
Opinions?

same problem here with Luanke glass (209626001) from g3arb3st, all around on 1-2cm it was like there was no glue at all, only the center part was sticking correctly.

This is in fact not the problem with the tempered glass. It is due to the curved glass on redmi 4x which is called as 2.5D glass which will be slightly bent at the edges. When a traditional tempered glass is applied to the screen, as the glass is flat at the center, the tempered glass adheres perfectly, while the ends are bent but the tempered glass is not. This is the reason the tempered glass always leaves air gaps at the edges. I would prefer the old school model plastic screen protector that is available on mi.com for our beloved redmi 4x. Just give it a try and you won't even feel like you have a screen protector on the screen. The only intention in this screen protector is to protect the screen from scratches that are likely to appear due to object playing around in the pockets along with the phone. This screenguard will not protect the screen from drops. You will definitely need to rely on your luck about breaking the glass from waist height of an average height guy.

thanks for your reply
i know about the 2.5D (or rounded edges) of the Redmi4x, but in my case the glass manufacturer circumvented to this problem by making protective glasses slightly smaller than the phone glass like 3mm on each border, so beside the increased difficulty to position it, it should have skipped the edges radius. But even with the 3mm skip i still had non sticky parts. (sku 209626001 from gearbest)
Indeed plastic models should minimise this issue but they are so soft ! After one week in the pocket with scratching things like keys they look so bad that they are already good to be replaced. So except if some technological revolution happened for plastic screen protector since the Mi2/S time, i think i'll live without screen protection at all

Ok thanks

Im using one of that "hybrid" screen protectors, the center is made of tempered glass and the edges made of some durable material, one claims for carbon fibers, the other for Kevlar. sorry i do not have a link for what i bought, but it looks exactly like the one in that link : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10pcs-lot-For-Xiaomi-Redmi-4X-3D-Carbon-Fiber-Screen-Film-Anti-Scratch-Tempered-Glass-Screen/32821140687.html?spm=2114.search0104.3.29.uQibKQ&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_4_10152_10151_10065_10344_10068_10345_10342_51102_10343_10340_10341_10609_10541_10084_10083_10307_10312_10313_10059_10314_10534_100031_10604_10103_10605_10594_10107_10142,searchweb201603_12,ppcSwitch_5&algo_expid=72b8e48c-88c1-4470-9f38-f193a555b5e0-4&algo_pvid=72b8e48c-88c1-4470-9f38-f193a555b5e0&rmStoreLevelAB=5
it comes with colored edges, gold, black and white so you can use black or gold on white phone and vice versa. because the edges made of flex material, it sits perfect on the screen and have a nice curve edges all round. my have 98% coverage of the original screen, there is a 0.2 mm of gap between the two. in use on my device for about two month's now, having two falls on asphalt from about 70 cm, right on the corner, nothing happens yet. no scratches yet, as i say, i don't have a link for what i bought, i remember it was an unknown Chinese brand. hope it helps.

Why are all of the links aliexpress? (i don't have a problem with it just i prefer ebay/amazon)

Isn't it the cheapest that way? Just thinking.
Also, about topic - what do You think about 3mk 3D flexible glass for RN4X? Is it worth it? I would love to get as much protection as possible since I basically drowned my previous phone (UMI C Note) in worktime when I was washing 1 cubic meter containers with the pressure cleaner. Phone was in my pocket all the time, but just small stream of water on fingerprint scanner (inb4 you are a dumbass) ruined everyting.

Hi buczek,
have you tried the mentioned above FlexibleGlass? What are your thoughts on it?

there are much different quality of tempered glass in the market. some of tempered glass screen protector is with poor adhesive glue, it's easy to come off. some tempered glass screen protector is easy to be broken. our company supply high quality tempered glass screen protector, it's with high adhesive A/B glue, up to 9H hardness tempered glass material, anti scratch and anti shatter, protect your screen effectively.

Here in New Delhi I am able to get a variety of glass based screen protectors costing between ₹15-₹50 per piece. Yes they aren't as effective as those super costly ₹800 one 's but still are very good. It's just that they don't come in any fancy packaging and cleansing wipes

use nano glass,its good fit

Can anyone recommend a tempered glass that has not an insane amount of reflection effect? I bought one from a seller on Ali and it is just like a mirror, making it more annoying to use and harder to see in the sun. ali or ebay

Seconded.
The same happened to me. Also it gets dirty very easily and make the screen significantly darker.

I use these. They fit perfectly.

There's no quality screen protectors made from glass available for this model. I already spent like 50$ on them and none of them lasted long and all of them was defective in one or other way. The first one I bought (from Mocolo) with colored edges did come off on it's own after about a week of very light use. Do yourself a favor and listen to my advice... Buy some plastic screen film instead of this cheap crap and save yourself a lot of nerves and money.

Recommended screen protectors, and also - tempered glass?

Hi everyone,
I'm planning on purchasing the Nexus 5X in a few days, just need to find the right accessories for it (cables, cases, screen protectors).
I was wondering if anyone can recommend a screen protector that has a cutout for the proximity sensor.
Also, I seriously only found out today there is such a thing as tempered glass. After researching a bit, I learned of it's pros (actually protects your screen if the phone falls) and it's cons (can crack easily for no reason ,poses somewhat of a health risk if breaks).
Pros: http://temperedglassscreenprotector.org/
Cons: http://www.clear-coat.com/blog/why-we-dont-sell-tempered-glass-screen-protectors/
Strangely, all the screen protectors I find on Amazon are tempered glass.
So, which one should I buy (tempered or plastic), and can you recommend a specific screen protector?
I wouldn't say they crack easily, but that'll depend on a bunch of variables. All I can say is it looks good and feels much nicer than the PET/non tempered glass screen protectors. Spigen is a good brand to go with.
Read the thread below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3214188
I recommend the skinomi screen protector, it's not glass. It's the kind that feels like rubber and applied via water. I love these.
How you apply it with water? They can get to te mic's, no? You have safe way to do that?
Hi, Im very pleased with Nexus 5X Screen Protector, Spigen® [Crystal] Full HD, I used to have it on my Nexus 5 and I was so satisfied that I bought it again for my N5x. Feels like glass, perfecly cutted you have 3x screen protector included, dust removal and positionning tool to hlelp perfect use. At least two times saved my screen on my old nexus 5. And almost nobody noticed that Im using a screen protector....
I've played around with a few screen protectors over the years, including some tempered glass ones. I can show you some reviews I've written, if you're interested.
Most of the cheap glass options are /not/ multicoated. What that means is, while they might be very difficult to scratch, they will cause some reflections, way more than the bare screen. Also, one of the coatings applied in modern multicoating is an oleophobic coating. That means a layer which helps the glass reject oils, including the skin oils on your fingertips. So applying a glass screen protector usually means you'll have to clean your screen way more often, and also that it will be considerably more difficult to actually clean the screen.
If you're dead-set on a screen protector, I highly recommend you find yourself a multicoated option. These will be no less than $20 even on sale. They can be $30+ normally.
Personally, I trust Corning Gorilla Glass 3 as sufficient in this generation. You might get a scratch or two over a few year span, but, virtually everything your phone will meet won't be hard enough to damage the glass.

You apply a thin layer them squeeze out the excess. It's incredibly easy to retry if you set it wrong the first time. You can push the water away from the mic and speaker and use a cloth to dab up any excess water.

I've been using glass screen protectors since May 2014. I swear by them. They don't crack easily like Clear Coat claims. I've only had to replace them twice. Once because an edge got pulled up months later so there was a air gap on one side. The second time, it actually did crack but that was after falls with a TPU case on. As many others have stated, with tempered glass screen protectors, that will crack before the actual glass of the screen does. And good ones don't shatter into little pieces like Clear Coat says. On the two replacements, I broke them fully and the pieces stay together. Also I really like the glass feel. Not sure how non-glass screen protectors feel though. Back when invisibleSHIELD was popular, that tacky feel wasn't nice.

Even though the image shows it is, some companies say that despite the image, their product does not cover the sensor.

You mean, they will break before the screen glass when the phone falls?
A question for everyone... Is there a problem, with tempered glass of course, with seeing the screen outdoors when it's sunny, even in full brightness?

Exactly. I think of it similar to a crumple zone in a car. It will absorb some of the force before the phone's glass does. Now of course, with a great amount of force like dropping it from 10 feet or throwing it, I'm sure both the screen protector and the phone's glass would break. Regular accidental drops should work out the way I described.
As for outdoor visibility, there's no noticeable decrease in brightness or increase in glare. All of the manufactures usually advertise something like 99.9% transparency.
Here's an interesting tempered glass screen protector review. Cued up exactly on the drop test to rocks and removal:
https://youtu.be/UnvC6EERMyI?t=2m21s
Keep in mind that plastic protects better than glass and plastic does not need to be replaced where as most drops will break a glass protector. It is made from a thin easily breakable material after all.
The reason to pay roughly 10x as much for glass is because it feels much nicer on your finger. Plastic can also cause rainbow like reflections and can be a bit harder to apply than one solid piece.
However glass costs a lot more upfront and in the long run to replace. A plastic protector is about $1 and if applied properly won't ever need to be replaced.

Yes plastic ones don't break break or need to be replaced but I don't think they provide the same impact protection in absorbing drops. You'll probably have a screen broken under the intact plastic screen protector.

I have no background on the subject but just thinking about it logically, I don't think glass can be as protective as plastic.
For instance RhinoShield only offers plastic screen protectors. Their test videos show how easily GG would break from certain impacts and how much plastic protects it. Even the best tempered glass can only hope to be as strong as GG.
My basic understanding of the situation is glass protectors work because it breaks and saves the screen underneath, where as plastic works by actually strengthening the glass itself.
However for each time the glass protector breaks and needs to be replaced, the plastic would keep on trucking.
I think the misunderstanding arises when a user drops their phone with a glass protector and it breaks thus "saving" their screen. But what if they had plastic? Would the screen of broken then? What if they had no protector? We can't say for sure what the results would have been. However to the user that is a clear indication of the glass protector working, where as I would say that's only a clear indication of the glass protector breaking easily.

Right. That's how I see it as a user. Also, the clarity, feel, and scratch resistance can't be matched by plastic.

I've actually dropped my 5x naked just once so far and got lucky without any cracks, but I do believe if I had a glass SP it would've broken. In the end I think it's luck and a good case that will protect from a bad drop as the screen protector is mainly for scratch protection. I've kept my glass SP as a backup in case the factory oleophobic coating stops working as effectively.

I've not found a "perfect" screen cover yet for the phone. I like the 2.5d screen but it makes finding a "perfect" tempered glass solution a problem. I have a full screen protector one on now and it's okay. I haven't found one of those that have adhesive on the entire back panel of the glass. The adhesive is only around the edges on the painted surfaces.
I have another one I haven't tried yet. It looks like it has adhesive on the entire back surface and the outer edges are made of carbon fiber (supposed to be anyway) The outer edges are at least a soft material that supposed to stick to the entire edge and curve around so that it fits a 2.5d screen better. The problem with the ones I bought is that you can't see the backlight from the buttons on the bottom of the phone. Not a deal breaker but a flaw in the design.
Do some searches on aliexpress or someplace and you'll see. Search for redmi note 4x carbon fiber to see the second one I mentioned and redmi note 4x tempered glass for the full screen ones I also mentioned. There are clear non full screen ones that don't go to the edges of the glass. I haven't purchased one of those and probably won't.
It's really hard to find something decent. I personally prefer the traditional tempered glass screen protectors, but I've tried three now and they all look terrible, huge white marks on the sides even though the tempered glass doesn't cover the full screen. The full coverage one lost its adhesive due to my case pushing up against it, and it looks awful with weird adhesive marks in the middle. Honestly I'm contemplating going back to a film screen protector because I just can't find a tempered glass screen protector that will work for me. Also worth noting that I have a friend with a White Redmi Note 4x and I was able to transplant my screen protector onto this device with zero issues, so it's as if the black variant has glass that is more curved than normal

I applied my tempered glass with my case on the phone. It's one of the full screen protectors with the painted frame around the outside. I think they do that to hide the fact that the glass doesn't fit to the curve. It looks good but I know it's not a perfect fit.
Upon research there appears to be fluid you can apply to the edges to get a perfect seal to remove the halo effect... I will investigate further
With my new case I posted about the full screen tempered glass looks perfect except for the fact they don't put adhesive on the entire back panel. Just under the painted area.

Yes... in my experience this doesn't last. I had two lift up and get dust underneath and then it was horrible after that. Also I got the weird rainbow effect in the middle of the glass and the keys at the bottom didn't line up exactly.

As no hard material can cover a curved glass manufacturers need to make a hybrid glass. What I have done is bought a edge to edge glass from glazedinc.com and a tpu case from local market, edge to edge glass protects my display from scratches without compromising the looks and tpu case protects my device from falls. It's the nearest to perfect solution one can do for the note 4

Tempered Glass or Hydrogel screen protector

I've been thinking of getting something to protect my precious and the original plastic one has lots of scratches on it.
so Tempered glass or Hydrogel film?
I've been doing research on this question too. It's like a mixed reviews. But a commonly seen answer is that they regret getting the hydro gel version and stick to the conventional tempered glass as some buyers indicated after a few days, the edge came off peeling and trapping dust while some others has high static attracting dust and easily scratch.
I usually prefer Tempered glass.
Always glass, clarity and feel always superior to film.
A good brand would be Nillkin - I buy this off Ali express. The oleophobic coating is great and you can actually feel the smoothness difference vs a $2 cheapo glass protector.
http://s.aliexpress.com/rQje6z6R
I have bought it for multiple previous devices and am waiting for my Mate 10 glass delivery.
It is fragile though, have to be careful not to place it on the table face down with any sand or grit, it can scratch. Usually I have a case with a bit of a lip to protect it.
Obviously it can crack if you drop it also.

What brand did you get and does it cover the whole screen?
Ozero 2 pack from Amazon. Not a bad glass. No rainbow on the screen just a little thick. Like someone else said it makes you feel like your pressing into a hole with the thicker glass. They should taper the protector around the navigation button to make it feel better. Yeah covers all the screen. Except the bottom of the navigation button.

Unfortunately this time the glass is ever so slightly less than the full width of the phone - my P9 Plus Nillkin glass was edge to edge of the screen. About 0.5mm less than each side of the screen. I suspect this is because the no side bezels makes it hard to extend the glass all the way to the sides otherwise it might be non compatible with cases.
Not too irritating but definitely noticeable. Small halo effect as usual.
But overall the smoothness and the oleophobic coating definitely trumps the factory plastic protector. Still worth the buy.

Today i tried KONIX glass protector, (i guess this is just a generic glass, packed into some brand - just like many of screen protector in the market)
Just like any other 2.5D glass protector, it wont be able to cover the screen edge
But it still fit quite well, and the touch response is unaffected, or even better than on plastic (included) one
Glass cut is nicely rounded without sharp edge though, so i think this one is well manufactured
Here's some pics

Thanks... Wanted to see the one that @Cccmachins has because I ended up ordering the same Ozero TP... Guess I'll have to wait till I get it to see and decide if that works or if I need to keep looking.
The ozero just has a black frame around it so it just hides the edges of the screen completely, so you are actually losing a tad bit of screen real estate. I also bought one on Amazon that does not have the frame like the ozero and the entire edge is lifted up all the way around my screen. I think I'd prefer the plastic ones and just replace them from time to time...

That sucks... The tempered glass screen protector manufacturers seem to have a hard time making them fit perfectly on these curve edge phones... It's either to small or not sticking on the edges...

Even the stock screen protector doesnt fully cover the edges. Is the nillkin tg the same or worse than the original SP in covering the side? Do you think the UAG plasma case is compatible with the nillkin tg?
i prefer this protector 9h tempered glass, it cover all the front, very clear also in sunlight, anti fingerprint. i buy it from local market, very satisfied

Hello friend, as a seller, we have talked to countless manufacturers to find the perfect screen protectors for our clients. As now phones screen bigger and bigger, resolution values are higher also. It is so necessary to get a high quality screen protector to protect the high valued smart phones. And the meanwhile, the screen protector cannot affect the touch sensitivity of phone screen , cannot decrease the brightness of the phone screen. So really it is not an easy solution.
Anyhow, we used to struggle which one is better? Tempered glass or hydrogel screen protector? Tempered glass is more thickness to 0.33mm, while hydrogel usually under 0.2mm, tempered glass cannot be full screen protector, while hydrogel can be full screen protector. Which is such a pity tempered glass cannot be full screen. Still except this flaw, other aspects is much much better than hydrogel protector. So we stick to tempered glass screen protector for Huawei Mate 10.
Here is what we prepare for our clients.
Flos®Huawei Mate 10 Transparent Full Protection Tempered Glass Screen Protector HD Anti-Scratch-[2 Pcs]
And we offer express shipping to Europe/USA within 1 week at 2usd shipping fees.
Also we are on Amazon for Europe.

You know,
Sometimes its hard to trust a manufacturer, who despite promise the fine quality of their product, yet still manage to slip a typo on their commercial material,
Your images misspelled "tempered" as "temepred" and it doesn't sound convincing at all for me :silly:

Mi Note 3 Tempered Glass, Full Cover

I've ordered at about 5-6 Tempered Glass for our Mi Note 3, and it wasn't easy to find one which fitted our phone perfectly. If you'll order one, than search for 'full cover'
This one fitted our display perfectly and is rounded and cheap, too:

Yep, finally gave up searching for a fully transparent one as none fits edge to edge, ended up buying the one you posted and somewhat satisfied because it covers edge to edge, albeit the precision is a bit questionable and the matte finish gives different impression of blue (it's more like purple). NVM, my back cover is protected with a transparent TPU case and I can still myself in the "mirror" which is very helpful for back camera selfie (I love to do that because pixel2mod front camera won't work in advanced features like bokeh).
I have a few ones`s: At the moment i use one 9H tempered, and with colour blue. Not the qualith of a Ultimate Shield or Nilkellin, but it works so far...
And covers all screen.
Im using this for my Blue model:

Of course is not a Nilkellin or Ultimate Shield, but covers it all.

I brought it in Taobao and I don't think it can spam oversea outside of China. It need special oil to fix 2.5d glass problem which is liquid but become solid when dry.

Since mi note3 has curved edges, I bought soft protectors form taobao. Glass protectors dont fit very well.
Ace case do a tempered glass one that fits the corners perfectly. The main issue with it is that only the top and bottom coloured sections have glue on. Hard to explain but the part coving the screen doesn't so the slight air gap does effect viewing quality after a month or two.
I just got a ace case invisible screen protector to replace the tempered glass one and it is excellent. Obviously it won't protect as well from a large fall but I think it should still do a good job.
It's a soft plastic screen protector that you apply wet to the phone and it drys out after a few hours. Perfect fit and the quality is excellent. Feels good under the fingers and is very resistant to smudges. I'm really impressed so far.

Accessories Which screen protector do you use ?

Hi everyone
so far I can't find proper screen protector for my mi 11. I tried 3 different brands for tempered glass and all of them are the same:
not bent enough on the edges
fingerprint issues
back gesture don't work most of the time
adhesive is sooooooo weak
touch sensitivity issues
I'm looking for tempered glass options since I drop my phone a lot
if you have experience with good screen protectors please share
I would advise you not to use one. The tempered glass will in no case protect you display when it falls. The fact that the tempered glass breaks when a device falls, doesn't mean that without it the damage to be on the display itself. Tempered glass is pretty fragile and breaks very easily. So a slight fall will already break it where you display will not.
The Mi11 as Victus glass and is a perfect balance between scratch resistance and protection against ballistic impact (like a fall). During a live stream when the Mi11 was introduced in my country we dropped the device like 4 times on the ground while standing on a table.
My Mi11 came with factory foil protector which I removed after a week or two. The colors are always a bit less with the foil or glass on it. And the display is one of the main reasons to get this device, so it's a waste to put something on it.
Just use a skin or a case if you want to prevent some damage to the device directly but I would really not put a tempered glass or anything else on the display.
Edit: otherwise, if you really really want it; go with the aqua gel layers. They will always perfectly fit, add some extra scratch protection to your device (but less then the actual screen itself). You will still have less speed with the fingerprint and the colors will be a bit less too but that is with every layer you put on it. Again, wouldn't recommend.

thanks for the advice.
I had s7 edge before and I had to give up the screen protector because of the curved edges and gorilla glass got destroyed. I know it is not harder or tougher but it can take some beats away from the gorilla glass and it is cheaply replaceable unlike the gorilla glass.
Is the hydrogel smooth enough ?, how do you compare it to the phone glass and pre-applied screen protector

I'm not gonna buy 80$ screen protector
and I think the only useful part of this video is the scratch resistance.
i keep using the one which is preinstalled
Once that one is broken, i remove it and use it without any
I always do it like this

Why not? I payed 750€ for the phone so 80$ is completely ok for a really good screen protector. But I will do exactly the same as @qvert . I will use the one that came with the device until it gets ****t and than just use it without..
I bet that some people will not even know that Mi 11 comes with screen protector pre applied
I'm using hydrogel flex covers....

Well, like I said: I wouldn't really recommend that either but it's smooth enough. Had one on myt Mi9T Pro for a while but I removed it and the fingerprint scanner went from mediocre to pretty okay.
And again, the ballistic impact of a fall cannot really be absorbed by a screen protector, glass, gel or whatever. So damage prevention for that situation is not really happening. But if you still want it, I would go for something like this:

Glass is glass , and glass can break. No matter if it's victus or not , if it hits the right angle it will break. Unless you are a super careful person , i would not recommend using without a screen protector. For me it's a must , i tried using my RM5G without protection and broke it in less than 3 months.
