AT&T Galaxy MM with July security updates ROM? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

Hi guys,
I'm sorry if this was already covered somewhere else, but unfortunately I couldn't find it.
I have AT&T Galaxy S5 Active SM-G870A with Android 5.0 and I'm outside of the AT&T network.
My employer requires me to have at least Android 6.0 with Android Security Patch Level July 05 2017.
Is this ROM anywhere available yet?
Can I flush the ROM with non AT&T to get an updates over the air with any carrier?
Can I install any available AT&T MM ROM and then install security patches separately, or it is always part of the ROM?
Thanks, I'll appreciate any response.

@radbaus
The last security patch both the G900A and G870A received was back in April 2017, and no custom MM ROMs can be installed due to the fact that the bootloader is locked and it cannot use chainfire without root because no MM root exploit exists currently. It is unlikely that AT&T will release any more security updates for this device as it is well beyond the support timeline.

The best advice I can give to you is to find an AT&T sim, maybe borrow one from somebody, or flash the firmware via ODIN. Please be sure you know what you're doing if you choose the ODIN route, however.

You can upgrade to MM using the Odin files like I did, but the last and final security update was 4-2017 there will be no more.

Upgrade options

I currently have a S6Edge G925A on 5.0.2 (G925AUCU1AOE2). I haven't upgraded in a while and haven't kept up with the scene too much. What are my upgrade options? What is "stable" and won't flip Knox?
Links would be great.
You can upload OTA from at&t to get 5.1.1 last version. Or use odin to update, you can find files under general. Its all stack
Well, I thought I would do a little bit of digging to see where things have progressed since my build was released. These are the builds that have released since my build number G925AUCU1AOE2 (in order of recent release):
G920AUCU3BOJ7
G920AUCU3BOI2
G920AUCU2AOF4
G920AUCU2AOF3
As far as I can tell from http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/root-pingpongroot-s6-root-tool-t3103016 none of these are supported builds for a root. So I guess a root isn't possible for these AT&T builds, yet

Do not update if you want root.. to my knowledge only rootable up to oe2..
and those build versions are the same but if you do update youll need updated firmware for the G925A as the G920A is the regular s6 not the edge.
I'm still on 5.0.2 as well for root. I'm really not sure I need root, but damnit, I want it! I'm never buying another carrier branded phone. So sick of the lock-down of everything. Esp since they're not doing subsidized pricing anymore. No incentive to buy their branded one anymore. International version from now on!

G935AUCS4APK1 update today (Nov. 18 2016)

It's 49MB, Nov. 1 security update, Nov. 5 kernel build.
Thanks for the heads up, Gary. Keep em coming.
Is there a firmware install? Don't really want to install Sept FW then Ota
I hope it fixes the bugs from the last update. I had to hard reset yesterday thanks to that mess.
Installed. Not seeing anything added or removed, just the change in kernel and security patch date.
No info found
THERE IS NOTHING ON THE ATT WEBSITE ABOUT THIS ONE YET
That last hot mess OTA that dropped a few days ago made my phone laggy as hell hope this new update fixes that

Yes, they said it is an ATT problem and to contact them. I am waiting to hear back from ATT but I am not hopeful as I have never been a customer of them before.

If not go to best buy, they should be able to update it for you, if there's no other way.

I'm on cricket also. Only way your gonna get at&t ota is if you use a SIM card from at&t. Didn't have to be active just on there network.
Hello again, someone who can upload this update please, looking at Google the last firmware (PJ4) i only find it in pay forums, a Chinese page and another that looks German, when I look for a new update only tells me that I have the current (PI2), I am from different country, so, to me updating via OTA is not possible, If someone could upload it would be much appreciated.

Wow. It took over a month for the October Security patch and mere 10 days later for the November patch. Almost makes you wonder why they even bothered with the October patch.
about to go back to the ATT firmware later on today. Question: Since there is no Zip for the November update. If I do OTA from the September patch should I do a factory reset after November update. Ive always been wondering that.
After going back to 935a Sept patch. Try to update a of course. "Current software is up to date" ****ing hate AT&T! ???*
No PK4 zip yet. ????
I know this is just packaged as an Android Security update, but I'm having crazy good battery life since the update. Maybe just coincidence, but I'll take it.

[Question] How to debrand AT&T to unlocked firmware

Hey Guys,
I tried searching unsuccessfully for some answers on flashing stock unlocked firmware. I want to debloat and receive updates straight from Samsung and not AT&T. Do you guys now of any guides floating around? Or which firmware to flash (SM-N950u1) <-- Unlocked firmware?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I used this guide to flash my AT&T Note8 to Stock Unlocked Firmware https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/how-to/guide-sm-n950u-u1-t3685884
Pretty straight forward and afterwards no AT&T bloat. I even get better battery life.

What security patch are you on? Do you get OTA updates or do you have to manually update? Do you get LTE and LTE-A signals?

I'm on the August security patch only because I'm still debating on if I want to root or not as the newest security patch kills the possibility of root. As for OTA updates, there was one released a month or so back and I was able to update to it with no problems. As for LTE and LTE-A which I assume is LTE+? I get both with the same if not better speeds and signal strength.

Carrier gets updates first ... XAA update has Nov patch

It looks like a new firmware is coming (T700 only so far)

Sammobile has posted a number of regional T700 firmwares in the recent few weeks. The firmware patch level is from summer 2017, but it was built this summer. Bizarre, isn't it? Very un-samsung-like to release an update to four year old tablet. However, if they do release an update why not use the most recent Marshmallow AOSP codebase (I believe from r81 from October 2017) instead of summer of 2017?
Anyways, if this is not a hoax, I hope the T800 version would be coming some time as well.

I got my T800 Updated this morning. It was a France model and the version of the update is T800XXU1CRH1 dated august 2018 with august 2017 security.
The update says it was for the european GDPR law. So maybe just the euro models will be updated.
Got the update too. Confirm it says it is for GDPR. A whole update only for this? OK the security update is there, but they never bothered to keep it updated in that sense

Oh, that's disappointing. This means that these updates won't extend beyond Europe. Sammobile shows now that there is also an update for T800 (France only so far). I guess Samsung won't do a real miracle for our tablets, as in providing an up to date security patch level.
A new firmware was now also published for the T705 (TGY = Hongkong):

Thx for the info..the update is still on 6.0
Anyone know if its worth upgrading to and the noticable benefits? Thx
I have upgraded with the new TGY firmware. Security patch level is still February 2017, and I cannot see any visible changes. So I cannot report any noticable benefits yet.
Best, maris

Just got a prompt for an update on my 5 year Samsung sm-t800 in th UK. Its 253mb and I guess there is no improvement just a load of help files and data protection warnings in the os I guess. Does anyone know what is exactly in it..?
Heard a very strange 'ding' from my T800 (U.S WiFi only model) just now, and sure enough a new software update window was on the screen. At first I was thinking it was a 'fake' splash page since I had Chrome open, but alas it was not.
Firmware T800XAR1CRI5 @14.89MB.
Their last update was over a year and a half ago for this tablet, and it seems they are releasing an patch every year or so. (v6.01 09/2016, then patch 6.01 4/2017, and now patch 6.01 11/2018). So this original Tab S 10.5 is almost 5 years old and still getting security patches each year.
Also, I'm a bit baffled since I had 'Scheduled Software Updates' set to 'Off' and it still got it.

According to Sammobile, the Security Patch level of this firmware is only 2016-11-01. So, either this update is for something other than security patches, or Samsung does not report the patch level correctly. If the patch level is truly only at 2016-11-01 level, then this update does not address some of the famous security problems from recent times, such as the KRACK or Spectre. So I won't be pulling this firmware because my ROM is already modified, but I might use the new ROM if I decide to start from fresh setup.
Just got a notification for the US version on t-700. I'll flash in the morning. If I notice anything meaningful, I'll report back here.
Before and after, for your comparison. Kernel was updated, and SE as well. I'm guessing patching vulnerabilities there.

Even worse for me, it installed itself without my permission overnight without even a prompt. I don't have updates on just like you.
I notice the kernel version has a new date but is exactly the same version and build.
Seems strange that Samsung would push an update to such an old tablet. Hopefully they aren't trying to drum up sales for the S4 by breaking something.

Question S21 ultra still on one ui 3.0

I bought a used galaxy s21 ultra from a local store that buys & sells and used phones. It's network unlocked with att firmware. It is using Android 11 and one is 3.1. Its latest security patch is Sept 1 2021 When I attempt to update, the phone, it tells me that it's up to date.
Is it normal for a recent flagship device to be over a year behind on security updates and coming now it's about to be 2 Android versions behing
What is the version of your s21 ultra...
SM-G998U
You can check here what the latest firmware is for the phone:
https://samfrew.com/model/SM-G998U/
Change CSC maybe?
Can you post the exact build?
Prob someone manually flashing the wrong firmware on it so no AT&T OTAs will work, but easily fixed.
If you post the version it should be obvious.
