Hi,
Been trying to install root for a couple hours now, and this phone is starting to drive me insane.
I have unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP and all that... Came to the last step, install the SuperSU.zip to gain root access.
My phones storage is apparently encrypted, so as a workaround i put my zip on a MicroSD (as the zip was impossible to find from the phone root folder)
I have tried installing the package 2 times now, but every time i reboot i have not gained root access. This is really grinding on my nerves now, as i have rooted several phones before from Samsung, HTC and more... Only Huawei has caused a f*cking headache when rooting, i don't know why this is such a pain.
After a while i gave in and tried KingRoot, but they have no support for P10. Now my phone is wiped, has an unlocked bootloader and so on, i really don't want to leave it without root access now.
What can i do to get the SuperSU package installed properly?
----- EDIT ------
SU is found, but no root access
AMI ME PASA LO MISMO, NO PUEDO ACCEDER A LA MEMORIA INTERNA DESDE TWRP, NOSE PORQUE.
AHORA, LA SOLUCIÓN PARA TU PROBLEMA ES FLASHEAR OTRO ROOT( el supersu no funciona )
Try
SupersuEmui5
100% working P10.

Notes :
- This method of root won't delete any data but backup your important data just in case of the process corrupt your data
- System status of your device will be changed to custom
- After Rooting you will not be able to update your device via OTA
- Use it at your own risk, I'm not responsible if something goes wrong
- "VROOT" support more than 3500 several android devices (Samsung, HTC, Sony, Motorola, ...)

This works for At&t for sure. This is what I'm using and it's sick. Nice clean up options integrated. Love this. Just needs the English update which is coming soon.
Just so y'all know. This works on our At&t Note 3's. I just did this method and it took maybe 2 mins. Everything is fine and now I can do what I want.

yeah your right it does work however now there is chinese notifications everytime something tries to gain root and the first samsung screen is changed to display custom with a lock on it. I recommend that people still use DG's method. I dont know if I totally trust this. I may have to reload to get this off mine.

Your still going to be custom status. This just faster and the Knox stuff is not tripped. Vroot or Kingo Root. As far as the Chinese stuff, I have root and this superuser is fine. I will change later to maybe supersu. I have froze all the bloat running my battery down and I'm loving root. It has begun
Ps. Have you ever used viper4android? It also has this look but works great if not one of the best.
Changing to supersu at the moment isn't allowed. I cannot install the binaries for it.

We should be able to change soon. Right now it doesn't matter to me. This works fine. More ways and work arounds will be out soon, look how fast this and Kingo added in the mix. (I didn't try Kingo) this one was so fast and does the job period.
Day two. Battery life is even better today. I let the phone die down to 4% using it yesterday all day. Then charged it all night till this morning when I got up. I have used it all morning and still have 98% battery left. I went ahead and installed Greenify *ROOT: Renew my Phone >> Get it here its great >>>> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify&hl=en

I want the SuperSU app from the playstore because its in English.
Anybody want to do this too?
I did it....Here is what I did.
Uninstalled Superuser (Vroot Superuser used) using Titanium Back Up
Rebooted phone
Used Kingo Root
It asked if I wanted to uninstall root > Hit YES
Then reboot phone and Kingo.
Run Kingo and let the Root Begin !!!
It works and I have SuperSU now.....ENGLISH....
Installed Xposed and Wanam and removed custom status with Official.
It also removed the Lock (Custom Icon) on boot screen.
Kingo is the way to go guys.

really weird why XDA is blocking VROOT and KINGO, just because VROOT is Chinese language ?
I read chinese and basically i see nothing wrong with those root software at all.
and most important is knox counter does not trip at all.

The issue was VROOT was accessing chinese servers after installation. Who know what it was sending.
Software update after Kingo root
Hey guys I have the ATT software update notification after I have successfully done root using this method. My guess is no but does anyone know if it is ok to install this update after establishing root using the Kingo method?
Uggh!

Woke up this morning and looked at my phone the update said waiting to reboot and then it updated itself - couldn't stop it and now have lost root - weird this is though that now I am on MJ5 it didn't wipe the phone but the phone besides not having root seems to be running just fine.
Does anyone know if I was to run Kingo again would it restore root and not brick my phone?

Hey thanks - yeah I broke down and just tried it with Kingo and it worked great
Where is the explaination of what is wrong with kingo/vroot that's getting links to them removed from all threads? I'm really confused, because everyone seems to be using kingo or vroot, and saying it's fine and they have no problems - but here we're being told (without any reference or link to more information or evidence) that these are malware.

It's because of the info Kingo retrieves from Rooting your device. IMEI Number, Serial Number and Etc.....They dont need our IMEI number to root and thats really why XDA was like "HOLD UP"....Plus its not open source. I was using Kingo root on my last phone (Rejected Phone) but not on my replacement YET. I really want to wait for a trusted XDA method now. Not saying that Kingo or Vroot are malware, (Kingo doesn't get your IMEI anymore I was told) Kingo updated and there is ver 2.0 coming soon. I went to their Facebook and felt they were honest and concerned about the issues XDA was having. Its up to y'all if you want to do this.

I've seen it mentioned that people on MI1 haven't been able to get the update to show up. I would reroot with the MI9 and that would also replace your AT&T update app. Make sure you use the survival mode in SuperSU to keep root after the update.
Yes m1 will not take update! I had to flash m9 last night and immediately received the ota!
Sent from my Note 3 SM-N900A rooted by Designgears
If you plan on upgrading anyways, go ahead and use the one click odin from the mi9 dlv thread. That will put you bone stock mi9 and you will recieve the mj5 ota with no issues
Hi,
I am searching all week for some root method that don't trigger knox
I found 2 possible solutions, but none of them worked for me, maybe work for someone else so..
The 2 solutions are: vroot and kingoapp. I will not post links here because some people do not completely trust them, they are not open source, they CAN get some information about your phone that them actually don't need to do the rooting, etc. I used vroot in my L9 and it works, but installs a chinese app that i kickly get rid off, but anyway:
First of all: Some steps must be followed due to security enhancements on 4.2+. You must have adb 1.0.31 ()
-Extract the downloaded zip to a folder
-In your phone, go to Settings/More/About Phone> tap 6 times in Build Number and a pop should appear saying you are a developer
-Go back to Settings/More/Developer Options and check the USB debugging box
-Run cmd, navigate to the folder you extrated and run:
Code:
adb devices
-You must see a prompt in your phone, this is to trust the PC your are using to run the adb commands, check the box and this message will not appear anymore when you use that PC
-Download one of the apps i commented above (Windows only, i think), the two are very similar. You can also try both, maybe one of them work. For me none of them worked but maybe someone have more lucky than me
-Open the app, if the adb steps were successful, it should recognize your phone and show the model (vroot) or just asking for root (kingoapp). Vroot is in chinese, but if your phone is recognized, it should show the phone model and a green button appear in right bottom.
-Click on the green button in vroot or in ROOT in kingoapp to start the rooting proccess. I saw a video this is being done in a Note 3 and the phone rebooted about 3 times. I think if your phone reboot more than that, the method fails.
After the reboots you can install Root Checker and see if it worked. Feedback about root the new 4.3 firmware are more than welcome and, as i said, for me none of these worked, but you can try it out
Doesn't work for me too, I have already tried universal root de la vega also (doesn't work with exynos chips), kingo also doesn't work, I will try Vroot tonight but i don't think it will work. We must wait for another root method to root without triggering knox or universal root de la vega for exynos.

Had anybody successfully rooted 6.0 yet, and if so, can you point me to the right place. Just got 2 of these devices for my son and daughter, and my son likes his rooted, but it updated to marshmallow the first night he had it. Have found several guides to rooting 5.1.1, but don't want to risk since muy wife would kill me if I mess it up.

I got success, but I used SuperSU 2.46.
Basically, you do the following steps:
1. Backup your data
2. Copy necessary files onto memory card.
3. Boot into bootloader and unlock it.
4. Boot into bootloader reboot into TWRP and install SuperSU
5. Update the binary and restore data
That's it.

I'm trying kingroot den supersume to get supersu but it's saying no root in, root checker. Can dis dam thing even b rooted with a custom recovery?
I uploaded the 20.1.A0.47 kernel for you, this allows rooting with Towelroot. I'm assuming you know how to use the Flashtool (not the one from Sony). Make sure you have all the drivers installed for the device and then just click the lightning icon up in the toolbar. Choose the ftf file which you extract from the zip, and flash it into your device. The phone will boot up and all, and then you can just download and install Towelroot from towelroot.com. And you should be rooted! Just install SuperSU, update the binaries and you're good to go.
If you have recovery installed, like CWM or TWRP, you can grab a SuperSU zip file and install that and it should be rooted, but I'm not sure whether it actually works. The upper solution will always work.
