They're many reviews out there complaining about the G5 Plus's horrible loud speaker and a really low max volume.
Have these problems been fixed with the G5S Plus?
personally, it sounds amazing and loud to me. the headphone jack could be a bit louder but i fix that with mods

You need to root the phone for most, if not all mods, ya? You aren't referring to viper4android? I've heard it works great.
I had one of those big clunky early smart phones, I think it was called the MDA, and I remember that you needed a PC to root the phone. Is that still the case, or can you root with Mac?

External speaker is loud, just not very good. Earpiece is a tad low about same as my 6p. Root - try reading 1 of the posts already available for more info.

Since I can't experience an SGNote in a store yet, curious how its speaker compares? (heard it mentioned that it could be better considering its size)
P.S. - I choose the EVO over Nexus S because of it's louder-better speaker & its larger screen..better for nav etc

The speaker is louder than my GSI and GSII however it is more tinnyer sounding than both.

Volume+
The speaker isn't that weak, but it's crystal clear. It matches the sound of my Klipsch Image S4's.

I'd try it on my EVO's solid speaker now if I wasn't still getting "Insufficient storage available" errors despite its 1GB internal & 32GB card (rather not delete my apps).. another reason I want a new handheld, hopefully AT&T will announce availability at CES in a few weeks or I can see it in person & order it unlocked sooner. Glad to hear the SGNote speaker is clear & not that weak.
-Thanks
Forget volume+ as it's not very effective plus gives you errors/crashes...
Look for ''equalizer'' in the market place. It's a free app which works perfect and boosts audio by at least 80% or more...
Hey everyone, I've been pretty happy with my Xperia Z until yesterday when I was out and people called me and I couldn't really hear anything they said as the volume was too low in the earphone.
The earphone was / is clean and dry and I have tried different settings and of course max volume etc but it just seems to be too low?
Anyone had any better success with talking or rather listening to people trying to talk to you in traffic or noisy environments?
Surely Sony's flagship phone must let you actually hear what people say when they are calling you?
EDIT: I actually tried the service menu and the tests are pretty loud and very clear compared to calls... so at least the hardware seems to be ABLE to do it's job...

I find the sound quality from the earpiece terrible. It's not only quiet but very muffled and I can't really hear people on the phone even in quiet environments. I'm going to take the phone back because of this!

If you haven't yet, try turning off the Speaker voice enhancement under Call settings. That actually improved the in-call sound quality quite a bit for me.

Hm mine was off but turned it on now to see differences, will have a go tomorrow. Also there is a EQ for calls there as well that I haven't tried yet. I'm hoping that it's just the firmware that needs some extra push as the service menu proves Z can provide some serious quality in the hardware...
please confirm your problem here , so sony support can see this

Yes the problem still remains no matter what settings you do... I wonder if a rooted phone with a sound mod might increase the volume on the call side...?

Hello Guys
I want to get the SP , but I heard from some reviews that it have a very low audio volume when using headphones , is that true? and if it is true how low is it, I'm taking the subway everyday to work and I'm afraid that I won't hear my music , I don't care about the loudspeakers I'm setting my phones to vibration anyway. thanks
Its loud on headset but a noun for the ear.
Maybe the end of the test jis helpful.

yes I saw the gsmarena test but it says on the description the sound when pluging a headphone is pretty low
hmmm , I guess I'll look for something else , too lame that sony is one of the leading companies in Audio products but they can't make a phone with proper audio quality .
I like the sp so much it looks good perform good but something little as sound volume can mess it up.
No complaints here. I use headphones while running and I use etymotics while on the motorcycle (in a helmet). I'm no audiophile and it sounds just great to me. Clean and crisp.

Thanks for replying , but what do u think about the loudness , is it enough or its low?
The standard headset that comes with the SP just sucks, plug in your average headphones and there is nothing to complain about..
Thanks a lot guys
the sound is awesome, like others have said the standard earphones suck terribly. i use my sp with a surround system in my room and it sounds just as good as my mac or iPod which have magnificent audio. the built in speaker is LOUD much louder than an iPhone or s4 and theres minimal distortion at max volume
Hello! There's a way to install v4a on emui 9? I have root with magisk.

I just got this phone, if there's no audio route I could go rooting device before tehn I am retruning back to mate 9 !
good luck here
Mate 10 ALP-L29 on EMUI 9's audio (from headphone jack) is one of the cleanest sounding outputs I've heard using my triple driver hybrid IEMs.
Sad that NO ONE is talking about it!

Absolutely right. I've used this device for a Year now and I really don't see a reason for some audio enhancement software, since the sound is just great anyhow I play it. I've listened my favorite tracks thru wired and bluetooth headsets, streamed over wifi and bluetooth dongles, and couldn't find anything less satisfying than my other phones. I have been using V4A and Dolby Atmos earlier on my Note, but I must say I really don't miss it at all.
Not trying to criticize, just posting my opinion.

Agree on audio through wired headphones!
However, in the car, i need a little bit of control with EQ and Soundstage / Reverb, and V4A provides those options. ATM, I'm using RE Equalizer and if only it's stable (enable / disable the switch to make it work), I don't feel the need for V4A
My. 6p was much louder with viper than mate 10 pro on aux. Can't agree it could be louder and more bass sound.
I've heard that the front facing speaker is pretty bad from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/red-magic-3/help/red-magic-3-sound-t3936225
I was wondering what other users think, how does it compare to the speakers on the Galaxy S8/9? (I know that the ones on the S10 sound good enough). How loud do the speakers get? What's the DTS apk which was mentioned in the thread I linked? Do you guys think the sound quality can be fixed with root access equalizers like viper4android?
Also is there a reason why the real life reviews forum is empty? I can't seem to find many reviews for this device, so I'd love it if more people would post their impressions!
The sound quality is excellent if you use v4a to tune the speakers. I've suggested it a few times but nobody has done it.
