Hey
im experiencing bad tearing in games i.e iron blade, injustice 2 etc. In both nougat and oreo.
I have also observed it gets worse when u write over screen. Google game's recording makes the whole screen tearing bad.
Anyone has the same issue?
Nokia 8 version TA1004
Oreo 8 Beta
Touch panel V0.19_0.19
V1.05.27_LV
Tearing is normally caused by the frame rate being different to the refresh rate of the screen, without vsync there isn't a lot you can do about it.
forwarded feedback to nokia and they asking me to mail gameloft. Cleared cache and tried playing. strange enough, the tearing poofed. lol

Hi, this is David. I have the optimus 4x, and i have to admit that it's one of the best devices i've owned so far, i've just been wondering about a few issues that shouldn't exist with a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM. I will list them here and wish anyone could help.
1- The Camera
Not the video focusing issue which is fixed after the V10e update, now it's photos turn. When i open the camera, everything looks sharp and great, but it's not after capturing the photo because when i look at the photo in the gallery, it's somehow out of focus and the picture looks ugly overall. I've tried resetting the camera settings and tried other camera apps but no difference.
2-Game lags
That's something i saw people talking about and they said that these games aren't optimized for Tegra 3 because it was new in the market. So now why they're still lagging, even very basic games like subway surfers.
3-Incoming call screen lag
This screen is represented in two ring buttons (accept or reject) with waves coming out of them, i have to say this screen is very laggy so i can't just swipe my finger to accept the call but i have to do it slowly and wait a second before it's done of accepting the call.
4-Youtube
Sometimes a video lags once or twice in a 5 mins video which doesn't happen when watching other videos in gallery.
Yes, i know that's too much issues but what makes me confused is the device's overall speed when browsing the web and others... Even the benchmarks are showing excellent scores that sometimes beat the HTC one X. So what could be the problem?!
2. - on my , lags also Tegra optimized games ... so LG FW suck ... wait for JB, and after that (if stock dont fix it) come CM
Odd... I've had two different Call screens. One was with the circles to swipe like the S2/S3, the other was with square buttons to tap. Don't remeber in what app I was when the screen changed tho.
I've never noticed the lag in the incoming call screen, or maybe I didn't bother with it. As for YouTube it naever game me issues.

one is when you recieve a call while device is locked (the swype one), the other one is when you recieve the call when it's unlocked (button one)
i have no lag on youtube, gaming is great with a slowdown now-and-then (NFS MW, for example. Vice City played with no lag at all), and camera is as good as any smartphone, even though i didn't quite test it as mmuch as i should've.

Oh I see, I got the button call once when I was messing around with my phone (First day I got it).
Vice City gives me no issues whatsoever, no lag at all just a short audio pause once in a while but hadly noticeble.
NFS works well IF there are only 2-3 card rendered on-screen, otherwise the framerate just drops. I believe it's the reflections... if there would be a way to disable them on other cars and keep them on yours the game would run smooth. Funny how the lag itself gives me a warning.. if framerate drops be sure there's a roadblock ahead.
All the other games I've played so far are smooth (Asphalt 7, NOVA 3, Shadowgun.)
As for the camera, I haven't really tried it. I'm not the photo-taker kind of guy.

I don't know what's wrong with your phone. It's rather odd.
I'm on Stock ICS with v10h (no flashes, no root, I have the phone as I recieved it). I'm halfway trought Asphalt 7 same as for Vice City.
NOVA 3 gave some lag issues on the first level then it stopped. Shadowgun (Specially the second one, the multiplayer) gave me no lag at all, everything is fine.
The one thing that bugs me about the phone currently is the poor battery life. Think that if you have 2150 mAh your battery would last, but nope. It's the poor LG software and bloadware that sucks it up, I might root my phone once JB rools out to get rid of some useless services.
Hello there, i've noticed some gpu artifacts in games like in the videos below (look at the left side of the screen):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aX0Cr98Doi8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=20&v=q3HrAfVm-3I
They're pretty random, but it can easy be reproduced while changing volume.
Do any of you face this bug?
Just tried it with PUBG mobile, can not reproduce this..

do you have asphalt 9, if yes can you test it?
Yeah, I have the same issue. But if you start the match in PUBG, there won't be any artefacts. I would guess it is game related, cause the artefact only in the main menu.
it was happened on my xz1 on oreo, but its gone with pie update

Hi, i have the same problem with artifacts, and they also reproduced every time by pressing volume button. I also noticed that when you change the screen resolution in the game to a lower one, the size of the area with artifacts increases, so the problem is probably not in the display itself, it is in the GPU.
It is strange that there are so few reviews about this here, because judging by the Russian-speaking forum 4 PDA - the problem is quite common.
Also, i just find interesting thing , If you enter the developers menu and turn on the "Disable hardware overlay" option, the artifacts disappear ?. discovered just that, in the game oddworld new n tasty.
THANK YOU
I had ssme isue on my XPERIA XZ PREMIUM (pie) in oddworld, mudrunner and ark, u saved me from giving up on this rom
Has anyone else noticed that the 60hz setting on this phone isn't actually 60hz but 60.3?
Am annoyed with this because I really wanted to use this phone a lot for emulation on the go but am getting micro stutters with emulation because of this.
For example. Ppsspp on games like ridge Racer will micro stutter on races due to the game wanting to play at 60hz but the screen being 60.3hz
Retroarch is the same on emulators.
The best way to check this is happening is to install an emulator like snes9x ex, and run a rom at default settings. You will see the stutter. Mario kart for example on the title screen is easy to spot this.
However, if you allow the game to run at detected screens refresh (which is actually 60.34hz) then the game runs flawlessly.
What gives? I'd assume on a phone primarily sold for gaming purposes this refresh rate would be totally nailed down to 60.00?
Is there anything I can do to fix this?
No one else has this issue?
I've updated to latest official WW firmware and the problem is not solved. I've even done a complete reset and problem still exists. Can only assume at this point that the 60hz mode actually isn't 60hz at all. That'll be enough for me to go back to the black shark 2 until this is resolved, if ever. ?
Does anyone emulate using retroarch or anything on this phone at all?
If so, how do you get literally anything to run smoothly? Messing with the phone even more and I cannot get rid of micro stutter. Im even getting it on 60fps locked android games? Is this issue just my phone or are people just ignoring the problem?

I emulate through citra mmj, dolphin & ps2damon. Not facing any frame-related issues. I add these apks to armory crate and lock them to 60 fps regardless of the phones global refresh rate. Although I did not face any problems prior to doing this. I've also been playing regular android games in both 60 & 120 fps without issues. The only funny problem I've found is that many game engines lock their speed to fps, so if you force 120 on unsupported games, many will run in x2 speed.
I've never heard of retroarch before, what are the benefits?
EDIT: I'm on WW .34

I suppose with emulators for PS2 and GameCube etc the problem will be less obvious because games are prone to slight frame drops anyway because they don't quite run full speed all of the time.
Retroarch is basically an all in one UI that has loads of emulators all under one roof.
I boot all emulators at 60 through the crate but it doesn't make a difference.
I know it's an issue where the 60hz mode isn't actually 60, it's slightly off it. What I'm trying to figure out is whether it's an issue with my phone( some weird hardware fault) or an issue with all Rog 2 phones.
You'll only really see the problem with games or emulators that are a hard lock to 60fps.
So emulators like SNES, genesis, GBA, ppsspp or playstation 1 it's quite easy to see.
Its a common problem in cheap Chinese tablets where they don't nail down the refresh rates, but didn't think it would be in a high end gaming phone.
Edit:
I've had one other person test in snes9xex and he's getting the same issue as me so it seems it might be a phone issue. Hopefully it gets fixed in future firmwares, I don't know
I am extremely disappointed to know that Honor didn't bother fixing this screen touch delay issue that I have been having for more than 12+ Months. Ever since I bought this phone, I have had constant touch delay on every FPS Game except PUBG and that's the only game doesn't even have this issue. I've contacted Honor and they didn't even respond back at all, they just ignored my emails for no reason. When you put one finger on the display, it works perfectly and there's no problem at all, however when I put two fingers on the screen, there's this 100ms input delay and it feels horrible. I know this is a software issue but are there any ways to fix this?
Did you update to the latest emui?
Hi guys, i just bought this phone for playing pubg exclusively. but im a littel bit dessapointed because after 40min-one hour of gaming the game starts lagging a lot at 43degress aprox. i dont know if i have to mod any configuration or what i have to do to play at 60fps for almost 2 hours. my last xiaomi mi 8 gets very hot while playing during 2 hours but it doesnt has frames drops with his sd845 procesor.
please if somebody could show his configuration for this game.
thanks in advance.
Yeah man... we know. It's not about the hardware (power left, overheating, etc.), it's something related to software. For me it works perfect 95% times, but lately is more lagged, even with Kirisakura 2.0. And heay, it's around 40-43º after some period time playing...
Let's see future Beta's
Or just install A9. Maybe goes a bit better.
Go to the Armory Crate and under Pubg Mobile's scenario profile set the temperature control to High. If you still get frame drops you can set X mode to Advanced. These are the settings I use currently and it runs perfectly.

yup I noticed this helps me to keep the pubg in 60fps and the temperature around 39-42°C. but i wonder why, previously there was no problem at all. is it pubg's fault in recent updates or rog's software fault. by the way i was previously updated to android 10, but since pubg is so bad in that build and pubg fps dropped due to overheat, i downgraded to android 9. but now i can feel the problem is still there. or maybe pubg was not optimizing their game for rog2. well, i am still dreaming of 120hz of pubg for this phone, and such a disappointment its been half a year without any update of it.
