So I just recently picked up the US unlocked version of the XZ1C at my local Best buy. I've been reading the tutorials on how to flash the firmware and I was hoping for screenshots of the process on how to flash the Customized UK firmware over using Newflasher. I am not too familiar with Newflasher, so please can someone upload screen shots step-by-step to help me!
-I just finished downloading the UK Firmware:
G8441_Customized UK_1310-6856_47.1.A.2.374_R12B
and the US Firmware:
G8441_Customized US_1310-4371_47.1.A.2.324_R8B
I have Newflasher v10 installed already as well. I've been reading about the different type of fines to add and delete, but do not understand how to use Newflasher.
****12/11/2017
Update:
So after a good week or so of researching and trying to crack the fingerprint scanner. I was able to successfully flash the UK firmware over into my Xz1 Compact. I was able to successfully activate it back in the late weeks of November. I was extremely nervous about the process because I have never used Newflasher and was scared of bricking my device, but the process was fairly simple, easy and worked! Once I get back home after work, I will see if I can post some snapshots of how I flashed the firmware over to help everyone out! Thank you everyone for all your help!! In return, I will upload those screenshots!

I'm about to pick one of these up at Best Buy this afternoon for $358 open box and would love to know where you downloaded those firmware files! I'd also like more info on the newsflash app. Everyone I've seen on here that knows anything about it says to look at the OP for the XZ Premium. Even though that phone is in the same family, the files are different and a step by step for the XZ1 Compact would be awesome!

Thank you. Do you know if there are better instructions with pictures?
I have a related question. I'm in the US and want to flash another region's firmware to get a working fingerprint scanner on 47.1.A.5.51. My carrier does not support VOLTE or Wifi calling, so I don't need to flash parts of the US firmware. Is there a particular one I should be flashing? I saw in another thread that people were flashing at least parts of the Austrian T-mobile firmware. Would it be reasonable just to flash that for use in the US, or will I have a problem? Would it be better to flash UK Customized and wait for the update?

Got XZ1 Compact from Best Buy. LOVE IT! Want fingerprint sensor; just ordered UK version from Clove in England. Anyone else done this? Delivery time? Phone works well in US? Anything I should know?
Sony CSR said phone will work same as US version, plus fingerprint sensor; said it's worth it. Thanks!

***It is fairly common for people to flash over the UK Customized Firmware over. Once you do that, the default language and region will be UK and there are some UK bloatware installed, but you can always disable them and uninstall them.

Can someone who has an unbranded Xperia Z with UK FW please dump/create a FTF and post the ROM here?
The only generic FW posted here is from a demo device unfortunately.
Thanks.
I got mine from Carphone Warehouse earlier today and I haven't touched it yet so I might be able to help. Not sure how to make a ftf from it though..

That'd be awesome though it's a bit of work...
The basic instructions are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27031352
Note that doing this WILL re-flash your phone (because the update can't be stopped after it has downloaded) so you may not want to go ahead.
You will also need to use the beta Flashtool for Xperia Z to actually decrypt the files. Then you can load them up in full Flashtool and proceed to make FTF out of it (I think, didn't do this myself, I stopped after decrypting them).
I would suggest not doing this if you're not tech savvy.
+1 for this, im expecting mine to be vodafone branded, that'll annoy me pretty quickly!

In the meantime you can safely flash the French generic firmware posted here. It's full-retail and I've been using it. As all firmwares in this part of the world are multilingual anyway there isn't much difference.
But yeah, UK FW would be nice...
Question: if I flash non-branded firmware (French for example) and then use Sony Update Service to re-install my firmware, which firmware will it download? French unbranded? The branded one I had before from my carrier? UK unbranded?

Looks simple enough. I'll have a look at doing this in a little while. At the moment, I'm just doing some modding of SystemUI which I'll post about when I'm done. Then I can sort this out for you.

It re-downloads the currently running one. If you already reflashed the phone and didnt note down your SI you may never go fully back to stock if you cant find the FTF of the exact firmware you were originally running.

Hi All,
I have purchased a Z3+ in the UK on contract through O2, and am quite frankly sick of the O2 branding on it, as well as having to wait longer after Android Updates are released.
Where can I download a stock Z3+ Android version, and flash it into my device without rooting/unlocking and loosing any features or voiding my warranty?
Thanks in advance! :good:
Cheers,
Seb
Because there are plenty of howtos on every android related site the answer is short: Get Flashtool and XperiFirm.
With XperiFirm you can download an unbranded firmware and with Flashtool you can flash it to your device. No root, etc. required. The firmwares you download with XperiFirm are downloaded directly from Sony servers and no data is modified/added; the original files just get decrypted and repacked in a new and easy to handle format (one FTF file).

Thanks a LOT an3k, much appreciated.
Since I am running Mac, I won't be able to use XperiFirm I'm afraid, but Flashtool works! Do you know if anyone has made the appropriate Firmware available for the X3+, even if it is slightly outdated (i.e. 5.0.1 - can update via Playstore later, no?)?
Thanks,
Seb

You're welcome. I just got my Z3+ today but have plenty of experience with the Z2.
For the Z2 there was a stick thread that collected all the FTF files created by users and there is one (not sticky yet) for the Z3+ but it's not that well maintained and supported as the Z2 one was. In fact it only lists Asian firmwares and those are all branded.
I'll download the most recent unbranded UK firmware, create a FTF and upload it to Google Drive so you can use that one. Should be there in ~30 minutes.

In the thread I mentioned, it includes the Customized UK firmware (1295-7703). But it's the older version. Anyways, might be good for you to download the latest .24 and then share the link here.

Oh, you're absolutely right. I thought all these versions are for the asian provider "ChoiMobile" but after taking a closer look I saw it's a forum
The latest for UK is E6553_28.0.A.7.27_1295-7703_R6A.ftf which I'm currently uploading.
I'm surprised that the Z2 already got Android 5.1.1 (yesterday) but the Z3+ is still on 5.0.2
Wow thanks a lot for all this, much appreciated!
The firmware you're uploading, that's the untouched UK firmware I can flash straight away via flashtool?

Yes, you just have to activate one checkbox but everything is simple. I'll write down the things you have to take care about together with the download link once the upload is done.

Good question! Haven't seen any changelog yet!
Is .27 even official yet? Should be!
Im not sure if anyone has the answer to this...
I happened to be in Taiwan at the weekend when the Note 5 launched.
I visited an official concession at a department store where I had the opportunity to ask the salesman a few questions. He assured me that the model (N9208), would be the same one that would be launching in the Philippines (where I live). I took his word for it and purchased the phone. I had the opportunity to visit a Samsung store today to find that the software (keyboard etc) is very different on the Philippines version (still an N9208)!
I love the phone but English (UK) is my first language and the Philippine version supports it much better than the Taiwanese version. The handwriting pad is the most noticeable difference as it is set up for inputting characters as opposed to writing sentences...
I was hoping to change this; N9208ZTU1AOH3_N9208ZZT1AOH3_BRI
to this; N9208XXU1AOGE_N9208OLB1AOGF_XTC
I was hoping to keep it as official as possible.
Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.
Why do people do this? Buy a phone that's not for a region they live in cause they "can't wait" or some other excuse? If I want a phone for the US, I'm not going to go to the UK to get it......

Ok, nvm LOL. Didn't think of it that way, forgot there is no UK launch for Note 5.
No custom ROMs (or even root) yet, I believe -- but I'm a Note 4 user and I sometimes use Google's own handwriting keyboard in place of Sammy's solution. It installs as an alternate keyboard.
I find that It works best when paired with Google's own keyboard. Both should be available to download on your device since Google now releases their apps on a stand-alone basis (i.e. it won't replace your stock Sammy keyboard).
Hope that helps while you wait for a custom ROM.

Thank you. I have been using Stylus Beta from the Play store in the meantime. The google one was great but I have found writing sentences much more fluid with the stylus app. I recommend checking it out!

just flash it with odin...they are compatable.......all the firmware for n9208 will flash no problem
youve given me an idea to do it now ,,,,i have same problem
just curious why you picked xtc firmware
Hi, the firmware I picked is from the Philippines. English is widely spoken, especially in business etc so it's the best bet for full English support of the N9208 I believe. I think the firmware I picked is the carrier free version although I need to double check.
I'm very tempted to use Odin but my only holdup is Knox. Samsung pay is launching imminently and I would hate to miss out if my phone becomes unofficial!
Any idea if it would be effected?

Yes, you need to enable 'OEM unlock' before you can flash with Odin. Same happened on my N920C when i tried to flash a custom kernel: always failed until I changed the OEM unlock.

Don't think this have anything to do with it as i remember seeing that on my Galaxy S6 as well.
Could you try to flash another compatible software? I had the same problem once with my S6 which was LUX, tried to flash a firmware from the Netherlands on it and would fail as well, but then tried a French one and it flash without problems.
Or you might want to go look if there's a solution in the Galaxy S6 (and Edge) forums. I wasn't the only one with that problem but since I could flash the French firmware i've never bothered to further look into it.

Which firmwares have you tried flashing on your N9208 ? I was gonna try to flash the N920T firmware on my N9208. I have a t-mobile sim in my N9208 and I want wifi calling and the new t-mobile video calling feature.
I only tried n9208 firmwares on sammobile... Malaysia... Philippine... and some unknown ones
never thought trying others...
could others be used safely?
I just wanted to change keyboard because chinese characters keep coming up!

the one that fails is the modem I dont know why ,maybe if someone could provide as with a flashable modem zip (of n920c for example) would be great.
To change just the system
I unziped the firmware of the n9208 then I replaced the cache.img and system.img with the ones of a n920c rom.
then build up the tar file and flashed with odin. Rooted and flashed TPWR after.
everything works except nfc probable from the baseband that is different.
Thats why I am asking of a flashable modem..
Tried Dr.Ketans rom also but I lost signal.

Thats why I am asking of a flashable modem..
Tried Dr.Ketans rom also but I lost signal.

Hello all. Trying to flash a brand new Best Buy sourced US X1Zc G8441 with the following details to get the fingerprint sensor working.
Software version 1308-8921_47.1.A.2.324
File system GENERIC_47.1.A.2.324
Customization 1310-4371-R8B
What is the list of fewest files I need to flash to get the fingerprint sensor working? I'd like to avoid flashing a different region firmware. This phone will be on AT&T and needs HD voice/VoLTE/VoWiFi. Thanks in advance.

Exactly the problem, 500 ways to slice bread all claiming the best results. Hoping somebody can point me to a list of the fewest .sin files that when flashed to a US XZ1c will get the fingerprint sensor working. Don't need a guide to flashing.

AFAIK, ONLY phones sold specifically by AT&T and using the AT&T branded firmware will be able to use AT&T HD Voice.
The XZ1C is not sold by AT&T with their rom, so it cannot use AT&T HD Voice.
The minimum file you need to get fingerprint to work is simply to flash basically any other region's stock rom. It's just one flash. I recommend CE1 or UK. You'll even get faster updates that way. You only need to flash additional files on top of that if you want T-Mobile VoLTE/WifiCalling to work, but doing so will break OTA updates.
Hi guys,
I need advice for the s21 Ultra that i bought on Rakuten. In the description the seller said it was an international/US version and at this time I didn't know that it could cause problems knowing that I live in France. I have the G998U/DS version
For now the phone is working perfectly. I don't have all the problem i can see in other thread like the broken GPS, a poor network, wallet broken etc. Everithing is ok.
But i need advice for the last update with Android 13. Actually i get the Android 12. And of course the phone does not offer me any updates. I know this is because i have a US version and i live in France.
So question 1 : Do you think I will eventually get the update in the future ?
Question 2 : If I install the update by flashing the phone, won't I have all the problems that others have with this us version and living in France ?
Thanks for your support fox.

Hi,
If everything is working out of the box, then you shouldn't worry much. It's always better to install the update via OTA. It doesn't matter where you live/use the device, as long as there's an update for your device (Snapdragron chipset and CSC), it should automatically show up. If you want to install the update manually, then it's better to download the official update via Frija and install the update via Odin.
Hi,
Thanks a lot for your answer. It help me a lot.
About the update, i read everywhere that where we live/use the device is impact the update. For now i don't have any update that show up. I am in Android 12 and i should have the android 13 update.
Lot of people said that i probably never had the update because it's an import us version and live in France.
What about that ? Do you thinks i will get the update in the future ?
Thanks again
It seems you are on a March update. I have a feeling your device's was a locked device which was then unlocked...I could be wrong through...https://samfrew.com/model/SM-G998U/ Here's what I could pull up regarding your device's update. You need to careful on which file you download as I don't see any OXM ROMs for US devices...they are provided by carriers.
Ok,
I think in my case, update will not be possible. I'll stay in Andoird 12 until next phone. Never buy again in Rakuten ahah.
Thanks for all your help.
Remove SIM, use VPN to connect US and try update over wifi.

Just try and not working but that was a good idea
When i chek on Frija, he give me this :
What do you think about this update ?
Edit : this firmware contains these files
If you are sure of the CSC, go ahead. The reason is yours is not OXM rom so you have to be extremely careful when choosing the files.

Ok, thanks, i think i'll do the update.
To be sure, you mention a OXM ROM but i can see that i have o OYN rom like you see in this screen :
I really can't place the device's region. There's no region called GCF in Samfrew. I feel it's a subset of another region. Dunno
Finally I did not dare to flash my phone, I am too afraid that I can not use it anymore
Anyway, thank you very much for your help
