I only have one HDMI port on the back of my PC and it's the one coming out of my video card.
My monitor doesn't have HDMI nor I have a separate HDMI on the back of my build.
Can I make it work somehow?

Nope sorry you can't. Your plugging an output into an output. Now having said that, does the video card have HDMI input? Most don't but just thought I'd check.

You could get an HDMI to VGA or displayport adapter

True. That would work to plug it into the VGA or DVI of a computer monitor.

That's all well and good if he just wants to run a picture slideshow or something, but anything else is going to be problematic because there won't be any sound.

Also true. You can get HDMI to DVI that also allows for a separate audio output.

I've seen hdmifull and hdmwin out there, but my questions are one, is playback upscaled, and two, which app really works best. Any input would be great. Thanks!

I haven't connected via hdmi but from what I understand no app is needed, it's a full mirror. I would imagine it also upscales accordingly.

Thst is correct you get the full image on your tv and xoom at the same time with no app needed just plug in to your hdtv and your set
Yeah, piece of cake. I've had no issues including playing Super Mario Bros 3 on my 65" DLP
There is a slight overscan but doesn't really affect it. And it is still displayed on the Xoom at the same time.
Nice! Thanks guys!

Does the Xoom output 720p or 1080p?

720p. I don't know if apps have the ability to increase that though
This would mean that there is no real benefit to having 1080p videos playing from it because even if you have a 1080p T.V. the Xoom is only outputting 720p. I was going to share some of my converted movies at a friends house from my Xoom and this means I can just do a batch conversion to 720p instead and save space which is great.
Does the xoom screen have to stay on while outputting hdmi? I'd like to save some battery and also not have it shining away while watching a movie in a dark room etc. What happens if you hit lock while it's outputting?

yes I am hoping for an update or an app in the near future that will allow this. Sometimes I don't want it playing on both (especially if its a movie).
Also another benefit would be great if we could have 2 different screens going on (it is dual core afterall) in games. This would allow us to have controls on the xoom's screen, and have the actual screen play image on the tv. Just a thought....
is root needed to do this, or will it just work on a stock XOOM wifi?
thanks

It works on stock. That's what the hdmi port on the bottom is for.
Has anyone had an issue with the connection at the xoom being loose or do I just have a junk cable? If I move it the wrong way playing a game, I lose the picture. Pretty crummy. :'(

I haven't had that issue. I have the OEM cable from Moto though (bought it when it came out for the Droid X).
I need to get me one of those! That would be awesome to carry around...

I picked up a great cable that's HDMI certified from Amazon for $9 and free shipping. Works great 8)

I have the same issue, I doubt we both have a bad cable. Seems odd to me that it would do this. Will be interesting to see if this is common or if we are just an isolated few.

Same here mine does the same thing. I have both a cheap Ebay cable, and the one that came with my DX. They both do the same thing. IMO all the connections on mine are loose but the only one that will stop working is HDMI. I'm wondering if more people have the issue, or if I should return mine
I would like to have my phone/xoom as a personal internet radio station without using my main connection.
Is this possible? I know you can route your computer audio to your phone but can that be reversed?
Bluetooth audio maybe. That's the only way I could see this working without using the provided connectors. Windows 7 would probably have the feature baked into the OS.

Ah, I dont have a bluetooth dongle
Other than a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cord I don't know if there is any other way.
I personally use a 3.5mm to RCA cord or HDMI plugged into my Home theater receiver for my music, pandora, etc.
The standard dock from Motorola gives you an audio out.
You still need a 3.5mm male to male cable as mentioned by El Daddy.
The only difference with the stand is that the xoom charges while on the stand, and you don't have to use the audio jack on top of the xoom.
Hi,
I have Samsung UA-32C5000 32" TV and I want to connect my Galaxy Mini to it because I want to watch some movies from my SD card, but unfortunately my TV doesn't recognize my phone, I know it is a driver problem. How to fix this? I can't find a solution by myself, maybe some of you can help?
Thanks.

I read a long time back that samsung phones can be connected to tv...and games can be played..with the video o/p being on tv. but have not tried it yet...
i'm not helping in anyway now
AFAIK,

I don't see any HDMI port on Galaxy Mini, so i think it is not possible to view tv or play games or music on your tv. Unless you can connect via USB. But, that doesn't allow playing games. (You might be able to access your sdcard contents though, but not so sure!)
Usually I just plug in my USB flash drive to watch movies, but I don't have it around at the moment, so I was wondering if it's possible to read only from sdcard... (to use it like a USB flash drive)

Don't know about that (I probably don't have a Samsung TV and won't have it atleast for next 5-10 years, if any i would)... But, if there is USB port in your TV, then you might be able to play videos and songs in the flash disk. Why don't you try and see for yourself?
I connected my phone through USB cable but TV doesn't recognize it.
Sorry, works now!

Its awful

Using the USB method of contecting devices does anyone have a USB gamepad working?
Edit: If so which gamepads?
You can simply connect via Bluetooth

He's talking about using the OTH method, rather than the Bluetooth method.
As for any working, I have no idea, since I haven't made an OTG setup for my tablet yet. It's on my to-do list.

Yes I am talking about the OTG method. In my current location I really struggle to get anything so any advice on what I should buy to play games?
After checking all the threads I could find for those using various OTG setups, there do not seem to be any game controllers working that way. BT is going to be your best option here and there are several game pads that will work well with the touchpad.
Sent from my cm_tenderloin using Tapatalk 2
I'm not sure specifically about the TP, but on my Nexus S, as long as you had ICS and a kernel that supported OTG, then there were a number of game pads you could use through OTG such as a wired 360 controller and some Logitech ones.
You can check the link in my sig for more info.
I'll try and test this out on my TP sometime this week when I get a chance.

Anyone using Miracast on the X yet? What adapter are you using? Picture quality good?

Yes and it is amazing. I bought actiontec screen beam from Amazon for $59 and mirror my X and Asus Taichi and it is sweet. Actually works better with phone. Mirrors beautifully at 1080p. Barely any lag. Downloaded an mkv yesterday and couldn't get me taichi to work perfectly with the mirroring so I put the mkv on phone, downloaded archos video player, and the mkv played flawlessly to my TV.

Yes. I bought a Panasonic Bluray player with Miracast shortly after I got my Nexus 4. Was really disappointed with the lag. Moto X didn't work any better. Maybe the Panasonic player sucks? Maybe Miracast just isn't ready for prime time?

How does it behaves with games. Can you try a PSX emulator with a PS3 controller? sounds like a nice portable console

The netgear push 2 tv ptv3000 works great with the appradio 2 and the arliberator, I'm hoping to have a chance to upload a video later so you can see it working.
I just got a Moto X and have an Appradio 2. have you got it working?
Any interference with the picture because it is wireless?
and whats your setup like?
Miracast with 5ghz. Possible no lag?
I tried miracast , and it is really awsome to view movies and to watch netflix on TV. There is a possibility to see the moto x screen on TV, thru wi fi direct.
But to play games the lag is too much, and its impossible to play fast games like need for speed.
Today i'm travelling and can't make this test at my smart tv, but could it be possible and reduce the lag if i use the wifi 5ghz speed?
Can anybody try is it reduce the lag?
