Spare Battery

I ordered a spare battery from Expansys, but when it was delivered it came without the silver 'holding clip' that pins it in place inside the unit. Expansys have since changed the description to warn people that the clip doesn't come with it, but no one (HTC included) can tell me what to do without it. I have rung HTC who have 'escalated' the issue a higher level, but still no response, other than not to take the clip off the original battery (which I can't see how to do without breaking it anyway). Does anyone here have any information?

I also ordered an extra battery. Can't remember where from and not at a place where I can check. My spare battery didn't come with the metal clip either. I've used it in my phone without issues. I guess after reading your post I'll need to contact the vendor and determine my options. It's apparent that the clip holds the battery secure within it's space. There are little holes on the board below the battery which the pin "latches" to.

Paul, As I see it there could be one of two issues here as the clip not only locs the battery in place but is a useful grip to get it out.
The first is that the battery compartment door may be a bit flimsy and pop-open if the battery 'shoogles' about causing loss of connection on the power contacts. On mine the battery compartment fits reasonably well and the battery seems quite tight in place so probably not the problem though a bit of insulating tape could solve that if it was. (though constant changing of batteries would probably gum up the outside with tape residue.)
Second more likely issue I think is that the battery has no physical means of ejection so you might find it difficult to get out without the metal clip.
An old trick I learnt here from a PDA that didn't have an eject mechanism for compact flashes is to take a piece of sticky tape pobably about 3cm long in this case. Fold over the last half centimetre. Stick the tapealong the battery with just the folded (and now non-sticky) bit hanging over the front edge that is exposed when the door is open. Now when you slide the battery in you have a little tab that will allow you to pull the battery back out.
Only downside is if the battery temp warms up enough to loosen the adhesive so use at your own risk!! ;o)

so at the mo there's no way in getting a spare and useful battery?

But only 1700mah (main battery is 2200mah).

Spare battery with clip
In UK I bought a second 2200 battery with clip for £29 from Clove Technology (www.clove.co.uk). Expensive? Not really, it included a VGA desktop cradle which includes all the connectors that you get on the 4 in 1 cable plus a slot for charging a second battery.

Too bad it would cost me 100 bucks for the package. 70 for the extended battery, and another 35 for the case. Not sure I could justify dropping that for my cell phone.

Has anyone tried any of the batteries from Seidio. They are offering an extended battery of 3200 MAH. I don't want to try one of these if there is a chance of frying my 6800.

So, let me see if I understand your question, in a forum post about the extended hard case for the seidio battery, you wonder if anyone has tried any of the batteries?
Why would any of us be discussing the hard case for the SEIDIO extended battery if we didn't already have the battery to get the hard case for????
Do you imagine we're all going to buy the hard case for the extended battery and use it with the stock battery?

I have the Seidio Battery...

Maybe I just thought that because it was apparent that some of the viewers in this thread may have some knowledge about extended batteries and since I have heard about aftermarket batteries/accessories that have caused problems in the past thereby voiding the warranty and the fact that to replace this phone would be pricey it might just be a good idea to ask those with experience in the extended battery arena about the integrity of the product before I purchase.
I don't want a $579.00 (retail replacement) iron on my hands!

Dude, it's a HARDCASE ONLY FOR THE EXTENDED BATTERY. Why would anyone buy the hardcase for the extended battery IF they didn't have the extended battery in the first place?
If you wanted to use the "slim" hardcase then that would make sense, but this is ONLY for users who have the EXTENDED battery to buy this hard case.

Just nearly a week and a half ago I placed my first order to get a slim rubber case and clip..and the day I saw that the extended case was in I ordered the battery and case..got it today and so far nothing but good results. I've had it on for what seems to be like 7 hours and it shows 80% still remaining...BUT during a good 4 or 5 of those hours i had bluetooth on, wifi on and logged onto windows live messanger..it didn't budge. Its not that much bigger with this battery and with somedays not knowing if i'll be working 8 hours or 14 this helps out alot! It does add a bit of weight to it but i'm willing to give that extra weight and thickness for all that my phone is capable of doing.

Well, check it out. I'm the kind of person to take care of my junk. I went to my god fathers heart surgery, and that morning in the parking lot i dropped my phone (1st time) cause you know, it's damn slippery. I was juggling other crap in my hands as well. The phone dropped, back cover popped off no problem.
It wasn't until later i noticed that the left msg record button was jammed, i set that button as 'alt+tab.' crap. I tried fixing it, it proved impossible with my methods.
I used my insurance and got a new phone for $50. That was late 2007. Just this past wednesday, about 4-5 months after with this new phone, i dropped it at work from a very low height. What are the odds that the same freaking button broke? Fook it, right? I can learn to live with it. But i still want the case. Even if you got this phone for $200, a $40 investment to protect it is worth it. I am a power user running 10 emails through flexmail at all times, amongst other things such as my exchange work email. So i will not only get this case but the extra capacity battery.
If you don't think $40 is worth covering $200, then you probably have problems. If this had been available when i bought the phone, i would have gladly paid $40 over $50 and the hassel i went through setting up the new phone.

So after having this setup for nearly a week I am quite pleased. From having last plugged it in on Friday for about a 45 minutes it lasted till sunday afternoon at about 4:30 where it showed 30%. Given i was barely talking on the phone and sent only a dozen or two texts...the standby time still amazed me. I google mapped a few things as well..I definately reccomend this.

3200MAH SUPER EXTENDED BATTERY FOR PPC 6800 ($64.95 USD)
RUBBERIZED CASE/HOLSTER COMBO FOR EXTENDED XV 6800 / PPC 6800 ($49.95 USD)
It came out to a total of $127.15 (USD)
The battery comes with a cover as shown in the picture, but unlike the picture it says seidio on the back of it, very cool!
The 'rubberized case' with holder is pretty cool. It's not as 'grippy' as i thought it would be, but definitly an improvement over the original finish. I am more confident with it in my hand.
I've begun charging the battery that supposedly has 60% charge according to WM.
I also use my phone quite a bit so i'll be reporting in on whether this battery was worth it or not.
Worth noting is that unlike many others, i had no problems at all installing the battery case cover, nor the rubber covers. Just be patient and look at what you're doing and you should be ok.
So far 100% satisfied, will update in a few weeks.

not wanting the extreme bulk of the 3200 battery, i went ahead and got a 1650 battery instead...BIG MISTAKE, don't get it, I don't notice any battery level change, I went about with my usual business hopefully ending the day with at least 30-40% (I generally start using the phone at 9-10 till maybe 8-9) at night but instead, as usual it dropped to 0 and dies on me. With a case and the battery i forked up 108 bucks- so pay the extra 20 bucks and get the 3200 instead, i regret not doing so!

I use the Mugen 3600mAh battery and Seido hard case; in three months of use, no one has ever commented on the thickness of my phone. It fits (fills) the hand better for a more secure grip. But yes, the Seido "rubberized" case isn't all that grippy, so I recommend plastering it with e-grips appliques.

Seidio extended battery case hardware hack for macro lens and sunshield.
The pictures will show what a sweet hack this is. I'd wanted both a sun shield and a macro lens, and when I got this new battery and the case that came with it I saw the possibilities right away.
First I eyeballed the length and width of the slider that I would need (about 9/16" by 7/16" )
Then I carved a channel the thickness of my slider in the large lower lip.
The opposing channel was constructed from three layers of the same black plastic sheet I used for the slider.
Cleaned out any excess glue from the track, checking it with the slider by hand.
Then I temporarily spot glued the three layer channel to the case with the slider in place to see if I needed to make any adjustments to the width of the slider.
After making adjustments I glued the three layer channel to the case with the slider in place.
Now I was ready to make the hole for my macro lens (You want to make it centered with respect to the camera) I just eyeballed it. Made a small hole with a drill, then with a round needle file made it as concentric with the hole in the case for the camera as I could by hand.
Having stripped numerous machines and devices over the years I had a little selection of small lenses.
I chose a small magnifier of a size a little bit larger than the hole I'd filed in the slider and glued it in place.
When that dried I put the case back on the phone and I moved the slider to the macro position and made sure it was centered correctly. Then a sliver of the same black plastic sheet was carefully glued in the channel as a block to stop the slider at that position.
That was pretty much it. I used 5 minute clear epoxy which allowed me to clean out glue that was in bad places while it was still tacky.

Litium polymer battery 3200 mah

Hey guys, just saw this battery in bestbuy's website. It says 3200 mah and from the looks of it, its not gigantic that you would need to get rid of your back cover. It uses lithium ion polymer instead of the regular lithium ion. Here's the link.

I just ran out and bought this. Just like the extended life battery from the same company for my epic, the battery door doesn't completely snap shut securely. I found the hard clear gel argyle case that sprint sells that I had laying around. I did some rough estimates on where to cut the case for the extended portion of the battery. This was my first case for it but I replaced it with the black gel that sprint sells. The clear case was difficult to get over the corners under normal circumstances. The gel doesn't give much when stretching it over the phone. I thought it might help the extended case keep closed and less likely for the cover to pop off inadvertently. The volume up down and power buttons don't align with the molded areas on the case so I cut those out the right size and place where the buttons are. I cut the big square out on the gel where the battery door hump is.
It doesn't look factory done but it doesn't look like complete **** either. The cut up gel is serving its purposes. It's protecting the corners and edges of the phone and it's keeping the battery door firmly in place. I will have to give it a full overnight charge when I get home. If the performance is anything like the battery for the epic, it should be like 1.5x more life. The ratings aren't accurate. I will be very surprised if it doubles my runtime. Btw, I use the internet heavily during my day. I will report back when I see how it performs in a few days.

Does this battery actually do what it promises? I've heard some bad experiences with third battery suppliers.

Can I change the battery myself

So my Nexus' battery has gotten deteriorated after so much usage. I used Accubattery to find out the rating and it showed 2500 mAh after a full charge, which I think is pretty bad. The problem is that there are is no Nexus market where I live. Even the local phone shops say they cant change it. So I was thinking about ordering the battery online and doing it myself. But sadly, the battery is internal and I have no experience whatsoever with electronics. Has anyone changed the battery themselves? What do you think I should do.

I guess eBay or Amazon, try to find a original one. May someone's here who already replaced one. I replaced it on my older phones, my nexus 6 battery is still good

I replaced mine a month ago. Not to difficult. The back cover is held on with double sided tape. Then 23 crazy small screws to remove. Thankfully they are all the same size. The 2 connectors to unclip from the main board and the mid frame hinges off from the top. The battery is glued onto the mid frame and the Qi charging coil is stuck on the battery. Carefully peel it off and put it on the new battery. Pay close attention to where you put it back as the connector end of the charging coil has to align with pads on the board. The replacement was bendable, and needed some tweaking to fit properly.
It took me about 45 minutes to complete.

Where did you purchase it from? I'm looking to replace mine too, but from the reviews I found many of them fail after a short period of time. Others lack reviews altogether. None of the Amazon listings look good to me and I don't know how legit the eBay ones are because it doesn't have reviews for specific products derived from specific sellers. The top two that seem the most legit to me are this eBay listing and Repairs Universe, from which I can't tell how legit it is.
Here's how mine held up today. I unplugged it at six this morning before I left for school and got home roughly an hour ago, so this is very close to not cutting it for me, especially on days where I'd have work in addition to school.

Got it on Amazon it was described as an OEM. Picked it out, screenshot to the GF, and it ended up under the Christmas tree.?

I nearly stripped several screws using the larger Torx T4 driver recommended in this video instead of the T3 that fits these screws perfectly. I bought the replacement battery & T3 driver from eBay.

Is it possible to use a hair dryer to separate the screen from the body?

Hi, my Nokia 8 battery is coming this week and I don't have a heat gun.. can I use a hair dryer to remove the screen from the body? I might be crazy but I think it will work because the adhesive is not too strong.. please correct me if I am wrong.. Thank you.

Yea is possible. Few months back I removed the screen using hairdryer, plastic guitar pick, and a suction cup. The adhesive is not really strong on the long side of the screen so you may start from there.
But regretted that... bought 2 new replacement battery but all of them are having fake capacity (1500MaH). Seems like there's no original battery available outside.

Yes i bought few fake batteries with another connector little long than original Max capacity 1500mah. I want test wonkegonke soon. This have great ratings.
