Google search bar links, not opening - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

When I click on a story, event, or link off the Google search bar that it won't open. It tries to but then it just takes me to my browser and doesn't open what I'm trying to look at it. Once I reboot it works. Anyone else experience this??

Search system lag

When using the Google search widget, the system crawls. If I type fast, I have to wait a few seconds for the keyboard to catch up.
Am I alone on this?
Also, when I type something and want to search using the browser, how can I make it NOT use the mobile Google results?
I have the same issue when using the google search widget. I assume everyone has this issue

Status bar force crash

Under cm7 I'll frequently have my status bar and on screen buttons crash. Sometimes it restarts on it's own, others it doesn't and I have to reboot to get it back. Is there anything I can do to restart the bar manually without having to reboot?

Did you even bother to search? this is a common thing.
If it doesn't come back, there are market apps to restart Android, or as you know, reboot the device.
Yeah I searched but must not have specified anything useful. I have a hard time restricting the xda app searches to one group and not the whole site.
Thanks, I'll look around for an app
Advanced Search does that.. Or go to the main B&N Nook Color link at the top of the page that lists all sub-forums.
Leads to this.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?f=860
There are several such apps, look for "hot reboot". That one might be a buck or something, but there are free ones out there.
Thanks. I have one app I just grabbed that does seem to work at the moment
Actually I think my problems with the search are that I'm doing it from the xda app on the nook and I don't see an option for advanced search on there. Guess I'll have to use the web site for that

Problems with google search

When I try a search querie in the Google Search app for Android (I am on the lastest nighlty of Cyanogenmod 9). Google Search has the tendency to kick me out after just typing one letter, but when I just open the Google Search app and leave it, it remains at the screen. Also it does give suggestion after just searching with only one letter, like for example 'w' gives whatsapp etc. So is anyone else having this problem, and how did you solve it?
(It does work somethimes, but that has a smaller chance than it kicking me out. There also isn't any mentioning that the app has crashed. It just brings me back to the android home screen...)

Nova launcher on Huawei

Hi,
I just got the Nova Launcher set up on my P10. I tried duplicating the Google Pixel 2 layout, but one thing is annoying me. When pressing the Google search bar that comes with Nova it opens the Google app. I want it to open Chrome instead. When disabling the Google app to try forcing Nova to use Chrome, nothing happens when i press the Google bar. I then contacted Nova support, but they told me "Nova is coded to use whatever your device has set as default. That's not something you can change within Nova itself."
But how can i sett Chrome to default? I just dont get how this works. Does anyone have a solution for this?
I think that is normal. When u use google search bar, the search result will appear in google app. But when u select the search result, it'll open in chrome.

Yes, thats exactly what happens. But i dont want the Google app at i all. Just wish there was some way to connect the search bar to Chrome instead.

I have also tried this but no luck. After some thoughts on the matter I actually don't see the difference in touching the search bar and typing something or touching the Chrome icon and typing something... So I stopped using the search bar at all...

I know what you mean its not something i really miss, but i think it looks more nice with the search bar.
Anyways, it would be much smoother if it didnt actually open the Google app at all, but instead you could type directly into the search bar.

Browser freezing up after Pie update

Since updating to Pie, I'm having issues with searches on the browser. It only happens the very first time when I open the browser. I type something into the search bar and hit search. It just freezes up. The only fix is to close that tab and open a new tab and retype what I wanted to search. It happens every single time I open the browser to search something. Doesn't happen when using bookmarks or going to websites, only when trying to search. Anyone else?
