My email is connected to corporate exchange but for some reason the email notification content is hidden. It is NOT on lock screen but when the phone is unlocked. I checked all the notifications settings and email settings but there is no such option. The only option to hide the content is on lock screen.
By the way, when I have 2 mails or more I can only see the number of emails I have without the option to expand it.
Does anyone know how to fix it?
Edge lighting hides the notifications. If you have it on, try turning it off and see if that helps.

Tried to disable it but it didn't solve the problem. I do see the notification for new email but I see it only as "2 new emails" and can't expand it
Just to update that it was solved.
The problem was that I had SD card from my previous phone and it was not encrypted. I formatted and encrypted the card and it is good now

I am wondering if anyone knows how to stop the email notifications. I get emails all the time, and I use phonealarm on my today screen to monitor them. It is very annoying to constantly have the left soft button come up with a notification .
I have gone into setting>sounds & notifications and turned everything off.. but I still have the soft button notification. I would think there is some registry setting to do this but I have not found one.
Notification Softkey Help
Bumping this thread.
I too have all notifications for email turned off, but still get that left softkey changing to "notification" every 10 minutes to let me know I have unread email. I know I have unread email and already have the # of messages listed on the Today screen. I am tired of having to dismiss this.
Please, somebody tell us how to shut this off.
settings/sounds & notifications/notifications tab/event drop down box/messaging:new email messages.
in there will give you the options for all types of messing to turn on/off

Thanks, but that's the point. All those options are checked off. We still get the soft key notification.

And there was me thinking I could just use the key listed and change the duration to 1, like I did with SMS notifications. Alas it has no effect so disabling it entirely seems like the only option.
Thank you. This is a big help. Should be added as a "tweak" if somebody can.
Hi,
Hopefully a very answer to what should be a simple setting.
I've migrated to the HTC Incredible S from HTC Magic. The trouble is when I receive a text message the icon is shown but the message itself is also shown on screen. I can't find an option to get rid of that.
All I need is the icon showing me I have a message.
Thanks
Go to Mail -> Settings (by pushing the button with the 3 strips) -> More -> Settings -> Notification settings -> Activate Email notifications.

Hi,
Thanks for replying. However, it's not the mail notification I concerned about but text/SMS notification. I just want to disable the message showing on my screen when a new message is received.
I can't seem to find an option to remove this.
I think your barking up the wrong tree there jkolner, sounds like he is taking about the preview of a text message on the lockscreen....
I have looked for a way to remove this myself, and as far as I can tell the only way to stop it is to use a replacement lockscreen like widget locker. seems a bit of a security oversight in my eyes, should be a setting.
Arh... i use GoSMS so i don't have that problem.
The only thing i can find is Message -> Settings (by pushing the button with the 3 strips) -> Settings -> Notifications.
But that don't solve the problem :-(

You don't have Handcent SMS installed by any chance, do you? That will show any new SMS as a pop-up on your screen by default, but you can switch it off in the settings.

If you use the default lockscreen and the default messaging app, when you get a new text it displays the content on the lockscreen. I think this is the problem he is talking about.

Ah, fair enough. I usually customise the hell out of any phone I get as soon as I switch it on for the first time (and I cannot stand the default Messaging app), so I am oblivious to this particular issue.
I have ChompSMS installed. Again this does not provide a setting to disable this kind of notification. I'll have to look into installing a different lock screen.
I'm just surprised that this is not a setting that can be switched off.
I have just installed a stock RUU of 5.0 on my One, it's great bar one thing, in my settings I can't seem to set the lock screen notifications to show but hide the content of the notification (ie: don't show what is in my text messages).
Only options I get are: (In Sounds & notifications) "When Device is Locked" - "Show all notification" OR "Don't show notifications at all". There is meant to be a "Don't show private information" option.
Is there a different way to do this or am I missing something?
Cheers
So no-one else has this issue or does no-one mind having the notifications appear on the lock screen and be readable?
Can someone confirm that this is how it is meant to be?
I ended up figuring this out, I don't use pass codes are any of that as I don't really care who gets into my phone, this is why I wasn't getting the option to hide the content of notifications.
This does make sense I guess, I hate having to enter a passcode but I would still like to be able to hide the content of notifications, it used to just put an icon at the top which was great, hopefully they bring that back.
Anyway, all is good and problem solved.
Edit: think I discovered this is not just a note 8 issue, how do I delete this thread?
I'm not getting most heads up notifications on my T-Mobile Note 8. Notifications just appear in the notification drawer. I do get the sound/vibration though
Some apps are working reliably (hangouts, ring), others are not (outlook, inbox). Those are the easiest for me to test, so I haven't looked much into others.
I uninstalled pebble and android wear just in case those were interfering. I've rebooted a million times. Turned off everything with notification access just in case.
I turned off the edge light feature, just in case. No change. Also turned it on for everything, the screen doesn't edge light for outlook or inbox.
Any settings that might have been enabled/disabled accidentally?
also, tried resetting app preferences from advanced notification settings, no luck
Any thoughts?
edit: i'm seeing this in my logs but not entirely sure it's related
"09-28 13:57:55.567 1188-1188/? E/NotificationService: Suppressing notification from package by user request."
Also, tried disabling, then enabling those apps notifications
Wiped my phone and installed inbox and outlook, they still don't show notifications in a popup. they make their sound/vibe and appear in the drawer, but still dont show up as a headsup notification so I get no altert if If i have my phone on silent.
So far my only pain point with this phone is that specific notifications don't show on the lock screen.
So far I can say Spotify and slack for sure
Is there a setting for this somewhere that I'm missing?
Running the ww rom on tencent phone
Edit: I figured out how to manually enable the lock screen notifications
Does it allow u to see what the notifications is? Are just the icon of it?
Do you see all the notifications on the lock screen?. Because i can only see the notifications of social apps(wechat,whatsapp,facebook..). other apps notifications i can only see them from the notification shade and not the lock screen( I mean no notification message or icon shown on the lock screen).

You have to enable it on a per-app basis by going to the notification settings for each app you want.
Not uncommon for Chinese phones

Yeah I have done that, actually you have to do it on the notification settings in the settings page, at the same time inside each app notification settings section.
