That's normal...
Data will only stay active when you call on "Voice over LTE" (VoLTE), but this must be supported by your operator and activated for your subscription and/or phone.
Got it
Thank you so much, kinda crazy tho TBH but its good to know that its a normal thing.
Any workaround for the VOLTE thing? specially if its not supported by the network?
Thanks again appreciate it

Hi all, well my One arrived from the UK today.. As I feared it does not have the ATT LTE bands that PDAbd.net suggested it had, bummer, but I can live with HSDPA... Set up the phone, it asks me to select the operator I am unsing, with ATT as the first choice... all goes well.. I load it up and initial impressions... WOW.. what a great phone.
BUT and and very BIG BUT.... the signal is terrible... bouncing from no signal to 2 bars and displaying H one minute, 3G the next and then E...
Driving down a notorious road it drops the call at least half a mile before typical and doesn't pick it up again until even later..
Does anyone know if there are any setting I can adjust to optimize to ATT?
I really do not want to put it is back in the box, but unless someone has a suggestion for me, I have no choice...
Help!!
Many thanks,
Nick
A quick question. Where did you get your HTC One? And have you used any other HTC Phones before and got good signal with it?

Hi There,
I bought it in the UK. It was a legitimate HTC supplier and an unlocked model 801n.
I have used a couple HTC phones in the past:
ATT 8X - worked well (at least as far as signal was concerned, but that was the ATT model)
I also had a Verizon Incredible, but since that is a different provider, I am ignoring it.
Other phones I have right now adn tested in the same location with the same SIM:
1. ATT - Galaxy note 2 - good signal no issues
2. ATT LG Optimus G - Good signal no issues
3. ATT Iphone 5 Good signal no issues
4. ATT Nokia 920 - good signal no issues
5. Blackberry Z10 - unbelievably good signal - no issues - Unlocked ATT bands, not ATT branded (Purchased from Expansys USA)
This is why I am wondering whether it is some kind of optimization issue. I cannot believe HTC could have made such a mistake in design. Also, if I switch to GSM only, I have full bars.... It is only on 3G and HSDPA that the signal is poor and the display oscillates between 3G and H
Any advice?
Many thanks,
Nick
Are you rooted? The solution is disabling fast dormancy on HTC One. New HTC devices enables fast dormancy by default which affects & weakens signal strength on networks that doesn't support it yet. If not I am not aware of any ways to disable it without root yet. I'll update you if I find one.
On UK almost all networks do support fast dormancy already except for Three UK so that maybe the reason why it's enabled by default in the US however I am not aware of the implementation of network carriers there sorry.

No I am not rooted - what will I lose if I root it? Do you know of a link to a simple thread with rooting instructions and how to disable the fast dormancy? I am not super experienced with Android yet
Does anyone know whether ATT supports fast dormancy of not?
Also, I have been led to believe that the One supports a number of carrier frequencies, but they only enable those for the specific region it is sold in. Do you know if there is a way to enable the other frequencies? Or is this just an unfounded rumor? Also, do you know if there is a way to check which LTE band the phone I have is equipped with - Not an on-line reference, but a way to find it on the phone?
Many thanks!!
Your warranty if you mess something in the software's side like bricking your phone & OTA updates. But you'll be able to update anyways just by directly flashing on the phone.
Anyways here's a noob proof app to rooting. Please do some research first before going so you'll not mess this up.

And... No. AT&T doesn't support fast dormancy.

Check this regarding what is Fast Dormancy and tell us if it works(probably NOT (it works only to samsung phones) but it is easy to try) http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s2-international/674208-fast-dormancy-in-nutshell.html
"To turn FD on/off enter *#9900# in the dialler to get into the SysDump screen then select the Fast Dormancy option"
You mind sharing the link if they have stock? Good luck with the signal issue.

I had a friend with an international GS2 with the same problem. Constantly bounced from HSPA+ to 3G to EDGE to no signal. I'm 99% sure that the issue is network settings, you likely need to check SIM card, data plan provisioning, APNs, etc.

Hey, thanks - Do you know what settings I should use? I have an LTE provisioned SIM card...I assume that should be ok, since the phone is LTE enabled, just wrong bands? I have tried with Auto LTE on and of - I currently have it on GSM/WCDMA - it has been working better the past day, but it is still not right..
The SIM works perfectly in the Note 2, Optimus G etc. So I am wondering whether I need to look at the APN or something like that, but I do not know what the best settings should be. Anyone have this info?
Many thanks,
Nick

APN shouldn't affect your mobile signal reception. It's just made for cellular data profiling. So you are able to connect to the internet.
How about try setting your network selection mode to manual and just select the top most usable network there?
Interesting... I am in Korea right now and have great signal... no issues at all. However, my data indicator is still bouncing between H and 3G, so that is very strange...
Despite the indicated low signal and bouncing data connection type indicator, the phone is working well, have not dropped a call recently and excellent phone call quality...
NO LTE connection in Korea though.. I assume that is probably due to ATT not having a LTE roaming data service agreement here? I believe my phone has at least one LTE band that it supported here.
Have fun..
Nick
I think u should talk to att people may be they can help? With the signal issue or the data connection issues!

Hey everyone I just bought an unlocked HTC One and switched the SIM card from my iPhone 5 into the new phone. I unlocked the bootloader, rooted it, and installed ARHD Sense version and I am having problems with the phone getting LTE. No matter where I am, I am unable to acquire LTE on the phone. Even in places where I know for sure that it has LTE (due to getting it previously on my iPhone) I'm stuck on HSPA+. Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? Faulty device maybe? Would rather not have to send the phone back. I have tried also changing the APN, which changed nothing.

Do you have LTE turned on? You should be on LTE/GSM/WDCMA under Network Mode in settings. Wording may very depending on your ROM.
Yeah I have Lte enabled, which is why I'm confused as to why lte is not working.

My best guess... Consider calling AT&T and switching off the iPhone data plan to a "smartphone" data plan. I don't know the differences between the 2 but it could be effecting your ability to connect to lte from the one.

Hmm I've been considering it just I have seen other people just pop their iPhone 5 SIM into an unlocked/developer edition HTC One and have full LTE connectivity, and not to mention the fact that dealing with AT&T is a pain.

I know what ya mean... You could also try flashing at&ts latest radio... It probably only really effects AT&T based roms but it's supposed to open up some new lte bands. I used the link from post 95. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2325564&page=10 just make sure you grab the right one installing the one for cm 10 on a sense Rom will mess up your signal strength because it replaces some ril files while flashing the radio. It's a shot in the dark but wont hurt to try.

That actually used to be a really common problem, but they seem to use the same data plans for all smartphones now. Still, might be worth a try.

Thanks will try that out soon. Also, to the person above, tried flashing an AT&T radio, which didn't help anything, but was worth the shot. Thanks for the help guys.
EDIT: So tried out switching it to LTE Only and it wouldn't let the setting stick. It would automatically change the preferred network type back to what it was whenever selecting LTE Only. Also, the LTE, CDMA option did not change anything. Again thanks for the help, I'm just going to send it back and hope for the best with a new device.
For the last weeks.. I have been trying to get this phone working with T-Mobile..I had unlock the sim card and now running badboyz 4.3 rom. 1.3
After unlocking the sim card and setting up the apn, selected T-Mobile from the available networks and it will connect. But when I go to work, I will lose signal every few block, and need to search for available network again and wait to select t mobile again.
I had try to use the t mobile sim card on my old phone and everything will works fine with no signal lost.
Can anyone please HELP!... I been searching and looking for an answer for more than 2 weeks..but no resolve.....

This is probably because T-mob covers only particular places the frequencies this phone uses http://theunlockr.com/2013/07/05/htc-one-sprint-specs/ vs t-mob https://t-mobile.jive-mobile.com/#jive-document?content=/api/core/v2/documents/4988

Is there any solution for this problem ?
Is there anything I can do to fix this problem ? (different rom or radio...etc..) Or I have to give up the phone... Cause it is too much headache to "searching for network" all the time and miss all the call with no service on the phone without knowing..
Thanks

well, I am not an expert on the tmobiles network, but going by what lazybozz, said, I seem to remember tmobile using different bands than the other carriers, so what you may be experiencing, is the phone being in the vicinity of multiple towers, but not all of them are within the band that the phone supports. So its like the phone doesnt even see those towers. On a side note, this issue caused alot of chaos for those who unlocked iphones about 3 years ago, they could use EDGE on tmobiles network but not 3G, so i assume this is a similar situation. So long story short, yeah you probably cant fix the problem, unless you get a quad band phone. I could be wrong, but it does sound like a logical reason for the issue you are having.
as elvisypi said above, Its the freq that T-mobile operates on in that area. If your getting T-mobile at all in the states then you have already flashed a radio. However flashing any other radio is not going to give you the freq that tmobile uses, Its not a software limitation its a physical hardware limitation.
Thanks for your reply, do you know any app out there that monitor and alarm you when the network or signal is lost ? That works with 4.3 ?That way at least you know the phone is offline ... some of the apps I tried is anything at all ...
Thanks
Have you tried an app like tasker? Its essentially an automation app. It isnt jist for your use. Its for many different functions. Jist look on the app store for tasker. That might help

When my phone roams, it basically locks my data up and I can't really use my phone until I reboot it. It's getting really annoying. I did a quick search and found one other person on the official sprint forum with the problem:

Does anyone else have this problem?

Yup, issues with this and towers that are not network vision complete but broadcasting LTE doing the same thing. A "fix" if you can call it that for losing data after roaming is to disable roaming, other than that I don't know what to tell you.
Hello everyone,
I have a T-mobile Z3 that is currently unlocked to work for my AT&T provider. I am able to make calls and send regular text messages with no problems. My problem is that I am only able to access the Internet via WiFi only and not 4G or even 3G. I am usually always around WiFi but for times when I am in need to use the mobile web, I am unable to. What are the proper settings for this? I understand that the T-mobile version does not share the same LTE band as AT&T so that's ok with me but 4G or 3G is ok with me. I have tried to APN settings provided by AT&T but it does not work. I am leaving on a trip in a few days and would like to have this working before I leave. I am sure someone out there has the answers I seek. I hope that I have posted this in the correct forum. If not, please feel free to move it as it might help me to get my question answered. Thanks again for your help everyone!
After doing more further research, I found the settings that work for my phone. I was just about to sell this phone and get a Note 4. Not anymore now that I got this to work. Thanks again everyone!

The phone was only on a temporary unlock and I am unable to use it for cellular service anymore but I went to this website to get all the settings to make it work for AT&T.
