I did read somewhere yesterday about a device that lost this after an ota...not a vivid. Until its figured out the sideload wonder machine should work
If att took it out of their ota..running the ruu might give it back..maybe?
If its amazon apps..search google for where amazon stores apps temporarily for install, grab the apk, and sideload
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
Yeah, sideloading works but this is not an deal way to install third party apps for me. Anyway, I used the RUU to reinstall the rom. Now, the option appears under security.

I am not having this problem. It is on mine which was done ota and I am not rooted, etc. Maybe something happened during the flash.
when upgrading occasionally the market will break. try reinstalling it after wiping your phone completely. then restore your apps via titanium backup. it worked for me when i had the problem of going across different roms.
yeah I've installed several Amazon apps, no issues.
Thank goodness I'm still on the leak, the OTA while awesome still has some kinks to work out.
I did the ATT update and the option is there. See screen shot attached.

Uninstall updates shouldn't cause you to lose any games. It will just revert the application back to it's original published version.
I thought i blocked it when I used the tool to unlock the google playstore and everything, obviously i was wrong.
Is there anyway to set it back to 5.0.1 or even 5.0.0, also is there any way to do that without losing all of my apps/information.
Or can i simple run that google playstore tool again. Thats all i really want on my tablet right now, dont reallly want to root kit it at the moment, and i dont wanna brick it, messing around myself. So if there is anyway to get the play store working on 5.1.2 again or resetting it to 5.0.1 or 5.0.0 with or without losing my data can anyone please let me know and help me out if possible. Thanks guys
Edit: Ok the original install google play tool still works with 5.1.2 without any problems and it still lets you reblock updates (as far as i know, it said it worked) and now my playstore works again.
What exactly did you do? Uninstall all the google framework etc? Just reflash the bat script?

Yeah i uninstalled all the google framework, the playstore any google related stuff. Re ran the the update blocking and re-ran the playstore install from the batch file
pic added
I have 2 tablets, and both were patched with Glytchy's script. One of the tablet never updated to 5.1.2 from 5.1.1, but the other tablet did, and it removed root.
I try running the script again on the 5.1.2 tablet, but it doesn't work (see picture).
How did you get it to work? Maybe your never really installed 5.1.2, and only downloaded it?
This doesn't work for me anymore. My fire updated and wouldn't sign in after that. I uninstalled all the google stuff. Reflashed the bat file posted by shadow. Now when I try to add my google account it says can't establish connection with the server.

I'm using this method. It didn't block updates or remove ads. It had worked just fine on the last 2 previous system os updates. http://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/general/installing-google-framework-playstore-t3216122

Not sure which method you used as the linked post contains references to many other articles. If you used 'adb shell pm hide' then I'm not surprised it didn't work. Preferred method is to rename components responsible for providing OTA functionality.

Right - guessing it didn't work. Hidden components are easily exposed.

Damn I've restored it too, still no dice. My other 2 kindle fires are ok so far on 5.1.2
I bought them all at the same time.
I messed up and had my kindle automatically updated to 5.1.2
Same here, update to 5.1.2 and now rooting not possible. Therefore no FlashFire, therefore no custom rom, therefore lots of time wasted...
It is new guys, give it some time... I am sure people are working on it... Just keep an eye for it...

Google play installed successfully. Root failed because 5.1.2 was yet another d*ck move by Amazon to patch root.

Supertool was updated, 5.1.2 should be working now... http://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/development/amazon-fire-5th-gen-supertool-root-t3272695
Hi all, has there been a recent OTA update?
My Rooted F7 froze while charging and needed a soft reset. Root permissions were Ok I've logged back into Google Play, however, it now won't register with Amazon. I just get a blank screen when I try. Similarly with the update settings - blanks screen.
I'd like to use the Amazon app store as much as I can because I feel the apps are better optimised for the hardware. I also use Alexa a fair bit.
I have a system + apps + data Ti Backup from before the reboot but have only successfully restored ok individual apps.
I have 2 questions:
(1) if there was an OTA update, what do I need to disable to stop it happening again (searching OTA in apps2sd comes up blank); and
(2) is there a part of my Ti Backup I can use to re-register with Amazon? "Accounts" does not seem to be that thing

Rename DeviceSoftwareOTA.apk. Tried and true method that has worked on every FireOS version/build dating back to 2012 (FireOS v3).

Thanks, but there is no such APK on my device - as I have said above I have also searched for services / apps with OTA in the name to no avail.
Could it be that it has been renamed recently?

Possibly, or more likely erased. If accurate no worries about OTA updates. Sure you are looking in the right location (and have permission to do so)?
/system/priv-app/DeviceSoftwareOTA/
I cannot get updates to system applications such as the app drawer. prior to a hard reset if I received them, not now.
Have you uninstalled getapps?
