I got my new Note 5 a week ago, and so far so good.
Yesterday I noticed that Facebook's app navigation bar stripe is quite visibly burned into the screen!
I there any way I could fix this ? I found the so called "Screen Burn In fix" apps, but they look sketchy (has anyone tried them?)
the burned in stripe is like 1.5cm away from the top of the screen.
Any ideas ?
Thanks.

ok so I've tried out practically every new 2.3.3 ROM for the captivate and something that I've noticed is when i pull the notification bar down you can kind of see what you were doing like it was burned in(like when im texting you can still sort of see the keyboard) but after a few seconds it starts to fade away, is anyone else noticing this or am i just crazy?
crap just noticed i posted in general -.-
nope, you're crazy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IikM0jLbMUQ
you are not a crazy, mine too burns out. but seems we have just a very small ill with screens. after some time it will decay faster...

glowing

androidforums.com/samsung-captivate/276341-captivate-screen-burned-image.html
my post/answer is the very last post.
for tl;dr ppl:
It's not a burn-in, it's simply the OLEDs being too energized, so they glow a lil even if they are supposed to be showing "black".
in launcherpro options i set the home button to hide notifacation bar after taking back to homescreen. minimizes wear and tear up there...

I do the same.
I thought I had notification burn in too, especially when the xda app loads.
Its not actual burn in. Like someone else said, its residual energy. If I change my notification settings to hide the clock, and reboot, the "burn" changes too.

Today I used my phone on landscape mode. I noticed that there is bluish bright color where status bar usually is.
It is visible at white, grey, and blue backgrounds. I start using custom launcher now to hide status bar.
Do you know how can I fix like stuck pixel solving applications?
Thanks

Just by hiding the status bar and switching between 12/24 hour clocks will help. Also use landscape mode more often. It should clear up. Try to use dark colored backgrounds/themes too. Blue is the first color to cause problems with amoled.
Also lower your screen timeout time to 15 or 30 seconds to reduce wasted screen time while also saving some battery. But hiding your dock amd status bar with your launcher will help go a long way too. I use Nova and set them both to hide with finger gestures making it easy
This will only prevent further damage though. Anything to fix current damage?
Also I tried nova to hide, but bar comes back every time I use an application. So it hides only on desktop. How to hide always? I want to be on full screen always.

All this accomplishes is to even the burn out - similar to grinding a screen with sand paper/grit to "buff out a scratch."
Can't fix burn out.

Actually you may be right. I am not sure but it might me more visible now. It did not fix at all.
Any suggestion to hide status bar always? Also is there any fix?
I don't want to return back the phone because:
1. I have to unroot and change CF-Root kernel.
2. I have to go back to GB.
Then, I can go to where I bought this. And I will need to wait maybe 1 month to get replacement or fix.
If I cannot fix this by myself, I will go to shop just before warranty ends which means 1.5 years later. It is not visible on photo/games/other colored backgrounds.
If no fix, I just want to hide status bar even if any application is open.
No you can't fix the damage that has already been done.
From another thread were I posted....
Use launchers that hide the notification bar on home screens.
Don't use apps that don't have the option to hide the notification bar.
Use full screen browsing with browsers such as Opera Mobile
And don't leave static images on the phone for extended periods of time.
And for the love of god don't use a cradle or docking station because that will destroy your screen! Think about it? Leaving your phone on all day at work in its docking station showing the time and weather. What do you think is going to happen to that screen?
I cannot believe you just made me notice this! Damn that's annoying me now! Blueish tint.
Edit... does having a black status bar still cause this?

I always had black status bar. I don't know how it happened. Now, I start using StatusBar+ . I will cycle through Red Green Blue(maybe no blue for a while) for color of status bar. Also icon colors will be cycled as well.
Sorry I made notice you the defect. I won't buy Samsung phone anymore. HTC Desire was better First slight horizontal lines/tint and now this burn in. I say it is low quality.

Only way is to get screen replaced. I heard other user state Samsung will do this service for you as long as your phone is under warranty but you must send it in to them.
Or pay for shop to replace screen for you.

Since I know there is defect, my eyes is always there even while watching movie. Every white/grey/blue background I notice it.
Hi there.
I recentlt bought a Galaxy noite, and successfully rooted it and installed RocketRom 7.
All good. Very fast and enjoyable experience of use.
Unfortunately I am being plagued with regular 'freezes' of the screen (where no input is accepted for a short while ~15 secs) and black screens (where the notification bar is visible but nothing else). It appears to be on switching from one app to another. The only app that I've noticed regularly triggering a problem is SimiClock widget now I've set it to take me to the stock Clock app on tapping. Other than that it seems to be pretty random and widespread.
I have Apex Launcher installed- is that known to cause this problem?
Is there a way to identify what is causing this and eliminate it?
Cheers for any responses

Received my S21U yesterday and noticed a weird thing happens when vivid mode is on.
Basically, the colours change when apps take up the whole screen. It's mostly a slight change but it's really visible on skin tones. On my device when things are full screen, people's faces look pale, yellow and washed out. This disappears immediately if I put the app into pop-up view, splitscreen, or if I open another pop up app over the top. It also disappears if I swipe up to go to recent apps and the current app minimizes. It's annoying because the skin tones look normal and healthy when not full screen. Then as soon I full screen whatever I'm looking at the colours change straight away before my eyes and I see the washed out yellow skin tones appear. This doesn't happen on natural mode or when eye comfort is on, it only happens with vivid.
The same issue happened on my Note 20 Ultra, but the yellowed/washed out colours were SO much worse that I ended up returning it. Oddly enough it doesn't happen on my Tab S7+.
If you have a spare minute and you'd like to see if this happens on your device, open this random image of the legend William Hung full screen with vivid mode on. Then try swiping up to see recent apps and then tapping the app to full screen the image again. If the same thing happens on your device you should notice the skin tones change. He should look normal when the window isn't full but on full screen he looks really yellow and ill. The same should happen if you open it in split screen or popup view or open another app in pop up view over the top.
Anyone else noticed this or know why it happens? It actually kind of annoys me as the skin tones look ugly and at this price point I expect everything to be perfect.
Cheers!
Cheers!
Just checked, and I'm unable to duplicate that problem with the picture you shared. No change it skin tone at all.
NVM, I see what you mean. I see a darker shade in the recent apps menu when I swipe up, and then when I go back to the original image, it gets lighter. NOt a big deal to me. Why does it bother you?
Hello, I upgraded to the pixel 7 from the 6 a week ago, and the first thing I noticed was how inconsistent swipe scrolling, or the "fling" animation was.
On any other android phone, including every Pixel predecessor, dragging your finger across the screen and releasing it would scroll through the page with ease, but with the pixel 7 it seems like your swipes require extra force to scroll. This also makes "pulling" down notifications with extra content very inconsistent. For example, pulling down your Amazon shipping notification that contains multiple shipments bundled into one notification doesn't always get pulled down.
Oddly enough, this issue will go away for seemingly no reason, and then return.
Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?
no...do you have a screen protector?
No screen protector but it seems like the problem disappeared on its own.
