Since the update, I have definitely experienced worse battery life, especially overnight on standby/idle and also overall when I'm at home on WiFi in general, I have read a few posts about the November security patch causing worse battery on a lot of different phones so I don't know if it is because of that, I just hope either the December patch sorts it, or HMD make the battery optimisation better in the next update patch from them soon, has anyone else noticed worse battery performance since Oreo?
Doesn't seem any different to me ill be honest.
For me it even seems to be a little bit better than on Nougat.
I have stellar battery life all together but standby could be better. The other night I lost 3-4% over night and that is more than the usual 1-2% I'm used to on my phones. Not something to get upset about really but something I've noticed.
No battery drain here, my opinion seems the same good as on nougat to

Me too. I have a little better battery performance since Oreo.
Although I'm a battery drain. I only have 18 apps allowed to work in background. I have enabled "Clean background activities" in battery menu too.

Where's the clean background activities?
Can't see it on mine.
Sorry, I'm a Spanish speaker and I made a free translation. I attach you a screenshot. Maybe it can help you to find the menu. It's the first option (Option which is switched on).

Ok already using that, was looking for some sort of global switch.
All of my apps are in the whitelist and are allowed to do as they please, seems a pointless feature to me.

Not to me. I don't want the likes of Facebook running all the time. I'll check it when I can be bothered. Otherwise I want it dead dead dead.

Just turn off notifications for the app you are using, the only app i get notifications from is Gmail everything else can wait.
I was at 8 hours SOT yesterday with 32% battery left, like i said it seem a pointless feature.

Battery on oreo is awesome, if you want less energy use during sleep use "naptime" from playstore.

Not just notifications I don't want Facebook or the likes doing anything in the background so for me useful that way. Not necessarily for battery.

If they aren't consuming battery what are they doing that is so scary you need to disable them from running in the background? Serious question BTW i am not taking the mic.

The point is I don't need them doing anything in the background, nothing, NADA, zip, no matter what it is they might be doing I don't need it.
The apps I do need are switched on.
This is personal preference buddy.

Same here, I have most of my apps disabled apart from things that actually need to be running like PingID for work authentication / MS Authenticator / emails and 4 or 5 other things.
Try "data saver" if you have that option in your OREO ROM
Yes I did say DATA saver
Go to Settings - type "data saver" in the search box - switch it on
Works magic for me with a standard OREO ROM and nothing else.
since 8.1 update, battery draining has been worse
Has anyone seen a slightly worse SOT since the pie update brought that setting?

Maybe try a third party app from the play store. I think the built in one is hard fixed not to allow flashlight below 15% no option to enable it
I thought there would be maybe something like a root solution cause i have root, but couldnt find a solution til now
When the charger connected not showing rapidly chargin and showing slow charging only..can anyone confirm?
I have the same issue have you found a solution?
u using original charger or another? A2 supports 18w charger maximum for quick charge
same here, I use the charger that came with the phone.

2 things :
1. .........
Open the
??? sorry man i wrote a whole post that just disappeared :crying:
Basically :
• enable fast charge in battery settings
• enable charging as default charging method in dev settings
#lastly in my Xiaomi Jasmine android 1 there was an extra option that doesn't appear on all phones, models or even builds but that DOES exist which is a toggle to force allow or force disallow fast charge from dev settings ... similar how xiaomi offers the toggle to share wifi to wifi because this a feature removed from most android phones and so since amdroid 1 is more like base android , so maybe check for it
see the attached screenshots as reference...ive converted my jasmine to wayne so I can't show a screenshot
last but not least if there is no toggle and you have enabled it in battery settings and usb default connection is set to charge it can only be a software bug in which case file a bug report with xiaomi devs

Thanks for your time man.
I don't know why, but neither of your two options work for me. Their is no toggle in the battery settings, or a option in the devs menu. I'm probably to dumb to find it, there is no way they would remove such a setting right?
Good Day XDA Friends!, I would like to take opinions from you guys to a feature that may exist without us knowing (not sure).
As this post indicates(https://android.stackexchange.com/q...tery-but-use-connected-power-to-run-the-phone) Redmi note 8 supports BATTERY IDLE CHARGING which means using the phone plugged and while using it, it uses the plug itself to sustain charge and not the battery itself. This may prolong the battery life by lessen the battery cycles like laptops that have conservative modes. With that I would like to gather some insight about this feature if it will have some problems with the battery especially when doing something that is intensive. Thanks for the reply!
Great info !
i hope custom rom makers implement this feature in their roms ...

I think it's a kernel side not in custom rom. It works in every custom rom with specific kernel that supports idle charging
how to enable it?

I use ACCA Advanced charging controller app, there is an option within that to enable the OP mentioned feature. But of course, the Kernel has to support it, for it to work. But if your ROM does not support it, it is just a question of flashing a custom kernel.
ACCA can be downloaded from here or installed from the Magisk repo, although the Magisk repo version only has the Terminal to manage configuration changes.

I personally use Universal although it's implementation of Battery idle has only just been added, unfortunately I am unable to provide a direct link to it, but it can be found in the RN8 telegram group.

It is a separate app that allows you to tinker with other charging techniques. For example you can specify a cooldown rate when the battery is getting to hot, it allows you to use Battery idle providing the kernel supports it, plus more. The app is called Advanced Charging Control App AccA for short there is also a Magisk module in the repository for ACC but that is all command line. But it you install the app it does install that module as the app is just the GUI for the module.

Sorry that's my fault, you have to make sure your device is plugged in inorder to do the test properly otherwise it will fail.

Yes I would advise to disable any smart charging that's built into the ROM.
The developers do mention to check out the battery university link before using it. But the app does have its own profiles built in which can be accessed on the middle button, generally the the default profile is good enouth.
I could share my own personal settings but they definitely wouldn't be ideal for everyone, especially since I manually limited the charging current to 800ma. Which would mean it would take longer to charge the battery to the charge limit.

what kind of issues? no one has ever reported any issues regarding battery idle mode in supported devices, at least i never encountered it both here and in telegram group
probably issues will arise if the charger and cable is not compatible
im using it intensely these days, playing mmorpg while multi tasking watching youtube or browsing
what i notice is phone's temperature actually does not as hot when using the battery and if you afraid if the power might be too high you could just adjust it using acca module although it was unnecessary
you could just try, do at your own risk
for me having phone running like laptop is really useful
