Successful Sprint Z2 SIM Unlock! - Moto Z2 Force Guides, News, & Discussion

Decided to take a gamble on a post fromMod Editabout being able to unlock
the sprint moto z2 force remotely. I can say that everything was successful, and that the
phone is now unlocked!
He's definitely real, and able to help. only requirement is the bootloader be unlocked,
and he does the rest from teamviewer. Best $20 spent.
Thought that maybe people were unsure about trying him out, since he's a newer user
on here, and wanted to give it a shot.

Mod Edit

I used to service a couple of days ago and everything went without a hitch. In fact he went above and beyond to be helpful.

He was great, very accommodating. Been happy with my Z2 since on T-Mobile.

I too was stuck with a locked Sprint Moto Z2 Force. I reached out through Viber and he was great. He communicated clearly and promptly and completed the whole process in under 20 minutes. It also only costs $20 and actually works. No need to waste money on those sketchy websites. You will get to watch the whole process occur right before your eyes. I recommend 100%.

Yes, write me in messenger. Sprint possible to do dualsim

Permanent?
I just want to make sure. Is this service genuinely permanent?
I have experience with other Sprint Unlocks (HTC 10, m8, m9, lg g3) by software and none of them were permanent. If I factory reset the phones or rolled back to stock software the unlock would disappear.

It is permanent. I've flashed multiple roms on phone and it is unlocked.

Just wanted to ask anyone have Sprint Moto Z2 force unlock, have anyone use the phone on cricket or attached network?

so how does he do it? is he deleting some partitions or renaming some file? this is xda and selling your service should be looked down upon. instead you should share the knowledge.

its probably done using GC PRO TOOLS. its worth it just to pay for the unlock.

i have a tmo Z2 and can not get it unlocked by the carrier or moto can you help? i got 40 on it if you can.

buying a sprint locked for use in Greece. Do i still need to unlock it for use with international carriers, or not? cause i have a droid turbo (verizon branded) and it never needed to get unlocked. Unlock Att network on moto X

Hi, anyone here have recommended website that provide the unlock code for moto X att? Just bought it a 3

Hi, I'm also from Indonesia and got my AT&T Moto X 2 weeks ago.
I've been searching through this forum for the recommended unlock site. Tried to contact them and confirm their delivery time before deciding which one I would place my order to. Most of the sites replied that there are some issues with the AT&T unlock service and they would need several days to come back with the code.
I then decided to contact AT&T customer service and request the unlock code for my Moto X, got it for free
If your Moto X is a non-contract device, maybe you want to give it a try while waiting from cellunlocker to get back to you. Good luck !
@deviantartjr, I have sent a PM to you.
Maybe it helps.
Good Luck!

Yes, I told them that I bought the phone when I was in the US for business trip and used it with AT&T Gophone prepaid card. I'm now back to Indonesia and would like to use it with local simcard and they gave me the unlock code
I got mine rooted using jcase's pnwmymoto and use the steps in the other thread to protect the root after OTA update. I can say that bloatware in AT&T Moto X is minimal, only myATT, visual voicemail, and AT&T phonebook. I can't uninstall them but I disabled myATT & visual voicemail. only AT&T Phonebook is the annoying one sometimes it will try to connect to AT&T but still manageable.
I don't feel any significant lag at the moment, I can feel slight lag after installing xposed framework but the ability to customize the phone is worth that slight lag.

Hi there. i bought a Moto X from motorola's website by choosing ATT with no contract. How did you get the code? Did you call them? to whom did you talk? actuallly i talked to customer care regarding this unlock issue, they told me that i have to activate the phone first which means $36 at first bill and wait for 60 days to meet the requirements mentioned at that page www .att .com/ deviceunlock/ client/ en_US
The customer care also said that they can't unlock it since i am not a ATT customer and don't have SSN.
I am stuck here. How can I get the code free? initially i thougt they would give me it free. Maybe i talked to wrong people.

Root AT&T Moto X on 4.4.2?

I bought a used AT&T Moto X and it's on 4.4.2. Is it possible to root this (maybe through downgrading first), or do I need one of the unlocked versions of the phone?

unless an exploit comes out in the future (but i think everybody is pessimistic about this), the locked versions can't downgrade and can't root 4.4.2.
so you need either an unlocked version, or a locked version pre-4.4.2
And no....don't downgrade. You could easily brick your phone.

Ah good idea... selling it new.
Actually I'm not sure I need root. I only rooted my S3 to get rid of touchwiz, but this stock android might be ok. Only app I use that needs root is file manager and drivedroid. And I want to disable the camera shutter sounds
I'd like to put CM11 on there but looks like motox isn't well supported by CM anyway.

No one is really in the market for a moto x unless you sell it for dirt cheap. You don't really need to root this device it's great without but even better with root. You can disable the camera shutter sound from the camera menu. Es file explorer is a great alternative? But if you want return it and get the T-Mobile version its unlocked. This phone has been really great.
MOTO X
Why are all pessimistic that manage to get root on a closed bootloader version from AT & T?
Why do these companies do not sell at least an opportunity to get open bootloader? What do they lose?
I miss perekllyuchatelya regimes in 2G, 3G, and other other joys ...
I bought my Moto X directly from Motorola (not subsidized from AT&T) for use with AT&T. I did not opt for the slightly costlier DEV model, so is this thread telling me my personal property cannot ever be unlocked to be used somewhere else?

Pretty much...
Don't confuse bootloader unlock with SIM-Unlock though.
You can pay a small fee and get your AT&T X unlocked to use on other GSM carriers....AT&T also might provide you with the code if you meet certain criteria. Bootloader unlock is another story. AT&T forbids Motorola from giving out unlock codes for their branded phones. Currently the ONLY possibility for unlocking the bootloader on an AT&T X is through the China Middleman.
Apologizes if any (or all) of this is redundant.

Thanks, I pretty much figured in this day and age that the SIM could be unlocked or I'd have bought the unlocked one to start with. What bothers me most is I do not use/abuse root on any of the devices I own and am only interested in doing so on my X to run the Titanium Backup app I purchased to run on my older phone. I guess I knew back then the app needed root to run but since that used to never be an issue due to the collective experience I have at my fingertips here at XDA-Developers.com. it never dawned on my that a day would come where root would be taken away from me never to be returned.

Thinking of switching to Republic Wirelss -- advice?

i'm on Sprint with a Galaxy S3 ... thinking of switching to Republic Wireless on a Moto X.
1. Can I root the phone?
2. Can I flash any custom ROMs? Which ones will work with Republic?
3. Existing Republic customers -- are you happy with the service/phone?
4. Does it come with KitKat? Is it pretty much AOSP vanilla, or bloated?
Thanks!

You would have to hope you can still buy a bootloader unlock code from the guy in China. Or else you will not be able to root. Assuming it comes with 4.4.2, which it probably will now. And the guy selling codes for 45 could stop anytime. Or he may not be able to unlock yours. It will be a gamble.
I'd suggest you pay outright for a dev edition. Then you're good to go.

Otherwise, good chance RW 4.4.2 phones will never be rooted.

The phone can be unlocked if you BUY the unlock code. Mine personally is unlocked from the first go around.
To answer your questions:
1) If you order the phone and receive it running 4.2.2, then yes, you can root the phone, then safestrap and upgrade to 4.4.2 using the guide in the General section. If you receive the phone running 4.4.2 then your only hope is to unlock your bootloader via the China middleman.
2)There are no custom ROMs that support the custom software that RW bakes into their ROM to make their services work. If your bootloader is unlocked, you can flash all you want, just won't work as a cellphone.
3)I love the Moto X and RW service. Sprint is not always the best, but I get coverage most everywhere I travel, plus I get WiFi in most everywhere I go.
4)For now, new phones bought directly from RW should still come running 4.2.2 until their stock runs out. Don't know what a new phone from Motomaker would come with. Their KK ROM is generally debloated aside from all of Googles apps and HPs Printer plugin.
Thanks for the info ...
Does anyone know ...
1. if I buy a Moto X straight from motomaker, or used on craigslist ... can I flash it with the Republic ROM?
2. If I buy a Republic moto ... can I later flash it to use with a Simple Mobile SIM card?
thanks
You won't be flashing anything that requires a custom recovery if you get either with 4.4.2 installed, cause you won't have root. Or an unlocked bootloader. Unless you get lucky and the unlock codes are still available for 45 dollars and your phone is in his list.
That's what I was trying to say previously.
OK, but what if I get a Moto from Motorola ... which I assume is easily rootable ... can I then flash the Republic ROM on to it?

You may need to confirm with a google search, but yes.
There's only one north american model of the n5, and it works on most any carrier, except Verizon apparently.
---------- Post added at 03:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:28 PM ----------
I would google "nexus 5 [carrier name]" to see if out works on the specific carrier you want.
I've been planning on the Moto X from Republic Wireless. It sounds like from Moto Maker they are coming with 4.4.2, so I can only hope the guy selling codes is still doing so and can unlock mine, otherwise wait and pray they find a way to unlock 4.4.2 on RW..
If not, I hope I can live with a generally stock phone.. It does seem like the Moto X is pretty good all around as it is, so maybe it won't be so bad :fingers-crossed:
I have used RW for about 2 or 3 months and I am planning to switch to something like T-mobile for various reasons. all the reasons that annoy me enough to switch are somewhat small stuff but that's just me.
the reasons are: no emoji support, no 3rd party texting app supported fully (texting works mms doesn't), slower than the rest software updates (we got our 4.4.2 update, if I'm not mistaken, last), and my biggest annoyance with them is not allowing me to unlock my phone (but I eventually did it anyways).
I also feel like they don't listen to the community as much as they should but they sure as hell listen to it more than a big carrier.
anyways that' just my opinion, I might add a few things to this list if I think of them.

[Q] Unlocked At&t Moto X not connecting to new carrier

I sent my At&t Moto X 2014 to get unlocked and when I received it and was told that it was unlocked, I took it to T-Mobile to get a SIM card to finally use it and it didn't want to connect to the carrier. It keeps saying to try again at a later time but the T-Mobile representative says that it may not have been unlocked right. Does anyone know what I can do or if it has happened to anyone else?

Ive never heard of sending a phone somewhere to be unlocked. Generally you either request an unlock code from your carrier or buy one from one of the many sim unlocking websites out there.
Have you contacted the place you sent your phone? That should be your first step. How much did it cost?

It was a cell phone store that usually repairs phones or unlocks them and so on, unfortunately I got out of T-Mobile too late to go back to the phone place. It cost $45 to unlock, and by seeing all these threads, I can already tell I overpaid.

Ouch! That's extortion! Unlock codes are usually around $5 from a third party site, or if the phone is off contract your carrier will give you the code for free. All you do is put in the new sim, type the code in the dialer and you're done. $45 for that is ridiculous. You definitely overpaid, sorry to say.
I saw in the other thread that some people had luck when they created a new APN. Have you tried that?

Yeah, I saw that, it was just my first time unlocking a phone and a friend had previously told me he got his unlocked there so I went there too. Never again, though. I did create a new APN and it connected to T-Mobile briefly for like 2 seconds before saying it had no service again. Now it doesn't connect at all. I don't think it has to do with it being unlocked wrong since other people have had the same problem. It definitely has something to do with the APN, I believe.
I had this problem and moto replaced my device. I still get disconnected from the new device but it's a lot better than the old one. I believe it's hardware issue. I'll have to call them again.

2. Use phone for 40 days
3. Sim Unlock the phone with T-Mobile
4. Unlock Bootloader: https://support.oneplus.com/app/ans...-bootloader-for-oneplus-6t-(t-mobile-version)
5. Flash non-TMobile OS version https://www.oneplus.com/support/softwareupgrade
6. Profit from receiving direct updates from OnePlus instead of Tmobile
Let me know what you think of the plan

More to the above I want to get a dual sim slot and see if I can use dual sims once the OP OS version.

That's what I'm talkin' about.......... :good:
Don't you have to have the device paid off in full before you can Sim unlock?
If so, rather just buy directly from OP.
I am afraid your plan won't work even if you get your bootloader unlocked.

Interesting.
I purchased the Sprint variant of the Essential Phone and that allowed me to flash the non Sprint version, and get updates directly from Essential, so that answer is all BS.
I learned not to trust TMobile reps or OnePlus comments as they have no idea what the F*uck they are talking about most of the time.

I hope he is wrong too but this coming from a OnePlus rep does have some weight. We will know in 40 days.

By the way, when I boot my phone it still says Sprint variant and all, but the software is not based on what Sprint is using on the Essential phone. SO the phone does not get magically changed, the software however is able to be switched over.
I guess its just a waiting game.
Anyone know if OnePlus releases full images off their phones so users can flash the stock images if they ever screw up the phone with modding?

Yes they do at downloads.oneplus.com but looks like 6t section has not been added yet.
If your bootloader is unlocked and you're flashing roms, why does it matter if you get updates from OnePlus? They'll be posted here to flash the day they're pushed internationally.

OP phones are pretty easy to mod and I'm 99% sure we will be able to flash global version of OOS. Though we're gonna need a guinea pig to try out the process.. I just hope the codename is same (fajita) for the TMo variant.
#5 is not possible. Phone is locked down pass the bootloader.
I'm just going to return mine. I may get the 6t later but that finger print sensor is pretty meh at the moment. I do like the water drop notch and bigger battery tho

Once you unlock the bootloader, you should be able to flash TWRP then flash the global version of OOS. And as I said before, hoping that both the variants have the same codename.
You can get it unlocked now via TMobile. Many have. I went to TMobile help on Twitter and told them I wanted to unlock the bootloader. They bypassed the standard unlock policy. I was able to permanently unlock, toggle oem unlocking, and request my unlock code from OnePlus.

Stupid question but did you pay off the device? Or do you still owe a balance

Nope. I still owe full amount. I did the trade in, but that's it. They didn't challenge it one bit.
