-= Palm Project 14.1 =-
A LineageOS based Rom
Brought to you by Side, Creeper36, and the rest of the Palm Project Team.
Code:
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* We're not responsible for bricked devices, thermonuclear war, or you getting
* fired because the alarm app failed. Please do some research if you have any
* concerns about features included in this Rom before flashing it! YOU are
* choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at us for
* messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
What is Palm Project:
This is a personal project that I wanted to released for all users to enjoy. This is a Rom that is made by its users. I will maintain it by taking requests. I know that there are many different Roms available but...who cares. That's the magic of open source!
Palm Project is a light-weight Rom for daily usage without any of the circus stuff and useless additions.
What is NOT Palm Project:
Palm Project is NOT a stable-as-stock Rom. There are still some bugs and issues to be fixed but its perfect for daily usage. Its not a copy of the LineageOS Rom.

Recommended Open GApps: NANO
Recommended TWRP Recovery (TWRP 3.0.2.0 by @djeman): [HERE]
INSTALLATION
Clean installation is recommended!
Recommended Minimum GApps Package: Nano.
ALWAYS BACKUP FIRST!
Boot your device to TWRP - (Test Team prefers using TWRP-K3 by katinatez.. Other versions, including Official TWRP, may give undesirable results).
Wipe > Advanced Wipe > Tick 'Dalvik/Art Cache, Cache, System, and Data'... then Swipe To Wipe.
IF You Are Coming from Stock Rom: Wipe > Format Data > Type "YES"... then Swipe To Wipe.
Go Back to Main Menu > Reboot > Recovery – (this step will set your internal sdcard file structure).
Plug in your cable to your Device and PC.
Move your downloaded Rom and GApps Package files to your internal storage.
Install > select Rom and GApps (they can install one right after the other with no problems).. then Swipe To Install.
[color=" red"]After installation, DO NOT Wipe Cache/Dalvik – (This Rom is Odexed and will actually make booting longer if you wipe).[/color]
Reboot and Enjoy the Rom!
*NOTE: During Initial Setup, Any Errors or Stop Messages will usually be corrected by Restarting your Phone!

Coming from an LG G4 to this phone, I can tell you it isn't slow at all... G4 was 6 core, 3gb ram and was rapid. This is juuuust as fast apart from the UI. Maybe you've got a dodgy chip

well it isnt VERY slow, it is just certain jobs or processes are extremely slow, and im talking very slow, because of the cpu
now this particular processes are not visible most of the time but it is stuff like messenger bubble lag when watching yt 720p60, status bar pulldown is barely 3 fps at some times, and i could go on and on
all im saying is that you should try atleast a j5 2015, and youl see how that sd410(64bit) completely destroys sc9830 in any scenario
for instance, desire 10 lifestyle(or whatever) has a sd400 and ive never seen it lag, and apparently sc9830 is a better soc..
also gpu from j3 is from 2008 apparently, hahaha so that definitely doesnt help
also you cant make a rom flying fast if cpu isnt capable of doing all those things :silly::silly:

You're talking about a £120 phone.
I never experience UI lag as bad as you say.
You haven't got live display on have you? That kills the FPS

yes. £120. that is a lot for a slow phone.
j5 2015 costs the same
a lot of better chinese phones cost the same but perform better
there are cheap used phones that perform better
other companies like htc or lg are pretty good and not very overpriced like samsung and apple
im a little ***** innit hahah

So you're telling me the GPU is from 2008????
The T-Mobile G1 was only released late 2008...
Pretty sure its not that old don't make stuff up.
These guys do some really good work on here for this phone. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't still have it. Nougat ROMs run absolutely mint on here. OctOS is super fast without a hiccup. (Most of the time)

i wish i was joking about the gpu...
take a look at this https://www.notebookcheck.net/ARM-Mali-400-MP2.116279.0.html
it tells you the manufacturing date and list of soc that use it
also opengl es 3.0 was released 2012 so since our gpu doesnt use opengl es 3.0 it is definitely not afrer 2011
Guys, [email protected] suggested 3.0.2.0 TWRP. Is 3.0.2.1 OK? Or should i look for that older version?

Hi [email protected],
There are many Nougat ROMs (LOS, Octo-N, RR, Palm)
All ROMS working fine in my J320G device, i can't compare which better.
Now, I use LOS ... Im confuse to choose which ROM to use.
Can you make unique ROM each version? So, we can easily to choose which ROM to use.
For example : Original ROM, lite ROM, themed ROM, games ROM, full features ROM, etc
Or give extra short description each the ROM name for example :
Palm Project 14.1 (lite, customable), Palm Project 14.1 (themed) or something else ...
Btw, Thanks you very much
Hi [email protected]
This is first build but also latest ROM from you.
Is it OK for daily use?
You can try ^^
I have a problem..when I use multitasking such as I was moving some files internal to sd and minimize it and open another app first automically stopped his works...and there are some screen flickerings
Sorry for my bad English

Hey guys, since there's a lot of demand for Slim, I thought I'd build Slim for you guys. As of now it's in an Alpha stage and near AOSP, but it runs smooth

It's got.. I actually can't say because right now, for some weird reason the SlimLauncher doesn't have the app drawer button. But yes, it doesn't have much considering they're very alpha.
So the story is that the Slim team lost one of it's core team members (who funded a lot of the Slim stuff like servers and whatnot). After this, Slim had some problems, they've addressed it on their website. Right now, (as far as I know) they are trying to fix up "AOSPB" or AOSP-CAF. AOSP CAF is a slightly tweaked version of AOSP optimized for Snapdragon devices. Most ROMs like Tesla, Minimal, Validus, Flayr are based on AOSPB as it is easier for various devices. (Regardless of what base though, I still have to manually add the exynos code to get the stuff building and running lol). That went a little Off-topic, but anyway, the Slim team is hibernating(?) as of now. [If I'm wrong somewhere, please do correct me]
Also if anyone's wondering why the delay in a ROM release (regardless of which), it's because my S3 had issues and I switched to an S4 for a while because I got a little mad at it. (Don't worry lol, this S4 isn't mine )
@Gokulbalram: what a pie, my dear ...downloading. Hope, you had sunny vacations.
Everything works so far, great for alpha! Only clock settings FC's. Waiting on a few candies as Pie and QS-edit

Yea I know they had some issues ,as seen on they G+ page,as well development for it was slow and everyone else noticed..well they are still in alpha and N is just around the corner.
Is camera and everyone else important working ? Will definitely try it later on
I tried this ROM, its very fast really fast. but there are some major bugs. 1) it can see 774MB of RAM, we have only 833MB ram and lower ram isnot good for us. 2) heat up. 3) custom actions for buttons 4) google play consumes so much RAM. I'll hope u'll fix bugs. thank you and good luck guys :highfive:
Does this ROM can read ExFAT cards?
NFC working?
Location working?
sorry for many questions but my bandwidth is limited.
@yoahmad1995: GPS-sensor works for me (after a reboot). @jujuna: no heating here, try a slimmer setup. Major bugs is pretty overdressed.
Great! ~ I'll be looking forward for this ROM~
Ah!! Been waiting for it. Thanks a ton. Good going dev.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Ok so I downloaded it through an coffee shop and flashed with mini gapps 19/5 build and its very smooth but here are the bugs that I suffered:
NFC not working (no NFC in settings)
Can't adopt SD Card always says corrupted same is Nameless ROM (I'm doing this to play my heavy games without moving files etc)
for app drawer in stock launcher, I switched to Google Now Launcher which comes with the gapps that I installed so its ok.
Otherwise, ROM is just great as haxynos even better.
A simple way to reach AppDrawer with StockLauncher: settings ..gestures. Define here any gesture...
After I enabled zram which is extremely needed on our S3 and reinstalled my backup apps via titanium backup, it froze and went to bootloop exactly like haxynox.
So I guess its kernel related.
I'll try agni kernel and report back ASAP.

Unfortunately, it still present even after I flashed agni kernel with cache wipe.
@yoahmad1995: Agni is an AnyKernel. You must flash it on the unchanged SlimKernel.

Try not enabling ZRAM.
To be honest, ZRAM isn't "extremely needed".
The same even without zram.
Maybe ASV Level has something to do?
Well actually I really don't like cm roms because the wifi dropping issue. It's really so annoying and they couldn't solve it from cm11 to cm13. I hope Aosp build can be solution for us and cm goes to history. I think they should've accept google's offer but whatever. Thx for the aosp rom can't wait to see it as stable!

I'm telling this out if experience rather than knowledge. But if I were to explain, I'd say that ZRAM requires a lot of Input/Output speeds which is fairly low for data exchange compared to RAM (RAM operates on a far higher speed)

Changelogs
As we're getting back into the thread game, keeping up with threads and updating them as per changelogs can be too hectic given our schedule. However, very detailed changelogs always go up on our Google+ page, follow us for constant updates!
Instructions & requirements
We highly recommend you to follow these instructions very carefully. Users usually tend to skip a few steps and eventually fall in trouble. Are you with me? Good. Let's get this train going.
Just a few things to keep in mind first -
If you're coming from another ROM / Stock, your system data (not internal storage) will have to be wiped. This includes apps, accounts, messages, call logs etc.
There's been some users complaining about different GAPPS variants messing up installs and causing a ton of issues. Upon investigating it seems OpenGapps Mini/Nano and Banks GAPPS work best.
Understand that Paranoid Android is a custom ROM and it might lead to addiction as it's relatively good. We shouldn't be accused of anything just incase your cat starts drinking wine. Things get a little woozy in the Paranoid World.
Some brain might be involved if things go wrong. Not a lot though, as much to solve what's 1+1.
Okay let's get to the main bit -
Once you have all the required files - boot into recovery and wipe the bananas out of your device. Get into the wipe menu and wipe data, system, cache and dalvik cache (basically everything except Internal Storage).
Once wiped, get into the "Install from zip" menu and select the ROM zip. (pa_bacon_6.x...). Once added to the install queue, TWRP will ask you if you want to add more zips into the queue - Click on "add more zips" and select the GAPPS package.
Swipe the bar on the bottom to flash/install zips. Once both zips are done installing - Reboot into system and set-up your device, do not do anything else.
Once you're done setting up your device - well that's when you're done. One thing though - Make sure you DO NOT INSTALL any other zip in the same queue as the ROM & GAPPS. Meaning, do not flash anything like a kernel or a root package while installing the ROM. We recommend you do that AFTER you're done setting up your device.

All work good except for the camera, it lags, before and after flash sultan HAL, it need a lot of time for focus too.
Flashed the ROM and there was no sound in calls
Both the caller and receiver had no sound
Doesn't boot on my white E1003, stuck on one+ logo. I have to flash a custom kernel.
Double tap to sleep doesn't work.

Definitely the best ROM or there. It's just works perfectly. The only bad thing is the camera. It's lagging and not performing well. And if I flash Sultan HAL is even worse. I don't use the camera too much so I can live with it. I wonder how did Sultan made the camera perform that well on his ROM, but.when flashing the HAL on other Roms it isn't nearly the same. It would be awesome to have AOSPA with sultans Roms camera performance.
Anyways, as I said, by far the best rom I tried for Onyx.
Glad to have PA back. Congrats!!!!

,Nope, not a single problem with calls. I don't use the phone as a phone too much though hehe, ironic right? But the few time I call my family through the day not a single problem. Maybe gapps conflict? I used banks as is the one they recommend.

@xboxfanj,
Is the CMTE ready for use on AOSPA? I've been using Swift Dark theme with multiple ROMs previously and it always worked flawlessly. With AOSPA (the first onyx release) multiple UI elements remained unthemed. This happened with other themes as well.
thanks for the rom @xboxfanj !
just a minor (actually formal) thing: ur install instructions appear to be quite noob proof. therefore i think "install pa_bacon_..." might cause confusion for such

halogenOS Checklist
Although no data should be lost or damaged by the flashing process,
we advise you to follow the following steps if you are coming from another rom:
Please take a full nandroid backup!
Please copy your back up to an external device.
Backing up your Internal Storage is also recommended.
When completed, please clean flash the build!
Although you usually can dirty flash halogenOS over other ROMs, considering the other
ROM has the same Android version, it is not guaranteed. In case of serious
crashes please do a clean flash.
This is a ROM that is currently in an beta state.
XOS is a new generation cutting-edge OS for Android based on Code Aurora Forum releases.
What is XOS?
halogenOS, also known as XOS is a new Android ROM which ships with the global aim to
become a modular ROM which keeps as high as potentially possible operating
performance on your mobile device while still maintaining a sufficient feature
base of nice, small and minimal features that would not be available via any
external feature base, extension, mod or plugin.
We hope you have a truly halogenified experience!
Internals of XOS
At core, the ROM is composed mainly of components from CodeAuroraForums (CAF),
featuring only extremely minor set of components from CyanogenMod (CM) which
have been added to source in order to allow for better cross-device compatibility.
Our LOVE to others
A huge thanks goes to those behind the CodeAuroraForums (CAF), the CyanogenMod
organization and all of its
contributors for the sources used in the development of the base ROM which we
started with inclusive of all the work and dedication their team puts in order to
keep us updated on the awesome contributions that they make.
We will be keen on ensuring that we be up to date with the code from our base sources,
with regular ROM updates hopefully coming from time to time.
Please do not ask for ETA's (else you shall be spooked by Mr Skeltal). Almost all of us are
students, and with the current lifestyles and routines we have, it is not that easy to acquire
time to develop the ROM, though we'll be sure to keep you updated and release OTAs as
soon as they are available and ready for publication. If you want to be really updated quick,
then join us on Telegram: http://telegram.me/halogenos
Visit our website for features such as: Downloads, Information etc.

(Not finished yet)
Common stuff
Known issues:
No backlight for hardware keys
Please use Footej camera for video recording (4K supported) or Google Camera (1080p).
Navbar section in SystemUI Tuner crashes
Known issues are going to be fixed as soon as possible. We don't have infinite time.
Planned features (don't ask for these!):
Lockscreen Visualizer (This time we are going to make it ourselves. Since on CM-based ROMs the lockscreen visualizer causes the infamous QuickSettings Bug, we are making a new implementation)
Navigation bar & Hardware Keys toggles
Heads-Up toggle
Hardware buttons backlight
And more stuff I don't remember now
Highlights :
Substratum
Full media support (FFMPEG, video codecs, ...)
Great Audio quality, no distortions, no crap
Optimized many portions of the system including surfaceflinger, inputflinger, System Server, and more
Super fast boot
Superuser-capable
Great battery life
Soundmod support (not all soundmods work on Nougat, it's not our fault)
addon.d support (backups your gapps etc. when flashing new build - don't wipe system before flashing!)
init.d support
BusyBox
Disabled Access Time for all partitions (We don't need access time. When access time is enabled, it will store the exact date of the access when a file is accessed, what just wastes write cycles (in theory) and has impact in I/O performance.)
Super smooth
Signature Spoofing toggle (Support for MicroG)
Support for trusted third-party WebViews like Chrome
Long press on home for assist toggle
Security Patches in kernel
OpenGapps (Mini/Micro/Nano recommended) and Banks GApps support
Full KeyHandler & KeyDisabler support
Dexpreopt for faster (first) boot time and less space consumption on data partition
Upgrade & Boot the ROM in just 5 minutes - no more endless waiting for flashing a new build
Very high compatibility with other ROMs
Warning: You should not use SuperSU by Chainfire, as that breaks sensors on Nougat ROMs for Redmi Note 3 .
Instead, please flash this zip and install the phh's superuser app from Play Store: Phh's Superuser
How to update the ROM:
Download the latest zip
Reboot into TWRP (Please use official TWRP)
Do not wipe anything
Flash the ROM
Reboot
You don't need to wipe Cache/Dalvik.
You don't need to flash gapps again. There is some magic going on which keeps your GApps. Just make sure that you don't wipe system before flashing.
You don't need more than 5 minutes.
Supported Kernels
Stock kernel. (Great battery - Performance ratio) (recommended)
You can actually flash any custom kernel on this rom.
CM kernels are usually supported, especially those that are delivered as an
AnyKernel package.

OK, its pretty simple so I'm not gonna fill up the page with useless junk,
this source is pure caf and some code is modified with some optimization/device/substratum commits.
The Aim is to keep it as close to AOSP as possible,
if you want any features added go to the plenty of other ROMs available.
This is for folks like me who want a clean rom as close to pure aosp as possible.
What's CodeAurora Forums ?Code Aurora Forum (CAF) is a consortium of companies with projects serving the mobile wireless industry. Software projects it concerns itself with are e.g. Android for MSM, Femto Linux Project, LLVM, MSM WLAN and Linux-MSM. Code Aurora is basically AOSP plus all Qualcomm specific enhancements and optimization.

I just see forks of forks & some cherry picking that is rather bad documented (which doesn't mean it's bad, just impossible tracking) at the end the same Strix & Lineage base.
Edit: hmmm some of cherry picks do look interesting enough for tracking but that will be very hard thing to do.

Sure.
in my SOT might not be the best judge for battery life as I don't keep my phone in use throughout the day.
I use it intermittently. So, a flat battery graph when not in use is of particular importance.
It will obviously translate to better SOT but that will be more organic and original.
Not like other SOT champions who keep doing stuff till the last drop of battery to report 15 hours of SOT.
I see a tendency towards flat lining when resting with your script.
I just wish you add more stuff to it as you mentioned.
You might also discuss with jerry to add to make his flashable zola script complete.

pretty smooth so far, but phone was restart and into looping stage afterward, I can get into TWRP and wipe out and reinstall this ROM and it happened again. So I did wipe out and restore my original ROM and phone was restart again and into lopping stage. I have tried many times, same issue even I can get into TWRP, deleted everything.
I don't know how to sort out the issue, please guide me for the way to fix it up, many thanks.

We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub... and at CarbonROM Gerrit.

Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our Discord server! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.
We recommend MindTheGApps. OpenGApps should work, but please make sure you clearly mention the gapps you're using when reporting bugs.
Notice:
For this ROM to work you need to use the latest ODM Images. If you need additional guidance on how to do that, please refer to Sonys Guide on how to flash an ODM Image.

No one tried this rom yet? I have a problem over here. It keeps asking for password after the CarbonROM logo even though I wipe everything clear, any ideas? What I was doing was flash 41.3.A.2.99 with everything wiped, flash ODM, flash TWRP, flash the rom and then Pico OpenGapps. Something wrong with my procedure? Thanks in advance.
EDIT1 : Oh yeah, forgot to mention my device is F8332, it isn't supported?

Use the "format data" option in TWRP to get rid of encryption, wipe doesn't clear encryption. If coming from stock, thats necessary unfortunately due to differences in the encryption used. Otherwise (if coming from AOSP) the password its asking for would be the one you used before.
Dual sim support?

Volte Supported??
First of all, thanks alot @Myself5 and all other devs, who are working hard to bring this to our XZ :good:
My experiences after 1 day:
- rom is very smooth and snappy.
- root via Magisk v16 & Xposed 90.1-beta3 (systemless) works flawlessly
- the fp sensor always works, but it's not as sensitive as with stock
- night light worked - until I've installed Substratum and a Substratum theme, but after that it doesn't work anymore (even after deactivating, uninstalling the theme, a system restart and deinstalling the Substratum app it sill doesn't work). Also a dirty flash of the rom.zip didn't help to get it working again.
- the build-in camera takes acceptable pics (not as well as the stock camera, but acceptable); also focussing is a little slower than stock. Another thing is, it's not possible to chance the location to save the pics to the ext. sdcard.
- formatted as a portable storage, the ext. sdcard item on the left of the status bar can't be removed (see attachement)
- the battery consumption is a bit high (from 100 % to 98 % in 1 h - without doing anything)
But in the whole, it's really promising for th 1st official build :good::good::good:

Hello, is the battery life when used good ? As good as stock ?
And does it have that bug when if you record video the result will be green ?
Can you upload screen recording of rom from home to settings and other functions.
I plan on flashing this soon, but I figured I'd tell you, your link to the Carbon FAQ is broken.

The battery consumption while in use is ok. But my device doesn't go into deepsleep while the screen is off. So I had lost about 23 % in 10 hrs - leaving the device untouched!
Video recording works; I haven't noticed that bug.

Sorry, I went back to stock for now, as there's a new stock fw (41.3.A.2.107).
I have a few bugs to report. First, the fingerprint sensor is extremely slow, about half or even one third of the speed compared to stock. Second, could you guys please fix the deepsleep? That one is not working for now. And third, Night Light does not work at all...
Thank you for updating the XZ to Android 8.1 I am glad to see carbon rom on this device although it is not that stable for now.
Really nice ROM and I'm looking forward to make this my daily driver, I tried it for two days and these are the bugs I found:
1: GPU performance is really bad with 2d games and google maps lagging all the time when they never do on stock
2: CPU performance is inferior compared to stock, especially single threaded
3: enabling 120 hz display won't do anything and the settings or UI will crash when leaving the page
4: fingerprint seems to be sometimes less responsive, usable but can be improved
Camera is not so bad and the modded google camera works well, hopefully this will become the first proper AOSP based platform for this device that has only seen failures until now, keep up the good work.
Can I dirty flash this rom for just update?
I use Carbon Rom 3/31 version, but I can't use delta update because my device cannot receive the stock script.
I must change the rom script with Notepad+.
So...can I use dirty flash or....could you manage it?
Thanks for continously updating this rom and thank you for fixing the bug with the fingerprint sensor.
I'm not sure if deepsleep has been fixed but there is a big problem with playing music. I can't even play any music track at all...
Hello, looking forward to make this my daily driver, is it possible ?
What I would want is decent battery life and camera.
Hello. I tried to listen to music after installing the ROM, but the earphones are disconnected as soon as they are connected to the smartphone.
The earbuds pfe 132 and are made up of earphones with an iphone microphone.

Clean flashed the 10th build along with Rytekk's dual-SIM patch, Pico Open GApps and Magisk 16.3 to my F8332 and other than that annoying SD notification (which can be banished to the notification drawer by making System UI notifications low priority) and Night Light not working, the only other major issue raised ITT of the CPUs not entering Deep Sleep is fixed according to Adiutor.
Great stuff. I haven't been able to standardise on one ROM since the CM days (interesting side note, it looks like you built the kernel for the NOCT build on my Z2 tablet).
I recommend this to anyone for daily use. Also, lower your expectations to realistic levels guise. I remember when XDA threads were for flagging major broken functionality, not complaining that a few amateur enthusiasts weren't putting out work that competed on every indicator against the finished product of a multibillion-dollar for-profit international conglomerate.

Add these lines in build.prop, and reboot.
Code:
persist.multisim.config=dsds
persist.radio.multisim.config=dsds
ro.telephony.default_network=9,0
