My problem is MTP won't stay, everytime I plug the device into my computer it's in charging mode an I'm unable to see folders in my internal storage. I have to go into developer setting an hit MTP mode even know it says it's already in it. Then I get folders to show but once I unplug the device an plug it back in it's back to the same charging only. This is causing issues with me being able to flash SU after I flash twrp. In twrp when I open sdcard it shows nothing ,which I believe it stems from the device not staying in MTP mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

They restore your phone with the ORIGINAL STOCK ROM and everything that your phone has installed (Including Recovery) is lost. You don't have any recovery installed. You have to re-install it again.
Hit thanks if I helped.
After a visit at the mobile center the entire device will be resetted. Meaning official software and no recovery (Sony has no recovery build in so it seems). So yeah, you need to root it again and instal a recovery.

Have you enabled USB Debugging option from Developers Option..?
If no then do it. If you cannot see developer options then go to settings -- about phone -- tap o build number 7 times and you'll unlock developer tools option.
Then enable it and then connect your phone to compter via USB and do the necessary steps to flash CWM.
Also you on locked bootloader or unlocked bootloader.?

1. Check USB debugging is connected and your PC has properly installed the drivers for your phone. Also make sure your phone has prompted you to authorise the computer you're connected to.
2. Check no ADB is running in task manager before you try this, check flashtool isnt running or anything else that may use ADB (PC companion etc)
3. Try a different recovery
Oh and stupid question but you have re-rooted your phone first right and SuperSU is confirmed working updated and allowing rooted programs to work?

Anyone with the same issue ? I am stuck at the bootloader since I wiped out my system image I can get to the recovery but I don't have a way to transfer new ROM since phone wont detect USB (MTP).
I didn't have any image backed to restore to. Tried OTG cable/USB nothing worked
What are my options ?

Hi... Is data mounted and MTP enabled in TWRP?
Is your phone detected while in bootloader?
Try: fastboot devices
If phone is recognized, download stock firmware of your choice and flash it...

I guess I am doomed

Wait... I don't get it...
Are you stuck in recovery? Or bootloader?
Also you can't use ftp commands either in bootloader or recovery... I suggest you start by reading this thread to learn a few basics about Android commands and how-to :

Sorry to confuse you I can get to the bootloader and the recovery no problem but when I try to reboot to the system it kept saying no OS installed. I don't have any ROM installed and I can't use USB cable since phone won't detect it. So I am stuck at back-end.

So...
What operating system is installed on your computer?
Did you already install adb/fastboot drivers?
In device manager, while being in bootloader, is your phone detected when you plug your USB cable?
Did you try different cables, USB ports?

I tried different cables/PCs nothing worked. I think my phone USB port is defected but what confuses me more is that it can be charged just fine but no USB connectivity
It is still under warranty but not sure if it will be honored since I have the bootloader unlocked.

Nothing like said it is dead. I have another nexus 6 can connect easily to the PC I am pretty sure it is a phone issue.
Well, if you're 100℅ sure the USB port is damaged, there's nothing else than a repair that could bring your phone back to life... Good luck..!

Might be a driver problem.
Connect it your windows pc and check the Device Manager if it is detected as "Android" device. If so uninstall it and disconnect and reconnect it to the pc. Let windows install the MTP drivers.

I see, have you tried clearing the cache of MTP Host from Apps in the System Settings. Also try disabling USB Debugging.
I have this same issue using LOS 15.1. The solution is to go into Developer Settings and enable MTP using the 'Select USB Configuration' option. Then when you plug in via cable you will get the notification as normal. The problem is you have to do this every reboot, otherwise it's the same situation all over again. No Notification on plugging in and no way for your PC to see the device as it defaults to Charging mode.
I have "select USB conf" set as default (charging) and never had this issue. My PC sees the device even if I don't change the mode, I just don't see any files then. What drivers are you using?

I just installed the Official Oneplus drivers but it didn't help. I didn't think it would. The generic Windows 10 drivers were working fine with LOS 14.1. As you said, the PC does see the phone just fine, but not files until MTP is enabled.
It's the lack of a Notification when plugging in that's the problem. Without the Notification i can't switch from Charging to MTP mode. I've tried all Notification levels too. The only way to get the Notification to appear is to use the MTP setting in Dev Options, and then it works.. until next reboot.
Edit: Enabling 'USB Debugging' seems to be a working fix currently!

I spoke too soon about USB Debugging working. It doesn't help across reboots. Gonna Clean Install now. Hope you find a fix.
Clean install didn't help me. Just Google 'Oreo no mtp' to see how common this is.
I have a Nexus 5X on Oreo that doesn't have this problem. Other N5X owners do have it. It's totally random.
Good news everyone...
A fix is coming:
https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/209834/
At least for LOS 15.1 and any other ROMs based upon it.
@bakhiem91
Hello,
Phone: Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro
ROM: LineageOS 17.0
I installed LineageOS on my phone yesterday.
I used ADB and Fastboot on Windows with TWRP.
Now, I want to install ANXCamera in order to get back full capacity of my camera.
From my understanding, I can also do it using TWRP.
Problem:
When I enter adb devices in the terminal while the phone is on, the device is recognised.
After I enter adb reboot bootloader, and try again adb devices, the phone is not found.
Things done:
In the settings, I allowed USB debugging.
On Windows, I checked for updated of the drivers for the phone.
I follow the same process than yesterday, when I installed LineageOS, but somehow this time it doesn't work.
Do you know where the problem can come from?
-----
Additional question:
Can you confirm if then, I will have to use adb sideload to flash the zip of this program on TWRP please?
-----
Thanks a lot
I also encountered this. I then tried it on another laptop and all went well. You may try this, use other USB port, use system restore in Windows to roll-back to the point it still worked etc (yesterday)..

Thanks a lot, will try that.
Do you remember that is the command I should use to transfer the file in TWRP?
I don't know how it works to upload a file that is due to be an additional program and not a full ROM.
Please explain, don't know what you mean exactly.. Just copy the zip to your phone and flash within TWRP.
https://camera.aeonax.com/ is where you can download your camera app.

Yes, the procedure to follow is pretty easy in fact.
I was afraid it would need the use of an external device.
Thanks a lot for your help!
Hi, i wanted to install linage os. But unfortunately i got error 7. I deleted the stock android so now I can't go back. Download mode doesn't work for me, the computer doesn't find the phone. Tried removing asserts but then i get invalid zip error. Tried flashing newer trwp with the current one but i get error that the file is bigger than the partition. Any ideas?

Just saw your post.
Here is <Tab S2> forum so you better ask in phone section.
Btw. Afaik in download mode the device is only found by Odin not the PC. So you can flash stock ROM still.
That sees it only in recovery mode or when ROM has started.

I've never tried without turned on debugging so idk.
Tried other cables/USB ports already?
If a TWRP is working what about flashlng any old custom ROM with it?
I once flashed a friends S2 with LOS 14 or higher but had to repartition it to be able to.
@TheHaterBg seems not necessarily to be turned on.
Which Odin used?
