This a a port of an amazing Rom by Parth111999, Radioactive V1. Please go to his post here https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/development/rom-t3713641 and give him a thanks. I will post some screenshots when I have a chance, but if you go to the link above, you can see the screenshots there as this is a full port of his rom. Mr.Duck254 has compiled one of the best kernels I have ever seen, this battery with said kernel is by far the best this device has ever seen. Also, BOLO. He has some monsters of Roms on the horizon, he is the man when it comes to this device as personally development on the US J7 had grown stale. Now, we are invigorated with new gusto and development has and will continue to grow in strides equal to that of the international J7 community. So thanks to those devs over there as well. This rom has it all, and no blue light filter will never work cuz of the hardware of the device.
Install instructions
Put all required files on external SD card
it should be the rom, oreo beta edge zip, systemless root of your choice, then the encryption breaker.
Next you should boot to recovery, wipe everything but internal and external storage.
Then flash the rom, edge, root, and encryption breaker.
the awesome boot logo will start and then turn off its normal with root, then the second time around the watchdogs animation will start and boot takes about ten mins. Setup your phone and enjoy.

Oreo Beta Edge Zip

Bugs-
Only two, at boot it will say edge screen stops, click close and carry on.
app linking on app edge causes a force close, its a oreo feature so just not compatible with Nougat
Anything else? Please let me know.

Hello bro, I do not know if you have noticed but when placing one of the blocking methods when trying to unlock it has a delay of 10 seconds you think it can be fixed

No, it cannot it is like that with nougat. Im not sure if you noticed but its with every nougat build. Android fixed that problem with 8.0 best advice is after you type pin hit recents then recents again it should make it quicker. I noticed it first when we got the 7.1.1 update.

then you tell me that is a failure next in all ROMs nougat.
I said that cuz it is a major glitch and if u don't believe me don't ask me. I have no reason to make it up. Go flash stock and try it . It does the same thing. I'm running revolution right now and it does it on this.i finally ported fast rom it does it on that. I ported on8v2 and it does it there. It does it on nova. It's a nougat bug. Hitting recent kills the delay.
So in other news I did find a way for blue light. With our next rom it's working

I really like Dr Ketan's rom for the note 4 and note edge, he was up to nougat when I lost my note edge. Idk if he's still building these ROMs or if he would let you port. He seemed a little protective of his work... Just an idea though
Though I doubt you can do anything with Dr Ketan's rom. Is really like to see an AOSP based ROM...maybe resurrection remix, oxygen os, nitrogen os, dirty unicorn, etc....something pure Android or very close

Would it be possible to have a AOSP build ? I understand we do not have a AOSP base, so technically wouldn't be a " port " .

Hi,
I'm French, and I love this community whose solidarity and custom roms and helping people is the principles of XDA. So Thank you for what do you do and for all the big works you done.
I Love the custom ROM RROS v 5.8.3 but I have a question: RROS for Huawei P8 lite exist in version 6.0.x Marshmallow? Because I just find RROS for 7.1.2 who is very good :good: but If the same custom rom exist in 6.0.x Marshmallow it wiil be great.
So thank you for all the work you done to make XDA so beautiful and magnificent and where solidarity is the first principles. :highfive::good:

Abdroid 6 isn't related to gps fix... GPS will work better on 7.1.2, so instead of making another rom, surdu is fixing bugs on 7.1.2,which is good.

So Very Good, I install RROS 7.1.2 and waiting for update!!! But when he fix the GPS it will be new post or we can update direclty by the phone? Thank you men for your answer :good:
RROS Marshmallow has bootloop bug (Unknown reason), Vika__ tried to build it and also I tried to build the rom but same result.
As others have mentioned, you can get Marshmallow features in stock with no bugs. I think your best best is RROS Nougat May version with the cpufix or stock. The upcoming update is looking good, and I will definitely try it. It may even become my ROM of choice, we shall see
As many of you heard, android 8 has now been officially released. I will be working to get an AOSP version working on the 7" LTE tablet, I have heard that there may be significant HAL changes so it may take some time. I have just released the august update for the SM-T285, I've been also working to get a stable repo out for this device in the last couple of weeks. Anyway wish me luck.
Update 08/24/2017 - I was able to download the 8.0.0_r4 aosp sources and got it to compile the modified device tree. There seems to be significant changes with some HAL libraries, vendor specific libs are now moved to its own place in the system image. Will now proceed to actual testing and porting.

Great! Is there ANY chance you wil make an extra effort to release this for the SM-T280 also?
AFAIK the only difderence is LTE versus WiFi only [emoji4] ?

I won't be directly developing for the T280 sadly. There may be subtle differences at the kernel level and some components (e.g. GPS, touchscreen) which prevents ROMs for the T285 from working with the T280. However my work with the T285 should greatly speedup development for the T280 once the first custom ROMs arrive.

I remember some people tried on my CM/Lineage/Omni based roms on their T280 and it failed to boot, though I can't tell the method they used to flash those ROMs so it is possible that their methods are incorrect. As for stock ROMs this is new information for me if that is the case. I am unable to verify these as I don't have a T280, though if there is a dev who would like to try if would be nice.

my oreo build isn't usable at the moment, wifi doesn't work and you can't turn the screen back on after turning it off. Trying to figure out if this is a LineageOS issue or a hardware issue takes too much time, I'm waiting for the first official builds of Lineage OS to start rolling out before I spend more time on this.
Bacoor,
I've just bought a Galaxy Tab A6 LTE (SM-T285) and haven't rooted or done anything to an android phone in over 5 years. Feeling Green as hell! I'm back to being a newbie. Any suggestions you can offer to me on a guide and which TWRP and Android I should install on my phone. I'll need some tutorial help as I feel uneasy. Last Time I did rooting and custom roms was way back on the HTC Hero and then the HP Touchpad to Cyanogenmod.
Well with Oreo comes project treble which does in fact mess with the HAL libraries a lot. Maybe that means there is hope the Galaxy Tab A Line will get "Treble-ized".
Good news if we are.
Here is a thorough article covering 8.0: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/09/android-8-0-oreo-thoroughly-reviewed/

I am still on Android 5.1.x rooted, and probably only version for T285 which every feature is tested working.
Intended to upgrade to Android 6 or 7, but there isn't any stable firmware which is bug-free (ie. GPS and video recording).
Not optimistic on 8.0 being bug-free when the 6 and 7 not fixed after such a long wait (months).

Not really forgotten, it only takes really quite a lot time to fix issues, do development work on specific ROM (or kernel) versions when switching between ROMs / Android versions
and there's also real life.
There are certainly more developers needed for the Z5, Z4/Z3+
I hope that almost a rom with oreo could be released soon, otherwise I will need to buy a new device

Okay, two things. Number one, why the hell is every ROM for this phone TouchWiz? I'm not asking for AOSP (as I know that is not something you have motivation for) but I'm asking why not make a TouchWiz ROM based off of MiUI (Okay, terrible idea, but just an example) like you did with the Pixel ROM? I'm NOT making a request but just wondering why you decide to go TouchWiz based?
Also, could you explain why there are navigation buttons on the bottom? The J7 has physical.
Anyways, great job fullofhell, you are contributing to this small community every day.
Has AOSP made any progress, or have you decided to not do it at all?

That's what Samsung is. That's all we have for the j7.the device tree is incomplete and not any reason to go further. I just port these cuz that's what the other j7 phones have.i am currently working on the essential phone and with the j7, we are probably done with this phone totally after a note 8 Oreo port. And trust me I absolutely hate TouchWiz.i hate Samsung actually..I'm selling my Nexus if u want a good phone...I have an Oreo 8.1.0 rom that is based on aosp.rocking 33k views in 2 +months ..over 1000 downloads. The j7 was my Beginning and I won't forget it but it's just time to move on to bigger things. And miui is horse crap.there is nav buttons cuz that's what the market is leaning to, and no physical buttons. It's a port of a phone with those features,so we get em too..thanks for the support guys

I noticed this too. I think since this phone has NFC hardware, you could just easily get a third party app.
Still, would be nice to do it through system.

What 3rd party app would allow you to use NFC terminals in-store if NFC is not enabled (or even an option) in device settings? Just curious. Ty!
Just curious .... FullOfHell & Mr.Duck .... are you guys finished with the ports for our J7 ? I look forward every week for something new, but it
seems you have moved on to other devices maybe? Just wanted to know if I should keep checking. Thanks for you hard work here.
Cheers

Sorry. i seen
Any battery problem?
The Rom is stable and fast but I noticed that the sound in the Rom "TouchwizLite v2.0 Pie Edetion" is higher. Can you integrate the sound characteristics of "TouchwizLite v2.0 Pie Edetion" in Rom: "EVA OS ROM A6 Port 8.0.0". This will create an ideal rom.

Dude do you have battery problem?
The rom is smooth, fast and stable. For now, the only issue is with the Bixby version as per attached screenshot.
Try this rom soon and thanks for all the hardwork and efforts of all devs of j7 prime for continue creating a new build. You're the reason why our j7 prime still hot and alive!
Front flash works?

No, it won't. All you need to do is to take a nandroid back up using your custom recovery, should there be any problem, you can easily revert back to your previous rom.

Okay I understand what you meant now. I have had same problem twice, what I did was to flash Samsung stock from 7.0, and then upgrade it to stock oreo rom. I used this method bcos I couldn't lay my hands on any calibration application.
