Back to Nougut but cant flash another kernel - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

I am on oxygen oreo and now i want to go back to nougut. So i flashed the special build open beta 15 for my op3t and i was back to 7.1.1. The problem i am having is that after that whenever i am trying to flash a nougut kernel e.g. franco or derp which supports nougut my phone does not boot and all i can see a white notification light. Any idea what should i do?

Yes i am using a nougut kernel

Be sure to always use stock kernel, before flashing a custom kernel.
Even when you want to go from custom to custom.

How to roll back OP 3T from Nougat back to Marshmallow

Hi, I'm currently still running Oxygen 3.2.8 (Android 6.0.1) on my 64gb OP3 and refuse to update to the latest Nougat software because Xposed framework still does not have support for Android N and I still use some Xposed modules including Gravity Box and YouTube Backgammon Playback which I use extensively.
I recently bought a 128gb OP3T and plan to move my apps and data to that phone, but it is already updated to the latest version of Oxygen OS which is Nougat.
How can I roll back to an older ver of Oxygen OS so I can root it and install Xposed? Thanks.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
Unlock bootloader, flash TWRP and clean flash OOS 3.X.X.
It's that simple. The first two steps you would have done anyways if you intend to root.

Thanks, does the OP3T use the same ver of TWRP and stock recovery as the regular OP3? I assume the ROMs are slightly different.

Stock roms are different yes... But aosp and other roms are unified now..
For op3t stick to official version from twrp site..

OxygenOS Open Beta 39 for the OnePlus 3

"Hey everyone,
Here are the latest open beta builds for OnePlus 3 and 3T.
Release notes
Launcher
Improved search tags in App drawer
Added "New installs" category tag in App drawer
Improved app list for hidden space and toolbox
Camera
Optimized switching between front and rear camera
Multimedia
Added capability to scrub/seek through AAC audio file timelines
Please keep in mind that this is beta software. These builds are sometimes not as stable as our official OTAs generally are. By installing this update, you accept the potential risks.
And please remember to tell us about any bugs you may find using the bug report forums, found here. https://forums.oneplus.com/feedback/
Please note:
If you have already flashed an Open Beta (you are currently running the latest Open Beta) you will receive this new build as an OTA.
If you are not running open beta software and would like to, please refer to the flashing instructions and the full ROM found on the downloads page here: http://downloads.oneplus.com/ (requires full data wipe before updating from stable to open beta)
Once you migrate to the Beta path, you will continue to receive Open Beta OTAs. You will no longer receive the regular Official Stable OTAs.
Moving back to the Official OTA path from the Beta path will require a full install and clean flash (FULL WIPE of all data and cache)
Please note that this is the last open beta for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, we will provide a stable version of OnePlus 3/3T for beta testers to migrate back to stable version of OxygenOS later this month to ensure beta testers will receive regular Android security patch update and so on.
Make sure to let us know how you feel about the beta builds here in the thread too, we are watching."

As usual you people are so quick. Thanks a lot.
And Oxygen so slow...
On OnePlus site 04.07.2017. On the zip file 27.06.2017, like ob from Hydrogen OS..
Works Fine!
I did a full wipe, clean flash. Reflash Twrp 3.1.1.38 by eng stk. On a second reboot to system, phone goes back to stock recovery.
I reflash recovery from laptop with ADB in Fastboot. All good.

So they're supposed to release immediately without testing the builds, stop being a noob
Does bootloader needs to be unlocked to sideload update from stock recovery ?
Do I have to turn on USB debugging ?
I'm on stock 4.1.6, with locked bootloader, want to go to beta builds.
Don't shoot me for this noob question, I just own a op3 for 2 days....

Anyone having trouble re-rooting op3 after this update? Latest supersu fails to install on twrp after I flashed this update.

I am not sure how your flashing steps are but what I do when flashing oxygen os is usually flashing twrp img right after flashing oxygen os, then reboot to recovery, finally reboot to system. This way i never lose TWRP.
On a second reboot to system you will loose twrp. Stock recovery takes over.
Yes, after flashing the rom i reflash twrp. This happen on H2o ob16 & Oos ob19
I reflash twrp from laptop. Reboot to recovery, NOT to system !

Open beta and official

So, what's the difference between open beta and official? Like, if I flash open beta firmware/modem on RR, but decide to flash back to official firmware/modem....would their be any issues?

Haha. Even open beta is official. Bt people only call stable ones official. Official means the one provided by the oem so open beta and stable both are official as they are both provided by one plus themselves . Don't get confused by others.
When u r flashing CUSTOM ROMS LIKE rr always flash latest open bera firmwares
There is no problem if u want to go back to stock rom from a custom rom just don't forget to do a clean flash ok

If you flash oreo firmware you cant flash nougat rom until you flash nougat firmware back. You end up with error 7 in twrp.

Right, buuut...if I replace the modem within the nougat flashable zip with the modem from Oreo, it WILL flash without messing with firmware with a nougat rom

Don't try RR Luis yet, it has CPU issue on latest build. Wait or flash another latest rom from redmi 4x channel.
Or if you really wanna try, then after flashing latest build, flash boot.img from 02 October build, then change your governor to alucard on both cluster.

99% function but 1% not. Stock is best but if you're bored, back up with TWRP and try GSI
descendant rom works great... No issues on my side... all the gestures that comes with the rom made me forget about Moto actions..not to long i Installed "Dolby" it made me forget about going back to stock... Battery wise is almost like stock, the first day flashing the rom was ok, after a week of using it's pretty good...

Unofficial TWRP works for Gapps. Official TWRP doesn't. It's been broken for 6 months
Currently on Moto g6 stock Android 9.0. Is it not possible to flash after rooting on pie ? Also is the ROM daily driver material ? Does VOLTE work also ?

Most GSI requires Oreo base. Since u have PIE, you're limited to phh AOSP v108, Octopus latest, AEX official, Descendant 1.5 or 2.1 made by the Real John Galt avail. on Telegram for G6 (2.0 needs Oreo). VOLTE generally doesn't work on GSI--just 4G. If u need VOLTE, stay on stock Oreo or PIE. RR7 disallows SD card (int/ext) access but works on PIE base

HueyT. Have tried just about every possible way of installing RR on Moto G6. The last attempt was to completely wipe phone(format, and all directories deleted.). Flashed AOSP 9 PHH treble. It booted properly. Completed "basic setup" then after brought to home screen, powered down. Rebooted into FastBoot. Dirty flashed RR 9 from official download site, and it never passes boot screen. Have left the device for over 30 minutes. Any help would be appreciated!

RR7 has broken SD card (int/ext) access so can't download anything or any apps or take any photos. Thus, get Oreo vendors and flash RR6.1 and be done with it

There are several GSI's flashable off of PIE vendors: pHH AOSP v111, Descendant AOSP v2.1 (John Galt has customized it to G6 on our Telegram group with Gapps built-in, but GSI vanilla version listed here will work also), AEX official 6.1, Octopus 11/18, PixelExperience 8/2018 version, LOS16, DotOS and Syberia by Nfound on Android File Host) are those that I can cofirm work on PIE vendors.
The other GSI's are best installed on top of stock Oreo vendors.
Most GSIs, VOLTE does NOT work (just 4G data) and PLAY Store is NOT certified (except John Galt's version as it's customized for our G6). Most Play Store needs Device ID apk to get GSF value to manually register your phone before Play store will work.
