I've got the 6 tab "HTC Homescreen" plugin installed on my AT&T Tilt.
Upon installation it included "Ringer Mode Selection" as one of the (9) launcher items. I accidentally removed it and now want to add it back, but when I attempt to re-assign it in the launcher, it doesn't appear in the app programs selection assignment list.
This launcher item is the one which allows you change the phone "ringer status" (on, off, vibrate, auto), and displays four ringer status boxes (icons) to select from. This item also displays & allows you to change the default ringtone sound.
How can I can get the phone "ringer status" selection item to appear in my launcher list again?
Thanks
Jazz
Ringer Mode Selection is actually a HTC Homescreen TAB
Thanks to Kavi's help via PM, I found the answer:
'Ringer Mode Selection' is actually one of the six HomeScreen TABS (Profile Tab), and not a launcher item as I mistakenly thought. I've now got the Profile (ringer mode selection) TAB back via HTC Home Customizer.

Umm just a word of caution if you use that tab and use calendar reminders. There is definitely some flakiness in the interaction between those 2 functions.
E.g. if you use calendar and have have events chime in to remind you of those events, then switch to slent or vibrate, sometimes those reminders will get shut off and wont ring even after you switch back to ring mode.
This has been a known proven issue for some time with the HTC Home app's "profiles" tab functionality. I thought it was fixed on the Kaiser, but I now know that it is still an issue. Its an issue with how it manages notifications in the WM database.
If you don't care about notifications, then it doesn't matter. But if you do, beware that sometimes you won't get your reminder notice or sound even if you switch back to ring profile after using the silent or vibrate profiles for even a short while.
I've since removed that tab from my HTC Home via the HTC Home Customizer app, and only use the Comm Mgr "Ring/Vibrate" toggle to make the switch back and forth. It works without causing the same issue above. A couple more presses, but nothing compared to missing meetings cuz the reminder doesn't fire.
Profile Tab (ringer settings) - "Sound: Automatic"
Jomo25, thanks for the heads up about the possible conflict with profile (ringer status) tab & calender reminders.
That said, can somebody tell me what the far right most 'ringer setting' called:
Sound: Automatic is supposed to do? Thanks.

Nice! So that is why that happens I could never quite place it when it happens once and a great while.
Know of any other good "touch based/home screen" profile selector?

If you have an appointment in the calender it will automaticly switch to vibrate.
bolasz: ahhhhhhhhhhh . . . . thanks

Advance apologies if this has been asked and answered. I am running continuum 4.1 on captivate. I would like to have multiple ring profiles in addition to "silent". For example sometimes I would like to ring on phone only and other times vibrate only or no ring and no vibrate. Can anyone point me towards a solution?
Thanks,
quielo
i don't have an answer for you, but you could just use the shortcut in the notification pull down. It would probably take you about the same amount of time to switch a profile as it would to select silence or vibrate whenever you want.
Yes, download the Simple Sound Profile app from the market. Its free and it lets you create several ringer/notification profiles that you can then select from the home screen widget. Works great and does exactly what you're looking for.
I never really understood why this isn't included in Android. I was previously a long time nokia user and you could crate as many ringer profiles as you wanted on those.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Device: Pebble Time
Goal:
No Bluetooth connection
Start a repeating timer (vibrate every 5mins)
By shortcut button (ie. Long press up)
Without leaving the watchface
Stop by same method.
Anyone have an Idea how to do this?
The only way I can think of is using Tasker (needs bluetooth) or using a timer app (leaves watchface to go to app).
Any help is much appreciated
Pebble Cloud would make adding this function easy. They have great examples and tutorials. That would be one way to add this.
Your idea about tasker would work also, you would need to start a timer, alert, restart timer, stop timer if pebble connects.
Message me if you are interested in Pebble Cloud, I can send you a zip of the basic time date weather battery bluetooth disconnect layout to get started. It's actually a lot of fun to write your own watch face!
Hiho,
I´m new to Tasker and found a lot of good ideas and solutions here, so I thought it could be the right place for my question
I have two intent profiles, one listens for song infos, one for play/pause. As there is a new intent, the corresponding task updates the variables (to global ones), and if the overlay scene is active, it destroys the scene and creates a new one, which is updated with the new song information.
I got it to work as a Tasker project, have all code within the project. The exported App however does not update on intent receive, it shows the information from the moment the app was created.
For the ones who are interested, here´s what my app does: it creates an transparent foldable overlay with swipe gestures to have access to Spotify play, next.. and Volume +/-. Best way to operate while Google Maps is running. In the corner, it shows the track information, to see what I am listening to at the moment. One gesture closes the overlay and shows a small button I can move, I can do some input and then reopen the overlay easily.
Next I want to add is a gesture to dump the track information to a text file or notepad, so I can listen to unknown playlists and mark favorite tracks easily while driving. I also want to add a gesture which closes actual audio app and opens another one and autostarts it (to switch f.e. from Spotiy to Podcast Addict).
I have the Ring Doorbell Pro and am generally happy with its performance. I also just mounted an older Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 on the wall, as a hub for my various home automation lights, switches, etc..
I am trying to get the Ring Doorbell app to open when there is a ring, or motion is detected, to show the image from the Ring's camera for 40 seconds, then to close and return to the tablet's Home page.
I purchased Tasker, but unfortunately, my recipe is not working well at all. Here is what I have as a Tasker profile:
The trigger is a Ring app Notification when either a ring or motion is detected.
1. Open Ring app
2. Wait 41 seconds
3. Go Home
This works sometimes, but most of the time it either does not open the app, or it does not close the Ring camera-view window, or it does not go to the Home page, but stays on the Ring app's list view of events.
Has anyone done what I am trying to do and how did they do it? Any other suggestions?
I also have a Smartthings hub, if this would help in anyway. And Amazon Echo
Thanks!

Thanks! I did it, restarted tasker and the notification trigger worked several times in a row.
But it still fails to close the camera window, or to Go Home
Anyone with a Ring Doorbell who has achieved the task of bringing up the view window to the front for 40 seconds (the standard recording duration of Ring), and then closing it and returning to the Home screen?
So, does this mean that Tasker is unable to reliably bring an app to the front for 40 seconds, then close it?
Bump! Interested as well..
I suggest checking two things:
1. Instead of just going home, try killing the app
2. Double check the priorities of actions and set the task to abort existing tasks

have you looked into using IFTTT? there are ring recipes on there
To the OP. Did you ever get this to work?
I am trying the same thing with tasker, but tasker is new to me so im not sure how exactly to set this up. Are you able to assist?
Bump! Anyone have luck with this?
So far I have tasker doing the following on my wall mounted tablet near the front door upon receiving a Ring doorbell notification (motion or door bell):
Screen unlock
Secure settings > wake (screen & keyboard lights on 4 seconds)
Launch app > Ring
Wait 30 seconds
Go Home
All the tasks trigger except the wait for 30 seconds. Tasker ends up going home before the ring camera fires up and displays on the screen. This also has the unfortunate side effect of locking the ring doorbell and I have to manually go into the app and click the red hang up icon to “release” the doorbell. Any ideas on how to solve for the wait issue AND to gracefully close the Ring app after 40 seconds?
Thanks.
Me Too
I'm also trying to do the same thing with an old Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet so also very interested if someone has figured out how to get this to work.
Couple of additional questions:
1. If you have a wall mounted tablet how are you dealing with RING app wanting to run in Portrait mode only for navigation but landscape mode only for Live View
2. How to hve RING app immediately go to live camera via as right now I have to go from RING menu to Front Door and then Live View when motion is detected or click on notification if doorbell is rung. My goal is to be able to do what Amazon Echo Show can do which is give a voice command to Tablet .. "Show Front Door"
RING App combined with TASKER and/or IFTTT on an Android Tablet set-up as a KIOSK have a lot of potential if these issue can be resolved.
THanks,
Chris

Ring Doorbell automation with Tasker, Notification Listener and Rotation Controller
I have forced my RING App to run in Landscape Mode with an app called "Rotation Controller".
To have the RING App go directly to the live cam when the doorbell is rung, you can use the Tasker Plugin "Notification Listener" and make Tasker click on the notification as soon as it pops up. This makes the device switch directly to the camera view instead of the Ring App Homescreen.
This works fine so far, BUT yet I have found no way to close the camera view after a few seconds automatically. I can´t use the tasker "kill app" command, since my Xido X111 android device is not rootable. The "go home" command would bring up the home screen, but the camera window is still running in the background and thus blocking the doorbell until the hang-up symbol is clicked manually.
Any ideas how to close the camera view somehow on an unrooted device?

If you can access your tablet with ADB to do the set-up, look into AutoTools/AutoInput
"Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment." - Will Rogers
AutoInput Point click didn‘t work for me, because the ring app doesn‘t seem to support accessibility from other apps (or maybe i was just too incompetent) BUT i found a very easy solution: after tasker fires up the ring camera and waits for x seconds, i let it just load the ring app again with the toggle „always start new copy“. This doesn‘t kill the ring app, but at least kills the camera screen and therefore prevent the doorbell from locking up. Now it just works as i wanted

You need the additional Tasker Plugin "Notification Listener" and make Tasker click on the notification as soon as it pops up. To close the camera screen after a few seconds, you just load the ring app again with tasker (don´t forget the toggle „always start new copy“).

"Profile" is the event that triggers something. In our case this is the notification from the ring app. you can choose "Notification Listener Event -> Posted Apps -> Ring App" for that.
"Task" are the actions which are triggered by the Profile Event (click on the notification to open the camera screen, wait x Seconds, close the camera by opening the ring app again):
1. Plugin>Gestures>Configuration>Notification Key: %nlkey
2. wait>45 Seconds
3. Launch App>Ring
you don´t need the "if"
I got it working!! thanks alot
Hi.
I've got all necessary programs (first time I bought something from play store) but can't get it to work.
Part with :"Plugin>Gestures>Configuration>Notification Key: %nlkey"
does not work.
How to get it to work?
