Usb Port Fix - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

Hello, I think i have a issue wih a usb port. Have somebody found or have maby a tutorial how to change it? Because i dont want to make it without any knowledge but cant find any video :/

What exactly is wrong with it?

Hello,
In the ifixit Repairability Assessment (I can't post url's, just search ifixit Mi5), in step 6, you can find the PCB that contains the USB port. You'll have to swap it (the board it's sold for about 10$).
Hope it helps.

Just look up a tutorial on how to disassemble the device on YouTube like i did and you have to purchase a USB port flex ribbon cable

tytn2 usb contact question.

Hi, hope someone can check.
Is it supposed to be a "block" or separator between the pins in the USB contact on the tytn2 ? or is it just "stand alone" out from the device ?
like
pin 1-4
separator/block
pin 5-11
?
pinout
I think this might help:

i found out, someone sendt me a picture from the usb contact.
seems i'm missing a plastic "block"/"separator" in the center of the contact.
I only have the pins sticking out from the device.
i've seen a DIY guide to change here on XDA, just need to find it again

[Q] Hardware UART and charging cable pinout?

I think it would be fun to try to interface some external hardware to the NC. A serial port would make this much easier.
Has anyone discovered any serial lines on the PCB? I've searched quite a bit on the forum and not found anything. Perhaps some of the GSM or 802.11 module lines are connected to a UART?
Thanks,
DC

[Q] HTC serial cable from ExtUSB-3.5mm converter ?

Hi all,
I have started the long process to "hopefully" de-brick my G1. I have a question though, I have the HTC ExtUSB-3.5mm converter, so I know I can use it for the serial cable, the problem is I don't know which wire connects to which pin, could someone possibly help me with that ?
Fwiw, here's a low-res photo of my cable : (Can't put outside link since this is my first post)

I can provide a higher-res version later if needed, I just don't have the good camera right now.
OK, I was able to identify the wires by breaking the 3.5mm jack open. There's a small labeled board inside. I'll post pictures soon when I have the camera.

[Q]Howto connect the i9000 to the pc screen?

Hi guys,
been a passive viewer in the xda forums for a long time but never posted anything, so be easy on me - It's my first.
I would like to connect my galaxy s i9000 to the pc screen.
I know there's the TV out option, but it involves a 3.5" to RCA cable, and pc screens don't have RCA jacks.
Does anyone know of a way to do this? and if you know what kind of cable is required that will be great.
I'm using the CM9 rom, build 17 from theam hacksung.
Just to clarify, I want to connect to phone to the PC so I can view the phone on the PC screen.
Thanks in advance
Short answer is you can't.
Longer answer is you might.
Your monitor doesn't have RCA connectors but if you have a tuner installed inside your PC, you might be able to connect it to that and then use the software that came with the tuner to display it onto your monitor.
Another method would be to use a RCA to whatever input your display has converter but they are are usually pricey and after a search for RCA to HDMI/VGA/DVI I don't think they really exist.
Even if there was a 3.5mm to HDMI/VGA/DVI cable, it wouldn't work unless the display was designed to take a PAL or NTSC signal through those types of connections.
With cm9, you need to have 3.5mm to RCA cable plugged in then go into System Settings>Advanced>TV Out. The option is greyed out when no 3.5mm to RCA cable is plugged in and the option has to be checked every time you plug the cable in.
Thanks for the reply,
I knew about the tv-out option, but didn't think about using a tuner - that might work!
Another question, do you think that a micro usb - hdmi cable might work?
I saw a while back that samsung offered such a cable that was designed for that purpose exactly.
I've searched a lot of forums but havn't got a clear answer if this actually works, not have I seen a youtube video demonstrating this.
Does anyone know if using a micro usb - hdmi cable wokrs?

Do you know what tuner you have? I'm not sure if yours will have it but there will be a yellow plug like the ones you find on a TV.
I'm %99.9 sure that the I9000 doesn't have HDMI out through USB. It would seem a bit excessive to have two video out ports. Although you did spark an interesting subject, if someone could whip together drivers to work with something like this we could potentially have HDMI through USB but I don't see it happening any time soon.
