Hi. I recently got a Huawei P10 VTR-L29, european version C432, but I didn't receive any updates so far and I'm still stuck on B151. Tried to contact Huawei Support, but haven't got any response. Is there sonething I can do, like rebranding my phone to another european country like Germany (mine is purchased in Romania) or do something to be able to receive the B171 update for my region?
Use "firmware finder" from Google play.

If you dont want to take the risk, just wait for the offical F/W, if none , stick with the present one, only the official OTA is risk free.

It is not risky, firmware finder updates via OTA too. I always update using this. It is not like flashing custom ROM then just brick your device. It is safe

Yeah you're right, I already used it to update my P10 to B179 and it's working good so far. But will I be able to get OTA updates officially or I'll have to use Firmware Finder every time?
You will get them officialy via OTA

Did you try to check first if the firmware is approved or not? I often update my P10 with firmware finder. Plays Store show my phone is certified.
Maybe try clearing your pkay store data and pkay services data, that might help you.

This happens sometimes after upgrades. If you google it you can find several possible solutions.

I have tried it and it works perfectly for my Huawei P9 EVA-L09C636B190. I think this method will work on ANY model of P9, any region.
I'm now on EVA-L09C636B320. With everything normal. No development version. I think it is offical. Now im trying to update to B361 with the same method.
Here's what you need:
Huawei Hisuit
Huawei firmware finder
Huawei updater
First, make sure your P9 is updated to the latest EMUI 4.1.1, then use the firmware finder, simply choose the 'common database', and enter your model number, such as 'EVA-L09C636', then click 'update' of the first version of B3xx, but dont download it.
Try to copy the download link 'http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1256/g104/v73968/f1/full/update.zip'
And delete everything after 'f1' make it like this ''http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1256/g104/v73968/f1'
Then you can use the method in this thread

And enjoy your new Android.

Hello there, I did every step mentioned by OP here and did the steps detailed in the linked post. Everything is going fine, firmware is downloading and if I'm lucky it will finish doing it in about 3 or 4 hours (yes, ****ty conection). Anyways, Firmware Finder found this EVA-L09C605B360 and I'm currently on EVA-L09C605B135 I can clearly see that it may work and have Nougat by the end of this day that but I'm concerned about this method and its safety; is it safe, can I trust in FF? Am I doing any damage or restricting this phone's future capability to receive OTAs? Like I said I got plenty of time to stop the update process if in any case my phone is going to be bricked or dead by flashing lol
I'm expecting your answers or experiences
Cheers.

Unfortunately I'm not sure if OTA works or not. Because there's still no official update through OTA.
But the update for me works fine, no bugs found currently.

So that means if OTAs don't work we will have to update following the same procedure we followed here to update to a more recent compilation/version of the ROM? Thanks for answering!

No you'll have to rebrand your phone first if you want that. This involves unlocking your bootloader, which Huawei doesn't support anymore.

No root, locked bootloader. For some reason Huawei /Honor devices are very easy to brick. For now quite happy with Oreo and not under pressure about 9.0 as it's on the way
I downloaded this and tried to install it but it failed instantly on installing using the dload method. I usually flash with a fat32 sdcard but the firmware file is too large so i tried with exFat i'm not sure if this is the correct format?

Maybe you can update manually with this app: Huawei Firmware Finder (Play Store)
More info on this thread.
With this app you can find new updates that have been released for your model and you can either download it to flash it manually or set a VPN to change your country and force the System Update app to show the update.

Guides is all available in Guide and News section or ROM n kernel section here in P20 Pro subforum,
its 99,9% safe. 0,1% is when people messed things up, like not having enough battery when flashing, unplugged the cable during process, or carelessly use wrong file version.
been doing manual update from EMUI 8 .103 up to EMUI 9 .168 , thats around 5 to 7 updates if am not mistaken,
with all userdata still intact from the first update.
I have a last question..
After installing update via OTG flashdisk, do you think my phone will go on receiving regular OTA updates?
I am with locked bootloader.
I have updated my p20 pro to pie via SD card.
Now, is it possible to return to official oreo without unlocking bootloader..
Thanks
