Some questions before purchasing t719 or t715? - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello looking at getting either the t719 or t715. Which one is best between the 2 please?. Also how long does it take to charge the tablet and does it also have adaptable storage to move all apps to sd card please?

The T715 has the Exynos CPU and therefore supports TV out and has a good GPU.
The T719 has the SD652 and is a bit faster than Exynos but this comes at the expense of TV out and the GPU is slightly weaker. Unless your a gamer, get the SD version if they are the same price.
Battery on both isn't great as its so small at 4000Mah but these tablets are the lightest you can buy.
Can't answer your other questions.

Hello many thanks and how about fast charging? How long does it take to charge these up please? So the T715 is the only version with TV out?

It doesn't support fast charging but the small 4000mah battery doesn't take that long to charge. The models that support TV out are the 2015 models with the Exynos SoC which are 8", 710, 715 & 9.7", 810, 815.

[Q] Interesting phone

Hi, I'm leaving my garbage Xperia Sola after 2 years of blood cry because of its horrible SoC, its horrible software and his horrible support. Now I'm very interested in buying this new Moto G 2014. I ha ve some question for people more expert than me.
1) Do you know when it is going to be released in Italy?
2) What are the pros of this phone (other then price)?
3) Which features are a little economic or can create some troubles?
Thank you in advance
1) It's already available.
I'll answer based on reviews...
2) Build quality, screen, camera, battery life, stock android, android l update guaranteed.
3) Speakers are kinda weak, still using Snapdragon 400 and snapdragon 410 is already available.
Thank you for answers.

Do you mean by loudness or by sound quality? In the latter case it wouldn't be a big problem for me.

Snap 400 is a reliable proc, is there some other product with about same price that use Snap 410 for comparison?

It's already available in some european stores, like amazon.
I mean by sound quality, is poor, but i didn't test it myself.
Snap 400 uses A7 cores which makes it very slow compared to other SOCs, it's fast enough for now, but in the future i'm not sure. Snap 410 already uses new A53 cores which are a lot faster, efficient and supports 64-bit. The HTC Desire 510 comes with 410.

I doubt that after Project Svelte in KitKat, they'd go back to a more cpu intensive way of operating. Android L having more animations, imo, will still be perfectly okay to run on a Snap 400, + ART Optimizations will also help. However, we can only wait and see :silly:

I hope soo... They said i'll be easier on cpu and ram with ART, that's why i ordered this phone, i didn't spent an extra 130€ on the nexus 5 because of the battery.
how is the battery life?

I know, that came from me. I think that for now we have to wait the Android L generation to know which phone is old and which is not; and usually my phones' life is of 2yrs or more, so I have to avoid to buy a phone and maybe 6 months later 1GB of ram become a ridiculous amount. I bought in 2011 a 512MB RAM phone, and now i have lots of troubles with it.
Let's see the price of Z1C at Christmas, when z3C will be already released.
I'm looking for a device to test android. I'm an iPhone user but always wanted to try the android world.
The other phones (htc m8, galaxy S5, xperia Z2) are too expensive in my country (damn taxes) and the low range devices are too underpowered and don't have a SD expansion (important to me).
I want a mid range phone to taste and if I decide to move to android I'll wait the Android L generation phones.
I don't play any games besides angry birds and boom beach. I do listen a lot of music (car Bluetooth) and GPS navigation (waze)
Maybe is the Moto G a good cost-benefit device?
I got mine yesterday. Performs just as well if not slightly faster than my NEXUS 4 (in terms of responsiveness). Limited memory can be a problem if you run multiple (memory intensive) apps simultaneously. When I run facebook app and chrome, it'll sometimes kick FB off memory, but it takes 2 sec to reload so not a big deal for me. Speakers are decent IMO. They are loud and distort at high volume, but knocking the volume down 2-3 steps help. Screen quality is very good and the gamut is similar to TV standard (~72% NTSC from what I can tell). The only quibble I found is stiffness of the buttons.
If you have any questions feel free to ask.
PS: I prefer SP 400 cos A7 is still more efficient than Cortex-A53. Also, ART should boost performance even further. I only wish the new Moto had 1.5 GB of RAM instead of 1.

Why are you comparing a 179$ phone with a 400$ phone? I don't understand why a lot of people compare a less than 200$ phone with a 400$ phone.
You should compare the new Moto X with Xperia Z1C, then it would be a fair comparison.

Exynos performance with GearVR?

Hi,
I just got my Gear VR and need to get an Note 4
Seeing as Samsung has finally made Exynos work with the Gear VR, I'm interested in the performance differences if any?
Before I bite the bullet and get one I'd love to see some feedback (also Exynos is much more readily available in my country).
I'm also curious about the thermal throttling on both.
Thanks!

The only issues you are going to run into are app-incompabilties, as there are quite a few apps that don't work on the exynos note 4. Haven't run into any performance issues, but then again I haven't yet been able to test it out on a snapdragon variant.

Thanks, good to have some feedback.
How long can you use it before it starts to overheat?
AFAIK Exynos should also run into thermal throttling earlier and more severe.

What makes you think that the Exynos would throttle faster? Based on the old s805 vs Exynos 5433 thread I think the exact opposite is true. Haven't run into any overheating warnings on my Gear VR since KK. Recommend getting a second battery with an external charger though as the Gear VR likes to eat battery for breakfast, lunch and supper.
Note 4 with Exynos seems to lag severely when streaming on chromecast, inside the VR everything is smooth but on the TV it's about 1 frame every 5 seconds or worse..

There were side by side reviews of Exynos and Snapdragon where they also looking into throttling, Exynos was by far worse.
I'll see if I can dig up the review.

Well we should not to open another can of worms and just agree that we don't have enough evidence to prove either argument (depends on so many different factors). Personally though I haven't seen any overheating on my Exynos 5433 when using the Gear VR and that is all I know. :highfive:
Also not sure how the support is going to be for the s805 in the future, as all of the S6s have exynos SoCs so there are a lot more of those (insane amount really).

Haven't tried them all, but Matterport has issues, Paul McCartney and NextVR (Coldplay) don't work, etc. So at this point the s805 is better supported by far, but at the same time we have no idea if the S6 with its Gear VR is going to change that.

Difference Between Snapdragon and Exynos on the Galaxy Note 9

I used my wife's Note 9 (Snapdragon - ATT ) and ran ANTUTU Benchmarks for grins and giggles and the phone got a score of about 284,000 - very respectable.
When I received my N960F - a Note 9 from Clove in the UK, I ran the same Benchmark from ANTUTU and the best score I could get was 236,000 - a HUGE difference.
I really expected more parity between those phones and wonder why there is such a big difference? Is the Exynos Process that far behond Snapdragon's latest?
(I know these benchmarks don't mean much - but just the same, after spending nearly a grand on this phone, I would have expected better)
Any thoughts?
same chips but on the S9. should give you an idea

great question but I haven't used either long enough to really get a sense for it - On first blush, battery seems similar on both - I can easliy get thru an entire day without charging - though I find myself automatically placing my phone in my wireless charger from time to time because I have always had to - I think I can break myself of that habit though - will play around a bit more on both and see how they fair in a comparison of daily use....

Did Samsung work on the kernel sources to improve the Exynos 9810's efficiency and performance to be on par with Snapdragon 845 ?
The answer is "NO".
Looks like the the tides have turned recently in favor of the snapdragon chipset.

Could the Exynos 9810 be better in the s9/s9+/Note 9? - Probably to an extent working on the kernel but would still be behind the SD.

Snapdragon Note 9 : Will Allow you to Play FASTER Gamecube/Wii/PSP Emulation. But Will not allow you to install custom roms or root your device.
Exynos Note : Will not play gamecube/Wii Games Smoothly but will allow you to install custom rom.
Personally if I didn't want Wii/Gamecube emulation, I would have easily bought exynos.
Ok in synthetic benchmarks such as antutu the 845 gets a higher score because of the better graphics processor. When it comes to the cpu side of things the 9810 is at least as good and sometimes better.

dolphin emulation on both chipsets recently took a massive jump forward. exynos included.
you can root on international snapdragon variants of the Note 9. I believe China has unlocked snapdragon. I've heard chit chat mentioning Canada as well, fact check these yourself tho.

Aha, but then the real world performance of the sd is far better than the exynos + it's more efficient leading to a lot better battery life + the modem is better. Then you throw in a GPU that is literally another class in a phone that potentially will be used also for gaming and this year a lot of heavy games were released with vastly different experience on the two variants (last year samsung got a free pass on their lossy g71 mp20 as no heavy games released, not the case this year and it's shaping more to release frequently in the future).
g72 mp18 can't even come close to the PREVIOUS year sd 835 in real world gaming. sd 845 benefits heavily from the note 9 cooling as it had some thermal restrictions and sustain performance was close to the sd 835 one (still far better than g72 mp18 sustain for both snapdragons), while the mali GPU doesn't benefit that much from the new cooling, the GPU is just slow.
In Europe we actually pay more for that phone, 1000 euros are not equal to 1000 us dollars, all that while we get a SOC that is between midrange and highend instead of the highend one that is for the US market. Previous years the exynos was better (galaxy s7 for example), but the difference between the two variants were never that big as this year.
Edit: check the other real world benchmarks like pcmark, browser benchmarks and so on - the sd variant wipes the floor with the exynos. Still, benches are not all, sadly the real world difference is also there and noticeable.
Again if you look at the geek bench scores for cpu (android central, did a comparison) the cpu side of the exynos 9810 outperformed the 845. I would agree when factoring in the 845 graphics the overall score of the 845 is better. Again you would be VERY hard pressed to notice the difference in the real world. And there is zero lag on either of these variants I found.
I know people in the industry and alot of the perceived difference is due to the scheduler for the 9810 not being as optimised as for the 845. Rule on the street is that Sammy will redress this soon with an update.
Also the woolfson DAC on the exynos provides a better quality audio experience and fuller sound stage than that of the aqstic DAC on the 845.
Again the difference is slim. I've noticed zero lag even on fortnite.
Reast assured both chips ate brutes. After all both the 845 and 9810 are currently fabricated/manufactured by samsung.

It's a lot more complicated than a simple scheduler and if it was going to be fixed, it was going to be fixed for the note 9 launch as it's a good few months from the s9/s9+ release with the same SOC (that is a lot in the fast moving forward mobile industry). Most likely they won't do any improvements even in future major android releases. Geekbench score is peak performance on burst load tasks, it's not counting task migrations, frequency scaling, cores hotpluging and so on. There are good articles for the 9810 in anandtech, how it can be improved, why it can not be improved beyond given point, but they are kinda techy and not easy to read if you are not into it.
tl:dr The CPU cores are great, but has some flaws and everything around them is sh*t (sorry for my language, but yeah). The DAC is great tho, this is totally true.
For the GPU part there are a lot of materials about adreno 630 vs g72 mp18 with actual stats like max fps, min fps, FPS stability and so on. Fortnite will run ok, but on the sd845 it can run maxed out fluently (for the most part). Also when one spend 1000 euro, he should think about future proving and gaming is moving fast forward this year. If you game on your phone, it's kinda a bummer to settle for lower GFX settings on one of the most expensive phones this year, if you want smooth experience.
Not saying the exynos is super bad, it's not, but it's not on par with the sd845.
Again you would be hard pressed to notice the difference. Both variants are perfectly fine so everyone buy either with confidence.
It's not true, marvel strike force is unplayable on exynos version
9810 user here and i have to limit the exynos speed for it to get to a day. This sucks. I paid usd1000 but need to turn pn battery saver every morning
No rows written here reflect the reality. Just snapdragon users happy with their chipset. Another report on the S9 test that is outdated. The smallest SOT with exynos is 7h with only mobile data. Who does not know how to use an android or uses it as a playstation is his job. For a normal user it's great.

I don't even have to do that with my Note 8. You can likely squeeze more out of it, but a lot depends on usage patterns of course.

Exynos vs Snapdragon Battery Advert

Just noticed how the battery is advertised on the american samsung site as: "All-Day Intelligent Battery to keep you going dawn to dusk"
On the UK site it's advertised as "Intelligent battery that keeps you in charge when it matters most"
I hope this isnt a repeat of the issues with the S9/Note 9.
Has anyone found any comparisons of the chipsets yet or have concerns?
Seen one promising battery drain test by MrWhosTheBoss but nothing else
Benchmarks seem to favor the snapdragon again (apart from the single core Mongoose performance, as before)
7nm vs 8nm. I'm under the impression that the smaller process is accompanied by efficiency gains, just saying. Andreif did various tests on the QRD 855, and it showed some promising results. I personally expect the S10+ (855) to break some records.

Agreed.
Smaller process AND A76 vs A75 ARM performance cores. Hope its not as severe a difference as it was on the S9 and they improve their scheduler and power managment..

Honestly I think I will see no real difference for my normal use. No gaming.
What i am interested in is the comparison in battery life. I would say SD would be better here.

2k screen, wireless charging, better cameras
Unfortunately it's more than hardware that determines this. Hopefully they communicate with the buyers more and update the OS quickly and frequently. If Asus is smart they'll send developer phones and work with the mod community like they're doing for the Zenfone 6. Unfortunately while there are plenty of examples of what to do to get loyal customers and brand evangelists most refuse to do the usually simple things required to achieve this.

i really like this phone, i am a fan of bug battery phones, i own a lenovo p2 and i can't see a real replacement to buy, i don't want to buy a 4000mah phone but at least 5 or 6000k mah and THIS ROG phone seems to be the best flashship ever created, not only for the rest of the spects but primarily for the BIGGEST EVER battery in a top end phone.
i know this phone is pricey and the community strenght of the previous rog phone is 0% ... no roms no kernels... but i really hope that this one will have a good community here..... because i am sick to see top phones of only 4000mah

China version 8+128GB, 500USD. Not pricey.
500USD? That’s gotta be because of the Tencent (owner of PUBG) partnership. No doubt in my mind that phone comes with some Tencent bloatware.
International version will definitely be more expensive though, especially if the bloatware’s not on it.
I heard they are also working on a stock android version reminds me of the Google Play Edition phones.

Some hardware reduce (China have 2 phone version 8GB/128GB vs 12GB/512GB )
Wireless mimo NO
HDR chip to convert SDR NO ------ ASUS website deleted when selling
Cooling fan NO
30W power supplier NO (Phone still support i think)
Rumor: Different screen vendor ------ Wrong

I don’t think the Tencent version will have the option for the Stock Android UI. Believe it’s only a Worldwide/US feature.
It comes out in a little more than a month for us.

Wish that tencent version can flash to ww/us version.
2 million pre-orders already in China so hope this helps
I'm getting it regardless. I don't think it is expected to have wireless charging, and I don't know about expandable memory. I'm hopeful.

No wireless charging. And it won’t have expandable memory on its own, but it the gaming accessories that you can get with it come with SD slots.
But I’ve never used more than 50GB on a phone and this thing packs 512GB out the box

Yeah, you should be good. 8GB RAM is still higher than the standard for flagships and 128GB is the standard at this point.
