Repairing bricked Honor 4x Che2-l12 - Honor 4x Questions & Answers

Hi guys
Tried to unlock boot loader phone did not factory reset like it said. Fastboot says it is unlocked but the phone won't let me write a custom recovery or anything to it the phone now has no recovery
Dc unlocker seems like my best option however it says "must use original Full Stock ROM that was in phone when it was purchased to have highest chance of repair." my phone is a Che2-L12 I have found the official Che2-L11 image but there is none for the Che2-L12 would the Che2-L11 image work? It is the same android version 4.4.2

What error it gives. Try unlocking it again even though it's saying it's unlocked.

If you are in kk you need to update at least to lp to play with device firmware.
What is the difference in device specification of both models?

[Q] i cant flash stock B136, Update fails at 50%

hey xda world,
first this is my first post ever on this forum and i cant hold myself of being amazed from how helpful and smart the people here,
my case is kinda hairy so bare with me
now lets get to the mess, so i got yesterday myself a p9 *EVA-L09C02B123/Vodafone*, unlocked its bootloader then installed twrp and root, after doing the process i tried to lock the bootloader because of the annoying message at the bootup, but i couldn't because of an error from fastboot {Root type is risk}.
i looked up the error around the interwebs and xda ofc, and somewhere i found that relocking can only be done if all the partitions are oem/stock, so i decided to get rid of the twrp and flashed back the default recovery from the SRK Tool and still couldnt relock it.
then i started to look for stock roms and couldn't find a stock for the L09C02, so i tried the dload B136 and it failed at 50%, knowing that oeminfo dictates which version the phone should get, i got the C432 one and flashed it using twrp, did factory reset and i noticed the vodafone boot logo being replaced by the default huawei, at this point the build became *EVA-L09C432B123* and tried the b136 dload and still no luck and failing at 50%.
please help ! :crying::crying::crying:
Welcome to xda
Does your phone still boot? And what is it you are trying to achieve right now? Relock your bootloader?

my phone does boot, and yes i want to relock for the reason i might want to sell it but having that boot message is kinda cringey for non power users.
also an update on the case, yesterday after posting this thread i downloaded an update zip from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67122856&postcount=47
then i flashed the zip using twrp and succeeded, now the version is L09C432B136 but still no luck locking the bootloader.
Possible bad download? Try downloading the whole stock rom again.
Any error messages?

this is not a fix to lock the bootloader as that is hardware level not software level. Use the tool DC-Unlocker or SRK Tools, look on the other threads under Huawei P9 and you will find these two options to lock the bootloader again. I have already done it on mine after de-branding and network unlocking my (what is now a....) EVA-L09C432B136
If you can boot and have the correct version, I'd say try a factory reset, download that full stock rom again and try flashing. I don't see why that shouldn't work. Unless there is something different hardware wise about those branded ones...
first must remove root via super su, then flash stock recovery then relock
I get a "root type is risk" when i relock with SRK Tool, any idea?

Actually AFAIA flashing the stock rom will relock the bootloader.

Help - OTA Update gave me a brick

Hey XDA,
I was rooted, unlocked and TWRP'd on I think 6.4? I realized I wanted to go back to locked and stock after seeing some of the security stuff come out. I used SPFT to flash the 6.1 Prime Rom, and everything was working great. Phone booted no problem, and seemed to work fine. I then tried to use the Wireless Update to update the phone. It looked liked it downloaded fine, but now I'm in a reboot loop, and recovery does absolutely nothing but reboot loop as well. I CAN get the phone into Fastboot mode, but fastboot flash recovery gives me a "failed to get permission" error.
I ran a getvar all, and here is what I have:
unlocked: yes
secure: yes
kernel 1k
bootloader: version-preloader 0.0.00
Version: 0.5
I've tried the SPFT tools again, but it gives me ERROR: S_BROM_DOWNLOAD_DA_FAIL.
ANY clue what I can try next to just get the dang thing to be bootable? I don't care root or recovery or what, I just want a working phone, and I'm running out of ideas.
Thanks!

don't panic. everything is as is should be in your situation.
you see when you did getvar all , it said
secure: yes.
that means it only wants to boot signed and secured partitions. Just get into fastboot and do "oem unlock".
you really cant (safely) relock the bootloader. If your boot loader was relock now, you wold be in a perminent boot loop condition not able to recover.
But you can save it with "oem unlock" from where you at now.
You rock. I thought since it said unlocked I didn't need to do it again, but that did the trick. Now I just need to figure out what to do with the phone. I wouldn't mind keeping root, but I want the B12 update.

The dirtycow thing was only needed to get to the unlocked point. He is already there, so his only issue should be the lack of sp flash tool. Until/ if he does the bootloader rollback.
Shouldn't be problem with the modded v7 to roll back either.
Because in order to install the modded version , you need to be unlocked and twrp anyway, right.?

I presume he flashed factory original 6.1 from Colton's site.
I thought flashing original rom with SPFT should result in safely relocked bootloader, why not?
What if he relocked bootloader with 'fastboot oem relock' command after flashing 6.1 but before taking 7.4.2 OTA update? This would also leave him with:
unlocked: yes
secure: yes?
There must be some way to bring phone to original factory state with bootloader locked (meaning unlocked: no secure: yes).
BLU support also cannot do this?

There is and I did it few times while testing my unlock script. Bit the chances of making a brick were so very high I cannot recommend doing it.
There are two other partitions that store the unlock state and they need to restored to really relock bootloader.
OEM relock does not work properly

Can you tell what steps you did to relock?
I really want to bring device to original factory state because encryption does not work when bootloader is unlocked. I did first dirty cow method on original 6.6 ROM (one with newer preloader), then rolled back booloader, installed 6.1 from ColtonDRG site with SPFT and finally installed vampireinfo's 7.4.2 thru TWRP.
However when I encrypted phone, in settings it says encrypted but I can browse device on PC without entering PIN.
On factory state encrypted device (with locked bootloader) I was not able to this

This will brick your phone, if you are not careful, and also if you are carefull. You can browse for help in encryption with unlocked bootloader before doing this, I'm sure there is a solution.
If you replace Seccfg.bin and Secro.bin from a backup from before unlocking bootloader you should be set to locked but I do not know of your phone will boot. You will be doing g that at your own risk.
But if you download the repair solution under the hidden tag(click to show content) in the roll back thread.
In that file it will restore you to 6.1 and it will be locked bootloader. I do not know about keeping v7 and relocked

How to fully root then it? And i need huawei p9 recovery.img too because i don't want to be with teamwin recovery..
For L19 I'm not sure where exactly to get a stock recovey image, but if you look around here you should be able to find one easy enough. Once you have one, boot into the bootloader, flash it, and then re-lock the bootloader

I have the same problem.
The thing is that I have already been able to restart in TWRP (full backup made in TWRP when I rebranded my Rogers VTR-L09 to VTR-L29).
For some unknown reason, I am now unable to restart in TWRP.
How?

I had a lot of trouble to get my code but I did not noticed how I have done it... Sorry.
For unlock I just followed the bootloader section in the rebranding guide. No different than from the other phones. Bell L09

Redmi 9C bootloop issue

hello, i have a problem with my redmi 9c
my phone just started bootloping alone, i went to sleep and i woke up with my phone dead
the phone is stock, no root, no custom recovery and still with bootloader locked because i don't need features who need it, i can access fastboot but recovery is not posible to reach because Vol+/Power is useless, the phone do nothing pressing those buttons, only with Vol-/Power, so i can't make a factory reset or wipe data, the only thing what i did a couple of hours before the phone broke was change my security pattern (i don't think it's related anyway...), and it was 8 or 10 hours before the issue. sadly the phone warranty expired in january and i have nothing to do at this moment
the phone stops the bootloop after draining the battery, with the bootloader locked of course i'm unable to flash a stock rom, even with MiFlash
what could be the problem?
thanks! (and sorry for my bad english, spanish native here)

Hi, my first guess would be faulty hardware, for example a dead motherboard.
Is there any error when attempting to flash the Stock ROM with MiFlash? Afaik you should be able to flash Stock ROMs even with locked bootloader.

Hmm okay, yeah that sounds like it's preventing you from flashing simply because your bootloader is locked.
Which Stock ROM did you try? Same as the currently installed version or an older one?

I tried with the last available rom and the previous one, automatic updates were disabled, but I know I updated the phone after buying it
I don't remember if the phone was running last version...
MiFlash should let me flash the phone with the same installed ROM even with bootloader locked?

If you tried an older firmware, it's possible that it didn't flash because of Xiaomi's "Anti-Rollback" Feature which exists to prevent users from Downgrading.
But yes, it should let you flash the same version afaik.
What Region is your Device? On Locked Bootloader you can only flash Firmwares that are from the same Region. (For example Global or EEA)

Meaning opening terminal and from there flashing all partitions one by one for example "fastboot flash boot boot.img" ?

Oh okay then.
If in the worse case nothing works, your last (paid) solution would probably be to contact one of these "Mi Auth" Guys on Telegram. They have acess to Authorized Accounts that are able to flash your Phone in EDL Mode (might need to open your phone to short test-points though)
I had to pay them about 20€ to get my old Mi 11 (which I sold a while ago) running again after it got stuck in EDL Mode. :/
