hi, i tried flashing my note 5 to nougat using SM-N920V-VZW-N920VVRS3CQK1 with Odin. when the phone starts it shows the red page with verizon logo and then an error message. initially my model number was SM-N920V and lollipop 5.1.1. But at the back of the phone its written made in vietnam. After some online reading, am thinking my phone should be a cloned version, and that's why flashing the original verizon upgrade doesn't work. which means if originally my phone is not sm-n920v, then i dont know which firmware to use. what can i do???

Hello every one here is my story
i bought G900F HongKong Version.
started the rooting method as in this Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-root-triggering-knox-2nd-method-t2843044
after reading and collecting the file, i restarted my phone to the download mode, and there i found the gateway to what seems to be a new phone nightmare.
in the download mode it show the model G900A (not G900F) the phone is brand new came with all G900F package and software. i also checked the IMEI and it show that my phone is G900F.
an hour ago i decided to go with rooting method in the above link, but odin wont flash the kernel. so i posted the issue in the above Thread, and i been told that my phone bootloader might be looked, and in this case its not G900F but instead it G900A, also i been told to search in the AT&T on how to check my boot loader status, but i could not find any clue, also google has no info on how to check my bootloader status.
Attached some photos of my phone details via Phone info app, and also attached the error from the download mode on the phone.
So fat my phone is still a live, i have not put my sim card inside yet (need to change it to nano sim first)
Thank you all
You try this @ command prompt.
getprop ro.bootloader

according to the BL screen its an G990A (which is the AT&T US model complete with Locked bootloader) but according to the other screens it seems to be a Canadian version which i believe is a W8 the baseband is ND3 which either the Canadian or U.S. model have. unfortunately it look like you may have bought brick. Try using Odin to flash everything back to Stock but Im not even sure what firmware to tell you to look for. my best guess would be to go by the Download screen and use the AT&T U.S. firmware try using this thread as a guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55133105&postcount=1

Thank you all for your replies, i talked with the seller and even he does not know how this happen, my guess it might be a refurbished phone, anyway i am returning it, and will try to get G900F European version.
I got my phone at Rent-A-Center, and got T-Mobile service on it. The phone worked fine for a while, until all of sudden I got a message:
Security Error
The phone has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support. Please note that repair/return for this issue may have additional cost.

So, I followed some instructions online, hooked my phone to the computer, and upgraded the firmware through Kies, which gave it a metroPCS ROM. I had been suspecting that someone flashed the phone before I got it from Rent-A-Center, but this really sealed it. So, I called T-Mobile, and T-Mobile tried to tell me that the phone was now locked to metroPCS and I had to call them. metroPCS said that they would not help. So, I had to do some work on it myself. I tried to find a T-Mobile compatible ROM, and before I did that I wiped the phone completely. Nothing will flash to it now, and it's in a bootloop. None of the flashes succeeded except that I was able to get a custom recovery on it. I can access TWRP and Download mode, but I can't successfully flash anything. Can I get some help?
Edit: I meant to append "Boot Looping" to the end of the title when I finished the posts body. I apologize.
Edit 2: I was finally able to get it out of the boot-loop by flashing a new bootloader, and flashing the stock ROM. However, it's back on metroPCS and still has that same message. How do I fix this?

Download Samsung Kies and try to do a firmware install by providing your model and serial number.

Flash it with the latest Metro PCS firmware, then you will have to get a unlock code from unlock base or your preferred unlocking company. After that it will work on T-Mobile and every other GSM carrier BUT you must keep the metro PCS bootloader and modem. I use a 920T with 920T1 bootloader and modem on the att network. I am running the tmobile twisted six rom + kernel with great success.

Well metro uses that unlock app also now so I'm not sure that method even works anymore these days. Also you have to make sure the bootloader number is the same or above the metro firmware your trying to flash. Bootloader number is the fifth from the last number.

This method seemed to have took place in 2015 and I even saw posts of it working in late 2016. Do you by any chance know when metropcs started using an device unlock app?

Pretty sure they started using it when marshmallow was released.
Morning there,
I've been reading all I've been able to since Monday here and also from search results in Google, but I still haven't got a clear idea if this is possible or not.
I live in UK and I've bought a new Galaxy Note 5, which I received last Saturday, the phone works fine, but it has a N920V firmware on it from Verizon US, and I want to get Android 7 on it.
Verizon hasn't updated the firmware for this phone since January this year, so no Android 7 on their network, at least I can't find any firmware on SamMobile.
I've downloaded Android 7 for it, but firmware N920C (for Turkey it seems...), I've tried to flash it with Odin v3.12.7, the phone has the FRP lock as OFF and I've gone into the developer options and turned ON usb debugging and OEM unlock, but Odin fails to flash it, I can still boot up the phone and use it as normal after Odin fails no issues, I just cannot flash it.
I don't want to root the phone, and I don't want to install any custom recovery or custom ROM either, I just want to install Android 7 and if possible have a firmware with less bloatware, hence I downloaded the N920C. I downloaded the latest N920C firmware available out of the 6 there is available, so if anyone here knows that I can use any of the other 5 and make it work I'll be happy anyway...
As always, many thanks for yourhelp in advance
Just contact me via whatsapp, and ill guide you. Because ive been pass the same problem with u.

Can you explain it here? I don't use whatsup, sorry.
I've flahsed the phone with the latest Verizon firmware from SamMobile, I tried to flash it again with the N920C but didnt work.
Now with the latest Verizon firmware it always throws me an error when I restart the phone saying that the "SIM is not from Verizon", but still works on my EE SIM, so not too worried about that.
Also, I see now a red screen with Verizon name when I restart it, something I didnt have before....
Anyone knows how to get rid of these 2 things? or better even, how to flash the N920C firmware to it?
Thanks
A few days ago, I got an update for my Samsung Note 5 (SM-N920V) which is currently running Nougat, from Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant. I tried to run the update from my laptop and the update failed. I tried to run the repair and the repair failed. The error my phone was showing was "Secure Check Fail (Radio)." My device was bricked. I tried using Kies and SmartSwitch, but still get Secure Check Fail (Radio). I tried using ODIN, but still the error would show "Secure Check Fail (Radio)" at the end of the download. After using ODIN to download just the PIT file, it's working again, but I have in the settings "Service Provider: KT twophone service" and only have CDMA option for mobile networks (no APN settings). I was previously using this on a GSM network (not one of the big names).
Does anyone know what the "Secure Check Fail (Radio)" means?
Or how to get GSM access back on the phone?
(I am not trying to root the phone, I just want the stock Verizon version back!!)

This is why you make a backup
I recently had to change my Note 4 motherboard as the previous one suddenly went off and refused to come on. On the new one, i found that the model number says N910F. However, in odin mode, it says N910T, i downloaded 6.0 firmware for N910T to upgrade the phone but it has been stuck in T-Mobile screen since then. I will attach screenshots i took before upgrading the phone to this post. Thank you
