Hi,
I've been looking for instructions and stuff for rooting my phone Honor 7 Lite (NEM-L21) but I haven't found anything. The only valuable information I discovered was that Honor 7 Lite is probably a renamed Honor 5C for an european market. Some websites said it was renamed because there were changes in hardware (for example Honor 7 Lite supposedly doesn't have a fingerprint scanner, they say - but it's not true, from my experience I can say my phone does have it). So these websites can't be trusted anyway I guess. These two models look alike but I was thinking there could be differences anyway. I don't want to brick my phone. Has anybody tried to root this phone? Can anybody provide me any information about rooting it?
I'm sorry for my poor English and thank you very much for any answer.
Hi,
I have Honor 7 Lite NEM-L21 rooted by using method for Honor 5C. But before rooting, You must have an unlocked bootloader. Steps are:
1. unlock bootloader, after unlocking bootloader, phone will be wiped, so backup your data first - http://www.modaco.com/forums/topic/...our-honor-5c-official-and-unofficial-methods/
2. install custom twrp recovery for Honor 5c (known also as Huawei Nemo and Honor 7 Lite) - https://twrp.me/devices/huaweihonor5c.html
3. after installing twrp i recommend doing backup of boot, cust, oeminfo and system partitions to SD card
4. and now is possible install SuperSU zip from twrp recovery. Some instructions on the net recommends using the SuperSU-2.65 - https://download.chainfire.eu/921/SuperSU
Big Red Warning: for now, there are no firmware released for NEM-L21 in UPDATE.APP form for reflashing the phone from the Huawei eRecovery in case of if you bricked the phone. So, please do things carefully. I strongly recommends to do point 3 ASAP after installing twrp.

Instructions for rooting Honor 7 Lite/5C NEM-L21 b100 are relatively easy to find and follow: unlock with Huawei's code, flash TWRP and SuperSu...
But for me, rooting before updating firmware was a big mistake! Wish I didn't unlock&root this phone yet; should have just updated with FF.
After rooting i wanted to FF update b100 -> b351 Nougat7/EMUI5... But it required stock recovery, which I had already flashed to TWRP, damn!
Now, another option would have been to flash custom ROM, but I didn't find great ROMs around, just somewhat commercial LineageOS (lacks e.g. dual-sim support)
Anyway, I tried to flash b100 -> b351 with TWRP, failed and ended up with test-keys firmware. Then tried to download FF, but the only input method in test-keys seemed to be google voice instead of keyboard = no success.
Then couldn't find stock recovery.img anywhere, so extracted it from stock update.app with extractor. Luckily the extractor had linux version too.
Then flashed stock recovery, updated with update.app method from test-keys to b132, then FF update to b351.
Doesn't seem possible to root b351 yet; now waiting for Nougat7/EMUI5-compatible version of TWRP.
Last time i modified some Android phone 5 years ago, so count me as n00b sharing this bad experience. Hopefully somebody could learn something
Hello everyone.
I tried rooting with the method mentioned by circulus. Running into a wall, can't get TWRP to start, only thing I get is the default EMUI recovery. Honor 7 lite, Android 6.0, EMUI 4.1.2 and bootloader is obviously unlocked.
Any ideas?

The img file is in the platform-tools folder and cmd.exe says that it succeed. But when I try to reboot to recovery its just stuck in the screen your device is unlocked and cant be trusted your device is booting now and then nothing really happens. Any solution? Firmware: Nougat 7.0 B351

No... Its stuck in the warning screen... I can still boot the system by holding power but if I attempt to reboot to recovery, its stuck in that warning. I can't access my PC just yet so it would be nice to be able to reboot to recovery without a PC.

I got a rar file of The Huawei B136 version. How can i flash it now ?
EDIT: I think my phone is bricked. Its stuck in bootloop, i cant enter recovery, because it tells me an error i have to update again and a force reset with UPDATE.app on SD-Card failed because of wrong version. tried different ones, always the same problem. But i still can enter fastboot mode.
Hi all,
I have a problem with my Huawei P8 Lite 2017.
Yesterday I forced an update with 'Huawei Firmware Updater' app from Android: I had PRA-LX1C432B170 and B172 was installed.
At the beginning it said 'Your Device has failed verification and may not work properly', but it booted after manually pressing the Power Button.
Than, trying to fix this, I messed everything up and now the phone won't boot!
Can you please help me?
I have Unlocked Bootloader, FRP Unlocked and can easily access stock recovery and fastboot and flash everything, but nothing seems to work: I tried the 'Unbrick' function from 'Huawei Multi-Tool', but the file I flashed didn't work at all... even factory reset stucks at 99%!
Can I ask you what to do?
It's impossible to find anything for Dual SIM Unbranded phones, like mine! I just can't find the original update.zip of PRA-LX1C432B170 version.
I just want to make it work again!
Thanks for your support, and Happy New Year to you all!

You can use Firmware finder app on play store to get the ROM...then use Huawei update extractor to extract the system.img ,boot.img from update.app and flash them via fastboot commands and then do a factory reset.

I tried with the Windows version of Firmware Finder, but the version I'm trying to find (B170) is unavailable.
What can I do if I can't find that specific version? I have no ideas.

Flashed system.img and boot.img in this order, but it stucks on the page of unlocked phone (Booting Phone Now...), so I booted recovery and then I did a factory reset. Nothing happens but the Huawei logo showing up for a few seconds, then it reboots.

In this case I think you damaged the Vendor partition during the force update...you can't flash (product.img, version.img,cust.img and vendor.img) via fastboot commands...you either try to use dd commands to flash them...and it's a little bit risky or you find a TWRP backup from your build...or you can use DC Phoenix tool to unbrick your device

Thanks for the useful tips!
I don't know what product.img, version.img or cust.img are used for, but cust.img can be sent through fastboot (I think so because Multi-Tool let me choose it for fastboot flash in the 'Unbrick' section).
What I'm trying to do now is to download the same version I had before (B172 FULL-OTA MF) and I try to send it via fastboot.
Any other Ideas?
Can I Install TWRP and a Custom ROM or TWRP + Original ROM?
You can try to use TWRP and a custom ROM...but as far as I know all the custom ROMs for this device have bugs...but you are free to try them
Sent from my PRA-LA1 using Tapatalk
Can try this 3 methods...
- Flash via fastboot the stock recovery, boot and system from b182, factory reset in stock recovery and try to boot.
- Install twrp in recovery2 (eRecovery), search for the b182 backup and follow the steps to restore it.
- Pay to use Dc-Phoenix (near 15€) and flash with their app a full stock rom (the app help you to download a full rom)
Good luck!

Hi All!
Thanks for your tips.
I've followed this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8...uide-unbrick-huawei-p8-lite-2017-pra-t3713574
and now the phone boot and works, but I have some problems:
1. Firmware says P9 Lite 2017 (but it's correctly a PRA-LX1 firmware)
2. Patches are from June and I can't find any firmware update... I think I have an hybrid firmware, because I have both IMEIs but something (like Google Patches) are related to the firmware of the guide I followed.
I have one question to ask: I have an unlocked bootloader and I don't want to see the message at Phone Power-On, but if I Re-Lock the phone won't boot: I had to unlock the bootloader to make it working. What can I do?
Is it possible to find an official B182 firmware and flash it into my Phone? It maybe the best/clean solution for my phone.

You can download the full backup of b182 from this forum and try to restore with twrp or extract the boot, recovery and system imgs and try to flash with adb, sorry im not english and not understand all words.

Your English is very good and the link is very useful!
Thanks, this is what I was looking for!
The idea to extract the boot, recovery and system imgs is intelligent, but the ROM of that Link seems to be rooted, so maybe it won't work at all.
I'll give it a try and I'll report back if it works or not.
Thanks for the tips

If you can flash twrp in recovery2 you can restore the full backup following the steps in the another thread, if not, find another b182 backup no-rooted and try, but i think the restore method is the best option, good luck!

Hi @dannyzamora
Restore of my phone worked and now I have a full stock phone!
I wrote a guide in the other thread to help other people who have similar problems to try to fix their phone.
Your suggestion was very helpful and now I can use my phone as it was before (apart from a bug, the only one, related to MagazineUnlock that is not working at all... nothing that compromise the use of the phone, obviously).
Thanks

The PRA can only be updated via OTA from the system. With a lot of luck, the recovery via wifi works via eRecovery.
Boot so into eRecovery:
Connect to pc, or charger, vol.- press and hold power until writing appears, then release the keys. After a few seconds the eRecovery will start.
If you didn't succeed, follow these instructions: Threadupdate: 2018-01-04

The issue lies in dm-verity (checks system integrity on boot) and maybe encryption. The problem is the only GSI guide doesnt include a fix for this problem
what firmware recovery_ramdisk do you need? what custom rom have you flashed? what twrp have you used? what customization do you have?We need more information.
p.s. you can download any firmware from teamMT web page, then use huawei extract tool to extract the recovery_ramdisk image from it.

The Flashing of the custom rom wen't wrong i think. i used twrp 3.2.0 for p10 and now i have no customization only unlocked and rooted bootloader. But now when using the huawei tool form teamMT it asks for 5 files
-System.img
-Ramdisk.img
-Cust.img
-ramdisk_recovery.img
now i can get the top 3 of those from the update.app i got from the huawei firmware finder form teamMT but i can't find the Ramdisk_recovery.img and without the i cant use the unbrick function ?
so do you guys have any clue where i can find this becease i checked the unbrick thread but the recovery file from that thread link is death ?
The thing is it keeps booting. i get the screen where you need to press power 3 sec to boot but it does not boot. i can boot the e-recovery and all but not twrp or anyting else. Also the erecovery does not do anything.
any ideas on how to fix this ?
kind regards,
Redshock
