Looked at a lot of videos online and this seem to be the best case for drop test. Plus tech 21 screen protector. I've had this phone for a little over a week. Me and my girlfriend both have the Note 8. We also have samsung care protection.
So I guess you can say we are able to be more careless. It's a 100 dollar fee for repair deduction. Anyway I've droped mine 3Xs and GF 6Xs all on hard concrete and other hard flooring. All at pocket and ear drop distance. I am 6ft myself and gf 5ft. No scratching or cracks.
Anyone else have same results? If anyone reading this decides to get both tech 21 case and screen protector. Go on ebay way cheaper. Tmobile tried charging me $100+ Tax for both smh. Got exact both on ebay for $35.
Case is sleek and can barely tell it's on. Bunch of different versions to choose from. Check out drop test here.
Case isn't as sleek as the UAG plasma but I liked that video too, so I ended up getting one. Didn't realize they were cheaper on flabby $20 vs. $34 on "sale" from best buy

Yeah haven't tried that 1 yet. My biggest concern is drop proof. UAG wins on sleekness, haven't really checked that 1 for drop test. Ebay got them used for $15 for tech21 case. Normally $40-50 new. Screen protector for $20 new.
There's more videos on youtube this one for S8 and S8+ but same case. I use to only buy temper glass. After this video and my own experiences glad I switched. Barely can tell the film is on and no bubbles.

How does the film feel compared to glass?
I've tried film before and they feel so much less smooth that it's pretty annoying.
A lot of glass protectors don't conduct well on the curved displays because the adhesive is only on the sides though

It's just right in my opinion. Film use to suck worse that's for sure. Temper glass is better at fingerprint smudges and scratches. The film is better at smoothness/sleek look and drop resistance. My gf would put her keys with phone a lot of the time. Of course that caused scratches. But that was to screen protector only. Reason I know is because she got it wet and had to take screen protector off. No scratching to screen.
The film does have scratch resistance as well. If you do decide to get film I'd suggest only this brand because they actually back it's protection claims. This Note 8 is made out of all glass so drops are definitely more serious to worry about.
Lady putting on screen film watch few times. It's of s8 but same concept. Some can't fellow directions so screwed up film. Like I said watch few times and you will be fine.
I have both the Tech21 Evo Tactical and the UAG Plasma. I am not using a screen protector or tempered glass. I like the Tech21 case, but it doesn't have the big front "lip" that the UAG case does. Does anyone have any experience with the Tech 21? Will it protect the screen when dropped?

The drop test videos earlier posts that I linked. The guy didn't have screen protector on it and screen was fine. But just to be safe I wouldn't risk it. $20 definitely worth protecting a thousand dollar phone. Just watch install video few times and you should be fine. Can barely tell it's on to be honest.
Towards the end with install video with lady she shows you what it looks like. You can barely tell it's on. Install in a clean environment! Use stickers for dust! Well lighting area. Install screen protector 1st.

Good buy. I have that as well. Kinda of extra protection another plus.

Having bought my first note and seeing as it's a pretty looking thing I was dubious about getting a case, not only because it'd ruin the aesthetics of the device but it'd make it even bigger.
That being said I did find some which keep some of the aesthetics and provide some decent protection.

Definitely. I have both and my ip6+ screen scratched from top but nothing
Happened to note4. Both devices are in seperate pockets with nothing else. Therefore what i say is definitely true in my case.
I wish I had the bold confidence of anyone that dares to go bare with this phone. I'm not taking any chances, I have a screen protector(just a cheap plastic one for now till they sort out the glass designs) and a Tech 21 case on it.
At the moment i'm awaiting my protection, I simply don't have the balls to go without, if I had to I could buy another one but I'd rather not.
Plus the case's i've picked look decent, obviously not as good as without but I'll bet it bounces better should I drop it.

Yeah, its only an $800 phone that costs a lot to fix if you drop it & shatter the screen. How silly for anyone to want to protect their expensive items from wear and damage
Overkill or not, I think it's much wiser to get a nice-looking case & a screen protector than let your expensive phone get all dinged up and look like s**t, but to each their own I guess.

If he's got money to blow then fair enough, sure I could buy another too but I'd prefer not to throw money away either.
I found with the Ringke Slim case I got scratches on the aluminium edges. Not sure if it was the phone or the case. I am now considering getting a new case but am not sure.
The neo hybrid scratched my bezel a little but, due to it being slightly loose on the edges, I have a ice Uag fits tight as hell, which you would think removing an applying it would scratch the bezel but no, no new scratches since I got the Uag case regardless of how tight the case fits. And I mean TIGHT.
Also any tempered glass screen protector that fits this new screen, without the halo effect by some of the more known and expensive brands, fit like ass.

Wow that's extremely nice. I like the the UAG cases also. But I don't have any right now. Using it with just a screen protector. I always seem to run caseless at some point with every phone I've had, typically using a case within the first 6 months or so. I seem to be going backwards with this one lol

Wirll have to see how These go on, they all get delivered today, So will find out, thank s for the heads up.
I've had my BSE screen protector for about 2 months. On the positive side the cut is very precise and if you're experience with installing wet apply protectors it's quite easy.
The material itself is a bit grippy and definitely not as smooth as dry apply protectors. Initially the self healing properties of the skin were reasonable. However after 2 months every small indentation from pressure being in a pocket remains permanent. My screen protector is now super ugly to the point friends laugh at it.
I wondered if this was normal or just unlucky that I got a defective batch. I contacted BSE and they told me it's just normal wear and tear. I was definitely a bit surprised that this is normal for 2 months of use. I've never had this with any other protector I've used.
The other factor that made me want to try this brand was there 5 star review on their site. Out of 6 reviews every reviewer gave it 5 stars. I recently tried to post my honest review on their site and low and behold my review, less than perfect, was not published. Now I see why the rating is what it is. Deceptive marketing.
In the end the company offered me a replacement out of 'goodwill' if I paid shipping. They then sent me a bill for $3 which doesn't sound like a lot but their shipping cost is way less since it's just a standard letter.
Overall, I would not buy another BSE product since they develop permanent marks after 3 months.
Will post a picture when I have a chance.
here's a picture of the bestskinsever after 2 months.
Jesus Christ, that is ugly.
How much did you pay for the screen protector?
I've had some issues with glass screen protectors but I'm now using a "cheap" alternative I found on Amazon that's identical to the £40 glass screen protector I initially had that I messed up when installing. I only paid £11 for a pack which includes a film protector for the back; however all glass screen protectors have SOME sensitivity issues and I've had it with this one too, but it's not too bad.
However I don't use my edge screen in the extreme corners. (I am also using a case which affects this).
Just an idea as it's relatively inexpensive.

I generally carry my phone in my pocket but almost always there is nothing else kept in the same pocket.
Had my BSE front and back protectors on for 3 months and still look brand new. Bought them for my S7 Edge after having a BSE protector on my Galaxy S5 for 2 years and it still looked mint after all that time.
Had mine for at least 3+ months, looks nothing like this, I don't know how you managed that. Certainly the best normal screen protector I've ever used. Only issue is the case cut works better with some cases than others, but that's no fault of theirs.

I've used many brands of wet-apply protectors. All have been used the same way. None have ever looked like this. I was just surprised that BSE described it as normal wear and tear so I suppose this is what they expect after a couple months.
I haven't used a liquid apply screen protector in years. When I used them, they were new tech for phones, were sticky, and often had an orange peel look to them. And they got deep impressions in then from other objects in your pocket.
I loved them at first, especially as a total body skin. I eventually switched to the plastic PET protectors because they felt smoother and slicker, but attracted fingerprints. After that it's been nothing but tempered glass screen protectors.
Now that I'm using the S7E, I've gone back to the liquid application screen protectors. After research, I settled on the Yootech from Amazon.com for $8. I put one on my wife's phone first about three weeks ago and have been very impressed with the fit, feel, and clarity. She keeps her phone in a pocket or purse and I haven't seen any marks on the screen. So last night I put the same protector on my phone, and am again very impressed.
It isn't as slick as glass, but nowhere near as sticky as the old Zagg and similar liquid install protectors. My finger glide over it very easily and smoothly, and the orange peel effect is nearly non existent, unless you look at just the right angle in the direct light. And it doesn't attract fingerprints. I wouldn't say it's oleophobic, the prints just don't show up as much.
I say all that to say, my experience with these type of screen protectors is very limited, especially in newer brands, but if BSE isn't satisfactory, you may try the Yootech. I just ordered the BSE body protection set, so I'll be curious to see how it holds up.

No, no, no. Can't recommend spigen screen protector at all. Bought it one time and my corners piled off next day. Several months later I bought it again, thought that maybe they fixed something but i was wrong. Bought spigen second time yesterday, before it i was using best skin ever. So today i saw same ****ty piled off corners and ordered best skin ever again.
I don't understand how they are selling those screen protectors if from 4 times i applied them all times i got the same result. It sticks very nicely but next day corners starts piling off.
So in my opinion best skin ever is best choice for s7 edge.
i've been using an armorsuit wet apply one. it isn't glass but it much better that the BSE I had. Looks a lot smoother in comparison.

I pre ordered my note 8 with Verizon and it came in yesterday!
I have the spigen kick stand case on it now. Got it from Amazon prime for 17 bucks and it's great. Makes the phone easier to handle.
I have the cheap plastic screen protector that came on the phone in the box. Really can't decide on a screen protector. I hate the wet application ones and the dry adhesive tempered glass always bubble. Thinking about going raw....any one else?
I'm supposed to get mine tomorrow but none of my accessories are here and I ordered the phone after the accessories. I wouldn't do it only because of some of the complaints of the s8 and scratches on the screen. There's some screen protector that I'm gonna try that is supposed to be a hybrid between regular protectors and tempered. Hopefully I can order that soon but I'm gonna have to use the one in the box or a temporary tempered glass on it

I am,in place of a screen protector,I'm using a liquid sealer.
Here's one that's relatively inexpensive:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/NanoBlot-Liquid-Screen-Protector-Phone/165968396
https://www.walmart.com/ip/NanoBlot-Liquid-Screen-Protector-Tablet/112875380
And another that costs a bit more, but, good for several applications:
https://www.nanoflowx.com/spraygard
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nanoflow-X-...tector-PROTECTS-UP-TO-16-PHONES-/172590962858
Do these sealers work?
That's debatable, but,I've been using several different brands for about two years & while it is impossible to prove a negative I haven't had a single blemish on any of my phones for 2+ years.
Do not mistake this stuff as an equal replacement for a screen protector,it's merely providing scratch resistance, nothing in regards to breakage.
I don't recommend these sealers to everyone, especially to those who are prone to exposing their phones to scratching (using the phone w/dirty fingers/exposed to the elements/dropping/typically careless in regards to pocketing/pursing with items that may scratch on a regular basis,etc...)
I don't baby my phone, but,I do take care to keep it in a pocket holster while @ work & in a neoprene sleeve most other times.
For me,a screen protector is not necessary,so,I use a sealer for added protection against scratching.
Some think they're snake oil & TBH,I don't blame 'em,but,I loathe screen protectors as a whole,less a perfectly installed factory one,as w/the Huawei Mate 9,you'd be hard-pressed to notice.
I wish a factory-installed protector was an option, perhaps I'd be more inclined to use one, provided it didn't have the looks akin to a protective bra on a car circa 1980-1990.........................

With my first Note 7 I used Sharkproof "snake oil" and like you was very careful with daily handling. For the 4 weeks (!) i had my first Note 7 I had no issues. The only issue I had was that Sharkproof made the screen too slippery. For my third Note 7, the second was a swapped device from Samsung which went on eBay, I used Samsung's OEM screen protector. On the whole this was a great option as the S Pen worked well and was more effective than gel/TPU type and I managed not to waste money searching for the holy grail of the tempered glass solution. For the Note8, Samsung have not made available their own screen protector.
EDIT : And so for the Note8, I'm going to have to waste money on TPU/Gel like protectors until Samsung....

You would have social services take my phone in to protective custody, if you saw how I treated it.
Was just looking at my S7E screen, thinking "that's actually
pretty good, for its age". Then remembered I smashed it and had it replaced a month ago.
I have a case on it now...
My problem with screen protectors: Every one I've used has looked and felt worse than the micro scratches it might prevent.

Does the S8 have the same gorilla glass the Note 8 will have?
I was so hopeful that i could forego the screen protector on this one but from reading this thread i doubt it.
Last note I had was the 4 and i had the screen crack on me.
no matter how many people say they got no scratches, never go without protector. they are either blind, lie or can't place the phone in right angle to see those scratches.
i always buy protectors because of the scratches and not because the screen could crack.
on my s4 which has gorilla glass 3. i haven't had a protector for the last year after using always the same protector 3 years before.
since then there aren't any hard scratch on the display or anything but i notice alot of fine micro scratches but only when i put heavy light on it and hold it in the right angle.
i have used it much, but mostly at home and also kept care of it. still it happened.
as far as i know and have read this isn't any better on the newest gorilla glas 5. so i will not risk anything and keep on using protectors.
for the note i just simply can't find anything good.
whitestone dome on the s8 was good, but overpriced, not friendly for every case, popped up after a few months or just cracked very fast.
not good enough for this kind of money otherwise it would be good is guess.
all other glass protectors are useless since they only stick to the sides and will force problems like bad touch, dirt underneath or popping up very fast.
then there are wet tpu protectors which i don't like. they are too thin and flexible. they just don't feel right, leave marks quickly and often got a yellow touch or rainbow effect.
also they will probably not stick long on the edges and are mostly not case friendly even if they say so.
so the only thing which i consider are the good old school tpu/pet protectors which are applied without any water or so.
i hope they will stick good on the edges and if they are case friendly nothing will pop up.
it's a little bit harder to get all the bubbles out but i rather put some time into placing the protector right and remove the bubbles then buying every few weeks a new one or even go without any.
of course they will also feel kinda cheap like plastic (it is plastic afterall) but atleast they are not so thin and flexible like the wet tpu ones.
for now i will try this one and hope it will be good. if not well then im fuc*ed cause i can't find anything else!! (

i have this weird thing where i do protectors for at least the first yr then i just go bare. it doesn't make too much sense logically i suppose but i probably will with the Note 8 again. My S7 has been bare for a while now and has zero scratches FYI

Bare always feels great!
However, the cuts and scratches really detract. Insurance will not cover that as normal wear and tear. So, for the first time, I'm wrapping mine up. hehe
Bought 9H screen protector. If it's not as "Sensitive" I can always take it off.

I just received an IQ Shield Matte screen protector and I'm really disappointed. It screws up the colors and whites have a rainbow effect to them. I took it off and now I'm looking for a new one. I'd like one that is:
1. Anti-glare
2. Anti-fingerprint
3. Clear and doesn't screw with this beautiful display.
Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance!
Thee one and only,,,,but more importantly expensive whitestone dome screen protector is probably the most I've heard of working...45 to 50 dollars tho
Any you can recommend about $20 and under?
First I tried the Spigen NeoFlex film screen protectors and they are garbage. Then I ordered a cheapo full cover tempered glass screen protector from eBay and it works great.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/3D-Full-Cov...ector-For-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-8-/332345555824
I've only been using it for about a week so I can't say how well it will keep dust out. Sensitivity is great, I don't notice it's on at all. It's not Anti-glare or Anti-fingerprint but it's only $8.
I'm using the i-blason tempered glass.
Under $20, it's still on, doesn't interfere with the screen.
It's still going to collect fingerprints and smudges due to the oils in our skin, but it wipes off easily.

There are plenty of discussions under the accessories section
But I'd say don't bother. I had one tempered glass protector on for an hour before it annoyed me too much and I removed it! Destroys the feel and use of the phone.
I have been buying the RhinoShield stuff for my stuff and its held up really well for me.
rhinoshield.io is where you'll find it.. (I havn't logged in long enough that I forgot my account info :/ )
edit: found my login info so now I can add the link:
https://rhinoshield.io/collections/samsung-galaxy-note-8
Plus, nobody else's stuff has any evidence that even suggests it actually works.
I havn't tried it for the note8 but I came by this thread while I was researching if anyone had so figure I'd mention it. It is expensive to get the whole kit (screen protector, bumper, and in this case rear glass protector), but I found it worth it..
I have a cheapo '2.5D' glass and its doing well. Touch response is worse mind.
There is a speaker hole at the top; this needs covering with a bit of tape or you wil get dust between the screen and the protector.

I purchased a relatively inexpensive TG protector. While it exhibits many of the drawbacks of TG protectors that aren't full-adhesive (i.e. all of them except the Whitestone Dome), it doesn't have quite the "rainbow effect" that I've seen with other protectors.
Its real downside, though, is its slickness ... I need a more paper-like surface to better control the s-pen. Just the tiniest bit of friction would help. I'm thinking that I may have to go to a film protector rather than TG to get that, though. Does anyone else have this issue with TG protectors?

Ever since the introduction of the edge curved screen (and I have owned the lot) I have never found a decent screen saver. It is a subject on every forum here on XDA and concerning all the Samsung edge models.
I have taken recommendations only to find them useless. Some use a glue, some have a dotted appearance after application some just suck period!
I used a partial screen saver once that just covered the centre of the screen but even that proved awful. Even used Samsungs own on the Note 7 and though that was not glass it also was horrible.
If any peer here does find a working screen protector PLEASE let us know.

Whitestone is the best.
I like the Spigen NeoFlex, it's been great so far for me. Went on easily, hasn't peeled off the corners/edge (and I use the Spigen Tough Armor case) and after the 12 hours to settle on the screen it looks great and writing on it with the s-pen feels good too. My personal opinion and the only one I've tried so far on my Note 8

Can the Whiitestone be removed once it's been glued to the Screen?
yes
I got the Bodyguardz glass protector sold to me at the AT&T store (lazy me). The guy installed it and it's ok. Glass protectors have an innate problem in that they sometimes don't transmit touches to the touchscreen itself. This one is no different but it does fit well. And it has a lifetime free replacement policy. I'll keep it to protect my screen.
Hey guys, my gray note 8 with Verizon arrives tomorrow and I'm kind of stressed out because I can't find a good case / screen protector on Amazon. All the screen protectors have horrible reviews and I want this thing protected as soon as I get it. There was one case that seemed good until I read the few bad reviews. It came with a tempered glass protector but some people said it would start coming off. It was the Zizo bolt series. I'm hoping someone can give me some recommendations so I can try and order them tonight and have them get here at the latest Wednesday.

You can buy original alcantara case for your note 8, its the TOP case on that device for now, it looks fantastic and sexy.

I have it and i like it. Once, this case save my note 8 from been broken, i drop it in bathroom on the floor accidentally. 0 damage
About screen protector, you need just regular silicone film. You can ask for it in every shop. I think its the best solution.

I have these on two Note 8's here and they are working well so far. I have a Spigen case and my son a Otterbox Commuter. Just line up the protector with the sensor and speaker cut outs just enough to not cover them and make sure the sides are even and they work great. ILLUMI AquaShield is another to consider. I thought those had a more glass like appearance.
I had the Incipio dual layer and it was too bulky and cheaply made. The 2 pieces didnt line up evenly. So I bought the Alcantara case and couldn't be happier. I dont use screen protectors though. I have never dropped a phone. If i did I still got my pixel or nexus 6p to use while it gets fixed. I went for Samsung care this time around. Only $99 deductible is pretty good.

Protection from breaking is only part of the reason for using a screen protector. My main reason is for scratch protection. The glass is very soft when it comes to scratches.

Yeah I've read this too. I'm always a bit skeptical though about people's stories of "easily damaged/scratched" devices. I've owned several phones over the years and have not had scratching issues outside of the normal wear and tear. And the scratches never where noticeable unless you looked for them. Definitely not with the screen on. There is never a shortage of "screen easily scratches" threads either for any device you look at. Then you can go watch jerry rig everything literally scratch them all at the same level. Even iPhones sapphire glass scratches at the same level. I just don't see the need for another layer of glass that will look just like the layer of glass I put it over in the same amount of time. By the time it had enough scratches to bother me I would have all ready moved on to another device. But I keep something at most 2 years anyways. I do also never lay my phone on its screen and it's alone in my pocket or in my hand. That's it.

I'm talking from personal experience with the Note 8 and the S8 Plus.
And that "normal wear and tear" is what I'm trying to prevent. I like to keep my phones mint for resale value. But the S8 plus and Note 8 do scratch a LOT easier than my past phones. I unfortunately scratched my S8 plus the ONE day I used it naked. Not even sure how, as I am also very careful.
My Note 8 screen scratched in the area above the screen protector. Presumably from me wiping dust off the camera lense. Remember, dust and dirt is made from rocks eroding. Most rocks are made of minerals harder than your glass. All it takes is a spec of dirt...

Yeah for resale it definitely makes sense. Im kind of an electronics hoarder lol. My wife ends up giving away my old phones when I no longer use them. That's lame yours scratched all ready. I know dust is the number one scratching agent. I just have never had any issues. But I do believe you when you say yours scratched easily. I'm not here to discredit anyone. I suggest screen protectors all the time to people I know because they seem to always have cracks and scratches. I hope mine doesn't get scratched. But if it does then maybe I'll start using them.

LOL, I cant afford to hoard. I change phones every six months (though I plan to make this Note 8 last at least a year) but i always have a primary and a backup phone. I had an S8+ with an S7 Edge as a backup. Now my Note 8 is my primary, and my S8+ is my backup. I love everything about my Note8, but I wish it was available in the same Coral Blue color as my S8+. Actually I liked the Coral Blue color of the S7 Edge the best. I wish they would bring that one back.
But to support my habit, I have to sell my phones for thr most I can, and generally buy used, mint devices.
Let's not also forgot about the back glass. I installed the Skinomi back wet applied protector on mine on day two of ownership. While cleaning the back in preparation for the film, I use strong light and magnification to help with dist removal , I noticed a tiny short scratch on the back glass. Probably caused by something that was in the case.

If you want good protection get either the Seidio or Otterbox, they are a little bulky but provide awesome protection. As for a screen protector I've had a smartphone since the T-Mobile G1, 18 or more phones with no screen protector and no scratches.
https://www.seidioonline.com/product/samsung-galaxy-note-8-dilex-kryptek/
https://www.otterbox.com/en-us/gala...creenless-edition-case/sam2-galaxy-note8.html
Sometime you can find them on amazon for about 1/2 the price from the OEM, don't try to save a few dollars on a case to protect a $1000.00 work of art.
