Do the tiles stay live?
Good app, but let me ask you something, Is it system rule that this aplication cannot make real IE shortcuts on the main page? This is the second app I saw it, when I tap on the internet page shortcut, first black screen for few seconds appears, and after that the page is opened in the IE. Is impossible to make it without black screen? Thanks

Not sure what you mean, but it depends on the tile type.
Connection settings tile will show current status of WiFi and Cellular if you switch them through this tile (bluetooth and airplain mode do not show status because status is not available for developers).
Countdown, Quote and Picasa tiles are updated through background agent so they are live.
All other tiles are static because of the nature of those tile types.

Unfortunately it is not possible. This is what happens behind the scenes when you tap on "IE shortcut" that is created by custom application:
1. Custom application is opened (that's where the black screen comes from)
2. Application calls what Microsoft named "web browser task" and that is when page is opened.
There is no other way to open a web page from custom application.
Since opening an application takes a few seconds (even if it is completely empty) that is where delay comes from.
Hey, just want to let you know, I bought your app. Works great so far - really like some of the tile styles you've come up with, especially the "To Do" and "Note" types.
Good work!
Although I got some really nice comments on my mail for this app, I am also getting some bad reviews. Very often people say it is useless. I don't think it is useless but I need someone who does think so to post a detailed explanation why is that so. Maybe trial version does not show the real value of this app, but I need more details because "it is useless" just doesn't give me enough info to understand it.
So if you think it is useless please post why do you think so.

Ok, I think I figured this one. These are the two main reasons:
1. People often think this app replaces original Start screen so they just want to show their disappointment. Well this is not possible even for device manufacturers. So, no this is not what this app do. But it does allow you to create some really really nice and useful tiles.
2. There is a problem with the Marketplace which causes paid application to act as a trial or in some cases users can not download application they just bought, they get some error. Microsoft is currently not doing anything about this, but most of the time solution is to reinstall the application. But download of app should be initiated from the phone instead of Zune. Because it seems that is what causes the problem.
A lot of people who bought this app ask me where are their 14 tile types. They can see only four.
Apparently something is not intuitive enough. And that something is horizontal list. So for anyone who can't see more than four tile types it is because you need to scroll horizontally to see them. Otherwise you only see first four.
If anyone had problems with flashlight tile, that is now fixed.
I have the paid version and still do not see more than 4 tile either way i scroll?
Well that was with the 4 that was installed on the virtual start screen. You have to create the tile from the list at the bottom then pin to start or virtual start to see all 14.
Just to avoid confusion...there are 14 tile types (horizontal list on the tile editor page) but you can have more tiles (virtual start or phone start screen) than just 14 because you can create multiple tiles of the same type. Also some tiles types have subtypes (Flashlight - camera, display, both; Connection settings tile - wifi, cellular, bluetooth, airplane mode).
There were some problems with Quote tile (structure of the data source changed) and Website tile (favicon service is down) but that and some other small things are fixed.
The gear shaped icon in the picture appeared yesterday and I have no clue what it means. There's no information in the drop down and I've not installed or updated anything that I'm aware of. Anyone seen this icon, or know what it means and how to get rid of it? Not rooted. Thanks.

To expand on this I would check to see what apps are in menu > settings > application > running
Looks like the icon that pops up for watching porn. It's permanent. :silly:
Kidding aside, I don't know what that gear is, but on the SGS3 there was a similar issue brought up and it wound up being a notification bar notification toggle icon.

Its not the Porn Icon because my son used my tablet and I do not have it... ROFLOL... teenager go figure
Thanks for all the suggestions, I've gone through settings/apps/running & closed everything except for google services, android keyboard and settings, yet the icon persists. I'm at a complete loss.

Do you have the Power Controls Widget installed? There was an update to this particular widget yesterday and now it's showing the same on mine (gear)... Not sure why they added it to the notifications ...
Have you updated your tablet yet might be the update icon if not its a persistent app that's running in the background and use a app called startup manager it will help you figure out the app.

That's definitely the power control widget causing that. You were able to hide it easily until the most recent update, and I haven't figured out how to hide it since

you can hide notifications for any app in jellybean - settinsg > applications > find the application > untick 'display notifications' (or whatever it says)
Don't forget about the new JB feature.
If you hold down a notification, it will give you an "App Info" selection.

Yeah, that's exactly what it is. When Power Controls was background updated yesterday, the setting 'Notification Icon' in the app settings was reverted to 'default' (which displays the gear icon). I had previously set this to 'transparent' but now notice that that setting still takes up a slot on the notification bar & looks weird when it's sandwiched between 2 notification icons. I've since set the 'Notification Icon' setting to 'Battery 3' and have removed my Battery Widget? Reborn! widget & notification icon. Thanks to everyone for their help & suggestions. This is by far the best community I'm a member of!
I did search but did not find what i was looking for. Is there a list of apps that can be deleted for MM? Without Xposed how do I change the battery icon to a text percentage?
I can answer the battery icon question. Pull down from the top of the screen with two fingers, press for several seconds on the settings cog, and you'll see a message saying that you now have the customisation options. At the bottom of the settings you now see System UI Tuner. Inside is "Show embedded battery percentage".

I never was able to get into system UI tuner, so I will have to try that.
I did as you wrote, but did not see the message much less system UI tuner. I am running a custom ROM, so what did I do incorrectly?

Custom ROMs can remove system UI tuner or automatically enabled it and moved it to a different location in the settings menu. I have seen a couple that have it in their custom ROM's settings.

GSam battery monitor will show battery percentage in the notification bar, just not *inside* the battery icon. System App Remover will show you which system apps you can remove safely. Note however that even though it says it will put them in a "recycle bin" it fails to do so sometimes. So make sure you don't want it Or you could make copies of the apks yourself I guess, never tried that .
It will show inside battery

I was looking to replace the icon by text, but will check it out.
Did not look for System app remover in the play store but try it.
New request: how do i get a more extensive reboot menu including recovery? I do not mean using an app like reboot manager.
Battery - maybe Battery Bot will do what you want. As well as having the percentage showing inside the battery icon, I have a text percentage on the left of my status bar. I have Battery Bot Pro (I believe in supporting developers) but I guess the option will be in the free version as well.
And for a different reboot menu which allows full restart to bootloader or recovery you need root. There are several apps on the Play Store which apparently do a "fake" reboot by closing and reopening services without root, but I've never really looked in to them. If you don't have root, then I doubt you'll get what you're after.

I am basically making some mods to a stock ROM. I will have to look at that link in detail.
You are gonna end up with issues if you keep doing it this way. Not to mention you will lose one thing because of another. In the end you will have to decide either, Code the changes into your current rom yourself, flash xposed, or flash a custom rom.
Any recommendations for an Apk compiler running under Win 7?
Hi all,
a couple of days ago, I started a similar thread within the Nexus 5X forum, but users asked me to post it here, too. So here is the original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/themes-apps/app-quicktile-android-7-quick-settings-t3443812
*******************
Hi all,
I tested the Android 7 Beta for a couple of weeks on one of my testing devices. One of my favorite new features is the new and improved Quick Settings screen and especially the possibility to add a custom tile.
Eventually I hacked together a little app to add some additional features and fire multiple activities from a custom Quick Settings tile just for my personal use .... after using this app for some time, I realized that this might be interessting for other users, too. So I put some more time and effort into this and developed a full-fledged app to improve the Quick Settings .... and here it is:
QuickTile https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.widgapp.quicktile

Feedback welcome!

Hi,
sure I can send you a promo code, but these codes are integrated with the Google Play IAP api. You use a code as your payment instrument ---> means: instead your credit card or paypal account you choose "Redeem Code" and type in this promo code (all within the standard IAP process) ....So, if IAP is not supported in your country, are you able to redeem this code ?

Oh I mixup your app with other tiles app, just tired your one, toggle with the function perfectly.
However would you let us to choose to reflect a status of on or off in term of the tile in light or dim, I'm sorry for my bad English.
I'm trying to say if I made a data toggle, when I press it, it's on, but i can't get the status from your tile that the data toggle set on or off, I know it will tell from the status bar. However, if I toggle the synchronization, I have no way to know whether I'm on or off the sync unless I check my sync status inside the settings.

The mobile data toggle works for you and you want a mobile data status feedback within the tile. Right ?
QuickTile is designed to enable every user to fire multiple activities with different purposes. A settings status feedback is, from a technical point of view, not a problem, BUT it only makes sense for simple settings tiles with only one setting. So, I´m not sure if and how I should implement a status feedback .... This point is on my "think about it" list for a long time, but I didn´t find a good solution for this, yet .....
One Argument is, that if you only want to trigger a setting, you can use the standard system tile ...
Sure, the mobile data tile is a special case, because of the necessary 2-clicks, but you could always see the mobile data status within the status bar ....(or you could use 2 tiles --> on and off, if you want to be sure)
However, for an explicit mobile data toggle tile, the status feedback would surely make sense ....... but on the other hand in most QuickTile use cases a status feedback would be awkward
bottom line: If I could find a good solution which fits into the overall design and purpose of the app, implementing a status feedback feature is possible, but I haven´t found such a solution yet.

The notifications are given by "Permission reminders - Permission controller" and cannot be switched off (the toggle is greyed out).
Every day, I get a notification about the same apps that I've already dismissed and it's getting very annoying now.
I know it's a security feature and android has to cater for the "dumbest" user but I know what apps I have installed and I trust them.
Some examples are Nova Launcher, Toast Source and Fingerprint Swipes.
Of course Nova launcher needs full device access. Otherwise how is it gonna show notification badges or allow gesture control.
Unfortunately, it's android 13 and toast notifications still have free reign over the device and is not captured in notification history. Some apps still use toast notifications and some are very badly coded that it spams it. It's sometimes difficult to pinpoint which app is giving toast notifications so I use Toast Source, a super useful app that will tell me which app is giving toast notifications. So of course this app needs full device access because it needs to be able to read notifications.
Fingerprint Swipes allows remapping the fingerprint sensor to do different actions on swipe down or up. It even allows swiping sideways for more actions. Of course this needs full device access to do these actions.
Every day, my device tells me "Nova as full device access. Do you want to review permissions?", "Toast Source as full device access. Do you want to review permissions?", "Fingerprint Swipes has full device access. Do you want to review permissions?" and this is getting very old very quickly and extremely annoying.
Is there a way to disable these notifications?
SOLVED: 3rd party app called TidyPanel Notification Blocker.
Possible solution 2: Settings > Apps > Special app access > Usage access > 3dots show system > Permission controller > Slide to off

Tasker app with AutoNotification plugin (stand alone actions) might block these too!
This was marked as solved, was is from the long-press or the third party app?

3rd party app. Long pressing only says it can't be modified.

Great idea. Should've done that ages ago. Up there now.
I had the same problem on my Pixel 5, caused by using the Dashlane app. I may have found a way to disable the daily hassle notification without use of a 3rd party app.
Settings > Notifications > App Settings > Change drop-down from Most Recent to All Apps > tap 3 dots in upper right and change to "Show System" > Scroll way down to (or search for) "Permission Controller."
There's a slider there that allows you to turn off all notifications from the Permission Controller, but based on what I've found out about what it does, it may not be a good idea to turn them off completely. However, if instead of turning off the slider, you just tap on the words "Permission Controller" you get shown a few more options.
I didn't disable all notifications, but the second item under "Other" said Permission Reminders (about 1 notification per day.) I disabled that as well as the item below it (Allow notification dot) and so far the problem seems to be solved.

I had so hoped this would work on my Pixel 7 but the "Permission reminders" toggle under Other is also grayed out and could not by turned off. Has anyone else found a solution to this annoying daily reminder? Thanks
