Gear VR not launching anything - Samsung Gear VR

Earlier this month I got a Samsung Gear VR (2016 R323)
My phone at the time, Samsung Galaxy J7, was not compatible - and so I bought a Samsung Galaxy s6 Edge... I plugged it in and installed the necessary software (Oculus and Gear VR services and apps etc.)
But now when I insert my phone into the headset, the screen turns black, with a small white cross in the corner (like one you'd click to exit). This appears for about 3 seconds, then I am back to my home screen with the message at the bottom that reads "Unable to use Gear Vr. Check mobile device properly inserted in Gear VR."
Any suggestions?
I've tried:
rebooting
uninstalling VR updates
installed software updates
generally screwing around with the detachable port, ensuring it's on properly etc
I haven't resorted to factory resetting yet

[Q] apps not transferring/missing

switched from a s4 to a note 3 and noticed that some of the apps are not transferring even though they "show" in my purchased list and says to open in gear manager even though they are not on the device. pulling my hair out here. Ive noticed that the note 3 does not play anywhere as nice as with the s4. Tried resetting the watch multiple times and even deleted galaxy gear from my s4 in hopes it would come back. Thanks in advance.

[Q] Galaxy gear seems to be stuck on spinning screen, software update doesn't work.

Here's the main issue with this new Gear that I'm trying to test:
After I pair the Gear V700 /w a Galaxy S4 (matching the codes and whatnot), both devices seem to think they are paired. However, the Gear just shows a screen that has the Gear on the left, a spinning thing in the middle, and a phone on the right. I can get to the volume/brightness screen by double tapping, and can ask it to restart/power down, so it's not actually stuck.
The other problem is that on the Gear App on the S4, if I go to Paired Gear > Software update > Update, it doesn't actually seem to do anything. Perhaps I've somehow disabled the Updater? I looked to make sure this was not the case. The software version is JDQ39.V700XXUAMII.

Galaxy Gear 2 Neo Issues reconnecting to Gear Manager

Ok just got the Gear 2 Neo 3 days ago and the setup of the Gear 2 went well. But now every time I move out of range of my phone Gear Manager will not auto-reconnect. The bluetooth will for about 30 sec, then disconnects completely. I had the Gear Fit and NEVER had these issues. I have restarted, reinstalled, and did factory resets on my Gear 2 Neo 3 times so far.
I am running the Galaxy Note 4 running Lollipop 5.0.1 and Gear Manager ver. 2.2.15022599.
Having the same damn problem.
Running Galaxy Note 3 with Gear 2 Neo. Had no problems before with KitKat.
Piece is useless without autoconnect
UPDATE: It is now working correctly. When I move away from the phone while wearing my Gear 2 Neo then come back closer to my phone, it reconnects with no issues! I did no changes to my phone or watch. Strange!!
Mine works in the Note 3 ROMs (5.0 and 4.4), but won't reconnecting in the S6 ROMS, already tried many times
Issue has started again. Unable to reconnect to my Note 4!!!

Gear VR not setup not apearing?

Hey guys,
I just got the gear vr today, and I plugged in my rooted S6 Edge (On a custom rom), and upon plugging in the screen just shows my blank wallpaper along with no setup instructions at all. Is there an apk file I can download somewhere for the vr manager? I realize this is probably due to the custom rom I am on, however I would hate to have just bought a 100 dollar paper weight. Any help / suggestions are appreciated.
EDIT: Just realized the title was messed up, sorry about that.
Quick update, Ive borrowed a friends note 4 and copied all of the apps i think i would need (see screenshot). Unfortunately the screen now comes up black, with an x in the top corner. I now can hear the sound you are supposed to hear when you plug in the vr headset. I've tried installing the default apps in the oculus home setup with the headset disconnected, however they all fail installing after I get done downloading it.

It's probably your kernel. You need a kernel that is permissive, which stock kernel is not. I'm on FireKat (which uses stock kernel), and I have to flash AEL kernel when I want to use the VR.

Weird behaviour from Samsung Apps

Peeps,
I am going to go with this chronically, although i am not sure if things are connected to each other.
1. A few months back, Watch didnt pair with Phone, i noticed that Galaxy Wearable disappeared from my phone. I manually installed the APK as the update wasnt available on the stores.
2. Again, past two months, i kept randomly losing my alarms in Samsung Clock...although, never manually updated this one.
3. Yesterday, i get a notification from Galaxy Wearable that i should install Samsung Health if i want to sync the stats between the watch and phone/cloud. Well, i updated the app to get Dark Mode cause the update does not show up on the store. How the hell did it delete itself?
All this, coming after some shady Chinese company detected in Device Care (not anymore, i know) and randomly receiving the Find My Mobile notification (i am one of them).
Phone is not rooted, and i am VERY sure i do not have any malware on it.
Samsung health got uninstalled, seemingly by itself, on my Note too. Two days ago.
