I have a great problems: from two days my phone recharge, or connect to pc, only if is off.
If i try to recharge from wall adapter, or from pc (or connectiong to pc) nothing happens.
If a plug the cable to pc or wall adapter while phone is off, then i start the phone, all is right; but if i unplug the cable the reconnect it, it doesn't work and i have to shut down my phone again.
I tried multiple cables, 2 wall adapters, two pc both win10 and win7.
Now i am obliged to do that way: if a want to recharge, or to connect to pc for file transfer, i have to:
1) shut down the phone
2) wait the recharge process starts
3) boot the phone
4) never unplug the cable until i have finished what i have to do
I had LineageOS from 1 year; the same way happens in TWRP recovery, so i thought it was a recovery problem.
I updated my recovery, nothing to do; i updated Lineage, nothing to do.
So i returned to stock situazion, both recovery and Android, but nothing changed.
What can it be?
Thanks.
Ok thread closed, the phone is completely dead :'(

Hi,
I want to update my ROM from a standard WM5 to WM5SE rev 5.0. Following instructions, I downgraded with the button ROM to let me CID unlock my G3 Jammin. The butotn ROM installed, but when it reset it would not boot and both the red and blue lights would flash together, the screen would flash on, and then it would shut off.
This pattern is repeated every couple of second and doesn't stop until I pull the USB cable out, after which it repeats once more then switches off. I can't turn the phone back on with the power button. From here I can get back into the locked cycle by powering on with the USB cable plugged in (back into reset cycle), or into windows with the mains power cable (see below).
I think this means that the problem is related to my USB cable being plugged in. When I put the mains power cable in, the PDA will boot into windows. Related to this is what I think may be the main culprit. In setting, Windows says the battery is on 0%!!! Even the mains power cable doesn't seem to ever charge it, so I think it must be a software problem related to the ROM. Inceidentally, I recall that I had to softreset near the end of Button ROM's install, perhaps this is part of the problem...
Now I can reinsert the USB cable only during the Windows boot process, which as mentioned has to be initiated with the mains power cord, ie. I swap over half way through. If I change from mains power to USB after Windows has fully booted then the phone resets and the above reseting cycle occurs again.
Once Windows is fully booted with the USB cable in everything is stable and Activesync detects the phone. The problem is that when I try to reinstall a stable ROM, the update software throws the following error: Error [220] mains battery power. So the software I believe is reading that the battery is less than 50% (ie. probabaly thinks there is 0 charge left) and I can't reinstall a new ROM!!
The other thing to note is that I can get into bootloader mode with the mains power cable, but as soon as I try to switch over to the USB cable, the phone resets and it again gets locked into the perpetual reset cycle.
Please help me!! Any ideas are appreciated.
Gavin.
Hi,
Found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1216580&postcount=23
Seems like a similar problem. He solved it by replacing the battery. Is it possbile to destroy a battery while flashing a ROM?

Same problem again:

Wow 40 views, and not a single idea?
Well I think I'm going to invest in a cradle, so that I can have both mains power and a usb connection, hopefully I'll be able to reflash with this. Anyone have expereince with this method? What is a good cradle?
I have a major problem with my Tilt, when it is off and I plug it in, the phone will not charge and instead just boots up into Windows Mobile. While turned on, the phone will not charge; nothing happens when I plug in the USB cable.
The USB connector *looks* OK, no obviously bent pins or damage compared side by side to other HTC phones, but I'm not an expert with a microscope.
Is this a lost cause or are there things I can try to get the device to charge?
i'm not sure my observations will help you but i noticed the following behavior ONCE...i was too lazy to re-test and confirm my theory, but here goes:
1. if the phone was improperly shut down, the phone would turn on and start booting as soon as i would plug in my wall charger (NON HTC, its a generic Motorola charger). in my case, my device charges fine once the boot up has cleared the boot splash screen.
2. using the usb cable plugged into my pc, the phone would NOT turn on when i would plug in the usb cable. i MIGHT have shut down the phone properly prior to trying this but my memory isn't keeping up with me right now
i guess what i'm trying to say is that i THINK the device is built to turn on the moment a charging source is available, that is if it was improperly shut down.
Thanks for that tip...my Tilt is now plugged in via USB and will charge whether or not it is on or off. I still have to try it with the regular AC adapter, but at least it's not dead!
Edit: Everything is good to go Thx for the tip
Hi,
A few days ago i tried to connect my phone to the computer but the computer started making connect and disconnect sounds repeatedly. The phone wasn't able to connect to the pc and it didn't charge. I tried another pc with the same result, i also tried other cables again with the same result. But the phone still charged when I connected it to the charger.
Last night however my phone also stopped charging(AC). It was 1% when i woke up and it refused to charge (tried different chargers/cables). I only got it to charge the second time i turned it off and connected the charger. So, the usb port does still work, sometimes when i shut the phone down.
Is anybody familiar with this problem or do you think it's a hardware problem and should I bring it to the store.
Thanks,
I have tried:
1. different charger/cord
2. hooking up to pc (doesn't recognize anything has been plugged in)
3. cleaning dust out of usb port
4. slightly moving the tab inside the usb port to encourage better connection
Weird things:
When I unplug the usb from the phone, it turns on the screen as if it knows something was unplugged.
When the phone is powered off, it charges very slowly
When I restart the phone, it goes through the app optimization (takes forever) as if I just flashed a new rom
Hi there,
i've got a problem with my Mi3. Suddenly, it has "stopped" charging. Actually it charges when it wants to. Sometimes I plug it in and it begins charging, some other times it doesn't. However, it only goes charging for some minutes and then... bluff!! Stops.
I've managed to fully charge it if I turn the device off, then I plug the USB charger and, next, I turn it on again. The only way i've found.
However, I cannot connect it to my computer, it doesn't recognize the device at all. The computer shows "Windows cannot recognize the USB device because bla, bla, bla...", but it does this in a loop. I cannot stop it unless I unplug the device. Moreover, I cannot find the device in the Device Manager. I could flash a fastboot file this morning to check if the problem was in the ROM. No way.
Any idea or Suggestion?
Thanx!
Looks like you're USB has doomed.
