Huawei P10 color change. literally! - Huawei P10 Questions & Answers

hello folks
basically, today i woke up and plastic white lines that run across the back of the phone turned to pink(ish). i am pretty sure those lines were white yesterday. no chemical contact or any other paint splash or some like that happened. (phone works perfectly fine so i can assume no liquid damege i guess) any ideas? i upload two photos to comparison.

Did you wear red pants or put the phone into a red pocket? Maybe felt, new or natural fabrics?

nope. even if i did i use my phone with protective clear case. i'll add better pics tomorrow but it looks like red color is inside. antenna lines are a bit transparent so the color reflects outside.

Any way to fix scratches on X1 case?

(First of all, I apologize if this is not a forum where one can post questions regarding hardware only.)
Yesterday I bought a used Xperia X1 for a budget price. The phone is in good shape. And looks like I hit the right ROM instantly (826X-peria ROM with WM6.5.3 and Sense UI 2.5). Everything works like a charm, and I really love everything about this phone. Well, except for one thing.
The white "Sony Ericcson" label just below the ear-speaker was half-way scratched away. It looked fuzzy. So I got the stupid idea to remove it completely. I took a cloth and some polishing paste, and rubbed it away. It looked fine last night, but today, in daylight I saw that I scratched some of that black brushed surface too. I didn't anticipate that this black brushed outer surface was so thin. The surface remaind smooth as it was before. There is no difference of feeling under the finger, it's just that some lighter/silver tone is coming out there where the "Sony Ericsson" was. Is there a way to fix this?
The black finish is the worst of the ones X1 came in, so many people just did away with the entire black coating to make their devices look presentable. The best way to fix this is to use the finest sandpaper or nail block to remove the errant black and make your X1 uniformly colored.
Oh, I really like the black finish.
And I would have to disassemble it to brush away the black on the front cover. Looks tricky...
I was hoping for some kind of a solution from the outside. Like some special paint, or something...
Please delete this post.
No, It's not about he battery cover. I already polished it.
It's about the front cover. There where the "Sony Ericsson" label is. Just below the ear-speaker.
The stupid thing is that I made this mess myself...
I made a photo, but the forum doesn't allow me to post links, because I'm a new user.

If the silver is wearing off of the "HTC" logo on your back cover...

You can peel the letters off, and it actually looks pretty good.
I somehow had gotten into the habit of rubbing the "HTC" logo on the back while holding my phone, and started to wear off the silver paint. I decided I wanted the letters either all silver or all bronze (the color underneath), so I tried using my nail to scrape off the paint. Instead, the letter peeled off! Even more surprisingly, it actually looks pretty good. If you do this, make sure you peel the letters off and the little adhesive film underneath them as well (it looks kind of shiny, peel it off and you'll have the nice matte coloring of the back cover).
Yeah my letters ended up just falling off. It doesn't look bad though, I was just kinda surprised when they started to come off.
yeah the letters from my black battery cover and my white battery cover both fell off.
surprisingly my red battery cover is still perfect, I've had it for quite a while now and the letters from that one are still there
My "H" actually broke in half and the "T" has been missing for something. I was thinking about doing this.

I have 2 covers - the regular one and the extended battery. The extended one still has the letters but the more I look at them the more i want to take them off. Or maybe I'll try dying them red to match the case. The regular cover has had the letters off for a long time
Did this fairly easy on my extended cover. Just dug my finger nail at the edges of the letters and they popped off.

Yup same here. The only thing is I think of my red cover as my Ferrari cover, so I only use it when I'm going out and want to show off. It still doesn't have a scratch on it. For the rest of the times I just use either my stock battery cover and if I'm going to be out for awhile I use my extended battery with the big cover.
Happened to me too, but I have to say, kinda looks nicer(?)
My HTC logo is still fine but my red camera eye fell off. Official word...looks like ****.

Yeah, the HTC is fine on mine, but the red camera eye fell off.
Really annoying when I remove the case, which thankfully I do not have to do too often.
I actually liked the silver but last time I was in Cabo they all started to come off because I had left the phone out in the sun with the back side up. I thought about coloring them red maybe but its hard to make it look good and find something that you know will stick to the rubberized case.
Anyone know where to find the silver or a red set of the HTC letters that would fit the Dinc?

My original back started cracking and and lost some pieces. The letters were also falling off.
I ended up getting this back.

Same as the stock one and it fits perfect.
I put on a otterbox immediately after buying my phone and never even noticed the lettering. I actually kind of like the phone without the silver lettering after seeing the image of it.
i hope mine never comes off, but it would still look decent, i see.
One of the edges of the "T" was sticking out and scratching me so I just took them out with an exacto, contemplated filling it in with red nail polish or something but never got around to it.
I had the H start peeling up at random on a very humid day and just pulled it all off. It actually does look rather clean without it! Just needed a little cleaning from where the glue was.
I colored mine in with a fine point Sharpie, white. Then colored over than in bright red. It looks a bit amateur but I don't have the most steady hands. I'll post pics in a few.

scratched my black one :(

Hey all, I dropped my black one against some metal and the back got scratched to the point where you can see the aluminum underneath. Anybody have any experience with this and how to possibly hide it so it's not as obvious? I was thinking a black marker might cover it up but I don't want to get the wrong tint of black and make it look even worse.

I've seen recommendations for black markers. I'm surprised you can actually see the silver aluminum. Thought they had some kind of multi layer black thing going on. Hmm.
Do try the black marker on a VERY small area. wait for it to dry and see whether it works well.
Otherwise if you're still within 30 days of ur phone's purchase. Find even the most minor of defects and bring it in to a store. Maybe they'll accept an exchange.. :S That's all I can recommend :'(
Wait to get other replies first though! Maybe someone else has better experiences (I'm here with a silver One)
I have the black One and tried using a black permanent marker to cover a mark at the top edge. I did not really care about colour differences since my scratched is very small, but my makeup did stay even I waited until it was dried to handle the phone.
I have heard people saying a marker bought from halfords, that's a car shop by the way if you are not in UK. The pen is used to hide car imperfection and can stand rain, dust, and etc, so it must be much tougher to remove.
If you are not sure about colour, yes, I would suggest try a small area first, but if you do have a long scratch it would be difficult to find the perfect colour.
Keep up updated if you find a good pen, so I will stock one as well.

Sounds painful
Finally worked up the courage to buy some paint and go ahead with the paint job. Thought I'd give you guys an update. I bought some Tamiya XF-1 paint, it's supposed to be matte black ink for plastic models. So after the drop my phone looked like this.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1308152/phone paint job/IMG_20130531_210230.jpg
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1308152/phone paint job/IMG_20130531_210315.jpg
I used a toothpick to pick up a drop of the paint and blob it on each scratch. Then I used a moist kitchen toilet to scrub away the paint that didn't get into the scratches. End result is this.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the result. You can still see the silver surface pop up at some angles and I'll probably do another few passes of the paint and scrubbing to try and get it perfect.

Mi5 white, visible joints in silver bezel

Hi!
Just got my Xiaomi Mi5 and its awesome. I have the white version with the silver bezel. The phone is beautiful! However I have something who looks like horizontal visible joints in all four corners. Saw one first and thought it was a scratch but I can see the same marks in every corner. They are also to straight and looks exactly the same so they cant be scratches. They are very faint so its no big thing.
Is it common that the Mi5 has some finishing issues?

Perhaps you talking about antennas? make a photo and show which point it is

Hi!
No I am not talking about the antennas. Have marked which way the mark goes on the picture, however I cant get it to show on pictures. Thought it was a scratch or discoloration first but its a completley straight line and visible in all four corners.

Display under UV light

Before I installed UV screen protector I noticed this stripe under UV lamp. Is that normal?
I saw that too, when installing the Whitestone Dome, and have not noticed any problems.
I noticed the same thing when installing my whitestone... assuming it's normal, my display is good under normal circumstances as far as I can tell

it's basically the same shape that shown on my screen whenever the screen display dark color contrasts (but not true blacks)...that seems to resemble a burn-in.
Hi everyone, I don't think this is anything to worry about. I found the same blob on my Huawei Mate 20 Pro whilst I was trying to cure my green screen.
I then checked my partners s9 and it also had the same blob so it's definitely not screen burn.
I was told it's the loca glue used in the manufacturing process. Same thing on the Pixel 3 XL's and Note 8's. I wouldn't worry about it.

Theres almost no way it's a burn in. I have this on my brand new unit that i noticed on the 1st day of use before installing my Whitestone. At this point the screen and only been on for about 20 mins. I know this because my phone as of now only has 31 charging cycles on it.

Yup normal. However I seen a user on here who had it discolor and could be seen under normal use.
Been looking into it why I'm at work. It is an optical adhesive and perfectly normal. However from what I'm guessing Samsung let a few out with bad adhesive and that's what causesd his what he thought was burn in.
But normal to see it under uv under certain wave length's. If you see it without UV light then that is an issue. Or if you have your display on and can see the outline of it.
Same Norland adhesive we use at my work on some of our optical stuff.
Just a heads up. The light they give you with the dome is not the right wavelength for the adhesive they use. Final cure you will wanna do 2 min total for each top and bottom. If not the adhesive will still be green "not fully cured" the adhesive they use is on the cheeper end of the spectrum but fine for what it is being used for. That much adhesive in a top of the line product would be around $30. But I used it on my. Did a final cure of 2 min top and bottom. Checked it out under a high power microscope and it was fully cured. No issues with it lifting.

So you've been meaning to say that if we see this without UV light (which I see in my device when I'm in a dim room and I let my phone show dark grey to dark green colors), then it's not normal? Then if it's Samsung fault, would they fix it in a repair center (hopefully free of charge)?
Im just quite pissed off for this since I came from S9+ and I havent had any issues with the screen. Couldn't they be at least consistent with things like this given the fact the display is one of the most selling point of this phone?
p.s. and oh, just to add, what's appearing on mine is not just some rectangular flat discoloration on my screen, it has dark polkadots lined in a grid inside just like many others have been complaining about.

note 8 had that too.
I saw the same when installing my dome glass. No issues with the display.
My 3 month old Note 9
Can see green polka dot kind of burn in during normal use. Phone is only 3 months old. I take care of my phone religiously. Just noticed a few days ago and now it's all I see.
