The setup was fine, connected to my network, played Netflix and Youtube from various devices (phone, laptop, computer) no problems! (Interested in the Plex thread and others on here for locally stored video.. )
What is happening is very strange, however. I have a TV with multiple inputs (typical these days, right?) but after I've been 'casting' to the Chromecast, it takes several tries to change away from that input to another input (my Xbox, or HD antenna).
ALSO - the TV powers itself ON after a while! WHY IS THAT? I left and came back home and thought I had left the TV on - which is not like me at all! And later that night it turned on AGAIN after I went to bed. I unplugged the Chromecast just to get it to stop, but ideally, I would want to leave it plugged in all the time.
What is making the TV turn on?
Will moving my TV input to anything other than the Chromecast port stop it?
Is there a soft power-off option for the Chromecast device?

Sounds like you're having issues with their chrome cast's HDMI CEC. It can be used to automatically change inputs to the one the chrome cast is using and even turn on tvs.
You could disable HDMI control for your TV and it would prevent the issues from occurring.
Every manufacturer has a different name for their HDMI Control feature.

I would suggest to just unplug the USB when not in use if your TV is turning on, I know my brothers TV its a westinghouse turns on anytime something connected to it turns on like the xbox or ps3 or laptop
not so good to know. hope its fixed soon

It's a Toshiba flat-screen, don't know the model. I'll put more detail up tonight when I can look. :silly: I also need to try having it off the Chromecast and starting a session and seeing if it draws the TV to that input. THAT would be nice, but the auto-powering on is a bad bug in my opinion.
My TV turns on automatically when just about anything powers on before the tv is on. Say I turn my ps3 on 1st, it will turn it on. Or plug a USB Flash drive in, turns it on. But, once in the HDMI spot, I can shut it down and it stays off. Very strange.

Hello.
What I want?
I want to be able to stream my PC/laptop desktop. I want to have few installations like that in one wifi network( 3x Chromecast + 3x projectors)
Laptop--> Chrome+Gogle Cast Beta(extension)-->Chromecast-->Projector
I can do it and it works but.... any one who connects to same wifi network can disconnect me and overtake projector streaming.
Question:
Is there any option to secure connection to specific chromecast? For example pin code displayed on specific projector view which I must type or any other option to lock specific chromecast with specific laptop/desktop.
Thank you for any idea/information.
Best Regards.
Anyone can not take over unless they have gone through the setup process. If I was to come over, I can't access your Chromecast. I can use the guest option (which you can turn off in the settings) to stream certain apps for a limited time. It doesn't give access to the settings.
Note 4 using Taptalk
So when connecting to Bluetooth to certain devices like my Google home or my Vizio soundbar, my note 9 will drop the Bluetooth connection to them. I know this happening all the time when connected to both my gear 3 and my Google home, so I have to disconnect my gear 3 and only connect to my Google home. In addition, the nut 9 rarely stays connected to the Google home throughout the night. Usually at some point in the night it disconnects. I don't have this issue when connected to my gear 3 and my Kia Soul though.
Any ideas what's going on? I haven't done a factory reset of the phone since I purchase it, but I haven't installed any sketchy apps besides YouTube vanced either haha. Thanks for the help.
Today i updated to OneUI 2.5 and the Smart View function from the notification panel doesn't find my TV anymore. It used to work before. My TV is a 2011 Series 6 one. The 32D6100 model connected via wire to internet. I tried the Smart Things app and it found it as a directly connected device but sharing things from the app is cumbersome compared to using the Smart View toggle. Can someone on OneUI 2.5 please see if it works for them?
Worked for me. Sometimes I need to restart either tv or phone or both of them to connect again. Other then that it works great. I use wireless dex if cast doesnt work.

Weird. I restarted tv and phone and nothing. Actually my phone does find something but every time it's a different random device. One time it was a LG TV, one time a Sony, then some random projector. And if i try to connect it disappears from list. I'm connected to wifi and there's only one TV that's also connected to the same internet in my home. TV doesn't support miracast as it's quite old though so i can't use wireless dex or screen mirroring on it. Smart view could only show some content from the default Samsung gallery, music and video apps. Will buy an Anycast M9 Plus dongle and hope everything works with it.
I have two Chromecasts -- one first generation and one second generation. I also have an old Firestick. My wife's Galaxy S 9 works fine with all three devices. My phone worked fine with all three until a couple of weeks ago. Now, my phone can only cast to the Firestick (and obviously only from supported apps like YouTube and Netflix). If I open the Google Home app on my phone, both Chromecasts appear in their appropriate rooms, but that's about where my control ends.
In Home, I can tap and connect to the second generation device to control the volume and I can also tap the "Watch live TV" button below the icon and it will start casting some weird network with old game shows. I can do absolutely nothing else with that Chromecast including screen mirroring, casting from any app, or even viewing or controlling playback of media cast from a different phone. I can tap to connect to the first generation device, but it says "Not available" and that's the end of that. There is no "Watch live TV" button below it.
Again, all of these devices work fine with my wife's phone. I have tried all the usual culprits from unplugging every relevant device and waiting a few minutes, resetting the Chromecast, clearing Home app data, uninstalling and reinstalling apps, verifying all devices are on the same network, making sure Home and Google Play Services have full permissions, the phone isn't in power save mode, sensors are enabled, etc... Google Home has no trouble managing other connected devices in my home including light bulbs and speakers. I can reset the Chromecasts and actually set them up with my phone from the Home app, but as soon as they connect to Home, my phone can no longer control them.
Anyone ever had a similar experience? Can you think of any obscure settings that might be causing me issues? I already spent an hour or more with Google's Chromecast support and I'm about to see if I can find a good Samsung support channel.
