Hi guys! I'm new to Android (only two weeks of using) and few days ago I updated my Sony Xperia X Performance to Android 8.0
Device seems to be working more slowly and bit lagging so I decided to make a downgrade if possible.
Which version of Android is best for Xperia X Performance ? Should I downgrade to 7 or 6 version of Android?
Where I can get a text/pictures/video guide how to downgrade from Android 8.0?
Thanks a lot! Any help is highly appreciated.
install flashtool: http://www.flashtool.net/downloads_windows.php
install drivers.
Download firmware from xperifirm: https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4309628&d=1508856592
create a ftf via same flashtool
than flash, load from flashtool ur ftf, off phone, press volume down, and plug usb
and wait
Just use the Xperia Companion app on your PC.
Open the app and go to "software repair" tab.
Once you go there the app will guide you through the process. You can even choose which firmware to install. Nougat seems to be working the best. The flashtool advice you already got, works, but it maybe too complicated for some users.

Hi, and welcome to the xperia z corner.
As far as i can see it theres a small problem with win8 and the drivers ( see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240614 ->tutorial part 2)
Additionaly, this thread might be helpfull too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283673
can't guarantee any of it though as i'm still on rooted fw .434 (doomlords exploit, as mentioned in the second thread) and wait for the ota update to show up in my area (unbranded, germany).
hope i could help, and have fun with your new XZ.
thank you for ur help...windows 8 was driving me nuts so i tired flashing with win7 laptop & it worked like a charm......now it seems i have a new question... i am on the 350 firmware & rooted & custom recovery installed can i now install the 434 update via ota or do i have to flash through flashtools

That's actually the exact same way i ended up with FW .434, by getting the ota update after rooting the previous one with doomlords method.
I DID install another app called Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper (just in case) that is supposed to ensure that the system stays rooted even after an ota update.
If you're using SuperSU there's also an option called "survival mode" which should do the same thing as the rootkeeper app.
i'm not sure if that rootkeeper stuff is really neccessary, but i guess it can't hurt
i just ran into another snag.... i just flashed pureXaudio & now my recovery doesnt start...i had cwm recovery for locked bootloader.... i tried reinstalling it but it says recovery already installed & quits
installed dual recovery & tried to do a restore from a backup i created before the purexaudio but after the restore was done i tried to format cache & it was stuck there for like 10min....did a reset by holding power & volume up & after that my phone is stuck at bootanimation.....it doesnt go into a bootloop its just stuck at the animation....i tried to go back into recovery & wipe dalvik cache which was successful & then i tried to format cache but the same thing happened & now i cant get into recovery at all & its still stuck at bootanimation.......i am currently downloading a global .350 firmware for c6602 to flash through flashtool.....its gonna take 3hrs.....in the meantime... if anyone has a solution i will be very grateful.....this is freaking me out....i hope i didnt brick it or something
Hi, I would like to post a request of solution to a problem faced by a number of Xperia Z series devices users out there. For the latest 4.3 build (10.4.B.0.569) from SONY, the OTA update could not be installed despite being able to be downloaded successfully. The file size is 318MB for my ZL. Once completed the download the phone will reboot itself into its recovery and soon after a few seconds it reboots itself and give an undismissable notification of "could not install". As reconfirmed with other users, root does not seem to be the problem. No official comment was given and close to none from XDA. Could anyone please help with poor users affected by this issue?

I'm not sure, but I think it's the CWM or TWRP, perhaps it's the boot.img ... don't know.... To update to newest FW follow this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565850

Am using stock recovery...….so don't think it is related to the recovery...
u said u did it ota so umm have u tried via pc companion to update ure phone ?
if youre not rooted may i suggest using pc companion or flashing the ftf via sony ericson flasher (sony rom ) required to update the phone
Beside you can also use EMMA, but think this will reset your phone to factory defaults.
For my phone it installed an older build (0.244) and then I was able to get the latest FW by OTA.

I bought a unbranded XPERIA SP two months ago and I am still stuck on Android 4.1.2 and the phone has the build number 12.0.A.1.211
Using the OTA and desktop update I keep on getting that my phone is up to date.
I looked up the customization number with *#*#7378423#*#* > 'Service info' > 'Software info' > 'Customization Version') and it is 1273-0043_R2A
Using XperiaUpdateChecker.exe and Google I cannot find anything about the customization number.
Based on advice from some users I rootded the phone and changed the Customization Version and still did not get the update.
How do I upgrade to the latest Android 4.3 version?

Thank you. This was helpful. I am now using the latest firmware and Android 4.3.
Unfortunatly I made a backup using Sony PC Companion and it does no longer allow me to restore all my files. So I have lost everything except pictures and the things Google saves, like contacts.!
For anyone reading this and want to update. Please do not use Sony PCC as a backup tool! Find some other way.

I had exactly the same problem. I used this guide to retrieve my data from the PCC backup:

The procedure is quite tedious, because you have to basically extract one app at a time from the backup. But it works.
Dear XDA-developers,
Today I spend numerous hours in trying to root my xperia z3 compact.
I currently have MM 6.0.1 D5803 installed on it with 23.5.A.0.575 the netherlands T-Mobile version. I have tried the following: Kingroot, iroot, kingoroot etc but it is all not working. I also used adroid sdk and changed the fastboot driver. I am able to fast boot etc.
Could anybody help me out with rooting this device? Love to hear from you guys.
Kay
It is described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/how-to-root-backup-drm-keys-t3013343/page149
Basically you must downgrade to kitkat, run the rooting script and install recovery, and then install a prerooted marshmallow rom.
Similar issue in Switzerland

Hi, I actually have the same problem rooting my new Z3C in Switzerland. I know that I have to downgrade but when I flash the rom it just boot in the welcome page and the it crashes and go in bootloop.
I've tried with both:
"D5803_23.0.1.A.5.77 Android 4.4.4_Customized CE1 1288-7915.ftf"
"D5803_23.4.A.0.546 Android 5.1.1_Customized CH 1288-9528.ftf" (I know that is not the KK but I just wanted to try if it works, but no success at all even flashing a lollipop from CH)
Any ideas guys?

You need to follow this guide here
To answer your question you need build 23.0.A.2.93 or older, to be able to use griefroot

Thank you for you answer. I've actually just tried with this but I get stuck in the welcome screen and then it simply continues to reboots.
I've installed this: D5803_23.0.A.2.93_Generic GLOBAL.ftf
After having a look to the firmware that I had on the phone (original and working was the 6.0.1 GLOBAL version).
All my previous phone was rooted and now I feel like in prison without a rooted xperia! ahahah

Then you are doing something wrong with flashtool, I used that build yesterday, then used geifroot and dual recovery, before flashing Slim 2.
you need to tick all of the wipe boxes, and none of the exlcude, or it won't work. You can't keep your data flashing to a different firmware.

Ohhh nice, it was not mentioned that you have to check all the tick boxes! Thank you so much!
It seems to work now.
I think it would be better to emphasize this in the guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/how-to-root-backup-drm-keys-t3013343
I'm downloading the rom, what would you suggest me if I do really care about the battery life? Maybe the lollipop instead of Marsh-mellow because of the presence of Stamina mode in lollipop?
I guess I will just try to find the best...

There are only two good builds for the Z3c at the moment.
The Slim 5 which is lollipop
or the Slim 2 MM. I was sceptical about MM battery life and held back 5.1 for a long time, but now the latest roms is out, the doze function works as well or better than stamina mode. I am getting 4 days between charges now, something I could never do before

Thank you for your answer. Really useful! I've finally managed to room and install that I wanted!
If you have such permission, I would suggest to edit the guide in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/how-to-root-backup-drm-keys-t3013343
by adding the following:
7. Just select the name of the fw you downloaded and click on "Flash". Note: select both wipes in case you are coming from different android version.
43. Open Flashtool and select the non-pre-rooted fw (this is 23.1.A.0.690), but DESELECT system: in "EXCLUDE" make sure you check the checkbox next to "SYSTEM", flash it.
I will put this comment on the relative guide too!
I don't want to abuse of you kindness but I am currently searching for some CPU+GPU clock and voltage changer. Is there any efficient application that you can suggest me?
Hi there!
I would like to update my xperia currently running on nougat, to oreo. Still locked bootloader and original 7.1.1 fw.
I have the latest flashtool, and used xperifirm to download the global oreo fw. Packed it with flashtool and tried to flash..
Sadly the first error came up, error root, this bundle is not valid..
After Prepare ftf for flashing, and connect phone, another error comes up, no loader.. And then it aborts flash..
How to flash? Is there any guide or thing I missed or forgot to do? My previous z3 was flashed the same way, and worked just fine..
Any screenshots?
No screenshots yet, I have to try again and make some shots.
if you have original, just wait for official update
I don't recommend updating to Oreo just yet. It has a few issues. If you REALLY wanna do it - just use the Xperia Companion app, open the software repair tab and the app will guide you through the process. From there just select the global 8.0. firmware. Ofc, back up your files cause it's a completely fresh install.
