As of now htc's website said they would have the unlocked One back in stock by may 25. That is a bit long so does anyone know where i can buy from a reliable website to get it. I also live in America. Or since i am on AT&T should i just buy the AT&T version since i can flash all the same roms as the unlocked version i could care less that i can not put in another sim card really. Is their any diffidence between the unlocked HTC One and the AT&T version in software or hardware?

Don't know about the difference, but got mine at Bestbuy in Vegas locked to ATT.
Last Sunday unlocked, got root and now I'm running ARHD 7.1.
I bought a Sprint HTC One and unlocked it - you have to go through a software setup and email HTC code. They then send you the unlock code. I then installed TWRP TeamWinRecoveryProject as my recovery and then you install SuperSU. You will then be able to flash roms with your rooted phone so I dont really see a big difference buying the unlocked version when HTC lets you unlock their HTC One phones unlike - Samsung Galaxie 4 as what the rumor is.
Please bear with me, first time rooting trying to learn as much as possible.
I unlocked the bootloader of my (formerly stock) Sprint HTC One, installed the latest version of TWRP recovery, and rooted so I have SU access.
I haven't changed the ROM yet, my current version of of the SENSE ROM is 5.0.
I recently switched carriers to AT&T, is there any way to SIM unlock my Sprint device to work with AT&T, and also use the latest version of Android (4.4 KitKat?)
I see several guides out there catering to either or, but not both. The "[Complete guide] to SIM unlock your HTC One Sprint for free" only applies to SENSE ROMs, which doesn't help me.
I need a little guidance here so I don't screw things up too badly.
Even if I were to call Sprint up directly, looking to buy a sim unlock, would that let me use a custom, non-SENSE ROM?
Hello,
I am currently living in Europe and i have a Sprint M8. Unfortunately s-off is not compatible with my phone (u might know about the whelp message).
I dont know even if this is possible, but if any of u guys has a contract with SPRINT, can you request an international SIM Unlock (GSM) for me (i dont need unlock for USA carriers, just for other international carriers)?
I can pay if the fee is acceptable.
Thanx!
first why would you get the Sprint version if you live abroad?
second sprint can unlock it so long as its payed off (not on someones contract) and hasnt been reported lost or stolen. just call sprint

I cant call sprint from where I live. If somebody can do it for me im willing to pay.
I contacted Sprint from their Live Chat, and they told me i have to have an active contract with them in order to unlock. Which i dont have
Can anybody help?

if you want to try something on your responsibility then you can follow the sim unlock method without s-off (remember to make nand backup) & try if you get your device unlocked, if not then you will need to enable gsm band with QPST, with modified HTCOMADM_SPCS.apk.
I followed all that sim unlock method but my device still locked & i can't select gsm networks then i enabled it with QPST & all things worked ok.
the difference between us is s-off only.
I already tried it and the .apk files on /system/apps are replaced after i make the reboot. I guess this is why s-off is needed... I think i have to wait for the new s-off. Or till somebody with a Sprint contract will help me (if it is even possible since im in europe right now)

Try the following on you responsibility
- You should know your SPC, you can read it with CDMA Workshop or CDMA DFS Tool.
- Install QSPT (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2263391)
- enable diag mode ##3424#
- open QPST configuration, from port tab add your device diagnostics port.
- from start clients tab choose service programming then ok & click on read from phone.
- on system tab choose automatic for roam preferences.
- on UMTS System tab choose any for pref service domain & any band (last bottom right) for proffered band.
- click write to phone, then your device should work on GSM mode with modified HTCOMADM_SPCS.apk.
I'm with rooted, S-Off , bootloader unlocked HTC One M8 Sprint variant... I've even tried sim unlock... But it's still not accepting GSM sim cards... I think we need to have specific Prl update or UICC unlock for it to work

geeez... guess I can try one of those unlock sites..
If I flash a modified t mobile rom (sprint kernel, modules, and partitions) to my phone is sim unlock still needed?
AS far as I know simunlock does not work for domestic carriers.
Hi,
So I run into that problem eventually.
I am not from the states and I bought the phone unlocked from a friend.
After some months of use the Not a valid sim card popped up.
I contacted HTC support and they didn't know how to fix this.
I am thinking of removing the sprint rom completely and installing the Unlocked/Developer one.
I am not a pro with these stuff so I would like to ask if that would be possible and if I could do something else instead.
The phone runs with 6.20.651.3 marshmallow.
Thanks in advance.
Is your phone s-off ?? U cant unlock the phone just by flashing the unlocked developer version . Try the sim unlocked methods posted in sprint htc m8 general fourms
