Wifi won't turn on, help please? - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a N920P that is rooted and worked 100%. Then I bought some (Wifi enabled) smart lights. I downloaded the app and noticed my wifi wouldn't come on. I tried the usual Play Store wifi fixer apps to no avail. When running logcat, I'm getting problems with the wpa_suplicant and p2p_suplicant not connecting and it's also seeming like the driver is messing up. I would gladly post up the logcat info if anybody is willing to lend a hand. If need be I would be willing to donate a 12 pack if necessary for your time. I'm out of warranty and everything so that's not an option for me. I hope to hear from somebody.

I would factory reset, and go from there

latest OTA update = no wifi

Is anyone else having issues today? I ran MN on my mom's Nook Color a while back, and today my dad called me and said it's not working. Im not sure which version of MN is on there, but I did whatever was posted (i searches and can't find the old thread) when the last OTA update went out. In any case, the problem she is having is with the wifi. Apparantly, she can get to the "view networks" screen on the initial boot up screen but cannot connect to any networks. I'll have to take a look at it tomorrow, but I figured I would get a head start here to see if anyone else has this issue, or is it just me. Thanks.
Did you try deleting all the connections and rebooting?
Sometimes even the reboot isn't needed. Last time I had connection issues, they stopped as I was deleting old wifi profiles.

I haven't had the device in my hands yet to take a look, but my dad said he deleted the wifi connection and set it up again and now it works, but now he said it is wiped out, as in all the books and apps that were on there are now gone. Could an OTA update cause this or did it just crash for some unknown reason? I'm going to see my parents tonight so I'll have a look for myself.

Flashed back to stock and now wifi won't connect amongst other issues. :-\

Been having horrible troubles with my bionic since the update. Not that it was stellar before it, would drop data often, but it was better then now. After the update the phone randomly reboots while on calls and the tethering app fails often. I have to power cycle phone to get it to work again. Since I'm paying for the tethering feature I'd like it to work.
Well I had only rooted my device and flash Bigndad's theme on my device. That was it. I had flashed the restore to the theme that was in the thread. But I think it was missing stuff cause i failed the update calling out various things that the theme re-skinned. Nothing I had edited or touched on my own. So I replaced the "bad" files and updated. It passed and updated, however, my phone sucked badly. Tethering was really hit or miss. And random rebooting while on calls SUCK.
So I did a factory reset last night at work. Still tether wouldn't function right, even with nothing else installed. So I used r3l3ased and forever root to restore me back to stock OS the phone came with and rerooted. Now my system should be perfect and working with no issues. I did the update fine this time. No hiccups. However...tether is still broken and hit or miss at best. Seems to stop working randomly and I still have to reboot phone to get it to work and now my wifi on the device will not connect at all to my home network and it worked fine before the flash. Just will refuse to connect. Sees network but can't authenticate.
What is left for me to do? Honestly? Is there a red lite or fastboot flashable file of the current updated OS that works that i can just flash over mine and hope it fixes the issues? Getting frustrated. I can kinda deal with no wifi since I have unlimited data but would prefer to use wifi at home. And i pay for the tether. I need it to work. Don't get why it is so flakey.
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Humor is always appreciated. ;-)

[Q] New to Nexus One, Can't seem to get Wi-Fi Calling to work

Hi, I just got a Nexus One (I know I am late to the party) and I flashed the latest stable:
CyanogenMod-7.2.0-passion Rom and the
WiFi-Calling-passion-03292011-signed.zip.
When I Start the app and turn on Wi-Fi calling I get stuck at the "Please wait while connection to T-Mobile Network" Screen.
I even called T-Mobile to make sure there was nothing to be done on their end. They said I was all good on their end.
So what am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The unforgiven package is not compatible anymore. You need this one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19647942&postcount=547
You should get Titanium Backup so you can uninstall the two system apps from the unforgiven install: kineto and gan optimizer, then flash this.

Wifi notifications setting broken.

Hello. I seem to have an issue with my wifi notification settings. It constantly notifies me, although the check box is unchecked.
Here's the more interesting part though. I go and check wifi notification, back out of that menu, go back into it, and it's unchecked.
This is a new issue I'm having, it has never done it before. I updated to the first KitKat OTA and really didn't like it, so I s-off/rooted, downgraded back to the first stock rom, then accepted each OTA until I was back on 3.05.651.6, and then it started.
Does anyone know of a way I can fix this issue? I should be able to flash a fix for it if there is one, or modify the settings internally if there is a way.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Any help would be extremely appreciated and earn a thanks. ^^;

Since I couldn't find any other solution, I used SQLite Editor to edit the Wi-Fi notifications off.
I'd like to figure out why it it happening though, but this does the trick.

Offline but connected

Hello,
My smartwatch LG G Watch R is connected throug bluetooth, but 9 out of 10 times teh ok google says its offline, with a slashed cloud.
I have allready factory reset both phone and watch.
Reinstall Google Now
Check settings 100 times
Is my watch broken? Or can this be another problem?
regards,
Frans
I have had this a couple of times. It is the phone not connecting to the internet. I only have had it when on wifi. Switched wifi on phone off and on and that fixed it.
Does it happen on wifi and mobile data?
Hi. Yes it means that it's connected to the phone but the phone is not connected to the Internet.

Have the same problem; it's connected via bluetooth AND voice recognition works perfectly on the phone - any ideas anyone ?
Ash
seems to be when i receive a card, directly after it wont connect
Hi all, I've registered in order to ask exactly the same question.
Every time I use some voice recognition (i.e. give an order, answer to someone...) I got these "offline" errors same as OP.
"Offline" or "Can't reach Google at the moment" even if my phone is 100% with internet conectivity.
Anyone got this fixed? Any troubleshooting around it?
Thanks in advance !
I'd expect it would happen if you have a battery saver like Juice Defender on the phone that turns off data when the screen is off, or only switches it on every 15 mins etc. I'd turn off any battery saving stuff on the phone that could be doing anything like that and see if there's any improvement
At least I, I don't have any kind of battery saving application...
Add me to this list. Total garbage. I've had this watch for a few days and I'm very underwhelmed because of this problem.
I've experienced the same problem. Watch works when wifi is active but goes" offline" when only connected to data. I believe I've come across a solution. It's working for me.
Switch on background data for Google search.(on your phone) That worked for me.
Go to settings, data usage, scroll down to Google search (should be there on the list) and make sure background data isn't restricted.
Hope this helps. Good luck guys/girls.

Nope no joy for me with this...
No ticks in any app on that list..!
These constant disconnects are really getting to me now !
Strangely I'm on a note 3 too, albeit running the leaked lollipop rom, I take it your still on stock KitKat firmware ?
I was going to flash back to 4.4.3 stock to see if it cures it but if you're still on this I won't bother.

Looks like a very common problem across all android wear watches.
Even though I have a G Watch R, I've had a nosey around and according to the Moto 360 forums they are having the same issues so I would guess either lollipop on the watch has an issue or the latest android wear app.. rather than the watch itself if the 360 is doing the same.
And I don't think it did this when the Mrs first bought my watch and let me try it out prior to putting it away for xmas.
I had a good few hours playing with it to make sure it was working ok and what I wanted for my xmas present
This was before the updates to the app and watch firmware.
Had it been like it is now I think I would have sent it back...!
Hopefully it will get fixed after the New Year and everyone gets back to their jobs at Google..
Most of the functions still go to the "cloud" to work, so if you have any battery saving "features" enabled that restrict Google Play Service, then you'll likely to run into problems.
I've seen this problem also and it was caused by my flakey wifi connection or trying to make the watch do something while out of signal (like in an elevator). But that not the watch's fault...
You can try downloading the voice recognition offline, that could help, but it still neds internet to work properly. Uninstall all batery saving garbage (I have yet to see a working one) and try again.
Sorry to hear that it didn't work for you. I had that problem on 4.3 and upgraded to 4.4 thinking it would solve the issue. Changing bootloaders, roms, android versions didn't fix it until I reenabled background data.
I was rooted running jedi 4.3 rom when I got my g watch r. Switched to PAC ROM 4.4.4 and the prob was still there. It's all good now though. Good luck and hope you find a fix. I totally understand your frustration.
