Wifi notifications setting broken. - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello. I seem to have an issue with my wifi notification settings. It constantly notifies me, although the check box is unchecked.
Here's the more interesting part though. I go and check wifi notification, back out of that menu, go back into it, and it's unchecked.
This is a new issue I'm having, it has never done it before. I updated to the first KitKat OTA and really didn't like it, so I s-off/rooted, downgraded back to the first stock rom, then accepted each OTA until I was back on 3.05.651.6, and then it started.
Does anyone know of a way I can fix this issue? I should be able to flash a fix for it if there is one, or modify the settings internally if there is a way.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Any help would be extremely appreciated and earn a thanks. ^^;

Since I couldn't find any other solution, I used SQLite Editor to edit the Wi-Fi notifications off.
I'd like to figure out why it it happening though, but this does the trick.

[Q] No 3G on Rooted Samsung Captivate

I rooted my Captivate last night using Super One Click and the Youtube video from MobileTechVideos. I installed Titanium Backup and uninstalled all the bloatware along with Tethering Manager to allow for mobile hotspots. However, this morning I discovered I now have no 3G access and can only access the internet via my wireless network. I haven't come across anything online to suggest how to fix this problem. I've tried restarting my phone but this didn't work. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
Any suggestions guys?
att? search default att apn settings

Use ODIN one click to go back to an out of the box state and see if the problem persists. If it does then it could be your hardware or AT&T's fault.

Have you enable the data in wireless settings? maybe it has left uncheck.
If your with Rogers flash a different modem and that should solve the problem

Sometimes the simplest things are overlooked. All I needed was to check Use Packet Data in the Mobile Network Settings. Thank you for the easy fix! I was getting ready to unroot and start again.

I am confused...by wireless network you mean like the one from your network(for eg: ATT) one right? your problem is that you are getting EGDE but not 3G? I am sorry I didnt get your problem.

Glad you did. anyway we are not perfect sometimes we may overlooked something due to excitement or what other feelings as a result of what we do and clouded up our troubleshooting instinct. The best way is to be calm and don't panic it's just part of being a rom flashaholic, overtime it will increase your confidence and skill.

[Q] Problems on 3G

Hey guys. First of all, I do have a working connection, but there's one problem though. Whenever my phone is on mobile data, some apps just work weird.
Gtalk: I am signed in, chatting with someone, then I put the phone away for a few minutes. The next time I check Gtalk, it is offline. It doesn't even want to get online until I turn 3G off and back on or I restart the app, then it works for a while (random) and then happens again.
Facebook: I browse the news feed and at some point (random) when i reach the bottom of the page and it should load the earlier posts, it just rolls the little circle but nothing happens. Closing the app and restarting it solves the problem, but again, temporalily.
Life is Magic (game): It can hang anytime between loading the levels or whenever it needs data connection.
Whenever these things happen, and I fire up the browser, it works... but despite that, Gtalk still wouldn't go online until I restart it. This happened on every every JB (LPY,LPQ,LQB) so far. I am using CoCore kernel, no other mods.
Thanks for help or any ideas!
Same problem here with gtalk . It has been offline on all version and combination of JB and kernels.can someone provide me stock gtalk app.so that I can re install

you can download a google apps package from here: http://goo.im/gapps
i tried that one too though, still the same. the problem is with the way certain apps using mobile networks, i believe. it doesn't happen on wifi.
Guys, really no one else uses Google Talk?
Still, I believe the problem is with 3G.
Yeah, like you guys said, this happens to me on every official firmwares and only when I'm on 3g. (Just noticed now that you guys mention it)
I had to turn off and on the 3g for it to be active again. I don't use gtalk but it happens with gmail, stock email, fb, xda-app and tapatalk too among others.
As mentioned, it's totally random and usually happens when left by itself for a while. Until now, the only workaround I used is like you guys, just to turn it off and on again.
Until now I thought it was a problem with my ISP but guess it wasn't.

probably not. but still, turning it on and off doesn't solve the problem because Gtalk goes offline after a while and I don't receive messages which is the whole pont
also, facebook app stops refreshing the news feed as I scroll down...
up...
does anyone have a solution yet? are there others affected?
UPDATE: i went back to Gingerbread thinking that it will solve my problem. But that just doesn't happen, gtalk goes offline, i am not getting facebook messages etc,etc...
I think I should take this phone to the service.

Android os background data extremely high

Anybody know how to stop this ? The first few weeks of using my phone it was quite low but now it's sky high! Have had a Google and tried unsyncing everything, turned off background data, turned off back up and still it's getting worse! Any ideas ?

Looks like something is failing to sync properly and is stuck trying to do so. Have you had a look in your sync settings to see if anything is doing this?
My browser once got stuck in this state. Turning off the sync for it, going into the app settings and wiping cache and data sorted it.
Failing that, try Settings> Call Settings> Use Internet Calling, and check not settings in there are causing it.
Not left Wi-Fi hotspot on have you?
Try putting this on to find the culprit: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.taosoftware.android.packetcapture&feature=search_result
Most of my synching is off and it's not on auto sync, but my internet calls was on to accept only internet calls ? Although an account isn't set up with it, but I did download Skype once at perhaps the same of this rise, have changed it to ask for each call and will monitor it!

Probably Facebook lol.. Act as account manager Toggle/Sync
Still eating it up today, what does that app do that you linked too ?

"Your Network is Unstable" ?

Did you guys notice that the Note 3 keeps giving this message every time it connects to a wi-fi network?
You then need to change the settings to make it ignore the message and stay connected. But the message will always pop-up.
Any ideas if this is a Hardware or an Android 4.3 issue?
i get the same notification all the time.
I remember seeing this message before. Now, I get "Prevention Information" when I connect to Wifi

Never had this, never saw it. Nit even once. All I have seen from day one is "Connected to XXXX" where exactly are you seeing this message? i have not seen it in notifications, nor in the little pop up at the screen bottom -which I hate personally - oh to have a custom ROM, sigh! Actually now that I am rooted, I suppose I can research the fix and implement myself... It's pure laziness (on my part) is what it is, and there's NO excuse for it, lol!
I've never had that. Connecting to an open network or something?

I get that message also not sure what is going on there though
My Galaxy Note 3 Is A Definite Go!!!!!
I get the same message!!!
I have a brand new ATT Galaxy Note 3 rooted and running stock firmware and I too get this message all the time. I didn't realize I could force it to connect anyways, could anyone elaborate on how to do this? My Wi-Fi connection is very strong and my internet speed is fast, I know the problem is with the phone. I don't know what's causing this problem. If I had to guess though I would say something to do with KNOX. I started getting the "Prevention" message people are talking about in the other threads about the same time this Wi-fi thing started.
THanks XDA
Theres a thread about this already with the fix. Open dialer and dial *#0011# hidden menu will pop up and then hit the hard menu key, tap wifi, click wifi power saving mode to off and then reboot.
I get that too, I've did the secret menu fix but it still happens. I know it's not my network since I have extremely fast Internet and and an Asus n65

I get that message from time to time and it generally happens when i can connect to wifi but the quality of the connection is weak, or the internet connection itself is poor.
im interested to know if the battery drains faster with this option turned off.
Go into settings>wifi>advanced and Turn off automatic network switching and the message won't pop up anymore. No need to go through the dialer

Interesting - I'll see if this changes it. I also receive this message quite often. It will be nice to see if this fixes it. I did this once before, hows battery life after this change?
I've been on the phone with att/samsung, Samsung wanted me to disable att smart wifi, disabling it from applications manager

Wrong! it will still pop-up the only difference is that Turn off automatic network switching will not disconnect your wifi connectivity
We're gonna have to live with it, I've complained to Samsung and they are working on patching it but they don't have any eta

That's funny because when I experienced this problem I did this and that notification stopped! The first day I received my Note I had this problem..... I made the change in network settings and it's never been back! Maybe I just got lucky!

You did get lucky, the way samsung is describing it is that it's an random problem that they don't know what causes it

Another quick ?

I , with much help, am rooted, gps files copied and permissions fixed, froze at&t software updates through titanium pro, no knox counter, or problems. Gps works fine, changing towers, plug or unplug charger no problem. Only thing noticed is the custom on the boot screen. Is there a way to correct it? Wanted to let others know, its simple to do, and the juice is worth the squeeze. Thanks to all u that helped....I will be back Im sure.
Install wanam xposed, in the setting security hacks you can set the device to official and that will hide the padlock.
