I'm sorry if this has been answered before, but I'm amazed Huawei can't help me update.
I'm in UK, and still on MM. I updated by forcing it from 182 to 210 but I want to avoid breaching warranty by installing twrp.
It's working fine, I am happy with battery life, I just wanted to get the current stable version of Nougat.
Huawei suggest continuing to wait. Any other options for me within the warranty?

You mean the hisuite download?
No i mean manually. Root debrand, download manually firmware and install.
Hi, I would recommend using firmware finder from the play store and installing using the in app proxy method. It's always worked perfectly for me on any of my Huawei phones.
Just make sure you use the download latest full package option in system update by selecting from the three dots
Exactly but sometimes its not working so he better change DNS
My phone is second hand, seems to be debranded, L09C432B210 forced by putting the update.app in dload. It doesn't work for B360.
I have unticked unlock OEM.
I have created apn for proxy setting, and once L09C432B360 Fullota-mf-pv is downloaded, I'll install it via in app proxy.
Thanks for the explanation. If I have misunderstood please let me know.
L09C432B360 2017.01.05 failed the imei check. I'll try another version 2016.12.23 which passed the check.
In app proxy hasn't been successful on my current settings.
The default apn for ee is greyed out so I made a fresh apn with localhost server, without the mms or security settings.
Update, dload folder, update.app method failed after 5%
I found a way to change dns without rooting, installed dns66 and applied ff change dns setting.
However though updater finds the right file, and I can connect, it doesn’t install. Either download fails partway, or install fails.
Is persistence the key, or should I try another file?

You have to do all the procedure mate. and i mean ALL even de-branding again to C432 because seems your provider gave you a touched C432 firmware. Which means unlock, debrand relock , update.
Now follow one of these guides on how to upgrade your phone.
use search or use this https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/guide-debranding-to-c432-updating-to-t3551523
PS: Next time your posts on guides and not on general topics
I received OTA updates bringing me to b395 Nougat. No unlock or debranding necessary

Basically I've followed a few different methods and got it to work.
Using the firmware finder apk I downloaded the B182 (full) rom.
While this is downloading... Using es Explorer or similar create a folder called hwff in the root of your main storage.
When it has finished downloading...
Check the md5.
Unpack it.
Move to dload.
Then turn it off.
Turn back on using the 3 finger method.
This will then install B182.
Note: when it reboots it will stay on the Huawei red logo for a few minutes.
Let it finish and you will have B182 working.
***********
Now to update to B361.
I used the combination of Huawei updater 2.0 and HiSense to update.
It found it with no issues and I just left it to update.
**********
Update to B378-FULL
This was simply an OTA update through the normal Settings > Update menu.
Fairly painless, just time consuming really.

Man the update path on these huawei's is killing me. I've only just taken the plunge. Accidentally turned my c432 into a c900 by double flashing a b166 rom. Took me best part of a day to get it back to c432b166!
The amount of slow crappy downloads we have to make in order to make incremental upgrades. Is there not a way that we can just go straight into a later build without all these rollups?
You can just use the proxy install method within the Firmware Finder app, its very easy.
Just google "how to. using firmware finder youtube" as I cant post direct link, then 99% of the work is done for you
Hutchism: Sadly not, from what I've seen you can only jump to Nougat from B182 and nothing earlier - Don't ask me why... Makes NO sense!
Natchi: The proxy install method did not work for me. That's why I did it the way I did... All I know is that it worked and I'm running Nougat.

Hi there, followed your first step with no issues - finally on B182! Struggling to find the B361 update using Hisuite (windows PC), HiCare (app) or the Update app.
Any advice on how to do this? What is Updater 2.0 please?
Thanks very much!

They are the two files to install with twrp since MM.
Or be in b370 and dload the first file (update.app).

No TWRP here, all stock - I'm trying to install using Firmware Finder + proxy which worked well for the two parts needed for B160 to B370. It seems there's an additional check going on now giving the authentication error after a successful download and verification.

OK,
I never found firmware finder server.
I always use twrp.
I am currently, in c432, I will change oeminfo and test it.
Well, I installed it. Interesting, android security June 5 and kernel version June 5, 2017.
I was c432b380.
Downgrade MM (c432b160), I use the toolkit to change oeminfo to c440 and firmware c440b132.
Then, bootloader code, installs TWRP for MM, install update.zip and file datafull.zip, REBOOT.
everything is OK. works correctly.:good:

Try to remove data of updater application and check again. This solution works for me
Tried clearing data for System Update, same problem Is that what you meant by updater application?
---------- Post added at 09:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:31 PM ----------
If I put the phone into airplane mode the updater complains it has no internet access to authenticate, then fails as before; it really does look like there's another stage to this now.
I suppose I could try a factory reset and redo the FF+proxy approach but I don't think that'll work. Revert to B160 and try going straight to B380? Sounds like too much of a risk for me!
Without capturing the network traffic (or decompiling the updater app perhaps) to find out what it's up to it doesn't look like I'm going to get beyond B370 until someone somewhere else decides I can
Yes, this is that application what I mean. It's strange that system update download 4GB of data - I've got same problem and cleaning data and sending full package from Firmware Finder via proxy fixed problem, system update download just ~300mb.

Did you go from B370 to B380? It seems that the updater in B370, for me at least, is phoning home for 'authentication' and being denied. If it's working for you from B370 then I wonder what it's using for the check... IMEI, IP address location lookup... hmm. I might try again via a VPN server in Poland.
Not exactly, I upgrade from B371 to B381.
C440? I've not seen odd numbers for the UK/EE firmware.
This is not important - on Your screenshot is a bug with a big update file and this is why You have error with authentication
Good point, it's double the size showing during a download
Still fails when the size is shown correctly and using a Polish VPN

Same thing happens to me :/
I can't go from b370 to b380...
Anyone knows what is the difference between b370 and b380 and are there valuable reasons to keep trying to update our just stick with the b370?
If nothing else I believe it has a more recent Android security patch level. It looks like either the MM updater doesn't do the authentication check which is failing, or it does but b380 hasn't been cleared wherever that check looks. The only way I can see to check the first is to roll back to MM and try going straight to b380. Otherwise we're waiting on the authentication being given to b380.

Yes just MM, bootloader, Chinese twrp.
Sorry, I do not know how to do otherwise.
Firmware finder server I never succeeded.
I have a SIM free UK P9. Early on in its life it received updates happily but I have still not received Nougat and I'm still on the September 2016 Security Patch from Google. I've never rooted or tampered with the device, so where are my updates? Are Huawei simply too busy with other phones to bother updating flagships from only last year?
It is unacceptable to me that a £450 device from a manufacturer purportedly looking to compete with the big guns in the premium phone space cannot be bothered to keep its older handsets up to date. How is a user supposed to put his trust in a company when they seem to forget about their older devices once newer ones are released onto the market?
Meanwhile a friend of mine with a SIM free Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (!) has June's security patches.
Small wonder people don't take Huawei seriously. This P9 is a lovely device with great battery life and is still (for my usage) an excellent handset; however I will not be buying another Huawei until I am confident that they are willing to maintain support for older devices. So far it seems that some people in different parts of the world on various carriers *do* get updates (or at least have more recent ones) but Huawei seem incapable of rolling them out consistently and across the board.
Disappointing.
Anyone else have any thoughts on this? I don't wish to put Huawei down too much as I think they bring some interesting things to the market but one of my biggest bugbears is where manufacturers forget that after-sales support and updates are some of the things that contribute to people's perception of a company. Might as well just buy Doogees and Vernees off Banggood without it.
Don't wait huawei to send update, use firmware finder from play store,or dload method,or hisuite method, all these methods are officially safe and keep your warranty. What your build number ?
Build number is EVA-L09C432B182.
I'm not really into flashing ROMs these days as i don't want to mess anything up. I don't want to flash firmware that isn't UK SIM free either, and if I haven't had that update OTA then I assume it simply hasn't been released.
I don't have a PC anyway as I sold my Surface Pro and now only have a MacBook.
Use firmware finder from play store, and firmware finder proxy,it is the easy way, only search for the rom u want and let your system update search for update by using proxy,if from MM to nougat u will not loose anything.
You'd have to guide me through that step by step as to be honest I don't entirely understand anything other than the bit about using something from the Play Store
OK so I worked this out. The only firmware it says is approved for my device is the next up on the list - EVAL09C432B330-LOG.
This downloads fine through the stock Huawei update menu (as if i am just doing a normal update) and the phone reboots but then the installation fails, whether I choose the full package or standard update option.

do you have a way to get the files from firmware finder onto your SD card? If so create a folder called DLOAD on the root directory and then put the update file in that folder. Power off the phone and hold all three buttons (power and vol+/-) until you get the firmware updating screen.
Let me know if it still fails.
Thanks. Will doing this cause any mismatches in future and stop me being able to receive OTA updates, or affect Android Pay?
I have put the update.zip in a folder called dload in the root of the SD but neither the boot method of installation nor the dialler method seems to find it. I've tried with a different update.zip with the same result

Who told u that??, incorrect my friend, extract the update.zip and put only update.app inside dlod folder in the root of your sd card,it is explain hunderds of time everywhere
Hi, this isn't all that clear in the other instructions I've read, and historically flashing update.zip from the root of an SD card is quite a typical way to flash software, so you can understand the confusion!
Are you sure this will work? Other threads online indicate that flashing is much more difficult than this and requires unlocking the bootloader. Am I missing something here?
I also tried this but failed on my phone. I put the update.app in the dload folder but always fails after about 14%

Just to let you know, after downloading a bazillion files and trying every method under the sun I finally got this to work. It is now running B386 firmware.
Using the manual update method didn't work for me; the steps I had to follow are as follows:
With Firmware Finder, choose the B386 full OTA package - check for compatibility first (it said mine was compatible with it) and choose to install via proxy. Set up your WiFi to run the localhost/8080 proxy settings as instructed by FF. While the file is downloading, remove the proxy settings from your WiFi, allow it to reconnect and continue the download.
I then just left the phone to its own thing. I was actually watching a video in the background when it rebooted itself and began the installation process, which didn't fail as I expected it to.
Everything seems to be running fine now.
Thanks to the person in this thread who suggested using Firmware Finder.

Any help?
1.) Is your boot-loader unlocked ?
2.) Do you have a Custom Kernel or Recovery Installed?
3.) Are you Rooted?
If the answer is yes to any of them then thats why your not getting any OTA's, If Yes is on 1.) then simply issue the fastboot command to relock the device "fastboot oem relock <bootloader-code>" If its yes to 2.) / 3.) Then your going to need to flash the phone back to stock before then relocking the bootloader.

1) Was unlocked
2)Had TWRP
3)Was rooted
I switched back to stock because of constant bugs especially the camera(what's the use of keeping a camera oriented phone in the pocket if it's camera is of no use?)
I'd used HuRupdater to flash the firmware. Now bootloader's relocked and everything's working fine except updates.
I think I flashed the wrong firmware maybe ( I forgot the build number so had to guess. I was sure I had an LLD-AL10 and that there was a C675 and 8.0 in the build number. I matched the changelog with that of the last update I got and then I kinda found out that everything matched to LLD-AL10 8.0.0.170(C675) )
Would one stop getting updates if they installed wrong firmware?
Everything works fine except updates.( And the bootloader 'relocked' status in fastboot).
Should I just flash the August update with HuRupdater( that's gonna be a lot of hassle as I have to unlock bootloader and do all those stuff) or can I update via any other method?
Right you can use Firmware finder on your phone which is a good start.
So using FF select then next version up from your current and only select a OTA-MF, then make sure its for your phone by clicking check firmware access.
If its for your phone then simply use the in-app proxie and connect to a wifi point. Once you have done this edit that Wifi via Settings and change the Proxie to Localhost port 8080. Then go the System and Update.
Now it should download the small version OTA to your phone and reboot to try to install it, it it goes thought and installs without error then great, if it errors out when you boot back into android it will offer the Full OTA without using FF to which will then flash proper without losing data then see if OTA's work after that.

I checked and this is what happened.
FF detected my phone as LLD-AL10C675
The latest update that's is approved is
LLD-AL10 8.0.0.181(C675CUSTC675D1)
It is B181
But that update is from June. So I searched for LLD-AL10 and pressed ok , so that it shows all firmwares for lld al10.
And I think I found the one I have currently installed(build number and changelog matches) LLD-AL10 8.0.0.170(C675CUSTC675D1). It is from 11/7/2018. Everything above says either firmware not approved or has a wierd term cn in the available models section.
This is something I quite don't understand. When I check firmware access it says lld-al10:all-cn.
I think cn stands for China.( Uploading screenshot)
Would it be safe for me to install the update?
Also is it necessary to download the update just above the one I have installed now or can I skip to the latest one?
Sorry if that's a lot of questions.
I'm in a tight corner now.
I can't get any updates using the dns method or the in app proxy method.
This sucks as I was able to get an update using the dns method 3 weeks back. I didn't install it. I checked for updates, it showed updates, then I stopped dns and things went back to how it was(no updates ?). Today I tried again and nothing happened.
Crazy phone?

OMFG bro I fixed it.
You see Huawei had rolled out an update for the 'system update' app through playstore. I had updated it. And after I uninstalled the update for it, things are starting to work again ?.
Only 3 questions remains.
1) Can I install firmware that is not approved?
2)Is it necessary to install the update just above the version I
have currently installed?
3)Is it okay if FF says it's approved but has the part LLD-AL10-
all-cn:all ?
Does the cn part matter ?
Would be very grateful if you could help
1) Yes
2) No
3) CN= China. Personally I wouldn't, plus I don't speak Chinese , why would you want to ? I also like having full access to Google playstore.
On an aside, I'm beginning to get the impression you won't be happy till you really brick your phone .:laugh:

I have tried this procedure more than three times and it just doesn't work. I have the same model version C432 and the same firmware B133. I even downloaded the full Ota file and tried through SD card update ("#" #2846579#"#"), still nothing. When I connect it to Hisuite it says that I have the last official version. Any suggestions?

I used the FF app on mobile then used in app proxie connected to a wifi point and edited the connection to enable proxie on localhost port 8080. I also only downloaded only the small OTA, however it will fail to install then once you rebooted back into android go system update and then press the 3 dots and go for Full Download that will fix it.
Just a point you may have the same Firmware even the same model but they are not made equal.
Also check Google play store app for Huawei System Update it should look like the picture that's attached then click uninstall and reinstall install the app too before starting as reinstalling that app can help alot.

Many thanks for your prompt reply.
So Ive already done all this because it may be related but no luck.Last time I used FF was to get the B133 which already didnt work on the 7th August,I then uninstalled the FF app, stopped the proxy localhost etc. and right after that I did the update check through system update and the B133 FULL was offered to download,so the B133 was made properly through system update right after all the procedure with the FF.

Try uninstalling the update for the system update app then use the VPN or proxy method.
Maybe the update just hasn't reached you like me.

Hello
I would like to update my Honor 9 lite ordered a china
But It seemsthe OTA update does not work in France for this mode Yes or No ?
I just read almost every page of this thread but I must admit that I am not enough to succeed to make all these manipulations.
I managed to download 3 file of the latest update Huawei Firmware Finder.
I have 1 file (update.zip), 1 (update_data_full_public.zip) and another (update_full_LLD-L22A_hw_in.zip)
But now I do not know how to update the firmware with these 3 files.
Yes I am lost because I can not find a simple method to update my firmware.
I used the Huawei Firmware Finder Android application, but I can not start an update even though I downloaded the files as what by the proxi as advised or go through a DNS.
Yes I am a novice but I would like to successfully update this smartphone.
Thank you for your help and advice
Sorry for my english I am using Google translator
Thank you to all of you

Its not that complicated even though it might seen tricky.
There are two ways to do this:
1)firmware finder(Android app)
You can use firmware finder's update through proxy or dns method.
But before you do that go to play store and search for "system update". In the result you can see the EMUI system update app. Click it and uninstall the updates.
Then open firmware finder(Android app) and go to the firmware you want to install. You can find dns method and proxy method there. DNS would be easier but both works.
Choose whichever you want. Select the auto mode for more ease of installing. Then check for updates from the settings app and you will hopefully find the update listed. Download it like normal OTA update and then it'll be installed.
Points to consider:
*This will only work with a locked bootloader and if it is unlocked relock it
*It's recommend to download only full updates as these will have less chance of failing
*Make sure that you only download approved firmwares otherwise the update will be abandoned after download (means you wasted your data for nothing)
*Choose which firmware to install carefully and try to stick with your varient as installing other varient's firmware may fail or cause bugs
2)Through HuRupdater
This is not recommended if you're not familiar with rooting or bootloader unlocks
If you don't have an unlock code then you cannot proceed as honor stopped giving bootloader unlock codes so if you don't have your code keep trying the first method
You can use the firmware finder for PC or Android.
Download all 3 files of the firmware (ONLY FULL OTAs)
Then unlock the bootloader(if not done yet)
Flash a twrp for our device
Then download HuRupdater
Follow the guidelines: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
Long story short, you need to rename the three files to "update.zip" , "update_all_hw.zip" and "update_data_public.zip"
Then keep all three files and HuRupdater .zip in the same folder. Using TWRP flash the HurUpdater.zip file(not others)
After flashing is done relock the bootloader to recieve further OTA Updates.
Then you're all good to go.
Points to consider:
*Don't relock bootloader right after flashing. Boot up the phone and set it up. Check if everything is working and then only relock it.
*Keep recovery.img with the 3 files and HuRupdater.zip while flashing. Then after checking if everything is okay, flash the firmware again but this time delete the recovery.img
*Don't relock with TWRP installed because of possible risk of bricking.
So if you are familiar with the rooting procedures 2nd method might be good but you'll loose warranty.
I honestly recommend the 1st one as it has less risk involved.
But remember everything you do is at your own risk.
Anyways there is a thanks button below ?
Edit: hey I just noticed that you have an LLD-AL10 C675. So there's a new update B188. You can find it in firmware finder. It is approved and goes with your varient. Use the dns method. Refer above for details
Hello
I finally managed to update my Honor 9Lite
1 - You must remove all updates from EMUI
2 - Go in Huawei Firmware Finder find the right version for your Smartphone (I took a Fuul OTA 188. and check its compatibility
3 - Change your Internet Connection with Proxy Settings as requested by Firmware Finder
4 - Go to system settings and start checking for updates
An update will be found and it is good that you have selected in Firmware Finder.
5 - Start the update, when the download starts 1% pause it.
6 - Shut down the Wifi resume download with 4G.
7 - Once the download is done the update is done by itself do not interrupt it-
8 - The phone restarts and check that the update has gone well
For me everything went well
Thank you all for your advice :good::good::good:
Have a good day
Best regards
